11 Nashville Latin American Restaurants Worth Visiting | Eater Nashville

"The restaurant’s namesake steals the spotlight at this Guatemalan haunt, but there’s plenty on the menu to choose from. Carnivores get the royal treatment here in the form of the parrillada chapina, a dish brimming with roast meat, chicken, ribs, pork chops, shrimp, tilapia, chorizo, a baked potato, and rice and beans. Apart from that, a spicy camarones a la diabla, and fried chicken come served with a side of Russian salad." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Nayelis was very very nice she did a great job helping us out, we got a bunch of food I would recommend everything I had. I will definitely be coming back again

Google
This place is good but they played music to loud. And the we waited to long for our food. But the food was good. I think they need to work on help in the kitchen. Because every time customers order they have to wait for a long time for their food. I like fresh. Thank you for your good food and fresh food but work on getting help.

Google
I recently went to Guatemala and had been wanting some good Chapíne food. This place it authentic and has some hard to find menu items like pepian, chuchitos, atole, kakik and shucos! The best!

Google
The restaurant is located in a good place. The food they sell is good. However, the food was expensive. The thing I didn't like about here was that when you walk in, it smells not very clean. However, the waitress was very nice. Overall, it was ok.

Google
Had the carne adobada and horchata, It was really, really good. Everything was seasoned and cooked very well. Had some chuchitos to go, and they were also delicious. I will definitely be back whenever im back in the area.

I'LL NEVER VISIT AGAIN, BUT IF I DO, I WON'T COMPLAIN. - very meh The place was only barely furnished, consisting of only widely spaced tables and a checked counter. The food was solid B+ and the waitress knew a decent amount to help with dietary restrictions. That being said, there are no obvious vegan options, but red-blooded omnivores should have no problem here. The food came out quickly for the time of day, and nothing was bad.

The server did such an amazing job she was super sweet and the food was awesome i will definitely keep coming here.

Yelp
Good food, reasonable prices and friendly service Only drawback not much English at all, but had fun working it out with server who had a great sense of humor. Didn't get exactly what we thought that we ordered but it was close enough and tasty. We plan to make it a regular stop.

Yelp
I live nearby and searched yelp for every Mexican place near me. This place had the best reviews so I wanted to try it. Did not want to be wasting my money on crappy Mexican. Glad I checked Yelp first because they were correct. I am so happy there's a great Mexican place near me. I would say its Mexican and a flavor of Honduras, and Guatemala. Staff are friendly and accommodating. I ordered the Carne Asada. I asked about the "Macaroni and mayonnaise" which seemed odd to me, but ordered nonetheless. The food came out and I was well pleased. The tortilla was home made and delicious. The carne asada was grilled to perfection. The green sauce was the right level of spice I love. The guacamole was delicious. I didn't much care for the macaroni and mayonnaise which was essentially just macaroni salad. But everything else was delicious. I ordered an horchata to go and the thing was massive. Totally recommend. EDIT: ok after reading all the reviews, this is solely a Guatemalan restaurant. Well fine by me, it is GOOD :)

Yelp
The food was not what I expected, not close to what Guatemala cuisine is, food very expensive so poor for what I pay, but the waitress was very nice. The owner no educación and no idea about Guatemalan food . Cero estrellas, pesimo lugar.

Devon M.

Yelp
Just left there no more than 20 minutes ago staff speak English but to a certain extent which I would think would mean authentic however they will give you bullshit dishes

Yelp
COVID related: they have plenty of space to observe the mandated social distance & they required masks as well. Table seemed like it been wiped and cleaned. Taste & size: we ordered garnachas, they were a bit bigger than I'm used to but taste was in point. The tamal could have been better. The churrasco plate was really good enough food for one person. Service: amazing! Very attentive! Price: eehhh I thought it was pricey but overall the food was good.

Yelp
Been here plenty of times and their food is always amazing. When coming here I feel like I am back in Guatemala, this food is very authentic. Everything on their menu is worth trying, so come back for more! The service is good, but your food will take a minute to come out because it is cooked fresh. Expect to wait for a little, bring a friend and enjoy the amazing food and juices this restaurant has to offer! They now sell beer for any beer drinkers!

Yelp
By far one of the BEST Guatemalan restaurants I've ever been to! Supper delish. The flavor is very authentic, and the presentation of their food takes it to the next level. The restaurant was super clean, and cute Guatemalan decoration. There was a marimba instrumental which give the place the full feel of a Chapin ambiance!! Our waiter was nice and attentive to our needs. This restaurant deserves all 5 stars and more!

