Los Carnalitos Food Truck

This is my first time at the Taco truck and it was SO GOOD! I ordered the Gringa and a Taco with Sudero. The Gringa was perfect! Heavenly bites and the Sudero Taco was soooo tasty! I'm coming back and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I bought a pastor burrito and a pastor alambre (a type of taco dish). I didn't eat it there; I ordered it to go. When I opened it, I realized that all my food was burned, it was tough, and it tasted spoiled. I couldn't go back because I was already far from the tacotruck. I work and travel from place to place, and I was too far away to go back and return the food. This happened on February 4th around noon in the truck that was on El Camino Real in Redwood City.

Sometimes I think I may have some Mexican in me! I love Mexican food and tacos. Probably shouldn't but could eat tacos everyday! Los Carnalitos makes really good Al Pastor tacos! Very rich flavor in each bite! Order 3 with a soda, a full meal!

First time to go May/2021 and it was tasty, loved it. I ordered a $2.50 taco Al Pastor (grilled pork) which was very very good, highly recommended. I also really liked the Chorizo taco which is mildly spicy. The $2.75 Lengua (yes, tongue) and taco is pretty good if you like softer bites. I will definitely be coming back to try the many other items that look great! The Al Pastor Burrito Super is one of the best burritos anywhere for $10.

We had a burrito super that was huge but one of the best we’ve ever had. The al pastor torta was outstanding and great prices! Came back recently and loved the food! The portions are enough for at least two meals!

Very sad tortas, little to no meat tacos tortilla are not hand made. Received my food without salsa

This is the best Bay Area taco I've ever had. Recently my hobby is a taco tour in Bay area. I like that they give you a slice of cucumber for every taco. Ah, the tacos here are super hot temperature that even in the summer, steam rises from the asada, so I recommend eating them as soon as you receive them. Tripa, Cochinita Pibil and Asada good.

Let me tell you, first and foremost, Los Carnalitos is anything but "just another taco truck." No way! This is literally the best hidden gem off the El Camino Real. Truly! I have experienced many a taco spot... and nothing compares to the utter freshness, flavor and bang-for-your-buck type of value that is offered here. Due to the Lenten season, my hubs and I were looking for a place that offered seafood tacos and this place was rumored to be the best. After stopping by on our way out of town recently, we knew instantly this was true. The aguas frescas are served iced cold and 100% fresh. My agua de guayaba and my hubs' agua de tamarindo were absolutely to die for. You could absolutely taste the fresh fruit for each. Now for the best part. On Friday's they have a special: $5 fish tacos with tortillas made fresh and by hand... complete with all the fixings. The fish is hand battered, made to order and served piping hot, dressed with cabbage, pico de gallo, and a combination of mayo and chipotle aioli. The picture simply doesn't do it justice, folks. Hands down, the best fish tacos in the area. 100/10. The team aboard this truck are friendly, quick and serve every dish up with a smile. Truly elevating the unique experience. While I was only lucky enough to stop for fish tacos, I look forward to future trips to Los Carnalitos for a sampling of their many menu options, especially the fried banana for dessert!! Note: this truck accepts both cash AND card... and they do honor door dash orders!

Ordered some tacos, torta and quesadilla today. Food isn't as great as it use to be. Much smaller portions than before and flavor isn't too great anymore. The torta was dry and sad looking . My taco order was wrong although there was one person before us. My agua fresca didn't even have ice. Won't be coming to eat here again. So sad as this place had really good food.

Ordered a super al pastor burrito and it was very underwhelming. I live about 10 minutes away but when I got home I was surprised to find that my burrito was really cold when I got home. Not room temperature but COLD. Also the burrito was a lot smaller than other burritos in the area for the same price. I was surprised because I came here a few years ago and remember it being really good. Very disappointed today but maybe I need to try something else.

