Los Arroyos Montecito Mexican Restaurant & Take Out

We’re a group of four riders from Orange County and stopped by Los Arroyos in Montecito for lunch while visiting Santa Barbara. Food was tasty, service was okay, and prices were reasonable. A great casual spot for a quick bite.

It’s so seriously overpriced. We live right around the corner and despite the convenience we do not find it worth the cost for what you get. We tried it again for burrito week and got the chicken runaway burrito for $9, which is a very reasonable price for a chicken bean and cheese w/guac burrito, without rice mind you, normally around $20, more if you add rice. Guacamole was entirely on the first ⅓ of the burrito, terrible distribution, mouthful of guac. The flour tortilla was moist and borderline soggy, not a nice texture, it seemed like they attempted to sear the tortilla but did it in a hurry. We attempted to sear it better on our skillet at home. Burrito week should be a time to market their burritos as the best so we would want to return for the rest of the year, this was not the case here and we do not plan on returning which is a bummer because it’s the closest Mexican restaurant to us. I leave a poor review because I feel like if I called management it would fall on deaf ears and nothing would change. This is Montecito’s tourist trap.

Grew up going to their Camarillo location, but was very happy to see Los Arroyos thriving in a proper restaurant setting. The food was lovely as always. Some of the best mole I’ve had outside of Mexico!!! Their food is top notch and tastes amazing.

As I was headed down 101 South from Goleta during rush hour no less, I decided that rather than spend 25 minutes sitting in the car moving just inches every few minutes, it was best to get off the freeway and enjoy a leisurely dinner until traffic was flowing again. As a new arrival to the SB area, I opted for the first Mexican restaurant I spotted just off the freeway. The place is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Montecito on Coast Village Road. Parking was easy, hassle free and no meters! I slipped into a parking space right in front of Los Arroyos (1280 Coast Village Hiway). I was immediately greeted and seated at a lovely table (I chose to dine al fresco--it is Santa Barbara where the weather is beautiful, after all!). Camille was quick to get my order and before I could barely get started on the chips, my meal arrived. I ordered salmon enchiladas and while I am a salmon fan I have never tasted anything like what I just had. The sauce was creamy but not sickeningly rich; it was a a red-sauce base but didn't trigger heartburn. The salmon was fresh, cooked just right without being dry and overcooked, and it was topped with thin slices of avocado. In a word, it was otherworldly. Guacamole was equally appealing to the taste buds-- not your everyday, smashed up avocado with some generic Pico di gallo tossed in. Same with the salad--fresh, crispy and served with house Ranch. Los Arroyos takes Mexican food to a whole other level with their secret recipes. (I asked what was in their salsa and, true to chef culture, was politely informed it was proprietary). To top it all off, they have an impressive offering of wine, beer, and mixed drinks--Justin cab never disappoints! Definitely a 5-star dining experience across the board! I'll be back.

This was the second time my daughter and I had eaten at Los Arroyos and it was just as delicious as the first time! She ordered the shrimp tacos & I ordered the salmon tacos. Both entrees included black beans served in a crisp corn tortilla "bowl" and a serving of Mexican rice. My daughter never liked black beans until she had them here. She loved them!! I had a good sized portion of salmon in each taco which was very tender and juicy. My daughter had a generous amount of shrimp in her tacos. The restaurant was very clean and the service was great. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The parking lot isn't very big as there are many shops located on the same street, but there's some parking in front of the restaurant. We'll definitely be back!

The ribs were super dry, like if they cooked them and after warmed up or something, not good. Meat was ok, quesadillas with langusyones was average

Disgusting! I Door Dashed a bean and cheese burrito and it arrived cold (we live very close to the restaurant.) The cheese was not even melted and there were hardly any beans inside of it. It was like biting into a cold burrito with cheese bricks and just a few beans. Terrible. I also paid $23 for two steak soft tacos which is absolutely insane! That price for two steak tacos which are basically street tacos is nuts. Those also arrived cold and the meat wasn't great. We also asked for multiple green sauces and received none. :)))))

I ordered take-out from Los Arroyos last weekend, and while the food wasn't bad, I don't think I'll make a habit of it. For one thing, it was just too expensive for a casual lunch at home. $22 for al pastor tacos, $22 for a chicken quesadilla, $23 for a chile relleno burrito, etc. The other thing is they packed up my tacos without a drop of salsa. They were decent tacos al pastor, with grilled seasoned pork, pineapple, onion, and cilantro, served with a side of rice and black beans. But they were definitely dry, and I can't imagine customers eat them without any kind of salsa at the restaurant. I ended up finding a jar of old grocery store salsa in the fridge, and that improved my $22 (pre-tax and tip) tacos. At least everyone seemed to like their food. It was reasonably tasty, and it was nice to be able to pick up a nice Mexican lunch on Coast Village Road. I'll bet it's a better restaurant for dining in, though, with access to margaritas and basic condiments.

