A Guide to the Food and Drink to Try at My People’s Market August 2021 - Eater Portland

"This is the debut of the burger pop-up from Portland artist Lorenzo de Alicante, who is entering the now extremely competitive smash burger league in Portland. Lo's little hit of heat in the burger's special sauce may set it ahead of the pack, however. Either way, My People’s Market will be the first place to try it." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
I ordered the standard Lo’s burger but subbed in an Impossible patty. When the person dropped it off at my table they said “You’re in for a treat” and they weren’t wrong!!! Our picky 5-year-old: “Mm, the burger is good!!” And she’s not wrong either!! I’ve now been here I think 3 times in the last 2 weeks, it is without a doubt my favorite burger in the city right now. Try it with the hot honey sauce!!

The burgers are great, the people are nice. I usually hate most places burger sauce but I'm glad I didn't skip this one because it's amazing. A little spicy, but not offensively spicy. Will be back.

Google
💯 best burger in town - Lo has it going on. If you want a truly unique smash burger, this is the place! You gotta try their bag of fries and his Hot Honey dip.

Google
God damn. Stopped on a whim and glad we did. Best smash burger so far. The Cheeto one was fire and you got a get that hot honey. 8 bucks for enough fries to feed an army. 10/10 will come again.

I'm really blown away, I'm not kidding when I say these are probably the best burgers I've ever had! Went out to eat with my little brother and had these for the first time, we were absolutely shocked, the lo's burger is magnificent.. definitely recommend and WILL be having again!!

Tucked away in this food cart alcove is this intensely satisfying burger joint. I _really_ enjoyed the Macha burger—it was very tasty in a straightforward way. The waffle fries were waffle fries, decent but unsurprising.

Google
By far the best burger in town. We had had an amazing Smashburger previously and couldn’t remember if it was at star bar or creepys bar. Upon strolling the neighborhood and being lured in by an adorable burger cartoon promising 7$ smash burger( lo and behold!) what do I find? But los burgers. This place could not have done it better. I devoured my perfect smash burger beestttt in town in 1.5 minutes. 45 seconds in I wanted one more but was happy after finishing. The patty is Lacey and crispy and extends past the bun it is perfectly seasoned(coming from a southerner) the lettuce was the perfect amount and texture and I nearly levitated guys. Best- I repeat- best!!!! smash burger in town! 10/10

Yelp
I feel like the Williams food cart pods are still under the radar and a little hard to find unless you're looking for a place and Lo's Burgers is no different. It's in a newer pod area and there's just a sign near the entrance to let you know they are in the back of the area. They seem fairly newer but I enjoyed that they had a covered tent that they pump hot air into during the colder days. As for the burgers? Who doesn't love a good smash burger especially when they have twists on your favorites like the Oklahoma burger with plenty of onions. I'd recommend getting double patty if you're hungrier and want a more filling burger. Don't skimp on their fries either since they were fried to perfection! Great pairing with the melty cheese of the burgers and their sauces. Don't skimp on getting some extra ones on the side.

Yelp
unintentionally tried this little hidden gem. smelt the food & watched someone walked out from the side of the building with a bag of food, so I'd say our noses guided us here. first, the guy taking our order was so nice & helpful. we were indecisive, but he was patient with us & told us about some items on the menu. we ended up going with the esquites, waffles fries, Macha & Baddy burger. the Macha burger was spicyyy but in a good way. the patty was cooked perfect with slight char & melted cheese. the esquites(corn) was good but a little watery for my liking. the waffle fries were cooked perfectly. i docked 1 star because my burger was super greasy. maybe from the spicy sauce? my partner had the Baddy burger & he liked it as well. there's a tent with a heater in there so you don't get too cold while you wait for your food. it's hidden behind a building, but just keep going all the way to the back & you'll see them

Yelp
Best smash burger I've ever had. Got it the "Lo's way". The pickles are a nice added touch. Burger was charred perfectly. Waffle fries with the burger sauce = perfection!

Yelp
I had this burger for burger week at creepy's and didn't realize there's a truck on Williams. It was just as good as I remember. SO glad there's one near me. 10/10

Yelp
Food was amazing! The person taking orders was super cool and brought food out to heated tint. I went at night so it was super cold. I was lucky to be near heater. This place is tho! Gotta try!

Yelp
Three hours into a tattoo session, and the only thing keeping me going was scrolling through photos of Lo's Burgers. That was my first stop when I got out and it did not disappoint. I was able to call in the order ahead of time (two impossible smash burgers, one regular smash burger, a big bag and a side of waffle fries, hot honey special sauce and Lo's sauce), which was ready in 15 minutes. I easily found a 15 minute parking spot a few steps away from the food cart pod entrance. The person who rang me up (who I believe I also talked to on the phone) was super nice and informed me they accidentally made the meat burger a double, which my husband was not upset about. They have a chill little covered seating areas shared by a few food carts. Prices were very reasonable. You do pay extra for the sauce, but they gave us a ton! I go nuts on condiments and it was more than I could finish. The big bag of fries were perfectly cooked and so huge, it was more than enough to share for two people. The veggie burger was possibly the best I've had in Portland! Crispy on the edge and soft in the center, with pickles, Lo's sauce, and a buttery bun. Some places overcomplicate the veggie burgers or overdo the toppings, but I think Lo's does it right - they keep it simple and let the burger speak for itself. Couldn't recommend this place enough. We will 100% be back.
