Google
Simpke, rustic setting for great Mexican (not Tex-Mex) meals. Limited seating. Since most orders seem to be "to go" or pickup, it was easy to get a table at lunch. Very limited parking. Street parking was not difficult to find. Overall it is a very good place to enjoy a no frills, Mexican meal.

Recently stopped by Los Machetes Authentic Mexican Restaurant, and let me tell you the birria tacos with consommé were chef’s kiss. Deep, rich, authentic flavor that hits like home cooking straight from the heart of Mexico. You can tell the kitchen knows what they’re doing there. Now, the shrimp tostadas? Not bad, but definitely room for improvement. The flavor was fresh, but I missed those traditional touches… no lettuce, sour cream, or cotija, just chopped onion, tomato, cilantro, and a sprinkle of Tajín. It looked the part but lacked that layered bite. Parking’s a bit of a challenge, but once you step inside, it’s cozy and authentically modest nothing flashy, just honest food. Overall, a solid experience with standout tacos that deserve their own spotlight.

Google
The food was ok but whats not ok is closing earlier than posted. The night staff stops answering the phones, to avoid orders and clean up so they can go home I have been asked to take my food to go because they are closing early. Last night no answer at 7, I drive there to order and they are there in back cleaning with front lights off. Closed early again and again. Good help hard to find. Owners should work closing so staff stays til close ir change hrs

Google
Atexcac Mexican restaurant is a new location added to the original location in Newark DE. This review is only about my local Prospect Park location. The food is excellent and fresh. Tacos are delicious and traditionally made. Nachos ranchero was great too. The hot salsa is actually hot (spicy). No soda on tap so no free refills. The portion sizes are gargantuan! The prices are reasonable given the serving sizes. Parking is limited and if you park on the side off of Chester pike you can't get back on Chester pike because the road is one way. All said and done I will be eating there again and often and it would be 5 stars if the parking was more convenient. They plan on adding delivery as well.

Google
Great inexpensive Mexican food. We have ordered takeout three times since Covid 19, we had never heard of this little gem before March. Everything is fresh and tasty, and the nachos and tacos stay intact even with a 15 minute drive home. Very good affordable option if you are looking for authentic Mexican eats.

Quiet place, good price, excellent food

Google
This place is awesome Update: 5 years later ! Very different from when they first opened. Food given does not reflect what’s in pictures on menu, and when you comment on it they just smile and pretend they don’t know what you’re saying. If you ask for extra cheese they will charge you, but not put it on at all. If you request a different type of cheese they carry they will not fulfill your request. They used to bang and now you can’t even get them to give you the a hot sauce cup. Go to El Limon it’s a lot better. Sorry not sorry

Google
The Pike needed a mexican restaurant and now it has one. I have dined well over a dozen times and the food and service has been consistently good. The whole staff is kind, helpful, friendly and always smiling. We especially appreciate the service and efforts of Victor a very nice young man who hustle to make sure our meal is always perfect Parking can be tight and when you turn from Chester Pike onto Prospect Ave to park be aware that it is one way, other than that you will enjoy!

Yelp
This place had amazing food. The workers were very friendly and provided amazing service. Sat in and ate and it was a very nice setting.

Yelp
Authentic is right. So delicious. Amazing sauces. Friendly service. From birria to fish tacos and kids' quesadillas, everyone was satisfied and sated!

Yelp
Came to eat here with my girlfriend on New Year. the food was 10/10 Didn't get the Cashier /waitress name but she was wonderful as well... we ordered the burrito which was full of flavor and enough to save for later. Also Some tamales with the chips and salsa. Definitely will be back again. Shoutout to the chef !

Yelp
Very expensive. We ordered pick up: a chicken quesadilla, steak nachos, and a vegetarian dish. The steak nachos came wrong but we didn't bring anything up again because they left out a part of our order when we came to pick up. The food is alright, nothing to complain about. Not spicy, but some flavor. Probably won't come back due to the prices and the difficulties we had with the order.

Yelp
Barria taco I ordered it to go Place was clean and over all nice ambiance. Will be back next time for a sit down experience.

