The Restaurant is fantastic! The food is amazing, especially the special A with pupusas – super delicious! And don't miss out on the tamales de pollo; they're a must-try. But what truly made our experience exceptional was Luis' service. He's incredibly friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to make our dining experience special. Highly recommend!

Google
I’d give this place an 11 if I could. Found outdoor seating at 1 on a Sunday afternoon, and staff was very friendly (proper friendly, not Mission district nonchalant hipster friendly) to us and our large dog. Received chips and salsa right after we sat down. Ordered a pupusa plate and chile relleno, both solid. Pupusas (1 pork and 1 chipotle) were tasty and had great texture, side guac was chunky and fresh, beans were hot and comforting, and fried plaintains were best I’ve had in the city. Wife’s chile relleno was also best I’ve tasted in the city, and many places in Mexico. You could actually taste the pepper on it’s own in all it’s smoky goodness, not to mention the balance with the cheese inside and sauce on top. With beers and a good tip, lunch was just over $50 for 2. I couldn’t believe it.

Like most reviews have said: folks here are genuinely friendly and helpful. My wife and I wanted some pupusas late at night and were wonderfully greeted by the lone server running the place. Wow, great pupusas! We ordered the pupusa plate that came with 2 pupusas and could barely finish it between the two of us. All ingredients are made in-house (yes, the refried beans are of their own recipe!). We were floored by the general flavor and quality of our food. The prices were also very reasonable and affordable (for SF) considering the food quality. As a note, the free chips & salsa is nice, but the salsa runs closer to a tomato soup flavor than a salsa. Their cocktails are also not anything to write home about (you're better off ordering a beer). Parking, like most of SF, metered street parking. We would come back the next time we have a pupusa craving, because these are the best in the Mission, hands down.

Google
Delicious Pupusas and a great atmosphere, especially love the outdoor seating. They offer so many vegan options and a bright, welcoming dining experience. The salsa and curtido (cabbage) are so fresh and flavorful here, it’s my favorite in the city. I highly recommend this spot for any time of day! The owner was so humble and kind, great service from Miguel and Luis. The whole staff is super sweet and kind. They have inclusive all-gender and well-kept bathrooms too.

Google
I tried their mariscada. Decent size bowl of soup with a large chunk of fish, though there are several technical errors. Pro: 1. The seafood is fresh, no fishy smell/taste 2. The fish chunk is large 3. The egg yolk adds another layer of flavor 4. It’s made to order, not out of a canned or a large stock pot Con 1. The soup is way too watery. The aroma and flavor are weak 2. Soft boiled egg wasn’t properly cooked. The egg white blends with the soup and ruins the seafood aroma. 3. They didn’t deboned and skinned the fish. The soup’s flavor was weak and the fish was slightly over cooked because of that 4. They should’ve debone and skinned the fish, use the bone to cook the broth, and add the fish meat in it a few minutes before it’s ready. That’ll result in more flavorful broth and more tender fish. 5. The scallop is way too small and cheapens the soup. They should either use a bigger/more expensive scallop or take it out entirely. It doesn’t add anything to the dish.

Google
Pupusas were really good and large. Ordered 3 but would've been full with 2, along with our calamari, which was also done well with a light batter and the insides still tender and flavorful. Recommend trying the pork pupusa and loroco pupusa (floral buds). Skip the 'Cola Champagne' drink as it's just orange flavoured soda. Service was great, they proactively asked if we wanted more tortilla chips!

Google
It's definitely fancy and the portions are small and fancy which threw me off lol. None the less the pupusas were delicious and that Salvadoran horchata was the best I've had in 10+ years, I ordered 2 lol. I would definitely give it a shot. Our waiter was great and the food was fresh and in a timely manner. Very clean location and spacious

Google
Great portions, good price, wide variety of Salvadoran & Mexican food, something for Vegetarians & Vegans, lively crowd, inside and outside. Close to the 16th & Mission Bart station and easy to find parking. Friendly staff, filled our waters without us asking, same with chips and salsa.

