The Best Restaurants in Spokane, Washingston | Eater Seattle

"This French-inspired basement social club has more than just a magnificent menu. Owner Juli Norris had dreams of couples walking through Riverfront Park with a date night destination, and she made that dream come true. The lush deep purple and black interior and sofa-lined entry scream serenity, while the food and drink are delicately designed for explosion — from fougasse and legume fettuccine to a French onion soup that you’ll never forget." - Kris Kilduff

Wow- what an incredible experience! Every bite was perfection! Service was so attentive and kind. They definitely made my birthday feel special and the ganache dessert was divine! Chicken was cooked perfectly, halibut and scallop chowder was next level, martini was fresh and yummy. Atmosphere was moody and chic, loved the decor and overall vibe. Would definitely return, hopefully soon!

Our experience was phenomenal to say the least! The executive chef went above and beyond and prepared a vegetarian gluten-free meal for me that was off menu to accommodate my dietary needs. It was a vegetable risotto that was absolutely unbelievable! We are so pleased that we will be back again in no time. I highly recommend this restaurant!

A very nice place to hangout with friends or to go for a date. The staff are very welcoming and attentive and the food is amazing! We had two appetizers, one was grilled carrots with goat cheese, and the other was fried calamari and lemon slices [mind blowing]. It was my first time trying fried lemon and now I'm obsessed. The main courses were delicious and well seasoned. As for the dessert, the first bite had interesting flavors. But the more you bite into it, the more the combination in flavors makes perfect sense. Very pleased. Will definitely come again.

Stopped by Lorén for dinner to get out of the heat and it was incredible. Not only was it actually chill down there (their AC is working!) but the drinks, ambiance and food were the perfect way to end a summers night. We started off with the calamari and fougasse, then ordered the filet and scallops and ended with a crème brûlée for our anniversary. We felt very VIP. Food, service and cocktails were all 10/10. Will come here to get out of the sun any day!

✨A birthday dinner to remember.✨ We messaged the owner ahead, hoping for something vegan — and the chef went above and beyond. An off-menu lentil loaf made just for my brother. Thoughtful, flavorful, and seriously appreciated. 🙌 What We Ordered at Lorèn: • Burrata – creamy perfection with roasted grapes & grilled focaccia • Bistro Salad – butter lettuce, candied walnuts, herbs, and 1836 olive oil vinaigrette • Rouge Salad – arugula, pickled beets, whipped goat cheese, citrus, pistachios • Lorèn Beef Burger – espresso bacon jam, black garlic aioli, butter leaf, and gorgonzola. Served with fries and major flavor. • French Onion Soup – God tier. That rich broth & melty cheese? Worth the hype. • Espresso Martini – bold, smooth, and perfectly balanced • Fly Me to the Moon – a cocktail with charm (and a glittery plane ✈️) • Semifreddo Dessert – rich, chocolatey, decadent • Off-menu vegan lentil loaf – made just for my brother’s birthday. Totally custom, totally appreciated. A thoughtful gesture from the chef that made the night extra special. Lorèn isn’t just dinner — it’s a vibe.

To say that this exquisite restaurant is gorgeous, elegant and romantic is an understatement!! To say that the ambience is graced with the most wonderful and refined intimacy is an understatement!! To say that the staff is amazing, friendly and kind-hearted is an understatement!! My wife and I were here for dinner and it was absolutely amazing in every way!! The ambience was romantic, relaxed, elegant and exquisite!! We had the most wonderful dining experience and everyone there was amazing!! If you're ever fortunate enough to have Jamie as your server when you're here, then you're going to have a even more wonderful dining experience!! She was very sweet, helpful when we were deciding on what we wanted to order, friendly and outgoing!! What a wonderful young lady!! It felt like being in Paris!! Jamie helped me to select and pair an amazing French Chardonnay with the succulent Halibut that I ordered!! The citrus, pear, butter and bright acidity of the Chardonnay paired perfectly with the flakiness and delicate texture of the Halibut along with the soft, lemony creaminess of the sauce that accompanied it! We will definitely be back again soon and will request Jamie!! She's a doll!! :-)

