"Experience one of the state’s great German restaurants and make sure you go hungry when you do. Loreilei Inn is known around town for hulking plates of German-American food, cold beer from both Germany and Wisconsin, live music, as well as alleged paranormal activity. The bar also hosts an annual Oktoberfest every year that draws up to 3,000 people who gather in large tents for a weekend of German food and beer with polka music, and dancing." - Titus Ruscitti

The exceptional quality of their Guinness is truly remarkable. Having experienced authentic Guinness in Ireland, I can confidently recommend this establishment. Not only is the pouring technique impeccable, but the taste itself evokes the immediate sensation of being back in Ireland, reviving cherished memories from vacation. I cannot overstate the excellence of this creamy, dark, and delightful beverage. Since returning from Ireland, I've yet to find a comparable Guinness until now. Dave's passion for his establishment and his beer is evident. While a German bar, it offers the finest Guinness, a testament to his dedication to perfecting the pouring process, encompassing temperature control, pouring technique, and impeccably clean beer lines. We did not sample the food, but its appearance was promising..

Google
Great neighborhood throw back to a time a great German taverns and restaurant. Great atmosphere. Excellent beers and specialty drinks. Food is varied with some German fan favorites. Simply prepared but good. Friendly staff and great bartenders. Some limited stool seats at the bar, but small tables and an auxiliary room can accommodate more people and small gatherings. Parking available.

Google
I had the Rueben Sandwich and it was delicious! After the First Bite you can tell that they use real Meat. The texture was firm and the Dark Bread is made fresh daily. The Beer Choice’s are all top shelf. I can highly recommend this establishment.

Looking for a good German style meal? Look no further. We're in town to watch the KC Chiefs play against the Packers and we're looking for some German food. We shared a Jager Schnitzel with potato pancake and red cabbage. It was perfect. A bit out of town but worth the drive.

Travis Antone

Google
For what the food is I was surprised at the price tag. Almost 40 tacos for a ribeye steak, that's a bold price point for a ribeye anywhere. Schnitzel was priced pretty hefty too for what it was. I get the need to make money and market "authentic" German food but it seems like cheap food with significant mark ups. Had it not been for a friend wanting to spend his birthday dinner here I wouldn't suggest. Almost 80 tacos for some mediocre food and 2 old fashioned.

Google
A group of five of us ladies went in. I have been going to the Lorelei for decades every time I have a craving for German food. There were two disappointments. One was that there was no longer a spaetzel/dumplings on the menu. That is a big draw for German food. The dessert was a square of tort for $7. But g, it was Cool whip, not real whipped cream. However, the food was generally good and the service was speedy. The final individual bills were inconsistent in that only mine tacked on and automatic 20%. The bill said it was a big table. I don't know that five is a big table, but nobody else got that kind of upcharge on their bill. Perhaps those things should be explained at the beginning of the service.

I love this place. The owner always makes us feel welcome. Good selection of beer choices. The food is always good and they have the best Guinness in Green Bay!

Google
Couldn’t love this place more! We were in town briefly and a local told us to check this place out and it blew us away. Great ambiance, supper club like feel with excellent beverages (esp beer selection) and food. Not to mention the service was superb. They went out of their way to make our experience a positive one. Dave took care of me too after the meal when I left something behind. You want an authentic Geebs experience, this is the place!

Yelp
We visited the Lorelei Inn for their German food. We have tried several other German restaurants and were excited to compare notes. We ordered Wiener Schnitzel and Alpine Schnitzel. We also had Red Cabbage, sauerkraut and German potato salad. The Alpine Schnitzel was covered in gravy and it was a bit too starchy and the flavor is overpowering. On the other hand, the Wiener schnitzel could use a little more flavor. The German potato salad is too sour for our liking. We also ordered sampler appetizer and things are nice there. The bread basket is also pretty good. The restaurant is divided into two sides, one side is Bar and the other is a restaurant. The bar is very popular. Maybe because of that, the restaurant does not have a changing station in the restroom.

Darin V.

Yelp
Best drinks in town. The owner Dave is a great guy. Great atmosphere. Next time we're gonna come for the fish fry.

