Google
Paid nearly $7 for a tiny portion of guacamole that tasted old and bland. The burrito was also underwhelming and not filling. On top of that, I was charged extra for simple add-ons. Overall, disappointing experience. I highly recommend not eating here! Guacamole that was overpriced and not fresh.

Google
I’ve been coming for many many years this is the very best place for chicken soup. This is the very first time that I have ever ordered takeout. Pollo Ranchero and Chicken soup to go and a draft beer while I wait. $50 with 20% tip. No Chips & Salsa on takeout. It would’ve cost the same amount of money to sit in the restaurant and I would’ve received two baskets of chips and salsa. I think I’m over it.

My first time at Los Loros. I met for business lunch and was absolutely thrilled with the extensive lunch menu. I had a #4 taco and enchilada with rice and beans. I did shredded chicken and the enchilada was as good as I have ever had. The taco was good, but par for the course. The atmosphere and service were great and I would definitely go back.

Google
Great spot for lunch, the special are very affordable and the quality can't be beat! The cheese sauce is very rich and everything always comes out steaming hot and fresh.

Google
I've been coming here since I moved to Jax 20 years ago. Reliably excellent food. Great margaritas. Genuinely warm and friendly staff. Every time I come, I get a new favorite menu item! The fajitas, the burritos, the sopa, the chile rellenos, it's all so good, and no small portions, either! I love it here!

Andi S.

Google
About a 7.5 out of 10 in my book. Good portion size needed a tad more spices. But pretty good!

Andre P.

Google
Overall the food was tasty, but it wasn't "knock your socks off" amazing. The service was good, all the staff were nice and polite. The atmosphere was comfortable and family friendly. There's absolutely nothing negative about the food, service, or atmosphere; it just didn't have that WOW factor.

This evening my family and I celebrated my aunts birthday at her favorite Mexican restaurant in Mandarin! This family owned restaurant is a sweet gem and at a great location in proximity to our home. We all enjoyed the clean and comfortable seating. While enjoying our beverages as we waited for our food the staff was friendly and polite. Our server named Elisa was super kind and professional. Food was delicious and fresh. I’m looking forward to returning again in the new year and continue celebrating with friends and family while enjoying great food at Los Loros!

Yelp
I visit this restaurant a few times and it's always been pretty good. I usually get there tortilla soup or a chicken enchiladas. This time I got chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. I love the flavors of the food the refried beans are great right. I love the Mexican flavors taste like authentic Mexican food. The service was well. Every time I go it's not really too busy so the wait is not long. The restaurant is kinda like a down home nice relax scenery nice Mexican decorations. They do have a bar but it's pretty calm at this restaurant

Yelp
When you search best margarita near me, you're going to have high expectations. Unfortunately, the Margarita was alright. $17 for a large with flavor and it was watery and not frozen. The food was not good. For a Mexican place, there was absolutely no flavor. Besides the salsa which is very very spicy almost unenjoyable. Service was okay. Waitress was nice don't know her name. We probably won't be going here again.

Yelp
The food was served hot and delicious. The service was speedy and recommendations on point. The decor was a relaxed Mexican vibe.

Yelp
Always amazing Mexican food! We get the jumbo margarita (which is tasty and strong!) the tacos and cheese quesadillas with shredded chicken are always amazing. Service is friendly!

Yelp
After 13 years, I will NEVER go back. And I am telling me story to everyone I see. All my church groups, my crochet groups, my card group, my neighbors and anyone standing behind me in a checkout line. Four friends met for lunch, 3 separate bills. We ordered and by the time the food came our half basket of chips was empty and we asked for more. And salsa. $3.75 for extra chips and $3.75 for extra salsa shows up on one of the bills. WHAT!?!? The man in charge explained it is written on the menu and could not have cared less. No thank you.

