"Serving classic Salvadoran fare, Los Chorros has been a dining destination for 30 years. Of course, the pupusas are a must-try, but there are plenty of other options. Order the higado des res — sauteed beef livers with onions — or pollo a la crema, chicken cooked in a cilantro cream-based sauce." - Tim Ebner

So it was my first time here on the recommendation of my girlfriend who loves this place and I must say I was thoroughly impressed by many things here. First was the great service that we received from Patty as she was very quick to greet us and take our drink and food orders. Within a couple minutes the drinks arrived and they were very delicious. I got a margarita and my girlfriend got her signature drink that she likes. We then moved on to entrees which arrived very quick and were piping hot and fresh! The food was very tasty and you could tell that whoever was in the kitchen was really thoughtful and put love into the food they prepared. Even the chips and salsa are handmade ❤️ Overall this was an excellent experience and a highly recommend this place, this was my first but certainly not my last visit! Thank you so much for making our evening memorable and the wonderful service and delicious food was a plus. They also have a beautiful mural out front that was done the same way it was in El Salvador so authentic all around!

Our family has been going to Los Chorros for years. The staff treat us like family and it is always wonderful to stop in. I don't think I've ever had a bad experience here. We went in on a Sunday for lunch and things were quiet. Our server was with us right away and checked in throughout the meal. He was polite and helpful. We got chips and salsa, both were fresh and tasty. I got the Trios Enchiladas, which is my favorite. Portions are huge, everything came out fast and hot, and everything tasted great. I love that I get a little side plate with sour cream, guac, and pico de gallo to go with the enchiladas. The rice was good as well. All three enchiladas were different and super tasty. After lunch I got the xango for dessert, it's like a deep fried puff full of cheesecake. It came with ice cream and a cherry. It was hot and fresh and really good. I also love their tres leches cake, it's always fresh and delicious. The interior is a bit dated and could use some upkeep, but the door isn't hard to find with its beautiful mural. I am looking forward to going back to Los Chorros with family for many years to come!

We came in with a party of 40 after a funeral. The deceased and her family are long time patrons. The food was excellent and the care and attention given by the staff was superior. I have eaten here for the past 30 years and have always had 5 star experiences.

Google
The best spot for pupusas in the DMV. Been going there since I was child and for the last 20 years their pupusas have yet to disappoint. Every time I try another places Pupusas I find myself coming back to Los Chorros to clean my palate and remember what greatness taste like.

People here (Juan Ovidio) are disrespectful and deceitful. I placed an order over the phone and picked it up. Once I got home, I noticed that I was missing 2 Items. I immediately called to let them know. Juan Ovidio basically said I was lying… then said come back and get them. I get back to the restaurant and in front of customers said “they were there” but we will give them to you. Basically saying I was lying. I told him to forget about it and walked out. On top of this we ordered a Sopa de Pollo, now where have you seen chicken soup made with Chicken wings that you Fry?! Please look at this picture. 15 dollars for this chicken wing soup?! You just lost a customer. Be sure to double check your orders before leaving this place if you place an order. Never coming here again.

I like the atmosphere 👌 in the restaurant, music is quiet so I can have a good conversation with the family. Las pupusas are very good, and the coffee ☕️ comes with free refills. Plenty parking and an easy access location.

I’ve been coming to Los Chorros for over 25 years. It’s my go-to spot for excellent authentic Salvadoran food in Maryland. Family owned and operated. They have some of the best pupusas in all of the DMV.