Cynthia V.

Yelp
We went to the restaurant tonight for fish. The fish was very good; however, I ordered haddock, and they brought out what looked like yellow oil instead of drawn butter. I asked the waitress if she could get me drawn butter because I have a reaction to the yellow oil and she came back to the table and said that it was drawn butter per the cook. I asked her if she could go back and bring drawn butter, she returned to the table with packets of butter and said that was the best she could do. Before we left I went to the restroom and saw the owner, Dave, through the window in the door of the kitchen talking to the cook. As I was washing my hands, I heard someone yell "so then just order butter". I asked the waitress about this and she went and talked to the owner, Dave who she said denied ever saying that -needless to say we will not return, nor will we ever recommend the place.

Yelp
Visited the Lorelei last night and let's discuss some of the best and worst of this establishment. The best was the dessert, a delicious Bavarian chocolate cherry cake. Very generous slice of cake, purely delicious. I ordered the Weiner Schnitzel with kraut and potato pancakes. Very bland all around! Nothing to come back for here. The kraut had no flavor, dry, no seasonings or juice! What? The potato pancake was thin and Lacey, however, it was greasy. My friend ordered the Rueben. Again the kraut was bland and completely dry. No thousands island dressing, instead, horseradish was served on the side. On the plus side the beer selection is above par! Overall, just a no. Come on!

Jackie E.

Yelp
As Northeastern Wisconsin natives, this is my family's favorite place for takeout Friday night fish fry. I would highly recommend the perch - it's consistent and you can't go wrong. The three bean salad or cabbage is a nice alternative to the coleslaw offering if coleslaw isn't your thing. Would recommend the wedges over the fries for your potato option, but both are pretty standard (and let's get real, you're not ordering for the fries!). Burgers, while also nothing special, are a good option for non-fish eating individuals, which can keep the whole family happy!

Ken P.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. Server was not very friendly and frankly seemed annoyed by questions. I would not eat here again

John P.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place that has a European pub vibe with knowledgeable barkeeps and great food, and even better prices; you need to make this your culinary and libation home. Shout out to Dave and his choice of beverage selections on a superior tap system. His dedication to proper glassware and clean equipment underscores the quality of this hidden gem. He often has a unicorn selection for your thirst. If you're visiting Green Bay for a game or to see those relatives, you can only stand once a year, this is a must stop. TIP: The fish sandwich is excellent.

Fergus H.

Yelp
It had been many years since I had eaten at the Lorelei. We decided to try it once again. Big mistake. My husbands Wiener schnitzel was bland and my salmon was dry as a bone not to mention that the red cabbage was very vinegary. The noise in the restaurant was deafening so much so that we had to yell to be heard. There is nothing on the walls to absorb the sound. The waitress had no idea what the soup of the day was nor was she sure of what the desserts were. What??? I can't believe this restaurant gets such great reviews. We live a short distance from the restaurant but will not return.

Yelp
Great place. Ambiance is a awesome. Green Bay institution thskxje ck jentjcnsntnfjdnrntn

Yelp
Come to Green Bay for a week long business trip and found this place. Food is amazing beautiful personal setting and super great service.

Nick L.

Yelp
A hidden gem, in my estimation. The fish fry is one of the best in Green Bay, the ambiance is great, and the service is always friendly. Great drink selection, varied menu, etc. Highly recommend!

Don G.

Yelp
I was looking forward to some good German food. Unfortunately, there were only two German dishes offered on the menu. Very disappointed that this is even considered a German restaurant. The majority of the beer was not German. Lack of offering was blamed on COVID. I will never go back to the Lorelei. Very few people eating at the restaurant. If looking for German food, this is not the place to go.

Edward F.

Yelp
Seems like a local favorite but, I was underwhelmed. The food was fine but missing something. The Veiner Schnitzel was cooked ok but was not pounded thin. The sausages were just ok though the German potato salad was a highlight. Service was spotty at best and there were errors made in the orders. It was very friendly though. Chocolate cake was just ok as well- a bit dry and ordinary. I wanted to like this place but it just fell a bit short.

Jeffery S.

