"The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is the largest art museum in the western United States, with a vast collection that includes Picassos, Migrittes, Hockneys, and more. It also boasts two impressive outdoor installations with Chris Burden’s Urban Light and Michael Heizer’s “Levitated Mass.” —Lilah Ramzi"
"Lerman Yoes, who was its first social media manager, calls it “this museum is the quintessential Los Angeles museum.” Located along the stretch of Wilshire Boulevard known as Museum Row, the attraction features both a permanent collection and traveling exhibitions and draws many visitors to Chris Burden's public installation, "Urban Light," which includes more than 200 vintage street lamps in neat rows. Construction continues on a Peter Zumthor–designed expansion dubbed the David Geffen Galleries, expected to open in 2026." - Travel + Leisure Editors
"I never had the chance to go and I was just invited to their Art + Film Gala and it was just great." - Edward Barsamian
"The largest art museum in the western United States, offering a vast collection of art from around the world."
"LACMA describes itself an "encyclopedic museum." There are different buildings for different collections, separated by culture (i.e. the Korean Art Galleries, Pavilion for Japanese Art). Though right now, the museum is going through a massive, controversial construction project, which is set to complete in 2024. When it's complete, there will be one large building—the Geffen Galleries, by Peter Zumthor—that will house LACMA's vast collections. The collections, when they come back on view, are world-class. There's a mix of Islamic, Korean, Japanese, Greek, and Mexican art, as well as collections of contemporary art, jewelry, fashion, and design. Chris Burden's Urban Light (rows of street lamps) and Michael Heizer's Levitated Mass (a giant boulder suspended above a walkway), are two of the most popular selfie spots in town." - Maxwell Williams