Google
I’ve been going here since middle school and always stop by when I’m visiting family. Great food, prices and think it’s run by the same folks for decades. The 1 star reviews must be bots…

Yelp
I looked at the other reviews before sitting down to write this. With so many commenting on the service, it might have made me change my mind. I decided that I would try a Salvadorian dish since I'm here! I got the Carne a la Parilla with two eggs over easy and fried plantains. The husband got the Especial Intipucá which consisted of beef steak, chicken breast, and Spanish sausage and served with pico de gallo, rice and beans. My NY strip steak was prepared really well. I wanted the meat to be medium and it was perfectly pink and soft. I really enjoyed my entire entree. I like refried beans to be creamy and this was. The eggs on the steak were a good addition to the dish. If I was making it, I would make the eggs more runny but if this is how it is normally prepared, it was fine as well. And absolutely no complaints with the fried plantains. The husband also enjoyed his meal and liked the grilled flavor of the chicken. He liked the variety of meats in his dish and it was nice to try something new for the both of us. I dropped a star because service was extremely slow. We waited too long for our food and our server did apologize for the wait. There was a huge party that day that the restaurant was trying to accommodate but we did arrive before the restaurant started to fill up and before the party. Our server did check on us a couple of times. I don't understand why restaurants don't just offer something for their customers when they know they've been waiting too long for their entrees to be ready. They could have offered more chips and salsa or something. I think I will be back. I noticed the table next to us ordered a dish that I would love to try. I think it was the surf and turf with a whole sauteed lobster. That looked amazing. Plenty of parking a few steps away at the county parking lot which is free on Sundays.

Yelp
Extremely expensive prices 1 Pupusa $3.40 I can't believe No good flavor and the sauce is not natural is artificial, I don't recommend this place.

Yelp
I saw this place on Groupon and my fiancé and I went last week. At first we went in and we're skeptical as there were several waiting for pick up orders and most of the staff were in the kitchen. When someone finally came out we asked for a table. Our waiter came and was vey friendly. We told him about the Groupon which was 80 dollars enough to cover appetizers, two entrees, and a pitcher of margaritas which we wanted. To drink we had a pitcher of frozen mango and peach margaritas. They can do up to two flavors combined and it was a great combo. For our appetizer we had a House Combination for 2 which had all sorts of tasty items including a cheese quesadilla, nachos, chicken wings, taquitos, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. For our entrees we shared the combination Salvadorena which had a chicken tamale, chicken papusa (substituted instead of pork), plantains, rice, and beans as well as Chef's Tacos which included beef steak, grilled chicken, and beef tongue tacos. All in all, we loved the food and drinks as it was both affordable and authentic Salvadoran and Mexican food.

Yelp
Las pupusas are very good. I recommend the beans and cheese kind. The atmosphere is quiet, and I can have a good conversation with my family. Plenty parking available.

Sara Z.

Yelp
I had heard about this place as a top Salvadoran restaurant incredibly area but I'm disappointed. I was really craving pupusas so I ordered a variety of different ones - cheese, beans, pork, and cheese-bean-pork-loroco. The filings and sauces are good but the pupusas were burnt and tough to cut through. Not ideal. The platanos were also disappointing. They had almost no flavor and were slightly burnt. I don't think I'd order from them again but I'll eat the leftover pupusas.

Carla P.

Yelp
Comida Salvadoreña pero ademas otra variedad. Encanto a las bebidas deliciosas y tragos. Servicio personalizado y rápido con un ambiente familiar, pero también puedes estar en el bar disfrutando con amigos.

Oscar M.

Yelp
Ordered pupusas and the sauce they gave me was salsa for dipping chips in, not the traditional homemade tomato sauce. Beans had no flavor and pupusas need more meat instead of 95% cheese filling. I will not be ordering from here again.

Miss W.

Yelp
I orders 50 minutes ago; got to the restaurant and was asked to wait 10 more minutes. 5 people were sitting in the restaurant so I don't understand the delay for mediocre food quantity. I will never return. I wasted $42 for poor quality and unreasonable wait, 1st and last time here. I should've taken the 2.5 ratings as a warning. Shame on me for trying this place myself. Pro: lots of parking. Food ordered: Jellof rice & Egusi pudding.

Luis A.

Yelp
Los Chorros is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The food is always delicious and service is great. My favorite dish is The lobster with crab or Langosta rellena. I like this dish with a side sala and rice. I strongly recommend trying it next time you are dining at this restaurant.

Eric B.