Yelp
This place was way overpriced. The schnitzel was mediocre and they were very limited to just the traditional fried and breaded served with a lemon wedge style (Wiener schnitzel). Don't go here if you want other options like Jagerschnitzel. Also, I was bummed out that there was no spaetzle or even a German style salad with traditional dressings. To top it off, our waitress had horrible customer service. I lived in Germany for four years and I just wanted that feeling of being back. I will not come back to this restaurant and do not recommend.

Dave B.

Yelp
Wanted a good German meal so was told to head to the Lorelei Inn. Only four meals on the menu were German. I am no official food critique but I would say mediocre and bland at best, though the sausages were high quality. Drink selection and bar atmosphere was also very good. I will be hitting the grocery and hitting the net for recipes for cooking at home rather than the Lorelei next time i want German and recommend the same to others...money not well spent.

Mike B.

Yelp
Glad we finally stopped into this local legend. It did not disappoint. Nice selection of beers, great mixed drinks and there is more than just German food on the menu. Really great experience

Harry M.

Yelp
I have been coming to the Lorelei for over eight (8) years. Every visit is a wonderful experience. From Friday Fish Fry to great German food. Doug & Dave are the best bartenders always attentive! Cold Hacker Pschorr on tap! It may look like your average joint, but The Lorelei is anything but! I first wandered in with three friends on a Friday night, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and an incredible aroma. The restaurant was filling up quickly (it was almost 7:00 pm) but we managed to snag a table. We ordered dinner from a vivacious waitress and 20 minutes later our fish fry arrived. Hand battered fish, fries, red cabbage and buttered pumpernickel toast-a Wisconsin classic! A friendly place for great food from a caring and attentive staff! Mandatory visit for any trip to Green Bay!!!!

Pam J.

Yelp
I was here a few years ago and I think it's declined. I usually love their German options but today, between the sauerbrauten and wienerschnitzel, here's where they disappointed. Too much gravy - what are you hiding? No spaetzle, potato dumplings were unseasoned glumps. I should've been warned - 7 on Saturday night and they have no problem seating 5. Still hoping this great place rally's a bit.

Sarah J.

Yelp
Came here for the first time on a Saturday night. The bar area was packed, but the dining area was quiet and had plenty of seating. Everything was delicious! For an appetizer we had the deep fried shrimp, pickles, Ruben bites, etc and they were all great! I wasn't in a huge German food mood, so I just got a burger and some potato pancakes. Everything hit the spot! Very kind and helpful waitstaff as well. Can't wait to go back! Hopefully sometime mid week so the bar area is a little less busy

Rachel H.

Yelp
First time here. My boyfriend and I split one of the German Specialties. Had a variety of meats. Great food. Our server, 'Guy' was very attentive and informative. He's a keeper. I will definitely be back. I want to try those pepper jack cheese curds. Sehr gut!!

Mark K.

Yelp
My brother lives nearby and has been here a lot; I've been twice. First time we got German food- samplers, mostly, of sausage, wiener-schnitzel, etc. The sides are great, the cheese curds are good, the soup of the day (dill, I think) was great. The portions were huge. Each of us ate as much as we could, and still had enough for a full meal the next day. Next time we went on Friday and got fish- some got cod, some bluegill. Both were good. The portions weren't as huge as the German food, but were plenty. I haven't had room for dessert either time, but I'm sure it's good. A couple of amusing oddities: 1) Under "Lighter Fare" on the menu are fried chicken and fried shrimp. That gives you some idea of the food culture in Wisconsin. 2) The "Wisconsin micros" section of the drinks included Pabst. Otherwise, they had a good and varied selection.

D W.

Yelp
A German resturant with a good selection of German and import/craft beers. The inital greeting you get when you enter is all you get.I don't know if that was because we stoped for drinks only and not to eat. This has happened before and lingers when I think of stopping in the future.

Brandy W.