Yelp
Can we all agree that Mexican Food is the antibiotic to life's ills. And like CVS or Walgreen's you're likely to find a Mexican joint on just about every neighborhood corner. So when one disappoints you don't have to travel far to find redemption. My usual spot was suffering from major identity crisis so I decided to try Los Loros on Baymeadows just west of Philips Highway. It shares a parking lot with Al-Basha, a Middle Eastern market I shop at regularly. My first several visits were Taco Tuesday stops where I'd usually do 3 a la carte Tacos($9.50) and 3 a la carte Enchiladas ($9.50). You can select Hard or Soft shell tacos and either Chicken or Beef on both. On Tuesday the tacos are only $8. There is ample seating snd beautiful Latin murals painted on the walls. It may be 10 years before I feel the need to go anywhere else for these two simple favorites. Huge portions, great flavor, quality ingredients and a great price. My server Nina always takes great care of me and takes the time each visit to stop and chat me up while I enjoy the complimentary Chips and Salsa. Alex the manager also visits each table to check if guests are happy. But this review was to Scoop my most recent visit and entree the Pollo con Papas. It is Chicken breast grilled with potatoes, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and chipotle chile pepper. Served with rice and vegetables(cheesy broccoli and cauliflower). Topped with cheese dip for $18.50. This dish delivered like a kiss on the first date, whatever that's like. I've never had a Mexican dish with potatoes and never thought to but this combination of ingredients was a veritable super group of flavors like Antonio Banderas and the Song of the Mariachi . So next time you're feeling Desperado head to Baymeadows and give your Mexican experience an upgrade at Los Loros. -- at Los Loros.

Yelp
First time visiting!! Server was terrific friendly and attentive. Food was great fresh and tastes delicious big portions. Music was great and could still have conversations great atmosphere.

Yelp
I've been to this place a couple times and the service and food were so so. I was headed there tonight and decided to read some reviews before going and I'm glad I did. A change in plans now. These people need to read their reviews and fix the issues. The service has serious issues. I think most of them are family who are probably forced to work for free. I wish them luck

Yelp
Been a Jax staple for decades. Fresh, fast, yummy, good service. Authentic flavors, good bar options.... Locals know!

Yelp
Summary: a classic, reliable staple for the typical Mexican food you expect (I say this as a Floridian, let's not get into regional Mexican wars, LOL). I'm long overdue for this review. I first started visiting Los Loros in like 2014 when I lived off the southside service road and forgot about it for a while before moving about a block away in 2022. My fiancé and I probably ate here 3x a week while renovating our kitchen and have kept up with 1x a week/every other week since. As we all know there is no shortage of Mexican restaurants in this town. There is something for every niche and many places with standout specialties. That being said... Everything I've ever ordered has been good, I've never had a complaint or unsatisfactory meal. The servers are always nice, quick, and will start to remember your extra sauce orders when you go there as often as we do! First: great value. In today's climate, cost is a deciding factor in where you go out to eat. When we're hungry and in a rush, lazy mood, or don't have groceries; we always know we're going to get a huge, tasty, and reasonably priced meal at Los Loros. My go to is the Combo #3: 2 tacos, an enchilada, and a chile relleno for about $11. You can't beat it! I am very picky with chile rellenos and these are always bursting with liquid melty cheese and smothered in delicious sauce. The enchilada sauce is different, and also very tasty. As a self proclaimed sauce connoisseur I appreciate the variety and that every dish isn't topped with the same exact red sauce. Of course the enchiladas suizas or verdes will have a green sauce, which I also love. The salsa is on point every time. Honorable mention: quesadilla relleno (huge!), fajitas (obviously), and the flautas (make sure to ask for a side of chipotle sauce, it makes all the difference!) The house margaritas are STRONG! My 200+lb fiancé who is no stranger to cocktails got surprisingly tipsy the last time we ordered ONE large one The interior is a fun vibe, but be wary if you get easily overstimulated- most nights of the week there is some type of karaoke or singing going on in addition to loud music. The place is so large though that we usually get a table on the other side of the platform center and the noise is normal where we can have a conversation. Bonus- they have their own Los Loros app for online ordering and convenient pickup. They also have a rewards program where you enter your phone number at checkout and we have redeemed many a free queso, guacamole, entree, or margarita! They could also definitely accommodate a pretty large group in the aforementioned platform center area of the restaurant. When you're not looking for ~specialty~ trendy often overpriced Mexican food, Los Loros is ole reliable! Only downside is no outdoor seating if you're looking for that. (Now I need to catchup on the probably 100 food pics from here in my camera roll )

