A Guide to the Pop-Ups of Greater Boston | Eater Boston

"A hand-held savory pastry operation crafting empanadas filled with vegetables and meats and finished with house-made sauces; the team is planning a Bow Market shop while continuing to vend at various take-away vendors and announcing pop-up dates via Facebook events." - Dana Hatic

Google
SO GOOD! I’ve never had empanadas that tasted as fresh and delicious! Perfectly crisped on the outside, flaky dough, and just the right amount of cheese and fillings. The staff was so friendly, and the food was out fast! I thought at first that the prices were too high for a single empanada, but the quality blew me away. Just enough outdoor seating, plenty of parking. We’ll be back!

Google
Ok, so....I am addicted to this place!!The empanadas are all so good! They are made to order right in front of you...all of the sauces are great too.I live too far but I would have to go everyday! Javi is so nice and I actually met the owner and she is fantastic! I can't wait to go back as soon as I can🥰

Google
It’s unfortunate that 2 bad reviews ruined a perfect score… of course it’s a fried empanada! And a damn good one. I’ve had the chicken, beef and bbq chicken and they never disappoint. Highly recommend getting a plate so it’s paired with the beans and the fresh Chilean salad. Oh & definitely get yourself a bag of fries! This food is all hand prepped, nothing frozen. Happy to have supported a local business and beyond heartbroken she will be closing up shop for good this month :(

Heading out of Ogunquit last weekend & made a pit stop at Lorena’s Empanadas in Cape Neddick for some mouthwatering Chilean eats. I tried the empanada plate with beans and salad, & the apple empanada was to die for!!

This Chilean treasure tucked in off the main street is so perfect for a quick bite to eat or take out. Talking about Chile and travels there with the owner was something I'll cherish as a Chilean living in the USA. The empanada was perfecto with the freshly made salsa, beans and Chilean salad. There was barely a moment without incoming customers, even on a rainy day.

Google
Delicious! Had to choose only one flavor, and I got the carnitas. Excellently seasoned pork with cheese wrapped in a flakey golden crust. Nice size, piping hot it was gone almost before I could get a picture. My only hesitation is the price. A single empanada was a bit over $8 (including tax). They were SO delicious, I could easily eat $32 worth.

Lorena’s Empanadas is a yummy slice of Chile right in York, Maine! The empanadas are so amazing, delicious and fresh. The owner Lorena is so kind and nice. Javi is the best! He will take good care of you and he is a great cook! The atmosphere is friendly, warm and cozy. I can’t wait to go back! 🇨🇱❤️😊

Google
Just tried the pork and shrimp empanadas based on the 4.9 rating. The pork one was doughy and undercooked with little pork in it. The shrimp one was ok not a lot of flavor or stuffing. More dough than anything. I don’t see it. They have one thing to do and could be great. Service was ok just gone person taking the order and then making it. Cute little shack.

Yelp
So delicious! I got the shrimp empanadas. They were made fresh to order. Shrimp was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning. Service was fast & friendly. There is no AC so takeout is best on a hot day. Highly recommend!!!!

Yelp
My husband and I have passed here so many times and always said we wanted to stop in, and we finally did! We were greeted by Javi who had a big smile on his face and offered up suggestions on what to get. We each got a cheese empanada and then I got mushroom and my husband got the pork. They were DELICIOUS! Authentic Chilean empanadas made to order, they offer different sauces to dip in too. We ordered a red pepper aioli and the cilantro lime crema, both incredible. The entire time we were there was beautiful Latino music playing. It was the perfect lunch - we will be back ASAP to visit Javi and Lorena!

Yelp
Beware of several fake 5 star reviews (most reviewers only have one review on record and no photo) I was quite disappointed with the empanadas. The oil temperature in their fryer is too low. My empanadas were soggy and soaked in oil. Each bite resulted in oil dripping down my face and on the plate. I had the beef empanada and it was way too cheesy. I really felt gross eating these and left much of it over. They were quite expensive and I was surprised by the additional charge for the tiny cup of salsa. The tomatoes were not enjoyable, I've had this Chilean salad elsewhere and it was better.

Yelp
I ordered the Beef empanadas. The spices were perfect, not hot. I've had Argentinian, Brazilian, Puerto Rican, and Mexican Empanadas. Lorena's Chilean empanadas excels in taste above many! I would comeback again. Excellent service!

