Can not recommend this tour enough. Our guide, Blake, was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, accommodating and laid back - the perfect host for our afternoon. This is a great activity for a group of friends, whiskey aficionados and novices alike.
A few tips...
- Come curious! The tour is pretty informal and more like the distiller is gladly taking a break from work to show you around. So ask tons of questions! Blake can tell you all about the company's history, how different alcohols are made, how their elaborate machines work, and lots of funny anecdotes about being the sole operator of the country's largest craft distillery.
- Come thirsty but fed! You will get to taste enough unique whiskeys, bourbons and rums to truly make the $50 ticket price well worth it. But there's no food and you're going to wish there was. We ended up strolling to downtown Culver for a much needed dinner after. Thankfully the parking lot is patrolled by 24 hour security and we could safely leave our car there for a few hours.
- Tickets sold out? Give them a call! We learned that the booking site locks out any additional ticket sales 24 hours before the tour, even if there are still spots available. So give them a ring if you're hoping to make a last minute booking.