Yelp
I came here for a quick lunch and it was sooo good. The nachos were wonderful w homemade chips, a delish bean sauce, some cheese and hot salsas. Loved this!!! I ordered cheese enchiladas that came w a choice of sauce - and I went w the red sauce. Also came w beans, rice, and a little salad w guac on top. The meal was great and we were the only non spanish speakers in there so you know this place is legit. The cooler was stalked w Jaritos of all flavors too. Def will be back.

Yelp
Another good meal with the family. Place isn't fancy, but has some really good Mexican food and great service. Quality Mexican food in the Ridley area!

Yelp
A plain but delightful little Mexican place in Glenolden. Dining room is pleasantly decorated and bright. Food was delicious -- I got a semita (sesame seed bun) sandwich so huge I couldn't finish it, and took half home. The guy at the table next to me asked what I got because he was starving and wanted something huge! My kid got nachos with cheese, which as you can see in pic also included a ton of avocado and veggies. The restaurant fried the tortillas for nachos after we ordered, so they were fresh and hot and crisp! Service was polite and fast. Will definitely return again.

Yelp
Was craving some tacos in Delco so tried out this quaint little spot. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The tacos were good but could've used a bit more seasoning. The homemade salsa verde was good, but the red salsa (not pictured) tasted like it was from the jar. Other than that I enjoyed and will return despite it being a little pricey.

Yelp
Our meal was delicious, from the chips and salsa to start to the tamales we had as a appetizer, to the tacos to the huaraches.

Yelp
This is an adorable, comfortable restaurant with delicious authentic Mexican food. There were four of us. We shared nachos which were some of the best I ever had. I had the street tacos (4 in the dish) - shrimp and al pastor which had chopped pineapple in it. The fajitas were good for sharing, but also was good for a single dinner. They are is not a bar so we brought our own margaritas. We were given margarita glasses with ice and lime. Service was great! We will definitely be back. It took us about 15 minutes from the south end of Ocean City to get here. My sister and brother-in-law came from Ventnor and it took them about 30 minutes.

Yelp
I fall in love with this restaurant more & more each time I'm here. I want to say the restaurant has new owners. That is just my thought, I could be wrong. The menu slightly changed & the taste in food is beyond good. It is YUMMILICIOUS!! Today my husband & I stopped here around 330PM, was not crowded but soon got busy after we ordered. We ordered Nachos Rancheros & Chicken Chimichanga. Nachos Rancheros - it was a very generous plate of nachos. I don't think I could have finished it by myself. Thank goodness my husband was there to save the day. We both devoured the nachos. The steak was nicely seasoned & the onions were not raw. Major plus for me! It was topped w/lettuce, tomatoes, slices of avocado & sour cream. I could eat this everyday. Chicken Chimichanga - it was filled w/shredded chicken in some kind of delicious red sauce, wrapped, deep fried then topped w/this magical jalapeño cheese sauce served w/a side of rice & salad. OMG! I'm telling you, the cheese sauce MADE the plate. Don't let it fool you. They probably put some kind of drug in it, I don't know. I know it's good when I close my eyes, smile & do my yummy dance. W.O.W! Try it, you won't be disappointed. My husband & I were full after finishing the nachos but we had to try the chimichanga. We cut about 1/3 of it & tried. Wished we would have tried it right when it got to the table still piping hot. Our eyes were more hungry than our appetite. We brought the rest of the chimichanga home. We have ordered to-go many many times but this is probably our 3rd or 4th time eating in. Our waiter today was so nice, fast & clean. After we finished our plate of nachos he came right away to clear the table preparing for our next entree. Aside from today..we always order on TACO TUESDAYS! $1 tacos, can't beat that! Before, the $1 tacos on Tuesdays were a little smaller than regular sized tacos. But now, they are just as big. Love the carne asada! Nicely seasoned with little bits of charred pineapple. YUM!!

Yelp
This review is solely for customer service or lack there of... The food is very good but the female staff are ALWAYS extremely rude. Never are they kind or patient. Never a "thank you" or even a "goodbye" when ending a call for a take away order. It is every single time and every single female that I have ever spoken with. Why!? Why do that? I've just picked up probably my last order. I was not going to leave the tiny parking lot without letting this be known. Damn and ouch - please find some kindness and learn how to use it.