Yelp

Yelp
Great to have other nacionality latin restaurants, if you want to try some other latin food I do really reccomend Los Churrascos.Nice ambience, great and fast service, awesome meats Guatemalan style

Beder Marco M.

Yelp
This place is awesome, food is delicious and GUATEMALAN authentic, please people if you are looking for "Mexican food" this is not the place. The chiltepe sauce is amazing, is a Guatemalan pepper that is definitely really spicy and delicious not to mention the tortillas yes they are hand made and thick which is the Guatemalan way. This is a good representation of mi Tierra de la eterna primavera Guatelinda. As a Guatemalan We love it and will definitely come back.

Yelp
Great food, I had the quesadillas which were well seasoned. But I wish that they had a bit more meat in them seemed like a lot of it was mainly cheese. But overall really good.

Yelp
Wife and I were craving Latin inspired cuisine and we ended up here only by default as our original pick was closed due to a funeral. We ordered a parrillada chapina and it fed us both; however, the food lacked flavor and our server NEVER checked on us the entire time. Another server attended us once we were almost done with our food. Our original server checked on us once we were completely done and we asked for the check. We were excited to try out this place and we were hoping for authentic Guatemalan food, but we were disappointed.

Yelp
Guatemalan food is finally getting some representation here in Nashville and I couldn't be more excited. I've been to this locations several times with a party of 10+ and the service has always been great. The food does take a while to come out but that's never been a huge issue. On Sundays they have marimba players so that is always a plus!

Crystal L.

Yelp
First time trying it and we will be back when we are back in Nashville! The corn tortillas are so delicious and so authentic. I've never had such delicious corn tortillas.

Boris Z.

Yelp
Great food. Good service. I'd recommend any day over the other Latin American restaurants in the area.

Yelp
As a Guatemalan I'm kinda disappointed in this authentic plate. I'm going to describe each item on my plate. Guac- not good. Had an old taste. Or maybe when you add lime and squeeze to hard the fume of it idk but tasted bad.. Steak- flavor wise could of use a bit more salt. And too fatty it was soft meat tho which was good. Macaroni- was eh not what I'm use to eating. Now the beans and plantains were amazing as well as the authentic sour cream & cheese. The chirmol (salsa) honestly didn't even try I already knew it sucked just by how watery it looked... it's not supposed to look like that at all! To drink I had the horchata and let me tell you that horchata doesn't get faker than Kim K's ass! That's NOT Guatemalan horchata highly disappointed! I gave it 3 stars bc the girl there only waitress was nice and attentive. With that being sad coming from a Guatemalan native ugh I'm bummed this plate wasn't better. I'll come back to post a picture of how the salsa supposed to look like.

Yelp
Great place. Awesome tasting authentic food! Love the fish tacos. Just flew in looking for something different and I am pleasantly surprised.

Amani M.

Yelp
The steak was delicious. I ordered the churrasco plate. My friend ordered a burrito suprema, but only because the server told us that the chimichanga is not fried. I don't know if she knew the menu that well. When we came in there were not many people. She told us to sit anywhere we wanted, then she started sweeping. It took a moment before she addressed us. I could tell that she did not wash her hands. She was also running back and forth in and out of the restaurant. She was very sweet, but could use a little but of server training. Also, the menu could use a spell-check, and a bit of sprucing up. They called the salsa "tomato sauce". I was also not a huge fan of the mayonnaise served as a side item. Those things are the only reason that it did not get 5 stars.

Michael S.

Yelp
Hoped to get some meatless lunch. Very disappointed in several respects. First the menu is very limited. To make matters worse the waitress could not explain what the menu items we're or what the items had in them. She said the chili relleno comes on bread. Of course it does. It's supposed to be breaded. What she meant was a sandwich. I ordered the chili relleno because they are meatless. HUGE disappointment here. The relenno not only had meat, it also lacked a full pepper and only had a smidgen of a pepper in it, and guess what. NO CHEESE. These folks obviously do not do Mexican very well. Perhaps they are not even Mexican. Next time I'll take my chances with Amy's Ethiopian restaurant next door. At least if I get something exotic I won't expect a traditional Mexican dish. Wait wait. Maybe I have a better chance of getting authentic Mexican at Amy's in the first place.