Having lived in San Diego for almost two years, my husband is always looking for good tacos. Truthfully, they don't exist any further north than SD, but one can always hope. As far as places we've tried in the Bay Area, Los Carnalitos is one of the better ones in terms of quality and value. It's a food truck parked next to a parking lot, so there's no seating. My husband ordered the lengua, suadero, and pastor tacos, for $3.50-$4 each. He thought they were fine, but didn't scratch the itch. I ordered a veggie taco that was definitely my favorite of the ones we've tried in the Bay. Most places here will just give you rice and beans, or maybe some grilled bell peppers, and sell it to you for $5-7 dollars -- total rip offs. Veggie options shouldn't be afterthoughts (but they usually are), and I'm glad that Los Carnalitos puts in the effort to offer an actual dish. The veggie tacos come with nopales, squash blossoms, mushrooms, and huitlacoche. The only thing missing was some grilled cheese and a bit more seasoning, but I honestly would still give these a 4/5 for the ingredients and the cost.

Came by to pick up some dinner! Ordering was fast and our food was ready pretty quickly after as well. Omg the food was so good! The al pastor was amazing. Having lived in SD for many years this definitely scratched the mexican food itch! I wish this was closer to me but this is definitely gonna become one of my top go to's for mexican up here!

A friend recommended this spot, so I decided to check it out, and i'm glad I did! Good mexican food can be hard to come by in San Mateo, especially a food truck, but this one absolutely delivers. I ordered the super burrito with carne asada and chose the green salsa. The burrito was flavorful, satisfying and well made. It's tough to find a food truck that really nails it, but this one hit the mark! I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu items. The staff was friendly and quick, the food truck is located in the gas station so you can find parking on the street nearby.

Decided to come here on a Monday during lunch since it was relatively close to work. The truck is located right next to a lot, making it easy to find and making the parking process a lot easier. There was only one other customer in front of us when we got there at around 12:45 PM. I ordered two asada beef tacos and one pastor pork taco. My coworkers' and my orders were all ready really quickly! It might be important to note that there's not really any seating near the truck -- we just sat down on the sidewalk and ate there. The taco meat options were all really tender and well seasoned! I love how loaded the tacos were with meat, cilantro, onions, and even cucumber on the side -- such a killer for under $4. I loved the flour tortilla a lot, as well as the sauce provided. I will say though, that as a relatively slow eater, the inner pieces of my taco did break through the two tortillas, but not a huge deal breaker at all. Regardless, the flavors complimented each other really well, and these tacos were definitely one of the greatest I've had in the Bay Area. I will definitely come back again and try different menu items!

The food was good, but they were a little stingy with the meat for $14. I got more cheese and lettuce than meat. The service was average, with about a 10-20 minute wait. The sauce was really good though, so make sure to ask for two! The spot is located on the side of the street next to Planned Parenthood.

I have gotten this a few times for meetings and via DoorDash. The food is phenomenal!!! Absolute burst and melody of flavors. I love their Gringa (al pastor quesadilla) and tacos (cochinita and asada with pineapple). The meat is always tender, the pickled red onions were flavorful and rich with zing, and the portions are perfect. I look forward to going to their food truck to try much more of their food!

This truck is 5 mins from my house, but I didn't become a fan until I went w my best friend, who loves them.i think I ordered wrong previously. Biggest positive- they have suadero , which is very hard to find. Quality of lengua varies, but suadero is bomb. There's other items I'd like to try, but I always end up w tacos. Highly recommend !

A lonchera with good food, fast service, and good portions. We stumbled across them when looking for tacos and they did not disappoint. They had a mini trompo for the al pastor inside which was full of flavor. The carnitas taco was also very good and could have been easily 2 tacos rather than 1. It looks like they have rotating specials and the alambre for the price is a bargain. It came with enough tortillas to do multiple tacos and still have left overs for another lunch. They also have your typical Mexican dishes with a flare from el DF.

Used to love this taco truck, but it's just not the same anymore. The flavors don't hit like they used to, and the quality feels different. Kind of disappointing since it used to be my go-to spot.