Yelp
Delicious authentic Mexican food is not easy to come by in Pennsylvania but this place is a gem! Had tamales & enchiladas verdes, everything was delicious! Friendly staff, clean restaurant, local. A great option on your way to or from the Philly Airport ! I'll be back.
google avatar

Que J.

Yelp
Food was amazing ! Came out fresh fast and tasteful!! The woman was so sweet and polite and made suggestions that turned out great! Definitely get that authentic Hispanic vibe from this place! Hope to see you there check them out! The parking lot is small but it's plenty of street parking around the area!
google avatar

Yelp
It is a restaurant so food is the most important, it was delicious. Good size portions. Ordered steak nachos and burrito a La Mexicans. Both were quite fresh and tasty. I picked up food so didn't get "served" but I will say for me, being greeted and someone being friendly goes a long way to how I feel about a place. Never like being treated indifferently. A better greeting would have given another star. Again, went for the meal and it was delicious but customer service goes a long way for me so I may not go back. The restaurant itself was completely empty so I may have come at an odd time. Cute inside. Nothing fancy but definitely colorful.

Yelp
In from out of state and was looking for a place to have a long lunch before heading to the airport. It's not what I was expecting...but that's a good thing. If you want a "traditional" mexican restaurant with a hundred tables, drink refills, and unlimited chips with canned salsa, this isn't for you. There's only about 5 tables and most people were taking out. But the food was really good. Guac was fresh and good. My quesadilla had a homemade tortilla - that's 4 stars right there. Excellent neighborhood restaurant. My Uber driver to the airport knew about it and goes there a couple of times a month. So recommended by me...and a local.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in Delco. Just try to prove me wrong! Excellent service. Authentic and delicious food. We take out mostly bit the eat-in atmosphere is great. Don't forget the tres leches for desert.

Yelp
I moved from San Diego to the local area a few months ago... so let's say I'm a Mexican food snob. I've only ordered to-go a handful of times, but I must say - they serve the best tacos I've had so far in the Delaware county area. I've ordered al pastor & carne asada tacos the last few times. Their carne asada was a bit dry the first time I ordered it, but good flavors. Al pastor was amazing! I tried ordering guacamole the last 5 times around 4 PM... and always sold out!!!! Oh, and their horchata is great! Overall, great tacos. However, it's a bit pricey compared to what I am used to, so I have to knock down a star.

Yelp
Numerous visits this summer of 2019. What an incredible addition to this part of Delaware County. I am moving out of the county in two weeks but trust me I will return often to visit and eat. First let me talk about the service : its attentive, friendly accurate and quick. The two different servers I've had over approximately six visits this summer have always had a smile on their face and something pleasant to say. People like that when they dine out. They like to know that their business is appreciated. I love how it's decorated very simply with approximately 5 tables, 3 booths and Mexican paper decorations overhead. It's a bright and cheery place to have a fine meal. I tried too many things here the last four months and I am remiss in not remember omg exactly why I consumed but trust me when I say myself and my dining partners never went away hungry and we always went away happy. Congrats to the owner on the success of your wonderful restaurant

Bruster R.

Yelp
Their steak tacos are very full and tasty. Additionally, the nachos were some of the best we ever had.

Devin D.

Yelp
The food is so genuinely good! The wait staff is also so amazing! I love the aesthetic of the restaurant, it's so cute!

Cole C.

Yelp
I go there all the time there burritos are amazing best ones around if your near bye u should try it out and servers always very nice
google avatar

Jennie S.

Yelp
Probably the best/ most authentic Mexican restaurant in the area. We ordered takeout and the portions were quite generous but a tad salty for my taste. The woman at the counter was kind, even though it seemed a bit busy because it was lunch time. The inside reminded me a lot of Mexico, and very homey. We'll definitely give them another chance. Apparently they have $1 taco Tuesday!
google avatar

Mandy G.

