Yelp
A hidden gem off the beaten path near Mexican town. We found Los Corrales. Just a few blocks from Vernor Highway, on the corner of Junction and Toledo streets, you will find this place. There are two dining areas, one near the kitchen and a separate, slightly more formal section of booths.
Every meal starts with a complimentary bowl of tortilla chips alongside a plate of condiments including sliced radish, lime wedges, a chunky, fresh tomato salsa, a green, tomatillo-based salsa with a bit of heat and our favorite and spiciest of the three, the roasted tomato salsa.
When we pulled up in the parking lot, they had a huge grill and cooking on it. It smelled wonderful. My friend had the Menudo (tripe Soup) . He said it was good but lacking a lot of tripe in it. He did love the taco's. The meat had a wonderful flavor and very tender.
I had the fajitas. I had a mix of steak, chicken and shrimp. It definitely tasted like it just came off the grill. The seasoning was perfect and the meal was big enough to bring home for lunch the next day.
The wait staff was friendly and excellent service. The Con's, when you order pop, it comes out of a can, so you would need to pay for a refill. The back door of the place was left open and we had a few flies hanging with us during our meal. LOL
Over all the food tasted homemade and fresh. The prices are the same as Mexican town restaurants. About $8 to $10 a meal. I will definitely be back.