Yelp
Love the pupusas from here. Service is great but wait times on food can be long if they are busy. Great family restaurant. Only thing I can say is the tomato sauce was okay. Overall, Great place I've been coming here for years.

Dan P.

Yelp
Was told one thing, then was told another. Dishonest and terrible customer service. Would avoid this place like omicron.

Meghan Q.

Yelp
Long story short--the food was great (5 star), they lose points for the amount of time that we waited (service 3 star at best). 4 stars overall is a little generous Ordered catering (fajitas) for a group of 12-15--it was a little challenging to get ahold of the person in charge of catering, and there was no catering menu which made it a little challenging to price out. I asked for a 6:15pm pick up, and arrived a few minutes late. The food wasn't brought out until after 6:45. Yes, it was a larger order, but it had also been placed the previous week. I wasn't the only one waiting around for their food either. And it seemed like there hadn't been much conversation between the catering staff and the front of house staff when it came to how much I was paying. Ultimately, got my food, brought it home, and it was a major it. No complaints, everyone loved it. Slight downside--the fajita meats and veggies were all mixed together, so the vegetarians in the group had to kind of fish out their veggies, and people who only wanted one type of meat had to pick around as well--but the flavor was totally there. At the end of the night, we had a little rice and some beans left, but all the meat and veggies were destroyed. I've never dined in, so I can't say what the service is like in person, during non-COVID times. I'm not sure if I would order take out again given how long I waited, but the food was a hit and I'd be willing to give the dining in experience a try whenever that's allowed again.

Yelp
Ordered online these nachos. Added extra toppings. It all came out to be $18 for extra toppings They didn't give me any of the toppings. I asked for it but then they tried to charge me even more for the toppings. They tried to tell me I didn't actually pay that price even though I had the receipt. I was rudely met with, "I know the prices here". The best they said they could do was give me more chips. Do these nachos look like they're worth $18 to you?? OH and the nachos are cold. Awful food and experience.

Demond S.

Yelp
***3.75*** I ordered food to go through Yelp. Food arrived early. Order was correct. The Sopa de res was a little under seasoned and lacking veggies. The pupusa were pretty good. I liked the pork over chicken and cheese. Enchiladas were filling, but decent. I may order from there again. I will have to try different items next time.

Yelp
I've been eating here since around 2015 because I love the food. It's been a local favorite of mine and even after I moved a little further away, and then COVID-19, I kept buying with Uber Eats for delivery. Recently I've been paying more attention to Uber Eats as it seems they have been grossly overcharging for meals when ordered through their app - I'm talking $2-$10 per meal at some locations (compared to the restaurant price; this is in addition to their service and delivery fees). So when we decided to get take-out this time we just called the restaurant directly and utilized their online menu. In calling them directly, THEY OVERcharged our three plate meal by $8, just because we called and didn't order in person. When we asked why we were overcharged they blamed Uber Eats. When we told him it wasn't purchased through Uber Eats, that we called them directly and referenced their own menu, he said that's just what they charge now for take-out orders placed over the phone. Not once did they give us a disclaimer about this charge. It isn't listed online. And there's no reference to it in their online menu. They refused to give us our food for menu price despite the fact that we picked it up directly. To add insult to injury, they overcharged even more than Uber Eats. We will be reporting this to the BBB. I don't recommend this place any longer due to their shady business practices. It's a shame since I've been a loyal customer there for so long, and I'll miss the food. But I won't support a business who participates in misleading advertisements and dishonest business practices. Shame on you.

Tanika W.

Yelp
I love this place we were me mediately greeted and seated the food was fresh and delicious definitely coming again five stars

Gabriella N.

Yelp
My family has been going here for years! The people are so kind and the margaritas are to die for. Tonight we had various pupusas, enchiladas verdes, salmon la Union. They're pretty busy during quarantine so please be patient!

Karolyn R.