Yelp
I think this is probably a 4-star restaurant, but considering the location, I'm giving 5-stars. This is the best Mexican food I've found in DelCo so far. I got to try the carnitas burrito, rice and beans, and chorizo potato quesadilla. Everything was delicious. Beware the green sauce - it's not guacamole and is very spicy. I actually appreciated all the salsas and spicy touches here. I like things hot and I feel as if lots of places skimp on the spice for fear of offending patrons' tastebuds. I will absolutely be returning.
google avatar

JoAnne Q.

Yelp
Totally disgusting food! Everything we ordered was soaked with grease and tasted awful. Even the pork was over taken over by a gross cheese. Don't waste your time or money trying anything from here.
google avatar

Joaquin M.

Yelp
The food was awesome! The service was fast!! I would suggest just ordering there and waiting or just getting there ten minutes after calling! Def a must try!
google avatar

Chris A.

Yelp
This little place has so much potential I was saddened by constant disappointment. The food was over salted an cold. We waited forever to be served. We waited fo everything. We weren't served the drinks we ordered until our food was served and only after we asked if they were going to bring them. It was a sad night for my guests and I. I hope to try it again, one day and hope to change my opinion. I had hopes.
google avatar

Harry E.

Yelp
Solid Mexican joint. I love that they put refried beans and queso fresco on the the fresh made tortillas chips. The portions are of a good size and everything was made fresh to order. I got the fajitas texanas and was very pleased with my decision. I have only been here once but this seems like the place to get Mexican food in the area.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
The general consensus in my family was not bad, but we've had better. They put out decent food. My wife got fajitas. I got several different tacos. Everything was good, and we left full. But we each can name places where we've had better fajitas and tacos respectively. I will say this. Dessert was absolutely banging! Churros and ice cream will win my heart any time.
google avatar

Greg R.

Yelp
Ordered Alambres norteños and what I got was disgusting. It was made with hot dogs instead of the sausage and steak that was written on the menu. I actually ordered this once before and it was delicious when made with the actual meat. But today they used hots dogs instead!
google avatar

Lydia J.

Yelp
After dropping off the highway for gas, I found this place around the corner. The food was excellent, fresh, huge portions. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I'm so glad to have stumbled upon this place!

Beth B.

Yelp
It was ok. Not as tasty as expected. Waitress was nice enough. Felt like a fast food place. Disappointing after reading other reviews.
google avatar

Nelson D.

Yelp
I am so happy to find authentic Mexican food in the area. While there are a few restaurants in the area (Delaware County) there are only a handful that can be called truly Mexican. The service was friendly and helpful, the ambiance is that of many small restaurants in the area "not a lot of space" but good enough to sit down and enjoy your meal, BUT the food... the FOOD.... try the artisan salsas, they come with your chips. The chips are topped with refried beans, and they're tasty! The have natural drinks (aguas) on the day we visited they had mango, and tamarind both were delicious. And while we will visit a few more times, I already have a favorite plate... try the Chile's Rellenos!
google avatar

M C.

Yelp
This place is brand new. Best authentic Mexican for miles around! Service was excellent and everything was incredibly fresh. Prices are very reasonable. I will be coming here every few days from now on. You just can't get better Mexican food around here. I want to order everything on the menu.

Steve R.

Yelp
So legit! Food was great and the service was friendly and efficient. We were in a bit of a rush, so we all ordered tacos: carne asada, pollo asado, and tinga. All were delicious, and the portions are generous. Two tacos were perfect for the kids. Clearly, the primary language for the staff is Spanish. I don't know if that is why some reviewers knocked the service. We received great service, though.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Nice use of this building which used to house various failing pizza places .... half dozen tables or so wasn't too crowded for lunch, had the Burrito a la Mexicana which had a great presentation, definitely more of a platter knife and fork dish not an American hand held burrito. Lots of flavor and the salsa was just right .... it was the recommended dish by the server .... came with free chips and dips .... I'd def go back to try other dishes
google avatar

Chanthorn H.