Angie Y.

Yelp
I ordered one revueltas - cheese, beans, and pork corn pupusas, one queso con hongos y ajo - cheese with mushrooms and garlic rice pupusas, and the fried plantains. The pupusas were tasty and really filling, and satisfying. I preferred the corn dough, as the rice dough was a bit crumbly, but the rice did have a nice crunch on the outside. The fillings were equally yummy: cheesy and flavorful. I do wish the mushroom filling had more mushrooms though. The plantains were scrumptious: slightly sweet, crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. It paired nicely with the crema as well, which tasted a bit like yogurt.

Yelp
4.5/5 Excellent pupusa spot. It didn't get a 5/5 because I've definitely had ridiculously delicious pupusas in Los Angeles, but this place knows what they're doing. I also get them for 50% $$ less in LA, but these are worth the price! The service is efficient and they are kind. It has a bar at the entrance of the restaurant, and plenty of seating in there too. It looks like a nice and clean establishment. The neighborhood makes it tough to want to stop by, but this place deserves more love if it doesn't get it already. For almost $20 you get a nice meal with delicious plantain and pupusas. They even have the cabbage toppings and tomato sauce to go with it. I like my cabbage topping with a little more vinegar, but I think it's more palatable for people as it is. Parking is a bit tough. People try to not follow the street signs but you can definitely get ticketed. Street parking as far as I know. There's not convenient pick up zone afaik.

Yelp
Wonderful service. All dishes were delicious -- yuca fries with a great dipping sauce (ask for more!); guacamole with really special tortillas; pupusa's with rice, beans, cabbage salad and fried plantains and of course nice and fresh chips with salsa. Extensive menu. Will be back for sure to this nice clean and well kept gem on valencia!

Jennifer N.

Yelp
If you get pupusas a la carte with some things on the side, its a really good deal! Especially if you not feeling rice and beans. Surprisingly, my favorite was the chipotle pupusa which sounds basic, like no meat or anything, just chipotle? But its sooo good. I like the plantains and yuca fries too but I wish they gave more fries. Only reason I docked a star was because the food took forever to come out.

Grace A.

Yelp
I am so sad! This place had closed.... I don't understand why... it wayyy cleaner than Panchita's, you had actual servers serving food and checking on you.... For the same price as Panchita's. This blows! This place was far superior than any other pupusa places I've tried in SF (as a born and raised Salvadoran).

Carole B.

Yelp
What a cheerful and tropical setting in which to enjoy HUGE servings of delectable pupusas! I had one with Loroco (a special flower native to Central America) and another with revuelto (beans and cheese mixed together. The plate came with a side of plantains and salad - easily enough to share between two diners. Service was as sweet as the fruity and refreshing margaritas we shared. We will definitely be back for happy hour!!

Janet M.

Yelp
This place is great food for a reasonable price! We had pupusas, yucca, atole de elote and tamales! Totally forgot to take pictures of the food! It was that good! We had to sit outside because we had our little dogs with us. As you can see it's not very pretty but they keep it clean. The service was nice. Very attentive even though we were outside. The portions were plenty and the food was delicious! I would definitely go back and try and take pictures before digging in!

Terence T.

Yelp
I saw plantain on the menu and of course I had to dip in. There are complementary nachos and salsa for the table which was nice, opted for a ceviche to share which came with plantain chips. Alone the chips were not great but combined with the ceviche's tang it really was nice. A good portion here too. Main was special A. The Pupusas were filling and tasted good, nothing special about them but they didn't need to be. Refried beans were standard along with guac. The plantain was soft and super super sweet. I'm a fan. Servers here were also very enthusiastic and the portions were good for the price.