Yelp
This spot on Baymeadows is easy to miss due to its location but it is a good option for Mexican. I went with a group of 30 on a Saturday to support the restaurant after it sponsored a local youth baseball team. The restaurant is large and there is plenty of seating for groups of all sizes. It is decorated in traditional Mexican restaurant motifs with both table and booth seating. Prior to the meal, the brought out warm chips and a chilled salsa. Both were enjoyed. I ordered lunch taco salad with ground beef. I was surprised you could order from the lunch menu on a weekend but it was a nice option. The taco salad was not your typical bowl but more of a large taco shell, but it was still really good. Some of the other diners around me got lunch fajitas, a chicken and shrimp dinner with queso and quesadillas. Everything was well cooked but the ground beef was a little bland. The servers did a great job getting the food out despite the large number and we all ended up eating as a group though there was a little confusion at times as to who ordered what due to the large number of persons. I had to have my check corrected after the server charged me for a drink I did not order (at $4 a piece for a soda I had to fix that). One of the ladies I was with said her office goes there for lunch and has never had a bad meal. Definitely worth a look.

Yelp
Always my go to neighborhood restaurant for Mexican. They have an extensive menu of fresh authentic recipes. A family owned business, not a chain of processed and frozen corporate junk food. Service is always excellent. You won't regret your time here and your stomach will surely thank you.

Yelp
If you're looking for an authentic, family operated Mexican restaurant look no further than Los Loros. My friends and I stopped in for dinner post FL-GA tailgating and I am extremely happy we did. We were immediately greeted by the host who sat us in a clean booth. The menu here is like Cheesecake Factory - extensive with numerous options for everyone and also super affordable. They serve you a basket of complimentary chip and salsa, which is fresh and tasty. The salsa has a little kick but still is very good. I was in the mood for some tacos and Los Loros has a vast amount of options. I ordered the carne asada, lengua (beef tongue), and chicken. They all come with cilantro and white onions and hot sauce which I opted for on the side. The tacos were fresh and large in portion. I tried the lengua first - and whoa! So tender, very well seasoned, and heavenly. If you have never tried it - definitely do not knock it, this was my favorite of the 3 tacos. The closest thing I can say the texture is comparable to is roast beef. I was stuffed after eating just this taco alone. The second taco, the carne asada was very juicy and also very flavorful. The chicken taco was good as well but because it was chargrilled pretty long it almost more saltier in taste in comparison to the other tacos. However, with the fresh lime and hot sauce it easily balanced the chicken taco. In all, I spent a little under than $13 - which is amazing. If you're craving Mexican, make Los Loros a place to visit!

Yelp
I probably a bit biased and over-rating them a little bit but I love their cazuelada. My family and friends seem to enjoy the spot too. The ambience is somewhat bog standard for a Mexican restaurant. No issues with the wait staff and they have been friendly in my experience. The only negative thing is the parking and entry are a little rough as they share a strip center parking lot.

Rachael H.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered 3 adult meals from Los Loros. I picked up my orderly promptly for carry out and I asked if I could have a side of chips and salsa. The woman bringing me my food told me no, it's extra. I asked, well if I were dining in, it would be unlimited chips and salsa? She didn't say anything, I went on to say I ordered almost $60 worth of food, could I please have a side of chips and salsa. Again she told me no but I could order it and pay at the bar. No thank you, Los Loros, and we will not be back for such poor customer service. I know times are tough, but 3 adult meals should warrant an order of chips and salsa.

Yelp
Tried this Mexican restaurant and it was delicious! I ordered a combination meal that came with 2 beef tacos, beans and rice. Everything tasted absolutely delicious and was only $11! I will definitely be back here!

BlueJaySn 9.