Yelp
Super disappointed at our latest trip here. Service was terrible- they added the tip automatically for two of us- never heard of that before. And the waitress sort of confronted me on everything I ordered. Margaritas were lacking on alcohol and the fajitas weren't on a sizzling platter. Plus our entrees came out five minutes apart. I used to love this place- what the heck happened? The auto tip is enough to say I'm probably not going back. The waitress didn't tell us it was on there so if I hadn't looked, we would have double tipped- likely what she wanted.

Lois F.

Yelp
Ordered thru Grubhub. Soup de Res was DELISH, Xango was not worth the price. House Combo for 2 you will get SO MUCH FOOD worth every penny would most definitely re-order. Calamari the breading was to thick it had a Loud fishy smell peeled off all the breading and ate it naked. I would go with the Soup and the combo their Guac was Good too.

Arista W.

Yelp
Random spot I came across leaving Wheaton Mall. If you blink too fast you'll miss it thought. lol. The food was super fresh and they gave plenty of it! We ate good, customer service was good, and the prices weren't bad. Pretty authentic food.

Diana L.

Yelp
Came here after coming here as a kid with my parents. Was excited over their lunch menu. Ordered the chicken quesadillas and the chicken chimichanga. 1- the prices on their website are not accurate. When I arrived i was charged $10 more than what the the online menu. 2- the food was bland and tasted old. The chicken quesadilla tasted like TACO BELLs value menu quesadillas. For $10.99???!!! The chimichanga was NOT fried, so it was a burrito. The tortilla tasted so old. The food did not taste fresh and tasted like fast food. NEVER AGAIN! $40 for my meal. Couldn't got a $5 box at Taco Bell (I don't even eat fast food). Save your money and your taste buds.

Cj L.

Yelp
Decent food if you're in the mood for Tex-Mex style and great flavors. Fajitas burritos tacos I think they even have Salvadori and food I would recommend it

Bobby H.

Yelp
Had the crab and shrimp quesadilla from there as takeout and it was DELICIOUS. Seafood flavor was there and loved that it came with quac and sour cream to pair with quesadilla. If I had one change it would be to make the tortilla a bit more crunchy, a tad too soft for me.

Angie A.

Yelp
I ordered a huge order yesterday and to be honest I hate giving my Latino restaurants a bad review but this a little of both. The pupusas were great and that's why I'm giving 3 stars. I had the Salmon with shrimp and scallops. Let me start saying the shrimp tasted fresh and good but oh boy was the salmon super salty and the scallops tasted super old, I had one bite and had to stop (yuck), it came with some garlic sauce and it was just to much. The plate was called Salmon la Union. Could not finish it because everything was so salty and the broccoli was old looking. The only thing I ate were the 3 shrimps. My husband got the veggie fajitas and he said he enjoyed, I'm glad he did. Everyone enjoyed the pupusas but the cortido as well was salty. All that money spent and half our food was thrown away.

Taylor S.

Yelp
I can see why no one else was in the restaurant. The food was mediocre and the waitress/bartender was HORRIBLE. Literally stared at us the whole time we were there (including when we were eating). The pomegranate margarita was pretty good but that was THE ONLY PLEASANT part of going there. Much better Latino/Spanish restaurants in the area

Willmer R.

Yelp
I took my wife here for dinner the other day (check out her review below Giuliana V) we really enjoyed the pupusas and the traditional salvadores desserts that are made really well here. They make it just like back home and the honey is the star of the show. You have to dip the nuegado in the juice water they give you and pour the honey over it. The price is fair for what you get. 4 stars only because the service was a little slow but I get it we are in a pandemic and I'm happy to see they're still Open.

Robin L.

Yelp
I like this food a lot. I have only ever had it delivery. It's delicious though. Chicken quesadilla is a winner and the little cheesecake banana bites things are a delight. Good guacamole too. Will be having again.

Gary Y.

Yelp
This place is hit or miss. The few times I have ordered food delivery from them, there has been a missing item. My recent order was for rib fajitas and chips. I did not get the chips or salsa and I had to get a refund from Grubhub. Poor management? The ribs tasted mealy as if they were prepared a couple of days ago. They and the onions and peppers had no discernible taste other then grease. I am finished with this place.