Yelp
Probably the best value of a full meal on Valencia...or the Mission District. They offer Salvadorian Pupusas and Mexican Specialties. The most expensive item is a $22 Paella? GTFOH! Pupusas are an enclosed, grilled corn arepa filled with cheese and meat, beans or vegetable. Lots of simple cabbage, hot sauce and chips. Got dozen fresh oysters, a few plates and pupusas to go. Nice large expansive yellow accented restaurant that offers an open view kitchen that's very impressive and clean. They also offer a breakfast that looks incredible. Homey feel..Nice staff. Great for a change, but get ready for carbs to burn you fine workout Queens!

Felipe M.

Yelp
Oh my God so I came back to the place and they did not disappoint. I had the fried calamari which was perfect not to crispy and not too soggy. I also had a Salvadorian tamale that is called tamale de chipilin con queso. Basically it's a Salvadorian tamale with an herb from Salvador and cheese. The owner makes it and it is simply amazing! I also requested a soup that has black beans rice and pork kind of like a latin version of gumbo. I can't stress enough how much I recommend this place I'll see you there next time

Denise C.

Yelp
If the empanada talks to taco u must be in Argentina after all..here's to u and dad er ..but let's not make a fuss..Spanish food is do or don't depends on the occasion

Iamher T.

Yelp
The staff is always nice and inviting, always greet customers as soon as you enter. There's lot of seating, very clean and the ambiance is relaxing with nice music. The food is always cooked to order, fresh hot and hands down very good. My go to is the 2 pupusas one cheese and the other beans and cheese with beans and rice. I paid $18 and the portions are huge definitely enough for two people.

erika e.

Yelp
Nice, big parklet with shade. Service was a 10! Everyone was super attentive and friendly. The food was hit or miss. The Salvadoran dishes tasted much better than the Mexican dishes. The sangria tasted like plain dry red wine over ice with some fruit in it. You may say "well isn't that sangria?", apparently not exactly. It was missing the sweetness of the juice, sugar, brandy or whatever you use to make sangria delicious. I would try this place again and stick to the Salvadoran options.

Memo G.

Yelp
Fantastic pupusas de arroz , felt like it was very affordable as well waiting staff are also very nice

Leonora S.

Yelp
Amazing spot where you can either sit inside or outside in the cute parklet that was bordered with lights in the evening time. Beautiful. The entire staff was very attentive, welcoming, and friendly. Not once did I have to look around for anyone to catch a glance so I could be helped. Other restaurants take note of their customer service because it was EXCELLENT. I am so happy I decided to take my gf here on our date night because we were both so happy with EVERYTHING. Thank you for a wonderful night! Food and drink highlights: 1. Chips and salsa. A hit. I loved the spicy salsa and my gf loved the pico de gallo. She doesn't eat spicy food so they accommodated her with plenty of pico de gallo. 2. Camarones a la Diabla. Yummy! Not super spicy but very flavorful along with the fluffy seasoned rice, salad, and beans. 3. Pork and Cheese Pupusa. Filling and delicious. The Curtido that was served with it was a hit, the right balance of spicy and sour. Perfect. 4. Summer Vacay in a cup??? Order yourself a round of the fresh melon juice. Sweet, refreshing, and with pulp. 5. To finish up the meal, order the Atol de Elote. A hot drink that is pure comfort to the soul. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Los Amigos was a god send after a loooong day in the City. The prices are crazy reasonable and the pupusas massive and stuffed with ooey gooey goodness. I can't believe they're so new because everything ran very smoothly! Outdoor seating due to covid, but it was very beautiful. It was a Sunday evening and there was enough room for my friends and I to be seated right away. There was live music around us and cute plants. I felt comfortable and enjoyed my meal there. They gave chips & salsa in the beginning which was a nice touch. I ordered a bean & cheese pupusa (a classic, of course) and was crazy full after just one. The pupusa was perfect. They also offer a plethora of drinks for an incredibly reasonable price. I really enjoyed my visit at Los Amigos Restaurante tonight. I recommend giving this new business a shot!