Yelp
I enjoyed this place a couple times but when the place is empty it doesn't make sense to sit 2 families back to back in booths especially when the booths move and you're trying to get comfortable. For the food; it's great food, minus the burritos and enchiladas. I tried both and they both come with ground beef wrapped in a tortilla. Disappointing. I'm from the hood in CA and these wasn't it. Not to mention they won't help you find a meal combo that suits your appetite without charging 14$ extra for corn tortilla tacos with beans, rice and a burrito with something else in it. I enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but they could do a little better. Then they wouldn't have a choice to sit people wherever they could

Yelp
Well I have to say the time before last I was disappointed in the service and food quality. Not much taste, the chicken quesadilla was not very good and asked for two (2), full order. But After an extended period of time only half order came out for me and my friend (we ordered the same). We had to also walk to the counter to seek drink refill because the server never returned to the table. We did, however, point out the error in the order to which she said ok sorry and walked away. Fast forward - we returned last night figuring it was just an off night and ordered the same & the same thing happened only half order came out with oh sorry and yep had to track down someone to get drink refill. Not sure will return because no service and they do not listen to customer desires.

Yelp
Food was good I like their steak tacos! Service was okay. Ambiance was nice cool paintings and different colors I like the idea.

Yelp
Food is delicious and service is great. Family owned. Been going here for the 20+ years I have lived in Jacksonville.

Yelp
Los Loros is a hidden treasure at the Baymeadows and Old King Rd intersection. We have been here once before but never reviewed. Our first time, my wife and I me the manager. However, second time around was not the charm. Our plate was hot but the taco supreme was tasty but was cold. Our server gladly took our plates to warm our food up.

Yelp
You ever hear about a place and great things for a while but take your time getting there? That's the case with Los Loros~ I've been hearing wonderful things and people telling me this is the best Mexican food in Jax for years now. John and I used to live really close too! But we never stopped in- why? I have no idea. Friday evening I was in the area and John wanted Mexican- so we popped in. The restaurant layout is a long bar as you enter and at the end (right) opens into a large dining room with an elevated center for seating. There was a large party seated in the upper center, but still plenty of surrounding table filled on both the upper and lower deck. While we were there, a musician set up and was singing and strumming guitar by the bar. Wonderful! John was tickled by the carafe of salsa. Yes, you pour your own salsa- lol. It's the little things! And big things- the food was spectacular. A little more expensive than some of our go to places around town- but the portions more than made up for it. We will be back for sure!

Yelp
Updating with a major TIP! If you want one of the tastiest margaritas of all time, order a pitcher of the Tejana margarita here. It's dangerously smooth, and so delicious!!! Made with Jose Cuervo Gold. (This is Los Loros' mid-range margarita, above the house mix, and below the top shelf). For cost comparisons, the Tejana pitcher is $25 and the top shelf (made with 1800) is $50 per pitcher.

Yelp
We came in at 9 (they were closing at 10), and the staff were so so so polite and friendly. The music was good and the margaritas were awesome, along with the prices of everything. The food tasted great and came out fast. We really appreciated the service!

S M.

Yelp
I have been a patron of Los Loros for YEARS, and it still is my favorite Mexican place in Jacksonville. Acapoqo Especial, Tamales and Shrimp Tostato were the main entre dishes tonight with rice and refried beans. Queso, Guacamole and margaritas .. everything was fire !! Desert Flan was also excellent ! They updated the restrooms recently and that was great to see. The staff was amazing as always. Awesome is how I feel every time I eat here. Thank you Los Loros!!
google avatar

Yelp
I have rated this place Time and again it was always my go to Mexican restaurant. The last two times I have been there I have not had the same experience. Sunday in particular we went in there and the air conditioner felt like it was struggling. We asked the server about And she downplayed it as if it was nothing. All four of us that ate there were sweating, and it was a miserable experience. 16 minutes there are so many Mexican restaurants in town, I may never go there again.
google avatar

Rick P.

Yelp
It has been a long time since I've been here. I think the last time was when the name was Los toros. Got in right away and got the chips and salsa. Waitress was very nice and started us with drinks. I wanted a negra modelo and anna wanted a mojito. Didn't have the mint for the mojito so changed to a frozen margarita. Anna ordered her usual taco salad with the steak. I couldn't find what I wanted with combo dinners. 2 soft tacos and enchilada with rice and beans. We adjusted one of the combos. Came out shortly. Pretty good. Could have been a little warmer. Place is pretty good and service was great. Good place for the mexican food fix.

Kevin H.