Christen M.

Yelp
Amazing pupusas. We had our wedding food catered by los churros, absolutely would recommend. The yuca is also amazing

LaTonya S.

Yelp
This restaurant is my go-to for Salvadorian/Mexican meals when I want good food and don't want to drive. To be clear, the meals get five-stars. No matter what I have eaten, the flavors and portion sizes have always been great. The price gets three stars. Although the food is amazing, there are several Salvadorian restaurants in the community where you can get a good amount of food for 50-75% of the price. For instance, the burritos here are $13+, while a little less than a mile away is a Salvadorian restaurant where burritos are $9. Tacos are $14+ for three while tacos at the aforementioned restaurant are $3 each, a la carte. On the same city block, another restaurant opened with prices similar to the latter. Although closed now because of COVID, it still stands that the restaurant is pricier than similar ones in the area. However, the happy hour menu is outstanding. I usually get the margaritas (because, why not?), the nachos, and quesadillas. They are usually out of some things I want when I get there, so I tend to order the same things. I can get a nice bang for my buck. The service for to-go orders is outstanding. Occasionally, something has been left out but it was soon rectified. Dine-in service can be hassle because of language barriers. I have had the wrong order brought to me a few times because of miscommunication. That was promptly fixed. Also, sometimes you don't see your server for a while.

Steven A.

Yelp
I'll be 100% honest here, I only gave this five stars because that was the maximum I was allowed to. If I could give it seven or eight I would. Now I don't know what people come to Los Chorros for, and I've heard the food is pretty good (carne asada, burritos, chimichangas, nachos etc..), but hands-down they are the king, and by a very long mile, when it comes to Pupusas. They are hands down the best I've ever had. I've visited El Salvador 4 times and having tried Pupusas in most of the major departments, (San Salvador, San Miguel, Usulutan and others..) I can say that Los Chorros made me want to come back for theirs every single time. Fat, juicy, succulent, oozing with Chicarron and Queso.. it simply cannot be stopped. And if you dare, their super Pupusas is a monumental amalgamation of goodness surrounded by masa. Add a side of their pickled Curtido and Salsa and washed down with their amazing Horchata.. You will never leave unsatisfied Again, I'm sure the food here is pretty good as well, but I cannot sit down in this place and order anything else outside the Pupusas because of how amazing they are. Do yourself a favor and get 1.. or 4. Update: this place was recently voted the best place to get a Pupusa in the Washington DC metropolitan area in DC Eats Magazine. Though I haven't had the luxury to try the pupas in Long Island, Houston, or Los Angeles, I'm willing to bet this place would stack up against each and every one of those cities, if not come out on top.

Cyndy R.

Yelp
This restaurant has no care for making things right with the customer. I had ordered food only to find out that the food I had ordered was incorrect. I didn't find out until I got home. When I called the restaurant back they did not care at all to make it right. Customer service here sucks!! Be more respectful to your loyal paying customers.

Prity K.

Yelp
This is the first time I had food delivered from here. The food was fresh, tasty and packaged very well. Good size portions. Reasonably priced. Will definitely order again.

Chris A.

Yelp
Use to really be good, gone down somewhat and increased in prices. Hope it gets back to the way it use to be..

Kimberly M.

Yelp
I ordered the stuffed lobster on Uber Eats. The dish was very flavorful. However, the lobster showed up with shrimp, peppers and onions fajita style, not crab and shrimp filling as advertised. Also, the dish would travel better in a ventilated to-go box so that the lobster doesn't continue to cook en route to its destination. Overall, good dish.

Tricia V.

Yelp
I ordered the lunch special, the Enchilada and Pupusa! As an appetizer I ordered the Guacamole with chips. For a drink the Tamarindo! Let me tell you, it was delicious. I'm glad I ordered from this business. Worth every cent! Thank you for making authentic Mexican and Salvi food. I definitely miss home cooked meals.

Flowercita L.