Alan C.

Yelp
I got the Tipico (combo) plate to go for late night dinner after the bluegrass jam at Blondie's Monday night - one tamale, one pupusa, casamiento, fried yucca, empenada, curtido. That's a lot of good food! Just had the leftovers for lunch. Seventeen bucks for enough food for one really hungry person, really enough for two meals. All delicious. I don't know Salvadoran food, so I can't speak to how this compares for someone in the know, but I really enjoyed everything in the plate. Great flavors, everything well executed. Nice looking place, friendly server even near closing time, tasty foods, five stars.

Arturo M.

Yelp
Great pupusas and good service!! Will be back for sure. I highly recommend. Los Amigos !!

Dolores A.

Yelp
I have been offing from here for sometime now AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED!!!! The food is great. Thank for such great food in this my city I was born xox

Amy N.

Yelp
Great food and service. Server was so sweet and the chicken soup is wonderful. Hope they stay for a long time!

Baris B.

Yelp
Nice service. Drag shows on Friday evenings. Food is tasty and looks fresh. Get a pitcher of margarita too.

Jess M.

Yelp
This place has the best pupusas ever!! The combo plate is a super good deal that comes with a bunch of food - guac, plantains, two pupusas and beans. All of the pupusas are delicious and super packed, and I love plantains so it is always a bonus. They also have really great drinks!

Alice K.

Yelp
We stumbled on a perfect Salvadoran meal. For starters, the crispy tortilla with the guacamole was delicious. Then came the puposas. Also delectable. My partner had the steak and sausage and loved it. And the server was delightful.

Jesus S.

Yelp
Cheap drinks and a great place to start the night if you're going to bar hop. Also their yucca and chicharrones are really delicious.

Ian E.

Yelp
It certainly took us long enough to check this place out, but we were met with an enthusiastic welcome. Can't say no to free chips and salsa, but the only mediocre part of the experience was the salsa. The Beefsteak Salvadoreno was so flavorful and different than the foods I normally experience. My husband got the pupusas ranchero. I had a bite of the mushroom & garlic one which was absolutely fantastic. There is no good reason to line up for the neighboring restaurants on Valencia when there is a welcoming seat ready and waiting for you here.

Devika S.

Yelp
Like me if you have never tried Salvadorian food, this place is your next stop. Staff was so friendly and will make you feel so welcome. Margaritas are definite try. It had a creamy feel to it and was so good. We got a ton of pupusas, my favorite was the mushroom garlic and my friend loved the mint one. We also got the fish tacos and plantain plate. Pupusas were delightful. If you are vegetarian pupusas are good option with plenty of them to choose from.

Kayla E.

Yelp
This review is only on the service and drinks! We didn't order any food. We came here quickly to grab a few drinks while we were waiting for our table at a nearby place. The outdoor seating is beautiful lots of wood and spaces. Our waitress was very nice and offered us a drink right away. I ordered a glass of champagne and my boyfriend got the sangria. Remember all the drinks here are served with agave wine, but they do have a full drink menu. My boyfriend said the sangria was delicious and my champagne was good and classic. We got chips and salsa for the side as well, I must say I like this salsa here much better than some other places I've had. We were then able to close out quickly and left. We would come back here to try the food!

Adan Steven A.

Yelp
BEST PUPUSAS IN SF!!! Plus a whole variety of dishes from meats and steaks, soups, Mexican dishes, Salvadorian dishes and a full bar! I go there almost everyday!!! Excellent service, always quick, polite and efficient!!

Clifford K.

Yelp
Amazing pupusas. Well-priced Coronas. Chille relleno was very flavorful - you can actually taste the chile through a subtle smokiness. Service was spot on.

Carlos T.