Yelp
I wouldn't say the food was perfectly authentic, but it was good. The meat and potatoes and gravy were fine. The kraut was more sour than traditional German kraut but still delicious. We were really hoping they had boiled potatoes like we remember from living in Deutschland, but sadly, no dice. They had quite a few other starches to choose from that were also German, however. The prices were super reasonable and they have a ton of great beers from all over the world to choose from. It's clearly a family joint as the hostess appeared to be the mother (owner?) because she really took charge and really cared about everything going on in the place. It's quaint but a bit loud in the main dining room and honestly-- exactly like a traditional German restaurant, though Germans are actually more subdued and it would be quiet. But the restaurant itself was typical in size. We quite enjoyed it and if we were in town again from Chicago, we'd go back.

Scott C.

Yelp
A friend and I had the idea to come here for a Friday Night Fish Fry and was going to be about three or four of us turned to about 15. The staff was very accommodating since their dinner room is kind of small but had two round tables in the middle of the room. We did have to split the group in half, but that was okay it was nice that we could have two tables and they were close together. This was my first time eating here and it was tempting to get some German food, but I felt I had to get fish since that's why I wanted to come here. I had the small plate of blue gill with german potato salad and red cabbage. It was all great, and definitely worth it's price. Our server was great, especially with a big group. There were no mix ups and it didn't take overly long to get our food. If you like your craft beers they have a really good selection. I had a couple of IPA's and I had to have Boulder's Chocolate Shake Porter on nitro. They're always rotating their taps so it's worth to coming to see what they have.

B P.

Yelp
Went for lunch. Cooktop was down, so no reubens. Had a burger, was undercooked. Onion rings were like the ones you buy in the frozen section at supermarket. Server wasnt overly friendly but attentive enough. Might give it another shot if I was in the area, but based on this visit wouldnt be my first choice.

Tech G.

Yelp
Amazing food, great staff committed to making a proper cocktail. They have a huge beer selection and properly maintained lines. Fresh!! My favorite spot in Green Bay. The best Guinness you will have outside of Ireland. All of the above and the atmosphere is why this is a regular visit for my wife and I.

Ashley R.

Yelp
Amazing food! Came for fish fry Friday and it was stellar! The blue gill was out of this world!

Richard C.

Yelp
Good little German restaurant in the Green Bay area. It's been around for a long time and they have a loyal following. The dining room is small so expect a wait, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. The bar has a nice selection of German beers to sample while you wait. The food has been good every time I've been here. I prefer the sauerbraten, sauerkraut, and potato dumplings. Never been disappointed in either the quality or quantity of the food. Save room for the Black Forest cake. It can get noisy because of the close quarters. Parking available in two an adjacent lots.

Emily K.

Yelp
My husband has wanted to come here for a while and the timing never worked out until last night. We stopped in and were transported to another time it felt like. Walking in we were promptly seated in the little dining room off of the old school bar area. Our waitress was attentive and helpful in getting us a beer menu. I of course ordered my favorite German beer Hacker-Pschorr which was perfection like always. I wanted to order something from the specialty menu I picked the traditional Wienerschnitzel with a side of German potato salad and red cabbage. The first thing we were served was a little bread basket. The bread was piping hot and delicious. I think we had a rye roll and an onion roll. I really liked their light and fluffy texture. Next came my entrée and boy was I in for a treat. The Wienerschnitzel was crisp and lightly fried. Served with some lemon it was simple and I really enjoyed pairing it with the red cabbage with each bite. The red cabbage was the best I have ever had (sorry grandma)! It was still slightly crisp but had a tart flavor I adored. The German potato salad was warm and was not overly vinegary which I really appreciated. Overall for the price ~$40 for the two of us you cannot beat the price and quality of this place. If you want authentic German food you HAVE to stop in here.

Jon J.

Yelp
They are awesome great place to be! Been there forever and still has the.charm of a good old fashion tavern.

Sylvia C.

Yelp
The sauerbraten was disappointing. The sauce/gravy had a jelled consistency, like it was not fresh made. The beef was tender, but very bland. Nothing from this visit said authentic.

Tamir T.

Yelp
So I came looking for dessert. I found it, but it was from a church potluck. The pistachio tort was literally cool whip layered with green cool whip on a graham cracker crust. The atmosphere was so depressing that I couldn't stay any longer and left my cool whip pie half eaten. Ugh

Deb G.