Yelp
Everything was extremely flavorful. We definitely enjoyed what we received. Wife ordered the burrito de pollo, I had the alambre Norteno, we all ordered a few tamales to try, and my kids were supposed to get the Carne Asada. My kids had to eat from my wife's and my meal. I guess they misheard what I said on the phone (it was very loud there), so they didn't get anything at all when we came back home and unpacked everything. We did not call back to order again (they didn't charge us for the item), as they were extremely packed. A few recommendation to the shop owner: Update the menu and post better versions on their Facebook or website. We went to yelp and their FB and it was difficult to find which one was the right menu. The FB menu was very blurry. Also, when we ordered, apparently there were more tamales stated than the menu. And to repeat back to order. We would have caught that they were missing my kids entire dish if they just repeated everything we told them. Besides that, I thought the food was great.

Yelp
By far, the most authentic, delicious Mexican food I have had since moving to Philly! Los Machetes is AMAZING! On Friday night, we went out of our comfort zone and ordered take out. We tried the Cemitas, which was a crusty sesame bread with beans, grilled onions, chipotle pepper, avocado, cilantro, tomato, Osaxaca cheese, and ham. The hostess recommended we add breaded chicken too! I have never enjoyed Mexican so much! If I could predict the future, I would predict we become regulars at Los Machetes.
google avatar

Tabatha T.

Yelp
Just delicious! The nachos were great especially accompanied with their guacamole (that didn't stand a chance!). We got a veggie burrito and the milanesa de res (breaded steak). Both were delicious! What a gem of a place and the service (Yadira) was great!

Gateway To The Goddess G.

Yelp
Bland. Very bland unlike authentic Mexican food. It does not taste authentic. Very cheap on the mole even though I specifically said I wanted extra. Service was ok. The ambiance is casual. I do not recommend for actual good food.
google avatar

Sharon M.

Yelp
The good was a absolutely delicious... What a great find. We ordered flautas, burritos, hibiscus tea, churros and arroz dulce... everything was great. The reason for 4 stars vs 5 was bc the tables weren't cleaned... There were several tables available, but only one cleaned!
google avatar

James A. Y.

Yelp
Two of us ate there and we each had a burrito. Both of us enjoy Mexican food and and have been to many Mexican restaurants. This one had very good food and I thought authentic food. The prices were very reasonable and you got plenty to eat. The waitress we had was very good and friendly also. The only thing that kept me from giving five stars was the ambiance. Not a whole lot to the inside of the rest
google avatar

Nate J.

Yelp
Very decent taco's..authentic too..had the Al Pastor..yummy! one order has 3 tacos, but u can't mix them..would be nice if you could..Also need some spicy salsa verde

Leonardo J.

Yelp
The best Mexican food in the area!!! The place is really nice and the service is excellent
google avatar

Natalie P.

Yelp
Bland. Everything is bland. They don't have the choices that other Mexican places have. That giant machete shaped quesadilla? They put barely any meat in it...twice. The green enchilada sauce tastes like a bucket of vinegar was dumped in it before serving. We've tried this place too many times until we finally said no.

Bernard G.

Yelp
I ordered the nachos ranchers. The flavor was excellent however the food was lukewarm. I called in the order and was there before the 15 minutes. Maybe it was because it was a Tuesday night after 8. Would have given 5 stars if hot
google avatar

Regina F.

Yelp
Delicious authentic food! This place will transport you to Mexico! I lived in LA for a number of years and traveled to Mexico a couple of times. I have to say this is the best Mexican food in my 100 mile radius. After devouring the carnitas, lengua, and steak tacos (Mexican style with the roasted cactus on the side), I thought of coming back already for my next meal. Definitely a must try if you are in Delaware county.
google avatar

Alexis A.

Yelp
Placed an order for takeout, after I ordered, she read everything back to me. When I got there and got back into the car with my takeout bag, the fries I ordered were not in the bag. Went back in and she tried making me order them again and pay for them. But on the phone when she read the order back to me, she included the fries. So I just didn't get the fries. When I went home and tried the tacos I ordered, they were so dry and the steak was tough and had fatty pieces. Everything tasted blah. Tried this place spur of the moment, but honestly, not worth it to go back. If you want good Mexican food, just go somewhere else.