Decided to reserve a table for Valentine’s Day to give Lorèn a try. We showed up a few minutes before our reservation but were seated immediately. Our waitress Kristie was wonderful from start to finish. We ordered from the Mon Amour (Valentine’s Day limited) menu. For appetizers: my wife had the salad and I had the duck confit. The salad was very fresh and well balanced with a tasty vinaigrette. The duck confit was a unique take as the duck meat was removed from the leg bone and used in a sort of puff pastry pie, very tasty. Dinner: my wife had Dungeness crab stuffed fresh pasta - the pasta was delicately shaped into a rose bud. She absolutely loved it. The pasta was perfectly cooked. I had the filet mignon on a sort of shaved potato side (think scalloped but finer) topped with a lobster tail (this was an add-on that I had to have). Both the lobster and steak were perfectly cooked. Post dinner/pre desert: I asked Kristie if we could order a side of scallops off the main menu because my wife LOVES scallops and we wanted to try them. She obliged us and the scallops were out quickly. THEY WERE THE BEST SCALLOPS WE’VE EVER HAD! Desert: my wife had the beignets with berries and lavender whip. The beignets were fresh and fluffy! The lavender whip was a thoughtful complement to the sweet powdered sugar of the beignets. I had the chocolate truffles that were topped with salty almost candied pistachios. Again, a thoughtful pairing of the rich, sweet chocolate and sharp, salty pistachios. Sorry - don’t have pics of the appetizers - we were starving and dig right in! And honestly, the pictures don’t do justice anyway. The only slight complaint - I would love for a slightly quieter atmosphere. Just turn down the music volume to match to lighting and ambience. Otherwise - a delightful evening of fine dining with excellent service!

Yelp
Kinda difficult to find the first time, the entrance to Lorèn is on the southeast corner of the building that also houses the Kasa Taphouse. Lorèn is easily walkable from the Spokane Arena and the Podium. Street parking can be a challenge on an evening full of events. Loren's ambience is sophisticated and urban, but emitting friendliness and warmth from the staff. Our server was patient, knowledgeable, and professional. We brought our own bottle of Barrister wine, which was served in a decanter and at the end of our dinner, our server poured it back into our bottle to take home. (Note: $25 corkage fee for non-wine club members). The menu is totally ala carte in pricing. I had the Bread and Burrata salad which was divine, almost a meal in itself. My companion had the Bistro salad with butter lettuce which he asserted was the best salad he had ever had! For our entrees, I had the sea scallops which were cooked to perfection. They are served on a bed of Parmesan risotto, which was a bit heavy for my taste. The filet was my companion's choice. It was cooked to perfection, but unfortunately, it was on the cold side. My companion is not one to complain, but he decided to mention this to our server, who immediately brought over the manager to our table. The manager was very accommodating and friendly. She took the plate and had the chef prepare a new serving of filet. We shared a crème brûlée for dessert. We will return and will recommend Lorèn to others. The ambience, friendliness from entire staff, the professionalism, service, and the food make up for the higher prices and any specific problems with menu items. I look forward to trying something different on my next visit!! We were there on a Saturday. Make a reservation several days in advance!

Yelp
Finding this place is a bit of a challenge, but so worth the effort. The atmosphere of Lorèn is fantastic, the food and service (thank you Dimitri) are top notch. We started with the House Fougasse with carmelized garlic and honey Brie butter. Next we shared the Bread & Burratta, both delicious. For entrees we tried the Pasta Ala Champignon and Jarret d'agneau. The pastas was done perfect al dente, and the sauce was delicious. The braised lamb shank was fall off the bone tender. This place is a must whenever we're in Spokane

Yelp
Swanky, sexy, European-style underground bistro w/incredible service (thank you, Jamie!). We chose the recommended cocktails, clams, and lamb dish to share which was perfect for night on the town, progressive dinner style. We left utterly satisfied yet longing for more. Absolutely delicious with adaptations for DF /GF.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday and had a great night. Service was amazing; food was delicious and the drinks were even better. It's a dark, moody atmosphere, worth the pricey menu!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a little bit now and I am glad we finally made it down! My sister and I went together for a much needed night out without husbands or kids and we thought this would be a great place to do it! The atmosphere: this place is located in the basement. The only way to get down there that we saw was the elevator. You walk out and behind these dark curtains is the restaurant. The decor is very hip and inviting. It's dark and intimate. They did a great job at making this the perfect date night. The atmosphere screams upscale (and the prices), but the guests there ranged from very casual to dressy, but not formal. So, if there is a dress code, it's not enforced. Service: We received service right away. When we got there it was only us and one other table, so the service was prompt. As the night went on, and the tables filled, that did shift a little. However, it wasn't terrible. Food: My sister and I both started with a salad. I got the Bistro and she got the Heirloom Tomato & Burrata. My salad had a great flavor, but I think it was a little on the salty side even with the candied nuts, and there was a little too much dressing. However, I did still enjoy it. My sister loved her salad and had no complaints. For our entrees we both did the Halibut. The halibut was herb crusted and while the fish was cooked perfectly, the crust was a bit too done on the bottom, which made it hard to cut. The flavor was really good, but my fish was a little too salty for me and the veggies had a smidge too much pepper. I would eat it again though. We got the beignets for dessert and they were so sad. It was like eating a ravioli covered in powdered sugar. They were flat and doughy. Not light, fluffy, and airy with a little crispy outside like a traditional beignet. We couldn't eat them. The berries they served them with didn't help the situation either. It was just a big fail. All in all it was a fun experience with decent food! I'm not sure I would go back, but I'm glad I finally tried it!