Yelp
Was excited for some authentic German food but was disappointed. The sauerbraten was so tough and tasteless and the German potato salad was more like paste. Red cabbage was ok. My friend had the bone in ribeye which had good flavor but was over cooked. He asked the waitress if the cook was accurate in cooking steaks and she said steaks were cooked "true". Well, ordering medium rare and getting medium is not true. The one positive was that the old fashions were very tasty. I would still go back to try another dish but not on a Friday nite.

Jack P.

Yelp
Ok, me writing a review of The Lorelei Inn is kind of like asking a kid if they like candy and puppies. I pretty much live at The Lorelei, going there on an average of two times per week. Let me tell you why. The Lorelei is a neighborhood kind of place, yes, my neighborhood, which serves traditional, family recipe, German dishes. They also have a variety of other super club type fair, of which my favorite is either the tenderloin or bone-in ribeye, I can't decide. I guess it depends on my healthy mindset the day of dinning. If you are unfamiliar with the concept of "super club", all I can say is, come to Wisconsin and discover what has been the dining experience of choice, for many who have lived here for years. You can't explain it; you just have to experience it. A couple other must have's on the menu have to be getting a dumpling on the side. Better yet, have two, I always do. These snowballs of heaven are served with German ginger snap gravy which will no doubt make you lick the plate when you are done. The potato pancakes are also a great side to have with anything on the menu. I have to admit, I never order them because I love the dumplings way too much, however, my dining partner always gets the pancakes and I know I can steal some when she is not looking. I hope she's not reading this... The German dishes are terrific. I usually get the Wiener Schnitzel or the Heisse Schlachte Plate, depending on my hunger. The Heisse Schlachte Plate is a ton of food, so make sure you have room for this one. The Wiener Schnitzel comes in two sizes, queen and king, which is basically one or two pieces of veal cuts. Load it up with some sauerkraut and yes, ask for some extra gingersnap gravy to pour over the whole thing. Don't forget to get a side of their red cabbage. This stuff is better than candy and dare i say, puppies too. Lastly, it's important to comment on the whole vibe of this place. It's warm and cozy and feels like home (at least to me). It is a bit smoky for some, but its all part of the charm. The Lorelei has one of the best beer menus in Green Bay and pours the BEST Guinness around (Sorry St. Brenden's). The cocktails here are some of the best mixed around by some of the best bartenders around. This is my favorite place, hence my lengthy applause. If you go, and you should, look for me at the corner of the bar. I'll be the guy chain smoking and drinking gimlets.

Jason S.

Yelp
Prior to the smoking ban, I would have given it 4 stars because it was always very smoky. Now that's no longer an issue. This review is going to be fairly brief. If you like traditional German food, you'll love it here. Last time we ate there, my wife had steamed cod - she said it was the best she ever had. I have to admit that despite the lack of deep-frying, batter, gravy, or cheese sauce, it was really, really good fish. OK, the food is great. Other reviews have said that. When I think of the Lorelei, though, my first thought isn't of the food. It's the atmosphere. This the absolute epitome of a perfect neighborhood joint - a family run place. I love the fact that dad & son are behind the bar, & mom is the hostess. We've gone there to eat many times, but just as many we've gone in the afternoon to just chill & have a few drinks. If we had a local dictionary, when you looked up "cozy", the definition would include the word "Lorelei". Oh yeah...the German chocolate cake. Good Lord, how could I fail to mention this until now. I'm NOT a dessert guy. I'm really not a chocolate guy - but this cake is unreal. Homemade, covered in inches of gooey, carmelly (is that a word?), coconutty (how about this one?) goodness. Last - the beer. It's a German place, after all. I'm a beer guy, so I really appreciate this. They have a really nice selection of import bottles, & several on tap. They always have a Hinterland (local brewery) on tap as well.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
If you want a Guinness, this is the only place to get it done right! In addition to a properly poured Stout, they have a huge selection of beer from all around the world, including local microbrews from right here in Wisconsin. My favorite is the Hinterland Maple Bock which is on tap from around December to March. The bar area is cozy and has a small pub feel. The restaurant is also cozy and can be quite loud on a Friday night. I actually like the atmosphere. When I walk in here, I sometimes feel like I stepped into a local establishment some place in Europe. When I eat here, I order the Rhine Burger which is priced low and pretty delicious. Their Reubens are the reason to eat here however. They are served on dark rye with a side of horseradish. So awesome! This is a great place to have a beer or a night out with friends!