Lovely restaurant on Coast village drive. The food was really good, portions a bit small but tasty! Was pretty easy to find parking given the location. The outdoor heaters kept us warm in the very cold weather albeit I could smell the methane from it. Service was descent Would come back!

Los Arroyos always hits the spot - great margaritas and entrees. My usual order is the giant posole, enough to share or take home for later.

Excellent service, beautiful ambiance and wonderfully delicious food! Let's start with the service. Our server was Atila, very attentive and very personable. Very cordial and helpful when making selections on what to eat and drink. Super nice gentleman! The ambiance is fantastic. We sat outside in the warm Montecito evening and relaxed with nice cool drinks. A Mariachi Band was playing as well. They would roam around the restaurant playing their wonderful tunes. The Food Was delicious! Everyone in our party of 6 was super happy with their choice. From moist perfectly cooked shrimp to perfectly done steak fajitas and super fluffy chili rellano. Excellent local spot. Good salsa. Worth a try. Tough parking. Stay away from the Molcajete. Claims it is big enough for two to share (it is not) and does not come with brand and rice as is typical.

Delicious Food, Unfortunate Parking Situation I recently dined at Los Arroyos on Coast Village Road, and I must say, their food and drinks were great. However, my dining experience was slightly marred by the unfortunate parking situation outside the restaurant. It seems that a significant portion of the available parking spaces in front of the establishment were taken up by the employees' vehicles, leaving limited options for customers like myself unless you have a handicap sign. While I understand that the employees need a place to park during their shifts, taking prime parking space directly in front is inconsiderate and avoidable and it would be greatly appreciated if the restaurant owners/managers required employees to park down the street on Coast Village Circle as an alternative to ensure that customers have ample space to park. Their consumption of available parking also impacts neighboring businesses as well. Despite this inconvenience, I would still eat here assuming the parking gods are looking out for me and I don't have to circle the block a few times in search of parking!

Omg the best! So good!! Would defenetly go back Carne Campestre $25 and with home made Tortillas.

Worst customer service. Ordered a huge order for delivery and they put us on the back burner for 3 hours and made our delivery driver wait for an hour after arriving. On top of that, they forgot to include 2 entrees that we paid for. Just speechless.

easy to order online. we opted for pick up. delicious food and comes in sturdy to go packaging. what could pair better with a view like this than los arroyos???

The ambience is great with indoor, outdoor, or bar seating. The food is excellent. The flour tortillas are soft. Guacamole was amazing! There is a mild salsa and spicy salsa but the spicy is not overpowering.

Los Arroyos did a good job of accommodating our group of 7 Monday evening. Things to know: 1) Reservations are only available by calling - no Open Table or Resy 2) Ask to sit on the patio. It's a nice view of Coast Village Rd and all of the interesting Montecito nightlife 3) Their corn tortillas & chips are amazing 4) Larger groups get an 18% gratuity added and they do not point this out, so look at your itemized bill 5) The pitchers of margaritas worked out great for our larger group. They are $45 each and pack a punch 6) The ceviche on the appetizer menu is my favorite 7) Rest room was clean 8) Staff was friendly, but the only lapse in service was a failure to bring glasses of water to guests even after multiple requests. Will try them again when back in the area. Adding Open Table reservations would be nice and just a little better table service.

Service was terrible. After sitting at table For over 5min we had to get up to ask for waters. Then the waiter came out to table, without waters, and asked us what we would like to drink. Our Food came out at different times and no one checked on us or asked if we needed anything. And this was during a very slow time, restaurant was about 1/3 full

Best Mexican in Montecito. Great tacos, service, although ambiance is too close to the street and is not great. Love the lemonade and the chips are breathtaking. Good job.

