I was surprised how good the food was at Los Barbaros Birria. Growing up on the Jersey shore we didn’t really have authentic Mexican food. This place serves authentic Mexican Birria tacos and innovative versions of Birria from Tacos to Pizza to Ramen noodle style. Everything was delicious and fresh.

Small hole in the wall type of restaurant but packs a huge punch. Small menu (which Iove) and the birria is delicious. Pizza and noodles are a must try!!!! I can't wait to come back!!!

Loved this little place. It was amazing, so cute, and the food was delicious. Only thing that would have made it better was having tap water to offer. They only have bottled water and canned sodas. Besides that, it was perfect!

All the birria you could ever dream of!!! The perfect place to satisfy your birria craving with delicious, tender meat and flavorful sauce that has the perfect amount of kick. My personal favorite was the noodle birria with hot soup, ramen, and tender beef. It also came with two birria tacos. The pizza birria was a fan favorite amongst my friends and our group was easily satisfied with one slice each. Their drinks are also so good! The pepiloco was a refreshing cucumber drink and the sangria was full of watermelon topped with tajin. All of the drinks paired well with the birria. Service was fast and friendly. They checked on us often and food came out more quickly than expected. Remember to bring cash as TIP IS CASH ONLY! The restaurant space is fairly small with 7-8 tables. We came on a Saturday evening around 6pm and were able to find a table without waiting. The place was full for most of the time we were there with a constant stream of customers so be prepared to wait a little! HIGHLY RECOMMEND for some of the BEST BIRRIA you will ever have!!

Do NOT sleep on this little hole in the wall eatery! Located on Belmar's Main Street, Los Barbaros Birria serves authentic Mexican food. And judging by the name... you can guess that their specialty is BIRRIA! Birria is a traditional dish made mainly of goat, beef, or lamb meat marinated in herbs and spices. When I walked into this restaurant, I KNEW I was in for a good meal. It was crowded and I had to wiggle my way through to get around to the ordering counter. There was a constant influx of people dining in or ordering takeout. The dining area is small so I recommend coming during off hours if you want a table inside. The menu is limited (8 choices), but that usually means the food is fresher and the chefs carefully curate every meal. I ordered the birria tacos with cheese ($16) and a strawberry horchata ($7). It took a little over half an hour to get my food, but the wait was soo worth it. I snagged a table outdoors and dove right in. *Strawberry Horchata- I've always loved horchata (rice milk drink) but I've never had it with strawberry. This drink took my love to the next level! It was refreshing, creamy, and sweet. I could drink a gallon of this, no joke. *Quesabirrias- BIIIIIG portions of juicy, tender, flavorful meat accompanied by a cup of spicy and smoky birria consomme (broth stew). They provided hot sauce, limes, and fresh radishes to bring out more flavor profiles. SO GOOD. I was stuffed after two tacos but there was no way I wasn't going to eat the third.

WOW do love I love birria. The texture, taste, consume for dipping mmmmm. As if the Gods were speaking to me. I happened to open up Facebook and see a video review of the neighboring establishment (I forget the name) and the Reviewer (K Chev) happens to mention LBB. What?! It's lunchtime, I'm 10 months away and undecided what I want for lunch. Let's gooooo!!! I grab my co-worker and we're off. A parking space is available right out front. This place is nicely decorated in Mexican decor. And the menu, is ONLY Birria. Birria tacos, quesadillas, pizza etc. The young lady took our order and we went back to the office to eat. What good stuff, the consume was tasty. I ordered the quesadillas which was loaded with meat and cheese. My co-worker got the tacos. Both of us had a Diet Coke and we were two happy fellas.

This is the crown jewel of Belmar and a must stop. Easy to miss little hole in the wall on main st, but look for the cute tiki hut tables outside! Small yet extremely festive atmosphere inside. Tables will fill up due to how yummy this spot is. The menu essentially has one item in different variations - Birria. You will not be disappointed. FLAVOR!!!!! Pickled radish and lime wedges on the side really help splash a brightness to the tangy dipping juice and dense beef. Don't skip out on the fresh juices whether it be cucumber, watermelon, or horchata. All delicious (I like pepiloco with cucumber, lime, tajin).