Yelp
If you are looking for a unique and elevated dining experience make your reservation at Lorèn. It is a French inspired Restaurant and Social Club, located underground the Papillon Building. We had been looking forward to visiting and enjoyed every moment. Aesthetics, vibe, staff, chef, plating design, flavors... so many green flags I wish I could date the restaurant Dophine- vodka, black cherry, lime and basil Rouge - beets, cambozola. grilled bread. candied walnuts. hot honey vinaigrette. balsamic Heirloom Tomato & Burrata -pickled beets, stone fruit, arugula, lemon basil vinaigrette, balsamic, crispy prosciutto Grilled Pork Chop- gratin dauphinois, carrot citrus puree, raspberry balsamic puree Fried Calamari - lemon, truffle aioli. crispy basil. Pan seared Fresh Diver Sea Scallops- parmesan risotto, parm crisp, rouille, chive oil Plateau de Desserts - chef's assortment (parfait, eclair, flourless chocolate)

Yelp
Attended Loren after reading about their opening. The bistro is located a short stroll from the Spokane Arena and the Civic Theater.. Reservations are a must. The bistro is underground and can be reached using the ground floor elevator. The ambiance is upscale and business casual dress is required. I started with a glass of pinot noir and the French onion soup, which was delicious. The main course was seared scallops. The lovely presentation of the dish was matched by it's subtle flavor. I enjoyed the main course with a glass of champagne. The dessert course was the chocolate ice cream and cappuccino. The service was friendly and attentive. The whole experience was deeply satisfying. I was very glad I came.

Yelp
Was excited to try this place out from all the reviews and pictures I seen. Unfortunately it didn't not live up to the expectations. Drinks weren't good, and they took forever. It was slow night at that. Food was way too salty. And they were out of handful of their items from their menu.

Yelp
Trust me, this is not your standard brunch experience. The ambience is warm and inviting, the drinks are creatively crafted, and the food makes you want to savor every bite. I highly recommend the daily pastries, Eggs Benedict (served on a croissant muffin), and Papillon 75 to drink! Everything was delicious.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance, feels like a wine cellar. I enjoyed the wine selection and the food was really well made.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for the first time for our monthly dinners. Everyone loved the dish they got for dinner. I ordered the Wagyu Shortrib & Mushrom Agnolotti and loved the flavors and everything in it. For dessert, I got the crème brûlée and it was just okay. Service was very good and our waiter was super nice. We had reservations at 5pm on a week day so it wasn't super busy. It was hard to find once I parked and there wasn't any signs, so I had to walk around the whole building before finding the door that would lead me downstairs to Loren. Atmosphere is good. The tables are pretty close together as it is not a huge space to begin with. The good was good and I would definitely come back to try other items on their menu.

Yelp
I have to ask what all the hype is about for this restaurant? Had dinner here for my birthday with my partner, we both had fancy cocktail which was good, ordered calamari which was nothing to brag about being as they were just the inexpensive, ( but expensive) little circles fried with some sauce. Our next course was the filet mignon, it was market price which was $69! Our waitress said "that is going for 69$ how would you like it cook", without even giving us a second to maybe change our minds if we wanted too. My partner ordered his med rare and feels like he was picking worms out of it. I had mine med, it was cook nicely with no worms or whatever it was he was pulling from his steak. The problem both of us had was it was laden with way too much sauce and creamy stuff! A good steak doesn't really need anything. And for 69$ I expect that to be the best piece of meat I've ever had,.... It wasn't! And that's all that was on the plate, no veggies, nothing, just a rolled up cheese blob on top. We dont mind spending high dollar but the food but it better be quality! We will not be back. The atmosphere is nice but not worth the $300 we dropped. Disappointed as I've heard nothing but good things about Loren's, I'm beginning to think everyone's taste buds are perverted!!! I'm giving this 2 stars only based on service and ambience. Food gets a 1!

Yelp
The food was awesome. Really nice ambience. And the best service I've ever had on a restaurant, our server was the sweetest woman. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
(Repost from instagram but I figured if I took the time to type this all out I might as well add it to Yelp) I booked the group room here for a friend's birthday well in advance. We showed up for our reservation on time, and the room wasn't ready. They kept us waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes in the lobby. They brought us drinks and said the drinks and our appetizers would be on the house to apologize for the wait. Eventually, they seated us in the main dining area with two tables pushed together -- definitely not the special atmosphere we had planned. They again apologized and said desert would be on the house. At the end of the night, they brought the bill and literally nothing was comp'd. Not the drinks, not the appetizers, not the dessert. Nothing. It was definitely not the type of service I would expect for a place at this price point. Unfortunately, it's too expensive for me to want to want to give it a second chance and risk this type of experience again. Sadly, don't recommend.