Food was just OK the chili Riano wasn't fully cooked. Cheese was not melted it was a big block. Service was prompt .. place was busy. They need to get better with their food preparation. For the price I will go somewhere else.

The pozole was one of the best I've ever had. And I've had a lot of pozole. I've also made pozole almost every year the last 5 years from scratch so I understand how much work it is to get right. This was the real deal.

We stopped here on our way back home from Solvang on a recommendation from a santa barbara friend. it was super convenient off of the 101 but unfortunately we came to the wrong location apparently. This review is solely for the staff and the service (or lack of service) we experienced. My partner and I waited at the entry desk for almost 10 minutes before we were acknowledged by the staff who walked by us several times. The restaurant was not busy at all. When we were seated the waiter seemed extremely bothered and displeased to be serving us. The food was alright but the unwelcoming atmosphere as stifling. The other non-LGBT patrons were being treated phenomenally though!

Lol pretty mid Mexican restaurant. I ordered the alambre which was good. Nothing insane or bad. Flavor was somewhat there and I did like the tortillas. I think the guacamole was alright. Not much flavor kinda simple. Service was great I will say and I did enjoy my mojito. Might be a tough judge after just visiting Mexico City.

Wrong dressing AGAIN on a delivery order. Get your together Los Arroyos!!! Good food but the worst service

First time trying los arroyo's was seated outside on a beautiful night, ordered the chicken taquitos, and crab enchiladas. Everything came out great, my only flaw was the dirty napkin w/utensils... other then that it was delicious and service was pleasant.

Fiesta in Santa Barbara is always pretty festive, and we discovered that LAMR&TO in Montecito was the perfect place to be on the final night. Along with the delicious Mexican dishes and Spicy Margaritas, they had an incredible Mariachi Band serenading us all. We even got in a couple song requests which they sang wonderfully. And even with it being a busy evening, our server Melissa kept on-top of everything, made some spot-on food suggestions, and made sure the evening went along smoothly. We will definitely have this on our go-to list year-round, and for next year's SB Fiesta event.

I have never ever been disappointed at Los Arroyos. Today we had a lovely lunch of halibut tacos, 1 crispy chicken and 1 Al pastor soft taco. I'm loving the Havana margarita recently, however I usually get the El Dueno. Tania did a great job of taking care of us.

We had the margarita tamarindo. This was tasty. Had the pork chimichanga ($19!) and it was tasteless with very little pork. There was no salsa for the burrito and none on the table. If you want any service at all plan on begging the passing staff. Save your money-go somewhere else.

What an awful experience. We ordered dinner using Yelp and picked up the food, and it seemed fine. However, when we opened one of the vegetarian dishes, it had meat and bits of plastic in it. When I took the dish back to the restaurant, they offered to give me another dish. However, our appetites were ruined by that time, and we did not want another dish. What we wanted was a refund. We were told that because we bought the food on an app, we couldn't get a refund. I had the manager talk to me and he said "we never get the money". what he told me to do was go to the app then find the company that actually does the transaction then write them a letter and request a refund. This is completely awful. I have loved this restaurant for many years, but this was a terrible terrible experience. I said that's between you and the people who run the app not me when I paid for the food. We've always enjoyed our visits at Los Arroyos and I took my mother-in-law to enjoy a meal here on Thursday for the first time. The host/waiter was on his phone and we stood there for a few minutes before we were even seated..that should've been the first red flag but we stayed. We all ordered a burrito after after waiting for 40 minutes, I finally got up to ask where our food was. The server and manager proceed to tell me that they were busy preparing 25 plates for a photo shoot and that our food would almost be out. During the entire 40 minutes, absolutely nobody checked in on us, offered us anything or updated us on the delay. Our food finally comes out and our burritos are cold! I complained to our waiter and he said if I wanted it warmed up or if I wanted a new one. His words exact were that it would only take 5 minutes to make...so why did we have to wait 40 minutes for a cold, sad burrito? As we continue to eat our cold, sad burritos, we find that over half of the burrito was just the tortilla and cold blobs of unmelted cheese and hardly meat or beans. Initially we were offered one free burrito and then the waiter said he gave us his discount which was 50% off like he was doing us a favor. Don't act like it's our problem for being upset that we got cold food with an absurd wait time because of decision to schedule a photoshoot and prioritize that over your paying customers.