Yelp
My server was inattentive and didn't pre-bus. But mostly I'm annoyed that they blare their radio station, adds and all. I hate adds and don't expect to be subjected to them involuntarily during my meal.
google avatar

Sandy B.

Yelp
WHY DIDNT ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT CHIMICHANGAS? OMG!.. so it was a few hours till closing. Happy Hour 2 pm-7 pm 2 for 1 margaritas!..LETS GO! ..This restaurant is oddly placed but you walk into the bar. Towards the back corner is the hostess stand and cashier. I was seated immediately there were 4 other tables seated. I received many smiles and complimentary chips with salsa. The waiter suggested the house margarita. I wanted a shrimp burrito but they offered me their seafood chimichanga it has shrimp crab & scallops. I ordered the tortilla soup in case I didn't like the chimichanga. Everything was really good but I didn't see my server after I received my food.

Cayla H.

Yelp
Lunch salad...loads of chicken under the lettuce. Chicken was flavorful. Asked for their spicy habanero salsa to drizzle on top.
google avatar

Marie C.

Yelp
Not Great. The positives were excellent service and fresh chips- good salsa. I ordered vegetarian fajitas and it was gross. Instead of fajita vegetables I got broccoli and cauliflower what? My fiancé got a chicken dish that was equally as underwhelming
google avatar

John O.

Yelp
Great food here! Big servings and good prices. I had the ground beef taco, burrito, enchilada combo. They were all good sized, tasty, and not spicy. There were some hot sauces on the table. The complimentary chips & salsa were pretty good. The salsa wasn't anything special but I am a salsa snob. I did enjoy it though. I ordered a beer and was served a gigantic 32oz Modelo Especial. We live on the far side of town so this won't be a regular visit but definitely worthy of a return.
google avatar

Rebecca P.

Yelp
Service was good, but food was unnecessarily heavy, saucy, unhealthy. Everything tasted fattening and flat. Chips were cold. Salsa not very interesting or flavorful.

Chuck P.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible Mexican cuisine! Stopped in for dinner on a recent trip to Jacksonville and was treated with excellent chicken fajitas, beef, fajita salad, and beef enchiladas Verde! Our service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. I would recommend this to anybody that likes good Mexican cuisine. The restaurant was very clean and the service was friendly and quick.

John W.

Yelp
Food, service and drinks garbage! The tequila seems to be watered down! Had 2 drinks could've caught a cold before I caught a buzz! Don't let the crowd fool you, it's not worth your time or money!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
This particular Mexican restaurant sits in a standalone building in the Shoppes of Baymeadows shopping plaza. The building is a bit worn looking and it is the type of place that you might drive by a thousand times without a second glance. In fact, I have done this very thing, but a client wanted to meet here for lunch so we decided here at noon. The service is both friendly and fast. The food is good and my client told me that the margaritas were good, though it was too early for either of us as it was noon on a busy Wednesday work day. If you find yourself craving Mexican, this would be a good place to stop. I definitely recommend here.
google avatar

Susan A.

Yelp
I always enjoy the enchiladas Suiza with shrimp and substitute flour tortillas for the corn tortillas. The tacos are okay and only 99 cents on Tuesday. The Margaritas are not strong like a lot of Mexican restaurants. So I won't bother with those anymore. I ordered flan on Tuesday night and was for the first time disappointed. It was not very good like it usually is. The churros are usually wonderful but chose the flan instead. I will be back but will definitely go back to my shrimp suizas enchiladas!

A Pissed O.

Yelp
Service I received was aggressive and disrespect on many levels!!! Wish I could get my over $100 back! A friend raved about this place so I bought lunch as a pick up order for myself and a couple friends who were visiting from out of town. When I arrived I waited for several minutes without even being acknowledged, just looked at as if I were not as important as others siting down. I turned to see my entire order on the table behind me with my name on it. As I began to collect the order, I was approached by a waitress who came into my personal space, not greeting me just aggressively saying to me, " Is that your order? Let me see it on your phone!" No hello welcome in, how may I assist you, NOTHING just aggression and being extremely close to me. She then asked me what my attitude was for because by this point I'm taken aback by the way she approached me. I told her because I waited and no one helped and now you are coming to me like this. She hen said more aggressively, "Well you aren't the only one here, confirming I didn't matter. She never apologized for my wait and them to insinuate that I'm stealing over $100 of food I already paid for was disrespectful, unprofessional and racists. All people of color don't steal and she come to me calm to make I had the right order, this would be a different review. We enjoyed the food despite this but I will never spend my money here again. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Love this place! The entire family has been going to this restaurant for 25 years now, whenever I'm back in town we all have to meet here for dinner; it's tradition now. The staff has always been great and the margaritas keep bringing us back! I recommend a pitcher of the Top Shelf Margaritas Tell them I sent you!