Yummy Yummy Birria Tacos!! This little whole in the wall on Main Street is a treat! You have no other options here, you WILL eat Birria! The logistics of the place need some work. I ordered 'for here' at the counter, and grabbed a seat, but that's sorta for table service? I stayed in my seat, and left a tip, but it's confusing Otherwise AWESOME food quality!

When a place specializes in only one thing, you know it's going to be an amazing meal! The Birria came out hot and ready to eat. The tacos were stuffed with meat and plenty of consume left over to start sipping it. I will for sure be back to this place! It would be cool to see a Birria nacho or fry in the future

Deserves every 5 star review it gets! The mixta is a great sampler. The meat is perfectly tender and has incredible flavor. Our server was sweet and on top of it. Cute little spot on Main Street of Belmar. Stop in for probably the best birria you've had! Things to know: parking can be a challenge, this place gets BUSY, the only meat option is beef, no liquor license, cash tips only.

I had recently returned from Mexico and this place made me want to go right back. Beginning with very friendly and informative waitress and cool atmosphere - i got a mixed plate of Birria goodness with the beef consume' and a little radish salad. Drinks were fresh made watermelon and a sangria soda with just the right amount of spice rim on both. A definite return.

Food was amazing. But, funny story....I hastily looked at the menu and it was our first time ordering so I wanted a variety. I didn't realize that the menu consists of the same thing (birria) just in different formats. So we ended up with an insane amount of birria. My favorite application was the round stuffed pizza "thing". It's as heavy as a brick. Everything else was also tremendous. Will definitely order again when we're hungry for shredded beef!

The reviews don't lie. These are some dang good Birria tacos. They do have table service but don't expect a whole lot of ambiance. Think more of a take out joint with some tables. Still, the tacos rock and are worth going out of your way for.

I will always recommend this place to friends. My favorite place to eat birria. Birria and ramen and call me sold. I come here all the time with family and friends. The place is small but in the summer they have outside seating. If coming with a larger group plan accordingly. Street parking is available. Make sure to come hungry. Tip is cash it will not be added to your credit card.

The food and service are fantastic . The ambiance is a small, cozy restaurant feel. The watermelon drink is unique, refreshing, and full-flavored as well. The pizza was ordered by patrons around us, and I will get that next time. My only suggestion would be to add rice and beans or some side dishes.

One of the top places to go for amazing birria tacos. They don't carry chicken, or pork, enchiladas, or chips and salsas. This place specializes in beef birrias only. They serve up one of Central Jersey's best beef birrias you can find. Let's "taco" bout some points that give them the 5 stars worth. They serve 2 to 3 oz of meat in each of their tacos. They make everything fresh and each taco (double wrapped) is generously stuffed to the max. It is substantial. Their birria sauce (consume), for dipping, has the most delicious chunks of beef and it is served piping hot. I felt their consume can rival any beef pot stew. Thank goodness for all those napkins on the table. Trust me, you will need them. The beef is exceptionally juicy! They also have drinks. We ordered a Horchata to share and it is the perfect accompaniment to the tacos. I have had Horchata before and did not care for them which is why Hubby and I wound up sharing it. After my first sip, I realized how incredible it was. The decor was very casual and the staff was very friendly. The clientele are obviously repeat customers as I heard many of them not even needing to look at the menu as they ordered. Each dish is about $15 - $16 and for what you are getting, most likely, you will have to ask for a container to carry some of it home. The dish I ordered was Mixta, which comes with a Mulita, Quesabirria, and Taco de birrias. They also serve homemade hot sauce on the side and it took the tacos to another level of exceptional taste. This place is great!! I hesitate making a review because I would love to keep it a secret but they deserve a lot of business. The decor when you walk in is really fun. The staff is helpful and explains everything. Now onto the food. The broth is incredible and there is so much flavor. I ended up drinking it because it was so good. The ramen was my favorite though!