Yelp
3 Pupusas were really doughy, not much filling, 4$ each . Sopa de Patas . I literally ate this because I had already paid $15 bucks for it. Zero stars, no flavor whatsoever, I had to add a lot of lime and salt for it to have a resemblance to a meal. Also a huge bone took over 50% of the container, the pic you see is what was left after I took it out . Fríed yuca was ok, hard to ruin . Paid 50$ for a bad meal . I will never go back , do not recommend at all.

Raul E.

Yelp
Hello Guys I am don't write any review but this is not the first time I am coming to you business and I just realize the food quality is been not good The service also was really bad we was waiting for the food for more than 25 minutes and when the food arrived to the table the oyster were really bad and the soup one of my friends just got sick that day after that experience maybe you can do something taste the food in advance or don't know I love this place and I am been taking some friends but I will think about that the next time

Erika D.

Yelp
Food was good and service was good too; staff is very friendly. I had the mixed pupusas and were delicious!

Sylver M.

Yelp
Service was absolutely stunning. Waiter was great and always attentive with my table. I am gonna say the food wasn't what we expected. Full fried. Tilapia had a weird flavor and the Carne Asada was extremely chewy. Also you might get a little bit salty beans. So keep that in mind. They also only have one choice of tequila. So if you love craft cocktails this isn't the place for you. If you like beer this would be the place for beers.

Jawaun M.

Yelp
Food prices are reasonable for the area. Cocktails are the basics but definitely has its own zest. Great for families, friend outings and date nights! The service A1 ! A must come to when in the mission.

Arika B.

Yelp
Really good food. We had the pork pupusas (Special Plate A). The pupusas were some of the best I've had - crunchy yet light and fluffy with excellent flavor. We also has the Caldo de Patas - large bowl and super good.

Carlos O.

Yelp
Good food good service and excellent Drag shows, I have try the pork chop on vinagre sauce, excellent the chicken al limón very good too.

Sarahi S.

Yelp
Great service, pupusas were cheesy and not too greasy! My favorite were the Mushroom and Cheese ones!

Catherine B.

Yelp
Small restaurant serving Salvadorian meals. Went in for brunch. Just opened and is already busy. I had reservations. Sat in the window and watched the world go by. I had the chilaquiles. Very tasty t but the portion was too small. The best items at our table was the pulposas and fruit salad. I will be back for my own pulposas Plan on reservations on the weekend

Hanna H.

Yelp
I never like leaving bad reviews for restaurants, but at the same time, I think it's important to be honest. And as a frequent Yelp reader, I would like to know if I should steer clear of a place too. I really don't know why this place has such high reviews. Maybe it's because it's known for pupusas and that's what most people get/like here. I tried one here but don't really like pupusas in general and I didn't feel like it changed my mind about them. They're just really carby and cheesy with very little meat. For what it's worth, a few others in the group thought the pupusas tasted pretty good. I also had some tacos, which were not good at all. The fillings were pretty bland and there was also no good salsa or sauce. Some people in our group had also ordered mixed drinks, which tasted really watered down. But the thing that really compelled me to write a review about this place was the service. It was awful. My friend ordered a pupusa and two tacos with rice beans, but all he got was one pupusa and one taco. We told the staff multiple times that he was waiting on a second taco (and technically, rice and beans), but they never brought it out, so we finally told them we wanted to cancel that order. The waiter told us he took it off the bill, but later on, we realized he had charged us for TWO taco plates (each one is $13+) when in reality, we should have only been charged for 1 taco (which should have been $3ish)!!! Never, ever coming back, and really can't recommend this place. Only plus was there was no wait and lots of seating. But I guess I see why now.

Evan W.

Yelp
Best pupusas and service I've had in the city. Steven is a great server, and always very nice. I keep coming back because the food is delicious and they make me feel at home. Don't pass up Los amigos when your near Valencia street! Special A all the way!

Jia min C.