We sat at the bar and Nick the bartender was amazing; nice and knowledgeable! The atmosphere was good and the tequila drinks were 100%

Blonde Melisa‍ WAS SO KIND, hospitable, so sweet, she recommended a delicious dinner. We order the chicken Anaheim, tostada ranchera, arroz con leche OVER ALL AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!!

fabulous 5 star in every way. we had nice service with our waiter, Filipe. We had a table on the street patio able to watch the traffic which is always entertaining with the classic cars. I ordered the special tamales, they were fabulous. And my wife had the chili relleno she loved it.

My family and I have been loyal customers at this location for over 15 years. Today, we came to celebrate my dad's birthday. I had a reservation. Upon arrival, the host, a middle aged man of strong stature with a mustache, did not greet or look at us or greet us for a good 3 minutes as he stood wiping a large stack of menus 2 feet away from me with what seemed like a lot of aggression. I said hello twice, he did not respond. When he looked up, we smiled and said "hi, we have a reservation for outdoors for..." He cut me off and said "I don't know who told you about any reservations, we don't do reservations for lunch" and walked away. I felt so horrible since it was supposed to be a treat for my dad's birthday. I tried talking to him again, he was mumbling and walking very quickly to different areas. It was such an unpleasant experience it made me want to cry because of the disappointment. We just left and went to a different establishment. I'm not sure I want to ever come back again.

Los arroyos Mexican restaurant is by far my favorite place in town for authentic Mexican cuisine. I like going to the Montecito location because I enjoy sitting outside on their patio, usually in a sunny spot. I would say the food is pricier than other Mexican places, but you definitely get the value in the service provided by the staff. another thing I really appreciate is the quality of the ingredients, and the fresh salsa bar. I really like the chipotle salsa, and I always order a sope to go because I never seem to be ready to move on after leaving. my mother and grandmother were both born in Mexico, so I am really lucky to have authentic Mexican food at home and I can safely say that this restaurant food gives me the closest version to what I get from my grandmother! you can always tell by the Rice and Beans! the flavor is on point !

Guacamole is the best! Very dependable Mexican food. Great atmosphere. Service is iffy. Sometimes really good. Sometimes you can't find you waiter.

Ordered a steak quesadilla, with everything on the side. Got 8 quarter slices of flour tortilla and a few bites of steak with the cheese on the side. I get I got everything on side but you'd think being a quesadilla the cheese would be on it. I understand my mistake but when asked if anything could be done, I was told it was my fault and could not do anything. For the price I'm fairly disappointed as I've been coming here for years ordering the same thing almost every time. Great valet though!

Last week we visited Los Arroyos for the first time. The food was delicious (one plate of sopes, one burrito mojado), and so were the drinks (tamarindo margarita, horchata). What made our experience most memorable was the service provided by Pedro. He was already very professional and courteous, but once we shared with him it was our first time there, he went above and beyond to make sure we felt taken care of and happy with our decision to dine there. Thank you Pedro!

Best margarita I have ever had the coconut and passionfruit in it were amazing. I also LOVE Mexican refried beans and they did not disappoint here. Can't believe I've lived in Santa Barbara for so long and has never eaten here other than getting to go house margaritas during the pandemic. Will be frequenting a lot more.

For many years, Los Arroyos has been the family's favorite when in Montecito. There are a pile of good and very good Mexican options in SB and Los Arroyos has always stood out as just a bit better than the rest. Sadly, things have changed. We were in the area and had pre-booked a reservation. Upon arrival the reservation couldn't be located and our table for a party of 8 was not ready. They hastily attempted to source and move some unused tables in the area in front of a real estate office. After about 10-15 minutes we were seated. No wait staff, no set-ups, no chips, no salsa, no drink orders for another 10-15 minutes before any wait staff arrived to take drink orders. No bueno so far. Chips arrived. Stale, room temperature and I swear they may have been a bagged tortilla chip from Vons. Salsa? Nope. Tomato sauce (maybe canned?) with some seasoning. Several in the party commented, independently, that it looked, tasted and had the consistency of Ragu. The menu options looked good and the meal itself was adequate, but certainly not at all what anyone would call "Good". Very disappointing. There are other good options in town and we will be looking for our new "favorite". :(

When visiting Santa Barbara don't forget to indulge in some great Mexican food. Los Arroyos is one of many options where you can't go wrong !