Yelp
Taste of food was pretty good. Tortilla soup was the best we got. Chips and salsa given at the table. We asked for hot salsa and after we ate our first one we were told it is $2.00. Mind you, the serving container is very small. We got a second one to eat with our food and when we got the bill we realized each one is $2.00. The chimichanga isn't fried. It was a tortilla that was warm, with chicken inside and a little cheese on the outside. Wouldn't waste your money on that. As I stated earlier, food taste isn't bad but the cost of extras it isn't worth it.

Yelp
What a great find for Taco Tuesday! No wait, table side service, delicious food, great specials - and all for a minimal cost and great dining experience! I got the taco salad which was like an extra big taco with chicken. Absolutely delicious, a large amount of food & a small price! I love how crispy the taco salad shell is! They put enough sauces so everything is delicious and juicy! I'll be back! Tip- they have a freezer full of frozen popsicles I may have to try next time! They look delicious

Yelp
Usually don't go for lunch but today was getting my tires fixed nearby so it made sense. Super good in fact better than dinner. Chori queso was delish and super hot!! I had the lunch special soup and it was just enough and so yummy. Also had a great skinny marg too!!! I will do lunch again!!

Yelp
I love when I can come back to a restaurant and they do a 180 with their customer service and experience. We entered the restaurant an hour before closing and our server greeted us with a smile and provided great customer service. Our margaritas (lime and peach) were great but the presence of alcohol was a bit faint. I ordered the carnitas and he got the steak chimichanga and I must say that his chimichanga was pretty good and it was fried perfectly, my carnitas had great flavor and I loved their rice and beans but the salsa is always a disappointment because it's not memorable. We were the last ones here and we didn't notice until she came over and had to close the check out, but she was really sweet about it and they never rushed us.

Yelp
My husband and I have been coming here for years. It is my all time favorite Mexican restaurant. And one of my favorite restaurants in general. The food is killer and they do seafood so well. The chips and salsa are to die for. My husband favorite part is the margaritas. And the best time to come is Friday and Saturday night for the live music. Really puts you in a good mood and fun vibes for a night out, especially with kids.

Yelp
This place was fantastic! We got there just before their 2 for 1 margaritas special ended at 7 and they were soooo delicious. We got the frozen lime and strawberry and the consistency was perfect. The chips and salsa came out before I could even sit down, and the salsa was so fresh! I got the chiles poblanos and it was so heavenly. My bf got the fajitas across the boarder and it featured steak, shrimp, chicken and veggies. We were thoroughly satisfied and full. Our waiter Alex was so great and made sure the margaritas kept coming. At 7 they also turned the music up a little bit so we danced in our seats as we sipped our margs. Great atmosphere and great food.

Yelp
Been going here regularly for a few years. I often order the 2for1 house margaritas. They have always been served one at a time and I have even gotten the second one to go so I was surprised when my server brought me both at once. When I explained to him I don't drink that fast and would prefer the second one be served later he told me he was the only server in the area and would be too busy to bring my second drink later. Somehow he was not too busy to bring my appetizer, entree, check AND a to go cup for my warm and watery second drink. He also did not seem too busy to bring drinks one at a time to the tables around me. Only difference I could see was these were tables of multiple men and I'm a single older female. I verified with the "manager on duty" that bringing both drinks out at once is their policy when busy. Was not offered a fresh drink. It's a little thing but I guess it's the hill they want to die on. Sad that one house drink that probably cost them less than a dollar to make cost them a steady customer.

Yelp
This is a nice Mexican restaurant in baymeadows area. The menu is slightly not your common Mexican restaurant. The service is nice and friendly.