So thankful to have their truck nearby my office! Ever since my experience at the Hayward location, I knew I'd be back again. I came with some co workers and I enjoyed my Gordita with chicharron! This is phenomenal; all the ingredients just came together perfectly. The chicharron was creamy and it reminded me of having a papusa. I wasn't a fan of their tinga quesadilla which is their shredded chicken soaked in this red tomato sauce. This tasted like a soaked enchilada rather; I wouldn't order this again. I did however, try my friend's taco with cabeza meat and it was tender and tasted amazing! I will definitely order these next time. I'll be back again!

Wow happy to finally try! They have guaraches!!! And tasty tiny tacos The asada was tasty and the al pastor yum! Over all 5 stars

This place is good the only bad thingis you cant get a gordita of anything else pa chicharon makes no different but i wont be coming back

Not much to add to others except to say that the flavors were all there with this real deal Mexico City cuisine taco truck. I thoroughly enjoyed my gordita de chicharron. The folks after me got huarache sencillo which looked amazing. I expected it would be problematic to be around the corner from the gaggle of Planned Parenthood protesters who are out 24/7, but I barely noticed them. I thought there might be a chair or two to eat in, but there weren't any. I ate standing at the shelf on the side of the truck. I enjoyed my order so much I didn't care. I will be a regular.

So this review is only for the tacos which is all I tried. Me and wife drove an hour to try this place after a recommendation. I will say it was worth the drive. I got two carne asada tacos and two carnitas tacos with a horchata to wash it down. The carne asada tacos were the best I've had outside Yuma AZ. And fyi Yuma does have the best tacos. The carnitas were also good as was the horchata. Wife agreed with my assessment. Will definitely be back even with the drive. They are that good.

Very authentic and good food from a food truck. Lingua taco was great. And then the burrito is truly huge -- I would say for me it's around 1.3 meals, so it's a good snack 4 hrs later if I'm still up and feeling hungry.

One of my favorites Mexican food trucks in Redwood city. Good and tasty food. Reasonable prices. Really liked the quesadillas.

Not sure how this food truck is associated with La Fonda, but it is. I was super excited to see items like nopales (cactus) and huitlacoche (corn smut) on the menu. We ordered al pastor tacos ($2.75 each), veggie tacos ($3.75 each), and an azteca huarache - basically a massive open-face taco ($13). The tortillas weren't as good as La Fonda, but it still hit the spot for me. The truck is parked right outside the Planned Parenthood clinic. Unfortunately, there were quite a few protesters, but luckily they were a good 20-30ft away from the truck. My main complaint is that the prices I was charged didn't match the prices listed on the truck. Only the al pastor taco was the correct amount. The cashier tacked on an extra $0.75 for the veggie taco and $1 for the huarache. I don't mind paying extra, but at least let me know beforehand?! I'll probably just stick to La Fonda. At least I know the quality of the tortillas are better at the restaurant and I'll be charged accurately.

Delicious and flavorful! Got the asada regular burrito and it was such a big portion! They definitely don't shy away from putting a hefty amount of meat which is great! The carne was so juicy and cooked just right. The rice and beans in there were perfectly seasoned and the delicious melted cheese just sent it over the top. The red spicy salsa that we asked for on the side, had such a nice smokey heat that I enjoyed a lot!

Delicious! I tried the Torta de la Casa and Gordita. Both were so yummy, but I think I preferred the Torta a little more. The breaded beef on it was so good. The tomato and avocado were perfect on top. It had a good kick, but it's not too spicy. The Torta was huge, and next time I might share it with someone else. But I can't wait to go back! Service was pretty quick. It was kinda busy at lunch on a Friday, several online orders were coming through too. I think I waited less than 10 minutes for my order. Ambiance can be interesting, since it's near the planned parenthood. Somehow there weren't any protestors when I went.

A superior al pastor burrito. I probably should have got something more special than a burrito but it was pouring rain and the hand held form factor of a burrito can't be beat in that type of environment. The pastor was flavorful and that good mix of tender and crispy that makes large rotating cones of meat so good.