Melissa H.

Yelp
We had a delicious German meal at Lorelei Inn. The beer menu was a hit with my husband. Our waiter was pleasant. The food was very tasty, but not as good as grandma used to make.

Steve M.

Yelp
Let me start with what kind of German restaurant doesn't have a big pretzel appetizer? Are you kidding me? The place has a small parking lot made even worse by the presence of snow drifts. The inside is small warm and comfortable. The beer choice was very good. I ordered the meat plate which had pork loin, sauerkraut, potato dumplings, and sausage on it. Everything was very tasty but I really had a hankering for a pretzel with some mustard. Overall I say the place is worth a visit or two.

Geoff S.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot. Great beer selection, fair prices, and a solid fish fry. Can be crowded at times but always worth the wait. German selections have been good, my favorite is the Fish Fry.

Emily W.

Yelp
I can't comment on the restaurant side of this place, but I really like the bar side of it here! They have a great selection of beers and usually have one from Hinterland on tap. The waitstaff is extremely nice and accommodating. They even sold me a beer to go once because I really liked the bottle. Last time I was here they had a folky sounding band playing which was rather refreshing. (The Green Bay music scene is usually very dull).

Todd L.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and the wait was well worth it! Had a half Reuben - best I've had in years - and a couple of Chimay ales. Not 'echt' German but gemütlich with great food. This is my new favorite place for lunch!

K A.

Yelp
Perfect environment, good music, excellent food and cocktails, great service, highly recommend this place, we will definitely be back

Steve G.

Yelp
German food in Green Bay. A local institution. Come here on a cold winter night and warm up.

Michael H.

Yelp
The service was terrible. We weren't offered any drinks, we had to pull the waitress over to order drinks. I am not usually bothered by noise, but it was so loud it made my ears ring. I was hoping to get a good fish fry. Once we actually got our food, it was pretty delicious . And the drinks were comped for the wait. But not worth the wait.

Judy K.

Yelp
Ordered the $21.95 combo plate. Small portions and not flavorful. Sauerbraten was cold and very tough. Would not go back. No water refills. Expensive for what we got.

Jackiki R.

Yelp
The waitress was amazing! The food could've been better. The chili was good but the special wasn't very special. Cute little place but probably better to come for the drinks.

Ben S.

Yelp
Favorite place to go for a good meal and a "few" good beers! Great atmosphere, great service! Huge selection of beers from around the world. Just a great local pub feeling that can't be found anywhere else in green bay

Sara G.

Yelp
This was our first visit. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. My Guinness beer was drawn perfect. My partner had the rhine burger plate.. good burger and a heaping pile of homemade potato wedges. I had the Rueben plate and it was one of the best Ive had! It was served with horseradish and a house mustard.. very tasty. I also tried the potato dumpling.. it was good but the gravy had a vinegar taste, not what I expected. The place is very small and cozy but LOUD! It was Friday so we were expecting a crowd but we had to forgo talking, just couldnt hear across the tables. The biggest shock came when I got the check- only $18! Good deal! We are definitely coming back.

Tom C.

Yelp
Stopped in for a few pints of Guiness Stout the Sunday after St. Patrick's Day celebration. The pour was very good, but a little spilly and no shamrock. I am getting spoiled at St. Brendan's. This is the third time I've purchased from the woman bartender, and I wonder why they don't just put a mannequin back there. No greeting, no smile, no "thank you," no conversation. I felt sorry for her. Why is she behind the bar and why do I keep coming back? If they don't get a bartender with at least a little charisma, it will be a long time before we return.

Patricia O.

Yelp
This was amazing! Yummy simple good. Great hospitality. Love the red cabbage! This was delicious authentic German food. The schnitzel and potatoes dumplings were comfort food at its best!