Yelp
I finally got a chance to try Lorena's Empanadas and I was not disappointed at all. The owner, Lorena, was there, cooking away. The staff is friendly. I ordered the cheese and meat empanadas with a side of chili sauce. The empanadas were made right then and there and were fresh and hot. When I got home to eat them, the dough was crisp and not overcooked. The meat was a little spicy but not crazy hot and delicious. The cheese empanada was equally delicious and the sauce was a nice touch - just the right amount of spice. I highly recommend going here - you will NOT be disappointed!

Yelp
great empanadas, good service, small place, ideally suited for takeout. some outdoor seating.

Yelp
Every time we are in York , we get some empanadas here. We like the Chicken, Shrimp, and Mushroom, and can't decide which sauce we like better so we get one of each. The empanadas are fried right before serving, and we think the pastry dough is flaky. We haven't been bothered by the level of oil after frying as some have mentioned. We get a lot of latin American takeout, this is the only place we get empanadas

Yelp
Everywhere we travel my Chilean American hubby insists we search for Chilean restaurants. Lorenna's Empanadas and churros with manjar(chilean caramel sauce) were a very welcome treat. We tried so many flavors each one better than the next. With authentic chilean spice blend, merquen, these empanadas are top notch. we had ours with traditional pebre (mild salsa) and a scrumptious cilantro cream sauce. Our son's top pick was the bbq pulled pork special, hubby loved the beef, and i especially enjoyed the spices in the chicken as well as the brisket special. Owner, Lorenna and her Employee of the year, Javi were a joy to chat with and the cute cafe shop set up was perfect for a quick lunch. Viva Chile

Yelp
Beware? I have written many reviews and I moved from CA to Maine. These are the real thing and they are excellent. The owners are great, service is fast and after going there many times, I e never been disappointed. A+

Yelp
The empanadas were delicious and reasonably priced. Minimal seating, but we were OK at the counter. It was nice that it was open in the winter, when lots of places in beach towns are closed.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious empanadas. I love that they offer sweet and savory both. The dough is simply delicious - flakey and tasty for sure. You can certainly see the ethnicity of Chile in every bite. If you haven't tried these...it's a MUST!!!

Yelp
Hands down best flavors on this side of the country. It has been a long time since I have experienced food that brings me to a place in time. EXCELLENT. Great, fast service. Cute little blue building with great music playing. Stop by, you will not be sorry! The salad is simple and amazing (thin sliced tomato, onion and cilantro) with omg, the best lemon/lime dressing. The beans are the best I have ever had. The empanadas (I had the shrimp) I have no words because I couldn't stop eating it long enough to form any. It's crispy and flaky and soft. Delectable. Good prices too!

Peg H.

Yelp
Lorena's Empanadas are delicious!!!! I had a shrimp and a mushroom empanada. The beans are amazing. Go try an empanada. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
If I could not give any stars, I would, but I have to give at least one because of the customer service .It's a cute little place the man who greeted us was very nice but when we looked at the prices they were bit high but wanted to try out the place so we order a meal it came with 2 empanadas, a little tomato salad and beans. But when we receive the meal, the tomato salad was bland no seasoning literally only sliced tomatoes a few thinly sliced onions on top and two little pieces of cilantro. Not sure you can really call that a salad and the beans weren't that flavorful didn't have much salt to them very bland nothing special, and it was just a little scoop of beans nothing to rave about, when it came to eating the empanadas, they were very very greasy as soon as I bit into them the grease was falling out of them literally made a puddle of grease in the to go container they should've drained the grease better would not go back here at all !! for the whole little meal that it was $18 was NOT worth it very high priced and you do not get much portion at all. 7$ for just ONE regular sized empanada is just crazy i've gone to other places and gotten empanadas. I can get the same empanada size with great ingredients is great maybe two or three dollars each seven dollars is outrageous for one.

Yelp
Delicious fresh food. The empanadas were outstanding. Loved the homemade salsa and chips. Good rum punch. Busy. Not enough staff but very attentive and knowledgeable. So glad we went. The beef empanadas were great as were the chicken. Two of us got Shrimp empanadas and they were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Please make this a restaurant it's sooooo good