Yelp
I wanted pupusas so I decided to give this relatively new spot a try. It was not very busy considering it was Friday night in the Mission. They have a nice big parklet, though I didn't see whether there were any outside heaters. It was empty enough inside that I felt okay about dining inside since it was a relatively chilly night. Staff were really nice and service was pretty efficient. They brought out complementary chips and salsa when they brought me my beer. The chips needed some more salt, and I didn't love the salsa-- it tasted very ketchup-like, which I found unusual. I put salt and pepper and Tapatio to try to improve the salsa-- it was passable as a result. I had the Special A which was a plate of 2 pupusas with guacamole, sour cream, refried beans, and plantains. My go-to pupusa order tends to be revueltas (pork, beans, cheese) so I ordered that, made with rice flour. The pupusas were okay, though the dough was a bit tough to cut through. I was pretty disappointed with the curtido-- it was pretty dry and not very flavorful. I like my curtido pretty vinegar-y. I hadn't realized how much of my pupusa experience also requires excellent curtido and salsa, which I tend to pile in mountains on top of my pupusa and then drown in salsa. Overall I found this to be a pretty disappointing pupusa experience-- they weren't horrible, but every other pupusa I've ever had has been better than this. Not to mention that this was by far the most I've ever paid for pupusas ($17). There were some gnats buzzing around my food during the meal, which was pretty annoying. I didn't see them otherwise, so I guess they were attracted to the food. I sat near the door. The place is otherwise pretty clean. Most upsetting to me after the fact was seeing that I had been charged a 3.5% card use fee when I paid with my credit card. At no point did I get any warning that this was a thing-- nothing on the menu said that a fee would be charged, nor did the server advise me about this. I could and would have paid cash if I knew.

Olha I.

Yelp
Best PUPUSAS in SF! We came here already couple time for dinner and haven't registered yet. Good flavor, fresh and delicious fried plantains on a side of you order "Special A" for 16$ only. Also you are getting free white corn chips and tomato salsa ( salsa be honest was a little watery , but still tasted okay) . Friendly customer service as well!

ashley d.

Yelp
Came across this place today and was impressed with the quality of food and impeccable service. We ordered pupusa plates and each flavor was great as were the side of beans and rice. I agree that the chips could use more salt and the salsa was underwhelming, but everything else was fantastic. We live walking distance and can't wait to come back and check out the cute outdoor space at night.

Bobby K.

Yelp
It was pretty late and we were trying a place to eat. Found this spot and saw the reviews were alright. We sat down and ambience was ok but there definitely a few things that ended making this a pretty terrible experience. 1) The food - the food was nothing special. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. I got the super burrito which was lack luster. The other people in my crew got the pupasa and tacos and everyone said it was being blah. Again, not horrible but definitely not good 2) the service - I think the service is where all the demerits go in my book. The waiter constantly forgot our order and one of my group mates never got his second tacos. The drinks took forever. When we finally got the bill, the waiter hovered over and watched as I put the tip in. This made it so uncomfortable. 3) THE FINAL STRAW - the place overcharged us!! They charged us double for a taco plate we never got! Partially my fault for not checking but definitely a huge problem but makes sense when you account for all the mistakes and the lack of service here. Being in the mission neighborhood, there are a lot of places to eat. However, we were super hungry and thought anything would work. My advice, save your stomach and find another spot with better service and food.

Brooke A.

Yelp
This place has good prices for the city and amazing food. We had an awesome server who was very friendly. Atmosphere is awesome and great music

Brendan L.

Yelp
Too fire. Super great food. White boys can't handle the spice though. !!!!!!!!!!!! Munch here. Beware tho!

Emily M.

Yelp
A delicious gem! Everything was made fresh to order and wow. Pupusa Mixta hit the spot, fresh and tasty! Service was excellent.

T T.

Yelp
Friendly service with tasty pupusas and plantains. Really like this place for when you want somewhere to meet with friends

Chelsea C.

Yelp
Best breakfast in all of San Francisco! Served all day Egg plate served with fresh pupusas, plantains, fresh cheese, sour cream, and tomato onion sauce. Taco plate can feed two!