Really good food, I did come at the end of the day and only had pollo tacos available but it's was awesome nevertheless. The cucumber slices and that hot sauce they give you is what sets up the taco. So good!!!! The next day I went again and ordered the same thing but the carne asada tacos with the pollo tacos... Dang might be coming almost every week haha!!! Ya it's better to go earlier in the day so don't get disappointed if they run out at the end. What's in that hit sauce I gotta know haha!

Awesome food truck! Fast and authentic food, right off a parking lot. Tried several things here and all great. It's especially exciting that they have great Al pastor, cooked in the traditional spit and served with pinnacle, despite being a good truck! Great burritos especially. A fave!

This has been thee taco truck for me for the last 5 years. The lengua is generous, and the quesadilla with huitlacoche is bomb.

Ordered twice over two weeks. And the first time perfect the food was so good the you can tell the cook on the line that day loved his job. The next order the asada was over cooked and very unseasoned. The portion of beans was not worth what I paid. But overall good but inconsistent and also no Aguas. The lady was really nice tho.

We tried this place at an event that they catered. Their taco cart selection had chicken, asada, fajitas, rice, and beans + a full salsa bar with pico, green and red salsa, lime, cucumber, radish, etc. We liked the chicken and veggie tacos the best. We really loved the guava and mango agua frescas too! Not too sweet and it's hard to find guava agua fresca near where we are so that was a treat.

My brother found this place a while ago and I tried his leftover carnitas quesadilla and was sold!! Never have I ever had a tortilla like theirs! It really sets them apart from all the other places! I was a bit skeptical at first since it is a truck (located right in front of a planned parenthood too)...but don't let that deter you from trying this place! My husband and I decided to try this place recently since we were in the area, and I wish this truck parked in front of my house!! Lol! The mushroom quesadilla is worth trying too! Horchata was just right sweetness and consistency, a great compliment to the food. I wish we lived closer to try more of their items, but we for sure have this place bookmarked whenever we are on the Redwood City area!

Ya para este tiempo deberían de tener calculado cuánta mercancía necesitan para un viernes ocupado. Como que no pueden vender una orden de 10 tortas por falta de pan?? No manchen se pasan. Y la otra vez fue por tortillas. No pues wow entonces mejor solo habrán 4 horas al día y ya. Que deception.

The pastor burrito. Hot dang. Going down as one of my favorites. Ask for salsa. They are generous. Hospitable and great chance to practice Spanish!

I've now been to Los Carnalitos 4 times and I have to say, it literally is as good as it gets. Yes, the wait time is annoying. Yes, the portion sizes vs price can be a little annoying. But after many trips, I literally can't think of a better Mexican spot. So the pambazo - get it with pork belly. It's like this amazing, sloppy, crispy, spicy, charred, meaty, rich, fatty... basically all the great food words. The torta de la casa - meat bomb, don't think about cholesterol, it's so amazing in the variety of meaty flavors you can have at once. The gordita - a meat/cheese/crispy bomb for your mouth. The gringa - spicy, crispy, porky, fatty, just overall drool worthy. Every single thing I've ever ordered has been just so dang amazing. Like I can't even nitpick because for a lot of these, I literally have no yardstick. Los Carnalitos is just the best and that's that. Despite the crazy waits I love this place, they make the best Mexican food, they are slow, but it's worth it. Literally can't think of any better spot.

This place used to be the best, the last many times I've been here it was not and I will never be coming here again. It's so expensive now, the same price as a sit down restaurant. So I would still pay to eat tasty tacos if it's good but the tacos vary and usually it's really bad. The Gordita I ordered was completely raw inside with cornmeal mush for almost $10. Since they don't understand English well I just tossed it and didn't get a refund but it sucks. Not coming back.

We couldn't find our usual food truck and decided to give Los Carnalitos a try. They have the usual stuff tacos burritos etc. but we tried some their SENCILLO / CON NOPALES. Nopales are the cactus leaves. We were expecting to see bits of cactus but it's incorporated into the tortilla. Lots of interesting things in the menu. We can't wait for our next visit. Try something new!

