Justin, his wife, and their team have put together a great bar at Lorem Ipsum. Great cocktails, chill space, and the vibe is great (especially once the DJ turns up later in the evening). Staff is friendly and engaging. Having been a fan of Justin's work at Leah & Louise in the past, great to see this venue carrying on that great mixology. Cocktails are $17 (non-alcs at $11), and they have beer and wine too.

This place is an entire vibe. My friends and I arrived early on a Thursday and we were the only customers. However, it was still perfect. The bartender was perfect and thr music was perfect. I will be back.

The hype is real - this place has vibes for days. This bar is moody, neo-soul music personified. Attentive staff and an excellent selection of liquors, too.

I went to Lorem Ipsum a couple of nights ago with two girlfriends and had a great time. I’ll start with the only minor irritation of the evening - we had a reservation for 7, I entered a couple of minutes before seven, waited at the hostess stand, and was never acknowledged. A woman moving around the bar area appeared to make eye contact with me but never said anything. Once my friend entered, we decided to just enter into the bar area and take a table since we hadn’t been acknowledged and that’s when the same woman behind the bar that I’d seen earlier stopped us and asked if we had a res. I didn’t like that. Then she pointed us to a table that had two seats when our res was for three. We asked if we could move a chair over from the next table and she said she would go grab one, but she didn’t grab another chair until after our third friend arrived. She did tell us that she was there alone but honestly that’s not my problem. First impressions are everything and this one turned me off. Thankfully, the rest of the evening was great. Lorem is super vibey and chill. Playlist was love, drinks were tasty, and the atmosphere was quiet enough that we could talk while also vibe to the music. I’d totally come back and hopefully the next time they’re appropriately staffed.

Lorum Ipsum is always a good vibe and great cocktails. Seating can be hit or miss because of the size of the location. Music flow depends on DJ, but it's always a chill,relaxed atmosphere you can enjoy with friends and try their variety of crafted cocktails. Favorites: Sage burner, Rico, and Kind of Blue

Lorem Ipsum is such a vibe and has a great selection of cocktails and drinks . From the DJ, Justin, to the servers—Sekani, Nadira, and others—all of them! It is a smaller space, but it’s sufficient for the crowd that come in and out. I hope they expand and can get space for more people to experience the timeless music and vibes. I also spoke to Patrice, who is very pleasant and co-runs the establishment. Truly, it is a hidden gem in CLT. Great drinks, if I forgot to mention! (Florida water and sage burner are my personal favs).

This is my new favorite spot to bring friends from out of town to show them Charlotte is cooler than they think. There is no food, it's a chill cocktail spot with a variety of listening and visual experiences. I've been twice now and once music was playing and a movie of a concert was up on the projector, the other time it was a black 70s movie and a live dj and I didn't want to leave for dinner it was so good. The presentation of checks is amazing in cd cases which is also a nice touch.

This was a great listening bar it had a really chill vibe. This is a great place to just chill with friends if you don't feel like going home yet. I highlight for me was that they were playing soul train clips and I really love soul train it was a great background to watch and appreciate a part of the Culture.

Went back to the spot because it's such a great vibe. Had dinner earlier and wasn't ready to go home quite yet. Felt like I was in the mood for some good drinks, good company, and really good music, and the spot was able to deliver on all three. Located on Central, it's unassuming, quiet, very friendly, and a really good spot to relax. Enjoy some amazing drinks and fantastic music by the DJ spinning the wheel.

Enjoyed this listening bar! It's super cute inside and the perfect little space to grab cocktails. I walked here after leaving Sip City with a couple friends. I ordered the Robinson which was good and everyone else enjoyed their drinks as well. I loved the digital DJ they project on the wall, it was really cool. The decor and design is gorgeous with comfy seating as well as the dim lighting. My one complaint was that it was uncomfortably hot for drinking and I wish they had a bit of air blowing along with the windows being open. Overall a great experience and I will go back again!

Make sure you use the address vs name or you'll end up in South Carolina! After rolling all the way out there, the trip was soooo worth it! JUST the vibe these California visitors were looking for. Warm welcome, delicious strong drinks, low lights, great music, cool atmosphere, comfy...didn't wanna leave & will return!

My husband and I stopped by the other day for drinks before dinner and Loren Ipsum is a nice little cozy spot. It gives house party vibes where the lighting is moody and there's music playing loud enough to hear but not disrupt conversation. Plenty of seating options inside and outside although it is small inside. We ordered a few drinks to try and it was a mixed bag. Oldie - like an old fashion but calmer and just very good! (5/5) Gin salted - unfortunately tasted like herbal salted (high on the salted part!) water. I was not a fan and don't recommend. (1/5) High fall - sweet (not super sweet tho) tasty cocktail almost like honey. (4/5) Dark daisy - also not a fan. Wasn't terrible but not nearly as good as oldie and high fall. (2/5) Service was polite and helpful. The only issue that we had was that at first we were told that they were closing early for an event at 6:30 pm and if we wanted to, we could continue drinking on the patio. This was told by a female waiter. But then maybe 15 minutes later, another waiter (around 6:10ish) stopped by to repeat the same message but more so like okay you need to close out or move outside now. We were quite confused and didn't appreciate the mixed messages we were receiving. However the place is very new and we would stop by again as we did enjoy our experience before that incident occurred.