Yelp
Went to dinner for the first time after hearing such good things.... Well this place did not disappoint. It's a small hidden gem with amazing food. We were greeted right away and sat within minutes(we did have a reservation which I highly recommend doing). The low light gave such a relaxing and romantic vibe. The food melts in your mouth and wakes the palate up with such amazing flavor. I would say try this place for your next special event as it is perfect!

Yelp
I've been here a few times now and it never disappoints! The food is so incredibly delicious and has strong flavors. The atmosphere is very stylish and cool. They have a secret room in the restaurant the surprised me when I saw people entering. Their filet is divine and I love their white bean hummus. Great selection of wines and their cocktails are extravagant too. They also do live music nights on some Tuesdays. Definitely recommend for a special night or just to eat good food.

Yelp
Really cool space and decor. Not really anywhere else like it in Spokane. The food was pretty good too-- we particularly the soup du jour and beet salad, and the duck (a special that night) was great. I will say my fiancée's lamb shank could've had a little more flavor. The bete noire dessert was great although, suspiciously, frozen. Service was good but it was hard for us to hear each other because the acoustics are poor and the tables close together. Plus they have music going at volume. It actually all adds to the ambiance but don't expect to be having intimate conversations. Honestly I am being a little generous with five stars but they just opened so some working out of kinks is expected. We will come back for sure

Yelp
What an awesome spot!! Great ambiance, thoughtful service and killer menu. Executed very well. Wife had perfectly cooked filet, I had the yummy airline chicken. Chicken was served with a paprika vinaigrette, absolutely delicious. Kristie was our on point server. Thank you all!!

Yelp
It was great! Not a kid restaurant more romantic dinners for 2 or groups of friends. Bar tender is wonderful and everything we ordered was amazing.

J S.

Yelp
Excellent food Great service Nice to have great restaurant in Spokane But difficult to make reservations

Randy B.

Yelp
We loved ambience, it was very nice and intimate. The food was absolutely delicious. My wife had the airline chicken, I had the Alfredo. It was all so good. Our waitress was very good. She took care of us without being in the way. I highly recommend this place. We will be back.

Yelp
Beautiful photos online. read a lot of good reviews, but this place isn't going to last long, too many people too close together.... It's not family friendly I would never take my kids here. This place is more like a bar than a restaurant.

Yelp
The atmosphere is special in itself. The old historic building the restaurant is in is beautiful, and Loren is located in the basement where they created a very intimate feeling starting with the velvet curtains you pass through to get into the restaurant. The food was delicious. The four of us all had different dishes, and everyone was happy with what they got. My favorite was the edamame fettuccine. My husband had the halibut and it was cooked perfectly. For sides we ordered the garlic bread that had lemon zest in the butter spread along with roasted garlic, and the frites that were seasoned well along with a balsamic dip. Those were both good as well! The waitress we had was kind, attentive, and helpful. We had a great experience.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance, delicious food, exceptional service! Went on a date night. We especially loved our cocktails.

Malinda W.

Yelp
The BEST food I have had in Spokane in a long time. The ambiance is incredible. The portion sizes are perfect! The filet was so delicious. Perfectly crafted. The calamari is so good- the crispy lemons in it were incredible. The scallops were tender and well-seasoned. Wonderful to have somewhere to have an elevated, upscale meal. Sensational!!!!!! You have to try it.

Jim A.

Yelp
Great service. Great selection of drinks and food. Everything was prepared wonderfully. Really loved the decor.

Yelp
This brand new restaurant is quite luxurious! We had two appetizers, an entree each (the filet mignon), along with dessert. Each dish was unique and delicious. The ambience was lovely, as were the staff. We would recommend Loren to anyone looking for a special experience.

Steven G.

Yelp
Look... If you want a family restaurant, go to Denny's... This is an upscale adult high-end eatery for those who cultivate and appreciate excellent cuisine... I am from New Orleans and have eaten at restaurants in over 20 countries, and this place is definitely at the top 5 of the list for the variety of choices , preparation, presentation and the entire dining experience... Excellent hand crafted cocktails are a superb complement Definitely a comeback ... Steve from New Orleans

Dan H.

Yelp
Food snd service was wonderful. The decor was a little dark but you get used to that.

Chris P.

Yelp
Everything was perfect, from the drinks and appetizers to the entrée. The decor and ambiance were very warm and friendly. Our service was excellent as well and I would recommend Loren to my friends and family.

Yelp
Went there for a birthday dinner. We made reservations at 6:45pm on the 20th and informed them about my birthday . Ambiance was very cool, but we sat next to the entrance. Service wasn't very good. They did not do anything to celebrate my birthday