Taco truck located beside the planned parenthood parking lot. Must get: burrito super $14 with asada. Super saucy with their spicy salsa and sour cream. They cut the meat super small so each bite is meaty and just wants you to continue to indulge. Also got the quesadilla Azteca $14. Surprised that it was a vegetarian friendly as it is filled with cheese and mushrooms with lettuce. Good but after that burrito, sorry the burrito is hands down better. Credit card friendly and lots of street and parking available in the parking lot. Service was quick as it seems like it's a two women show in the truck. Remember to ask for extra hot salsa on the side.

The most classic taco truck on the side of the road vibes. I got the Al Pastor Huarache and my boyfriend got 3 different tacos. This was my first time trying a huarache and it was fantastic! The tortilla was freshly made and they load it up with meat! I thought it was a better deal than tacos. Be warned, it is a bit spicy! I would definitely get it again though. There were no tables so we ate our food in the back of our car. Service was great and I will definitely be coming back!

There are taco trucks and then there is Los Carnalitos, which is unique in a variety of ways. Menu items such as the huaraches, gorditas, and pambazos is what brings me back each time. If you want to stick with what you are used too, the standard fare of burritos, tacos, quesadillas can be found here. Until visiting here I had no concept of what huaraches was. Their huarache is made with a hand-made corn tortilla (see picture for size) topped with your choice of meat, black beans, cheese, cilantro, onions, and salsa. Seeing the pastor spinning around while I was waiting in line, I opted for the Huarache de Pastor y Nopales, which means meat and cactus. The pastor pieces were good size, and the hand-made tortilla really brings it all together. One order was good for a singular meal. If you like a little bit of spice, this dish definitely brings it. I've also enjoyed their torta milanesa, which is breaded beef and packed with flavor. A good option when I am feeling more sandwich type vibes. They are open til 8 or 9pm (depending on the day). Ordering here is pretty simple. Place your order on the left side, and pick up on the right side when they call your name. I typically spend around $10-15, just depends on how hungry I am.The value is great for the quality of flavor. If your order 'for here,' your food will come out on a plate, to-go will either be wrapped in foil or placed in a box. Seating is non-existent, so plan to eat curbside or in your car. Parking is typically street parking, and they take cash or card. Lines can get long around peak times, so call ahead and save some time.

2/13/21- Came back for another delicious round of tacos! Was still impressed with the quality of food at Los Carnalitos. There was a big crowd at lunch so expect a wait but the food is worth it! -Al Pastor (roasted pork) tacos- My favorite! The pork is tender, chewy, and smoky. The pineapple pieces added was also perfection. You get a nice savory aroma with each bite but the sweet note from the pineapple gave the taco a delicious burst of flavor. Highly recommend. -Asada (beef) tacos- The beef was also smoky in flavor but the texture was a bit more tough compared to the roasted pork. This was still delicious and I would also recommend it! The meat is more chewy than the pork so depending on how you like your tacos, you may or may not want to go with the asada. -Lengua (tongue)- I decided to be a little adventurous and try the lengua taco! The texture was pretty interesting. It was quite mushy and felt like a very tender pot roast. The flavor was still great but I prefer my tacos to have a little more chew. This was a little too soft for me but I'm glad I tried it! -Price/value- Tacos were $2.50 each and they were pretty loaded with meat, onions, and cilantro! You can't go wrong with the delicious food here! Food truck tacos are always the way to go.