If you're looking for a nice, low key spot to vibe at in Charlotte, this is a place that you should try. The ambiance is very moody; low lighting, chill music and a video of some sort projected onto the wall. They have a drink menu with prices ranging from 10-16$, and I can say that the mixed drinks are pretty strong. They do have an outdoor patio, but because I went on a cold night I didn't go out there. I'm sure the music does filter out there, but I can't say for sure. Although it's a small space, it makes for a more intimate setting if you're looking to get away from the club scene and section buying lol. It's a great spot to go on a date night, or for a night out with your friends. 10/10 would recommend!

Talk about a vibe inside ! This is such a cool spot ! Definetly somewhere you would want to take a first date ! I love the concept of it being a listening bar & you can even bring your own vinyl . Lorem Ipsum is located inside of a hotel in the plaza Midwood area called Refugee . Inside is a very dim setting with relaxing music from Lo fi to Luther Vandross & all the great's. Theirs also an outside patio area . One thing I thought was very cool is the server brings your check in a cd case. I recommend anyone looking for grown laid back dates vibes this is the place to be.

Everyone has already said this place is a vibe. And they are right! What this place lacks in space, makes up for in depth. You feel warm, cozy, and so relaxed. Bring your vinyl and your eagerness to haveca cocktail or two. Check it out!

Lorem Ipsum (listening bar) is nothing less of a vibe(!) No reservations, first come first served. Visited for a girls night out. The cozy bar can found inside boutique hotel 'Hotel Refuge'. Gives similar vibes from Janet Jackson's video 'That's The Way Love Goes'. Our wait was about 30 minutes on a Saturday. Perfect date night spot, many two seat tables and sections. Music was laid back and more of a neo soul flow, loved it! Unique cocktail list, first choice was 'Dark Daisy' but it was out so we decided on 'Robinson' and 'In Salted'. The server was helpful with us making our decisions. Excited to see many people waiting to check on the location. Will definitely be visiting again!

Lorem Ipsum was the relaxed, grown and sexy vibe that we needed for my friend's 45th birthday. Small and intimate, the bar doesn't have a lot of space, but it's comfortable and chill. The timeless classic "Coming to America" was being shown from a projector, while the DJ was playing a mix of old school and new school R&B. The drinks were strong, and the servers were extremely attentive. At first, I thought it was too low key for my friend after dinner - she reminded me "this is perfect! We're getting old!" I'll definitely head back to Lorem Ipsum, but until then happy eating!

Cute lounge with great music. I enjoyed the drinks but was a little sad there was no food or snack options. However, will definitely be back as all the staff was friendly and accommodating.

Definitely one of the best pop-up bars in Charlotte. It's got a laid-back and sultry atmosphere and blends in well with the boutique Hotel Refuge where it's located. I'd never experienced a listening bar before and I might be hooked. Service was excellent, however, I went on a weeknight right when the bar opened so it was very intimate. I appreciate that vibe more than a crowded space. It definitely gets busy on the weekends. Parking is available in the lot behind the hotel and La Autentica. Justin Hazelton has curated an excellent cocktail list and I adore that you receive your bill in CD cases. Brilliant and a nice touch!

Met up with my girls at Lorem Ipsum.bar on Friday. We instantly loved the atmosphere of this listening bar. The listening bar is the perfect before the event or after the brunch spot. It is a great middle ground for those who want to step out with friends for a picturesque night out. They even have alcohol free cocktails! The music was at a volume that filled the room but it didn't kill the conversations. No food on the menu yet. This spot holds about 30-45 seats with the option to sit at the bar, at a tab, outside, or on a love seats for more of a coffee shop type vibe. Lorem Ipsum merges all the things you love about Charlotte area bars into one spot - friendly/amazing bartenders, cozy atmosphere, and great music (Shazammed at least 10 songs while there!). The music was a mix of old school r&b, lo-fi jazz, and soul. The drink menu has something for everyone. While there, I had their "oldie" and the "in salted". Lorem Ipsum will definitely be added to my rotation and I look forward to returning soon.

What a find! Quietly tucked away in the lobby of the chic but unassuming Hotel Refuge, Lorem Ipsum is the perfect respite from the "busyness" of Plaza Midwood during the day or a chill spot to hideaway by yourself or to bring a (very special) date at night. Chill vibe. Minimalist but intentional decor. Terrific music (which the owner, mixologist Justin Hazelton, took a hands on approach to at the turntables)--a delightful mix of r&b, funk, soul & jazz. And of course, the drinks are fantastic as well. I mean...it's a cocktail bar. I had the "In Salted" which is spiritless but I asked the mixologist to add rosé. The bathroom for patrons is actually located inside the fully furnished Room One of the handful of hotel rooms. Love that. Plus episodes of the sitcom Martin were playing on the wall! This place is so dope, I low key kinda didn't even want to review it. Lol! But keeping it a secret would be an insult to this unique concept.