Yelp
Horrible food! I invited my daughter (College age) at that age they normally eat everything without complaining; well she told me never to come back. This restaurant its catered not Salvadorean or Mexican, the food was really disgusting. We did not eat at all. Horrible experience. I understand they host lots of non profits events with chips and salsa and they Pupusas and maybe the attendees simply don't say nothing about the food, its a non profit event and not a client paid meal. In conclusion, this place in my opinion needs to improve. Before you go Woke and go Broke.

Geovanni O.

Yelp
So we have been going to this restaurant for years ( about 10 years or more) but over the last couple of years the service hasn't been that great but non the less we still continued to go to the restaurant but today I placed a pick order and when I got home and was about to sit down and eat with my family we were missing the tortillas that we ordered, the avocados that they put in our salads were so old they were black, and I ordered chicken enchiladas and they gave me beef enchiladas and the family member that ordered the enchiladas CANNOT eat beef. Needless to say this was the last straw and we will no longer give this restaurant anymore of our money.

Linda J.

Yelp
Best chicken enchiladas I've had in years! Great sauces and sides to go with them as well. I am also a HUGE fan of their corn tamales - sweet and juicy and full of flavor. Add a touch of sour cream and you're in heaven. Hubby loves the two burrito dinner.

Jessica R.

Yelp
SO GOOD! Every single thing we ordered was amazing. Got 3 types of pupusas, enchiladas, chicharones, and one of the steak dishes with sweet plantains. Can't wait to dine here again!

T.F M.

Yelp
Arrived at the time my order was suppose to be ready. Ended up waiting an extra 35 mins for my food!! Very disappointed with the service I received

Dorothy R.

Yelp
I have gotten delivery from this restaurant for months and have recommended Los Chorros to friends several times. I especially love the fish and shrimp soup. This week, however, was a total disappointment. The type of fish used this time was awful, very fishy and textured in a way that made me think they had gotten it out of the trash from food that patrons had not eaten the day before. The flavor of the broth was overwhelmed by the strong, cheap fish and it seemed as though they forgot the ahi panco that I can normally taste. Previously it had been wonderfully spiced with a soft, buttery white fish and several tender shrimp. I don't usually write reviews, but spending $17.99 for a soup is a huge financial splurge for me. I look forward to this normally wonderful dish and this experience was very disappointing. I can get a similar soup for much, much less at other restaurants. While not as special as the former version of this soup at Los Chorros, I will have a nice meal that does not empty my monthly food budget.

Asacia R.

Yelp
Great food; good quality and fresh. Service is very hit or miss, so just get it to go if you're not drinking. Frozen Strawberry margaritas are very good; flavorful and not watered down. So I went again and got take-out and there was a piece of plastic in my burrito. I called to tell them and they said sorry and hung up.

Elvin H.

Yelp
Our dining experience was exceptional, from the friendly greeting at the door, all the way through dinner and the "thanks" as you leave. The papuses are delicious! You should try all three and take home any leftovers. These are so much better than most others I've tasted. We also sampled each of the tamales. These are authentic Central American style, wrapped in banana leaves. They are larger than others I've had, but are warmed up easily when you take home the leftovers. I always trust our host or hostess when trying out a new restaurant. So glad I did! The carne asada was delicious and tender; perfectly seasoned, too! They have a full bar, and are still family friendly. In fact, there were many families dining there. Parking is a breeze, there is a lot next door. If you are looking for great salvadoran food - or good food of any kind - this is definitely worth the drive to Wheaton.

Kimberly Y.

Yelp
Los Chorros Restaurant is a beautiful place to go with friends and family. The food is delicious, and the waitress was awesome . Trust me you will not be disappointed !

El Chapulin C.

Yelp
Great choice for a family Father's Day dinner haven't been to this restaurant in years they still have GREAT tasting food will NOT disappoint... overall A+

Michael R.

Yelp
Decent pupusas not what they once were the overall menu needs to be revamped as well as the location. What this place could do with a facelift and few twist to the menu
