Los Angeles Distillery

On a rainy day between Christmas and the New Year, we learned all about bourbon and scotch distilling right in our hometown of Culver City! The founder himself, Lewis, was the gracious 'host' of this craft distillery tour that deserves to be on your 'things to do' list when you have visitors. The bottles are beautiful -- bourbon, Scotch-style whisky, gin -- and we enjoyed sampling the contents during the tasting at the end. The bottles are also available to purchase and I plan to bring one with me to the next family reunion in Texas to show the cousins that California produces more than fine wine!

We were looking for a distillery and were lucky to find Los Angeles Distillery. Even without an appointment, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, who took plenty of time just for the two of us. He explained everything in detail, shared insights about the distilling process, and made us feel truly valued. The small tasting at the end was the perfect finishing touch—especially the bourbon, which was excellent. The location itself is stylish and inviting, with a relaxed atmosphere that made the experience even more enjoyable. The service was outstanding, personal, and professional. If you're in the area and appreciate quality spirits and genuine hospitality, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

I came into this distillery, and it absolutely blew my mind! From the beautiful selection of bottles to the most profesional and kind Master distiller/owner Lewis Harsanyi and it's not just looks their Whisky and Bourbon are so good I had to get my two of my favorites. The single barrel hi wheat was the most surprising to me as the flavors popped out. i got a sweet tamarind, oak, and some pepper along with some notes I'm still trying to decipher. This, in my humble opinion, is the best California whisky and Bourbon by far. This distillery is an American gem! Time to support these amazing local American businesses!

Great informative tour, I recommend any bourbon whiskey aficionado take this tour. Our guide and owner was knowledgeable, helpful, and most of all a master at his craft. I will definitely will be back. Craft distillery spirits are the best spirits.

A rare opportunity to spend a couple of hours with a local distiller. From the machinery to the process to the first hand experience anecdote, the visit was engaging and entertaining. And of course, the spirits! Left with some Scotch style Los Angeles Whisky and Gin which will become a favorite gift when traveling. Highly recommended!

A Diamond in the Rough! This distillery is a hidden gem in Culver City. Lewis is basically an Alchemist! Having complete creative control over everything in his distillery means what he produces is innovative, multi layered and above all, quality. It’s obvious that this is not just a job but rather a passion for creativity and exploration. The ryes, bourbons, single malts and gin were all excellent. As someone who has been part of a Scotch club for over 8 years, this experience made me rethink what American whisky’s can be. Well worth the $50 price tag for the tour and tasting. Highly recommend anyone who has a desire to learn more about craft distillation to visit Lewis at the Los Angeles Distillery. The cherry on top was the pour right from the cask into the glass of an American single malt that completely blew me away. Lots of depth and character. Thank you so much for this experience Lewis. I had to limit myself to bring home only 3 bottles. Wish it could have been more. Will definitely be back!

Real old world whiskey maker. Top whiskey distiller in California. Lewis is the owner/distiller, he has double thick Hungarian virgin oak barrels, Bordeaux and Tokaji European wine casks. He makes everything here, bottled in bond. You can come here and meet him and do tastings and he'll show you around. Really great craft distillery experience. He does, bourbons, single malts, ryes, rum, and gin.

Lewis was as kind a host as he is brilliant. His distillery is an incredible masterpiece of engineering, technology, and design. Meticulously beautiful, down to each detail, including packaging. Oh and the bourbon, scotch 🥃 and gin are awesome. We tasted an 18 month Bourbon, a 5 year bourbon, a single malt scotch, a triple cask single malt, and their 11 herb Gin. I walked out with an ultra smooth 5 yr bourbon that at 100 proof is shockingly easily too drink. Go!

Very informative tour and the guide was great! The tasting was also great! We were able to taste grains as well.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. The tour is informative but I wish there was whiskey tasting throughout the tour not just at the end. Like if at each spot he stopped to talk he gave another sample of his whiskey not just at the end. We did enjoy it overall and my boyfriend wanted a bottle at the end so his taste samples were good. He is very knowledgeable.

We did the whiskey tour and I was bored out of my mind. The owner is a nice man but he really needs to hire someone with more charm to give the tour. He speaks very slow and softly. I felt like I was in a boring college lecture that I couldn't escape because it was a required course we had to suffer through. 90 minutes of absolute boredom until we got to the whiskey tasting. I'm shocked with all the positive reviews here of people enjoying the tour. If you can somehow skip the tour and get to the tasting I highly recommend it. He was very generous with the tasting and my friends purchased a couple bottles to take home.

I booked this tour for my husbands birthday. He's a huge fan of whisky. The location was easy to find and the owner was very nice and knowledgeable. He answered everyone's questions. It was very difficult to hear him though. He had a very soft spoken voice where you have to really pay attention to hear. When we got to the actual tasting he was very generous with the pour. At least on our tour I don't think there were enough seats. I was squished on a bench with another gentleman who I didn't know, which made it a little uncomfortable. We ended up buying a couple bottles to take home.

i surprised my boyfriend Edward for his birthday to take him Whisky Tasting and he was so impressed and the owner of the distillery teaches you everything you need to know about Distilling and alchol its super important to know the process and how it works. We were both very impressed by the knowledge of This owner and he was so kind to answer all of our questions along the way. Our tour was from 3-6 if your looking for something fun to do check this out.