RUN DONT WALK! This place is excellent. In NJ visiting family from San Diego, CA and this reminds me of authentic Tijuana birria. It's a small place, but we only waited 10 minutes for a table. Absolutely superb!

Don't go here looking for your typical Mexican pork, chicken or fish tacos as you will find none. Also forget the rice and beans as well as the chips and salsa here, nada. They do one thing and do it well, which is to make the best beef tacos to be had at the Jersey Shore. These pulled beef, double wrapped gems with a beef dipping sauce are delicious. A must try if like tacos.

Somehow I've been visiting Mexican restaurants the most frequently on my own accord, but I suppose that's because they're convenient, relatively inexpensive, and the quality of food can be quite high. Naturally I've developed a taste for Birria, which is all the rage right now. I can make this review simple: this is the best Birria I've had yet, which is reassuring for a place that specializes in Birria--besides the non-alcoholic drink menu it makes up the entirety of the menu. Let me say that I was floored by the watermelon juice / Sandia Playera I ordered: it was delightfully sweet and natural, perfect for summer as it's all blended watermelon topped with fresh watermelon on top that's coated in a fruit sauce as well as the Tajin on the rim. I wanted to try multiple styles so I ordered the Mixta, which is essentially three different Birria items: a Mulita with consommé which in my eyes is a significantly better version of a Cheesy Gordita Crunch, a fried taco, as well as a fried quesadilla. This was yet another meal that brought a smile to my face, and I didn't hold back in my enjoyment of the Birria: squeezing a lime on each after taking a bite out of it, then adding the Birria broth with a spoon, and also adding a taste of the side red sauce which added a slight sweet element to an exceedingly rich meal. I loved them all, and was particularly fond of the quesabirria. Being seated outside was pleasant, with the entranceway looking inviting. Birrerias are apparently quite common in Mexico, so the amount of specialties served here shouldn't be surprising. The friendly staff recommended the Birria noodles which do look like they could be tasty, and explained a lot of the menu. Do keep in mind that this isn't the sort of place to come for any specialties beyond Birria, as there are no tortilla chips available and the only dessert option is flan. They do Birria and they do Birria extremely well.

did a takeout order here the other day, got the birria tacos. I've never had a true birria taco and i'd gotta say that this takes the top spot so far. Very good, fresh, and delicious food here. definitely gotta stop by. it's more of a takeout place with a few tables inside. everyone here was friendly, i'd recommend it to anyone

The food was awesome, very flavorful, and quick service. The employees are nice, and don't rush you. I searched this place up for a quick meal with my family, and was not disappointed! Despite the cesspool that is New Jersey, it's very good!

Finally!! A Birria Recipe I can get behind and say. "Yes, this is it!! I want I crave I NEED this at least, once a week!! preferably at home, in all its cheesy, brothy-flavorful, goodness". So - as of the writing of this review- we have enjoyed Los Barbaros 15 times- as a family or as just orders for lunch here and there. Tacos have been the go to, but because I love the noodles, I order the noodles Birria most times, as my own "a la cart", and if anything you need to try them at least once. I, personally like the quesabirrias, I literally pick my tacos into bite size pieces and dunk them into the broth, so it made sense to order the quesabirrias. Plus any left over tortilla, broth, meat, cheese etc, goes into the broth for the next days lunch, which is why I order the noodles, add all of it together and enjoy my heavenly lunch the next day. Trust me, your gonna love it. I have not ordered any of the drinks, since all my orders have been "To-Go" and Jarritos is already a staple in our house fridge and I make our own agua frescas, which isn't to say I won't try them if I order to eat there, I just haven't eaten in yet. FYI, Mini-Me brought Birria home last night because I was sick and needed sustenance, God Bless her, it definitely helped. Comfort food made with love, sometimes just makes all the difference. Okay, I'm done.