Found Los Arroyos Restaurant by using the Yelp app and it was very satisfying. After a long drive we were starved. They have indoor and outdoor dining and we dined outside they have outdoor heaters to take the night chill away. Our sever Marco's, provided professional service. By greeting us with a friendly tone and a big smile. He quickly, brought out tortillas chips with both a mild salsa and a hot salsa. We order consisted of the following Green Chicken Enchiladas with black beans served in a cute fried tortilla in a vase. Quesadilla entree it was more like a appetizer it was very tasty. Also, a Hand made tacos but the Chimichanga stole the show because of its size. Everything was just perfectly plated perfectly delicious with perfect weather to enjoy our outdoor dining. Definitely recommend Los Arroyos Mexican restaurant in Montecito.

I always stop into this spot when I'm in the area, we love it! The chile con queso is a staple and we order it every time, always so good. The service is lovely and the patio is great on a sunny day. This has been and remains a regular for me!

It's been a while since we've come to this location. We were seated outside and only one of the two heat lamps was working. It wasn't on crofed and would've been nice to provide one that was working. It was a bit cool but we survived. Lol. My daughter and I split the steak fajitas. Now mind you it doesn't say "fajitas for two" but the platter is quite large and was loaded up with a bunch of slimy peppers and onions and a few pieces of very thinly sliced skirt steak. The flavor of the meat was nice. The texture a bit chewy. I mostly had rice and sour cream on a corn tortilla due to the lack of steak. The margaritas were good. Tiny bowls of chips...I guess they don't mind refilling or just hope you won't ask. We did. Just lacking service and don't seem to care about providing warmth on the patio and skimpy servings of meat and I won't be going back any time soon, if at all.

We stopped in here to just have a drink before going to dinner. It was around 3:30 pm and we were the second table seated with no one else waiting. We ordered Margaritas and Chips with guac to snack on. The Margaritas were great, but the service was horrible! I understand we just ordered drinks, but we even had to wait awhile to order a second round. We each had 2 Margaritas and with the chips our bill was $70.

Came in for chicken taquitos and a combination plate... food was really good! Service was even better Felipe was awesome as usual and our bartender Daniel had great drinks recommend the Havana margarita!! Great view close to the beach.

You will love the salmon salad, just perfect every time. The old stand by combination crispy taco, amazing enchiladas, rice and beans are delicious and delightful. Amazing level of quality always here. Consistency all the way around. Enjoy!

We will never come here again. The service is horrible. They are not pet friendly even though they say they are. If you have a dog, they put you on the patio which is segregated away from the restaurant. We were scolded for having the dog on our laps because we were adjusting our dog's collar. That was the first incident. The second again was when we were adjusting her on her leash and the scolded us again. It was like they were hovering over us. We have a small 4 month old puppy that doesn't bark or cause any disruption. We were so put off that we got up and left. The rudeness of the staff was unconscionable. We will NEVER be back and I think they could care less.

We ate here last week and ate outside. It was nice and sunny with plenty of room to feel Covid comfortable. I ordered Tony's alambres which was delicious. The meat (beef) was very tender (not tough) and juicy. Loved the veggies that came with and the cheese on top. I was pleasantly surprised at the delicousness of our food. My girlfriend ordered the fajitas which were also good. I think mine was the better dish. We both ordered the cucumber margarita. I'd pass on that if i were you, pretty flavorless and tasted watered down. Would love to go back and order the same lunch dish and a DiFfErEnT drink!

One last attempt for eating here because all my coworkers love it... I ordered chicken rolled tacos with no sour cream. I got beef rolled tacos with a smidgen of lettuce, a few tomato pieces, side of guacamole and a side of sour cream. I didn't want the plate, I just wanted the rolled tacos. The rice and beans were salty, the tacos were bland and they forgot the cheese, most of the lettuce and tomatoes. Another fail. I'm done. And it was just under $17!

Been here a few times and the Molcajete has always been awesome. I can't speak for the rest of the menu but if you come for the Molcajete you'll be more than satisfied

Excellent, friendly service. The new bar is modern and sleek, a nice addition to the restaurant. Burritos and ceviche are especially delicious. Do not miss out on the churros!