My boyfriend and I had a great time. The owner that gave us a tour was kind and very knowledgeable about the process of making bourbon and etc. You can tell this is the owners passion and wants others to know the value in what in your drinking. He also have a store where you can purchase bottles!

My friend & I took this tour and whiskey tasting to learn more about whiskey. Parking is very easy. Either on the street or park in their parking lot. Louis, the owner, gave the tour. He is very knowledgeable about his craft. However, his voice is not very loud. There was only six in this group. If there were more people, it would have been a problem hearing him. The room where the tasting was held could use some ambiance. The whiskey is not inexpensive to buy, and the tasting room could use some help. If you attend, bring a jacket as it was very cold inside.

We did a tour and tasting here and it was so fun! Very informative about the distilling process throughout and cool to see all the machinery and barrels used here and learn about them. The tasting at the end was definitely the cherry on top, getting to try a lot of their whiskeys and vodka, rum, and gin for anyone who wanted it. My personal favorites were the rye whiskey and a double cask whiskey poured directly from a beaker. The tour guide was the BEST, making the whole experience top notch. Would recommend!

Great tour with the owner which was super knowledgeable and accommodating to our large group. Got to walk through the warehouse and see all the equipment while also learning about the process. Not to mention being able to sample all the amazing whiskeys. Was fun and recommended for a fun experience.

Louis is an excellent tour guide and an even better host. The explanation of the process is appreciated and the gift shop is beautiful. The Hungarian wood on the display cabinet is gorgeous.

Incredible. Beautiful selection of whiskey, and such a unique walk through! Had just the heads (pre casked) bourbon, then post 18 month bourbon, rye, single malt, tripled married, and his first single malt. It was a beautiful selection. Highly recommend!

Can not recommend this tour enough. Our guide, Blake, was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, accommodating and laid back - the perfect host for our afternoon. This is a great activity for a group of friends, whiskey aficionados and novices alike. A few tips... - Come curious! The tour is pretty informal and more like the distiller is gladly taking a break from work to show you around. So ask tons of questions! Blake can tell you all about the company's history, how different alcohols are made, how their elaborate machines work, and lots of funny anecdotes about being the sole operator of the country's largest craft distillery. - Come thirsty but fed! You will get to taste enough unique whiskeys, bourbons and rums to truly make the $50 ticket price well worth it. But there's no food and you're going to wish there was. We ended up strolling to downtown Culver for a much needed dinner after. Thankfully the parking lot is patrolled by 24 hour security and we could safely leave our car there for a few hours. - Tickets sold out? Give them a call! We learned that the booking site locks out any additional ticket sales 24 hours before the tour, even if there are still spots available. So give them a ring if you're hoping to make a last minute booking.

We really enjoyed our tour and tasting! The owner was our guide. We did buy a bottle from their shop afterwards.

We live walking distance to the distillery and had never been before. So to start our holiday celebrations off right we decided to get tickets for the tour and tasting. What a gem to have in Culver City!! We learned so much, met great people and tasted some truly lovely bourbons, ryes, whiskeys and even gin. I highly recommend signing up for this. We definitely walked away with a couple bottles and plan on bringing visiting friends here in the future.

What an experience! This is as authentic a distillery and whiskey tasting as it gets! What a charming guy and such great liquors. I'm so impressed, and I love the detail and thoughtful branding. You won't be disappointed- I was so impressed.

This brewery has some of my absolute favorite craft beers ever. Great vibes, friendly service and delicious snacks to pair with the brews! So happy I checked them out!

Bradley ( if that's his real name lol) was a very cool guy and gave a great tour. I enjoyed the whiskey making process and sampling EVERYTHING. Couldn't help but leave with an bottle.

We found this place while my dad and brother were visiting in town. It's a farther drive from Burbank to Culver on a Saturday and I can tell you my family had a blast. The owner was entertaining and a very slow speaker so kind of had to buckle in for that ride however the tasting they give you is a plenty. Everyone enjoyed the tasting and we even bought a bottle afterwards.

Who knew we had a craft distillery so close to home, that produced not only scotch but bourbon and gin and rum, and with the exact variations of each that I somehow have to try without getting too toasted. I wasn't able to visit and tour in person with the Covid-19 quarantine and all, but Blake answered all my questions on the phone in a mini virtual tour about the bourbons and scotches I was looking to buy. Never rushed, knowledgeable about every aspect of all whiskeys, Blake assured me my order would be processed for delivery the same day: it was and got to me the next day! I started with the LA Beach Straight Bourbon and the Glen LA Single Malt. Both are excellent, being anxious to taste them upon arrival! Next up for me will be either the Hi-Rye or Hi-Rye Straight Bourbon and the Triple Cask Scotch. Awesome place and great whiskeys!

they have many option of beer. and also some cocktails. food is good enough for enjoy it with the beers. also they have some games ther. the place is huge so don't worry about.