Stopped in for lunch. It was clean and quiet , service was great. But the Quesobirria was really good the consommé had great flavor and was not salty, unlike others I have had. Food was out quick, an overall great lunch spot!

Excellent food! Everything my husband and I ate was heavenly. They opened a new location in asbury park. Delicious!! 10/10 will be going again. Affordable and good portion sizes. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable if you have question. The food flavor is point.

Place is a gem! California/Tijuana style. Having lived in San Diego for a few years I can tell you these tacos are legit. They even provide a "broth" style dipping sauce that goes with tacos. Rare to find a place like this in the area.

The attached image is of number 4 Quesabirrias, normally it is also topped with onions but I asked for no onions. The broth that comes with the Quesabirrias is jammed packed with immense flavor! It takes me over 40 minutes to get to the location and by the time I get my takeout home it's slightly warm or room temperature but still tastes AMAZING. Eating on site drives the quality of the food through the roof!

Absolutely blown away. This is a very small establishment with 5 tables inside and about 3 tables outside so expect to wait for seating. The decorations and environment were immersive and well received. The servers are organized and very personable. As someone that lives in California seeing our state's flag plastered outside as well as inside the restaurant had me feeling skeptical, however after seeing the food and having a taste i see that they are truly paying homage to our birria flash-fad that has swept our state as of late. This restaurant blew my expectations out of the water in terms of taste and portion size. Definitely a hidden gem.

Los Barbaros is a STAPLE spot for central jersey birria, by far. One of the few places you can get some quick, authentic birria tacos. They are super fresh, served with a flavorful signature birria sauce, and can even come in the form of birria ramen! The sandia drink I got was awesome (was not a fan of the chili salt rim tho?) Overall great spot! Chill ambiance; this is definitely a grab and go. It's a good place in the summer since there's ton of outdoor seating. Servers were good.

Really wanted to try the birria ramen but was not impressed. It is packed with noodles but there wasn't much broth. The ramen seems to be like your basic square pack ramen. I didn't end up eating it all because I wasn't a fan. I will say though that the tacos themselves are delish! The place was packed though and there wasn't a place to sit as all the tables were taken. It seemed like people were really enjoying the food. I'll be back again but not for the ramen. Go for the other items on the menu.

It's hard to go wrong with Birria. This place was really good, although, was a bit more expensive than other places.

Wr ordered the tacos de birria, the noodle birria, and the quesabirrias. The broth was delicious, especially after adding the red hot sauce that they came with. All of the food was hot and the ingredients were very fresh! They also came with plenty of limes/lemons and radish slices for garnish. The noodle birria was so jam packed with noodles and meat that there was almost no room for broth (so we added some from the other cups). Both the tacos and quesabirrias came with about 12 oz broth. The only drawback was that there wasn't much of a taste difference between either (one had cheese and one didn't-and not much cheese). The menu doesn't have many options either (basically the same thing presented differently)...but still, it was good

We got some takeout birria and queso birria tacos, they were SUPER good. The consume was actually seasoned which is where I find most places fail. I even drank it afterwards even though it was a hot day. I would totally recommend it. Only giving 4 stars because even though it was really good it didn't leave me wide eyed. I would absolutely go back again or bring others.

What a great place to enjoy a style of Mexican food. This place was outstanding! Service was great. Food was just awesome. If your not sure what you want ask for a mixta. A sampler of their better known fare. The picture below gives you a better idea. A definite place to check out.

Wow! Just when I thought I knew "good" birria, this place comes along and turns everything I knew upside down. By far the best birria I've ever had. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to our requests, food was made first and prepared quickly. The food itself was great- generously portioned and the consommé was not overly oily or fatty like I've experienced at other locations. I do wish the menu was larger as a lot of the items are pretty similar, but it's clear that this restaurant has found what they're good at and there's no reason to stray away from it when the food is this great. Loved it!