On SF Gate's Top 25 Restaurants list (as of January 2021). Technically, their brick and mortar location in Hayward is on the list, but they started as a food truck, and their menus are very similar, if not the same. Los Carnalitos is located on a small side street in front of the Planned Parenthood parking lot. 4 stars overall, and 5 stars for their Gringas, but it was a mixed experience for the other items I tried this time around. However, they have a really unique menu, and I'll need to come back to try their other items (alambres, pambazos, panucho, cemita, etc). They even have a huitlacoche/corn smut quesadilla available! I'm tempted to give that a try even though I haven't liked the huitlacoche preparations I've had in the past. It has that funky/pungent taste similar to a bleu cheese, but with some smoky notes. I called in my order around 5pm on a Thursday, and my order was ready in 10-15 minutes. It was starting to get busy when I arrived around 5:15pm, so come early or call in your order to avoid having to wait. I tried: -Tacos Suadero, Al Pastor, Asada, Carnitas ($2.50/each, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=_IORD4zBtwyPnhMwHo3qgA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): I think I got a chicken taco versus suadero, since it didn't taste like beef, so I'll have to try that one again. Out of the tacos I tried, their al pastor was my favorite, although it was a little dry in the taco version since they cut the pieces smaller. I loved the pineapple in their version, but would prefer ordering it as a Gringa. The asada, carnitas, and pollo were ok but nothing special, and I wouldn't order those again. -Gringa ($7.50, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=nbjVfUREIIsJoBXBUhF2Aw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): SO GOOD- A MUST TRY! This was a little spicy, which was perfect for me since I like spice. -Gordita ($7.50, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=LIuHfCDtvlqV4G7EugEjpw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): This was GIANT, but I didn't like the combination of ingredients. The masa was a little hard; however, I didn't eat this right away and had to microwave it, which may have changed the consistency. I also don't usually eat refried beans or chicharrons, and really should not have ordered this since it was full of things that weren't my favorite. Feel free to ignore my option on this item. They have two salsas available- their red salsa is mild/medium spicy, and their green salsa is SPICY. Very good, but SPICY. I will have to come back for more of their al pastor, and to try their other menu items. Customer service was surprisingly friendly. Parking was easy at the time since you can use the spots in the parking lot they are parked in front of.

Have you ever eaten a sandal? Chewing on shoe leather might not sound like the most pleasant pastime, unless you're eating a huarache, a Mexican street food that shares its name with a traditional Mexican sandal! The (edible) huarache is a long sandal-shaped flatbread made of masa stuffed with a black bean purée and finished off with salsa and a choice of toppings! It's one of the many Mexico City street foods you'll find on the menu at the food truck Los Carnalitos, and my pick was the Huarache Azteca, which came with toppings of cactus, mushrooms, huitlacoche (corn smut, a fungus that grows on corn!), and squash blossoms, along with salsa verde, onions, cilantro, and queso fresco! This was a delicious amalgamation of vegetarian ingredients--the umami flavor of the mushrooms, huitlacoche, and cheese; the chewy texture of the cactus; and theAli acidity of the salsa and the squash blossoms all came together nicely. As a bonus, the huarache was built on a handmade corn tortilla cooked fresh to order! In addition to the huarache, I also tried two tacos: the al pastor (carved directly from a rotating spit inside the truck) topped with pineapple, and the cochinita pibil (marinated braised pork) topped with the most refreshing pickled pink onions! Both of the tacos were built on two small yellow corn tortillas and came with sides of cucumber, lime, and a spicy, slightly creamy green salsa that really enhanced the flavors of the meats.

Absolutely fire Mexican food. A mix of Oaxacan, Yucatán and Mexico City style street food. We ordered a quesadilla Azteca (I didn't get a picture of that unfortunately), tacos de carne asada, carnitas, and pibil, carne asada super burrito (no picture) and a Gordita de Chicharron! The tacos were perfect. The carnitas and pibil were so well marinated and juicy. Carne asada was slightly on the dry side in my taco, but my brother ordered a carne asada super burrito and it was so flipping good! The quesadilla azteca took my husband and I by wonderful surprise. Made on a handmade red masa tortilla, it was filled with delicious veggies. Lettuce, fresh cheese, salsa, corn smut, squash blossom, mushrooms and nopales (cactus). It was so scrumptious we forgot it was meatless! The perfect balance of cheese, salsa and fillings. The Gordita was also so tasty. We'd never tried a Gordita, it kind of reminded me of a Venezuelan arepa with not as much sauce. The handmade corn tortillas just bring everything to a whole new level.