This is the largest craft distillery in the US. Blake was great! Highly recommend the tour!

A distillery tour at LA Distillery was so much fun (even though we had to group with a few Bears fans!). The tour guide was actually the "do everything" guy at this distillery, from driving truck to running the stills. So much knowledge and he loved to share his stories. I left with a bottle of the high rye whiskey as it was my favorite of the day. Very tasty, very sippable. I love it!

Wonderful, robust single malt whiskey that I keep coming back for!! The triple cask unfiltered single malt. Delicious!! To top of off, excellent, friendly and knowledgeable customer service whenever I come to the retail store to purchase. Thank you guys!

Needed to buy a gift for an associate and wanted something other than whiskey from the average liquor store. Yelp showed me this place and it was a 5 minute drive. I thought, "why not?" This place is legit. The modest display room, with glass cases that hold simple presentation of ryes, bourbons and malts, fronts their distillery. Gleaming stills matched with wooden aging barrels in an impeccable space. Check this place out and ask for Blake. He'll give you a compact immersion into the world of whiskey in a way that will make you feel like you're spending time with a friend.

We had a great tour and tasting with Lewis! It was really special to learn about the distilling process and details about the spirits from the owner himself. We were able to taste a variety of spirits, including single malt whiskey, bourbon, rum, and even vodka and gin. It was definitely worth the price. I would highly recommend this place to any locals looking to experience something unique. The only thing I would suggest is a little more organization to start the tour, because no one came out to meet us when we arrived or checked our tickets. Besides that, it was a great way to celebrate my husband's birthday :)

This is the best kept secret in Los Angeles! Fine whisky and the staff is great and extremely knowledgeable regarding their products.

First time here and all I have to say is "hidden Los Angeles gem". I came here for some Christmas gifts, but will definitely be returning for a tour and some whiskey tasting! Charming spot with excellent customer service. Shout out to Blake for his awesome knowledge and gift wrapping skills.

I gifted my sister a tour/tasting for her birthday and it was by far one of the best tours/tastings we have ever been to. The tour guide/only employee was extremely knowledgeable and personable. It was casual which we enjoyed! We will definitely be ordering a bottle from the store and letting our friends know about our experience.

Went here for the whiskey tasting and tour and was not disappointed. Great information and the whiskey was superb. I highly recommend. Had a group of 6 for a birthday outing and it was fantastic. I will be visiting the store to purchase bourbon going forward.

Great tour! Guide was great at tailoring tour to our group's desires (mostly to drink more whiskey). Learned a lot and got to drink a lot of interesting whiskies! Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Awesome facility, nice staff, and delicious booze! Very cool environment and I was told they have regular tastings and tours, which I will be attending at some point. If you're a whiskey lover I would highly recommend coming here and picking up a few bottles.

I received the tour as a gift, never heard of the place. Got there and the attendant was very friendly,very knowledgeable and patient. Had a fun time with the group we were with and enjoyed all the whiskey tasting!!

What a great tour! We had an exceptional guide in Louis. Helps that it's his distillery and from conception to reality it's a gem. The tasting room is awesome and well the quality and style of the whiskey are top notch. We had the place to ourself and had three hours of education, laughs, history and amazing whiskey! We all wish him huge success and hope as this Covid situation opens up some he can get back to business. He's been making hand sanitizer for all who need it!

This is the coolest little Bourbon / Whiskey distillery. They just opened evidently and they are brewing some pure golden goodness right in Culver City! Get a nice taste of Los Angeles! I'll def be back!

Did a tour a couple weeks ago. It was very educational and informative. I wasn't aware we had a distillery in LA. The owner was very nice. Unfortunately a lady fell out of the tour due to heat. An ambulance took her to the hospital. We tasted several bourbons and scotch. My favorite was the triple cask single malt. I purchased a bottle of it and a bottle of gin for a friend. The prices were a little steep but for the overall experience and owning a bottle produced in our backyard, it is worth it. Thanks for the experience.

Blake gave me a tour--I actually messed up and showed up on the wrong day, but he gave me the tour anyways. Really appreciated that. Super informative and really nice. Pointed me in the direction of their high rye bourbon. Bought a few other bottles to ship. Going to be ordering more from here.

Luis is the sole owner and operator. He goes to the Hungarian forrest when choosing the wood for his barrels. He's a great tour guide with high quality whiskey and gin.

What an incredible experience!!! Blake was amazing at explaining the craftsmanship and the detail that goes into how to build a distillery and how to run a distillery! He mesmerized us with his fav moments and delighted our palette with incredible selections!! We really enjoyed the tasting!

I attended the whiskey tour and tasting and it was interesting learning about the different barrels and the process of making whiskey. Its a small operation but i feel that it makes it more unique and special when you try their whiskey. I definitely recommend visiting. They have tastings every Thursday. I think its important to mention that I am not much of a whiskey drinker but you will definitely find a whiskey you like here!!

This place is great! We moved down the street a few months ago and stopped in for a tour. Our guide (and the owner) Lewis was friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. The tour was great, the tasting was fun, and most importantly everything we tried was delicious. Definitely will be making a return here at some point!
