Pretty basic food, service left a lot to be desired. No complimentary chips and salsa, waitress actually tried to change my order to more expensive option. Fajitas were the worst I’ve had. I travel all the time all over the country. No pick, sour cream, tomatoes or lettuce included which is standard. Limited options for hot sauce with deer in the headlights look when I inquired, and none was included in the meal as a house special or standard. Very underwhelming and disappointing for an established business with multiple locations. Very very below… ruined the evening.

Was lured here by PorchFest deals for a cheap margarita and quesadilla combo. Waited over an hour to receive one small quesadilla and no drinks, and needed to remind the staff multiple times about our order to no avail. After we finally got our food, we were still missing a margarita and never received it until we were on our way out and pushed the matter again. We spent so much time waiting and honestly it really deflated our entire day and mood. It seemed like there was only one waitress, so maybe it was an understaffed day, but margaritas and quesadillas aren’t meant to take so long and the margaritas were pre-made in pitchers and ready to go if it was just served to us. Worst experience in a restaurant we have had in a long time, borderline ridiculous honestly. Will not be returning.

For only having one other person in the restaurant the service was terrible and they kept messing up our order by not bringing the right food or completely forgetting that we ordered it when asked multiple times. The guac was good but price will vary, the carne asada tacos were average with not much flavor and a bit dry. Though the quesabirria was really good.

Delicious and authentic! I ordered the asada sopes which had hand made sopes, beans reminiscent of home, Mexican crema and cheese with salsa de chile de arbol. My husband ordered the torta Hawaiiana which he loved. We will definitely come back!

Service was fine, they were nice. HOWEVER, margaritas were $12 and served in a water-cup that was batched and all lime juice. There was an event going on around so no tables, that was fine, we were going to take the food to go. As we waited trying to order food we looked around to see others food and it was a thin tortilla with hardly any meat inside. Finally, the worst part: there was a roach ON the bar where people were eating. We walked out. Disgusting. Would never come back.

I typically order takeout from here a few times a year after my hair appointments. The grilled chicken molcajete portion was rather small this time, with only a single, thin piece of chicken and a small scoop of beans and rice. The extra side of nopales I ordered was also smaller than usual..

The food and drinks are amazing. As a Mexican and LA native, I didn’t think I’d find authentic Mexican food in DC. The pambaso (red torta) was better tasting than some that I’ve had in Mexico City. The asada torta was solid, but man that pambaso is to die for. Still thinking about it. For drinks we tried the Jamaica with mezcal, it was very refreshing, not too sweet, and perfect kick of mezcal at the end. Overall I’d say the food was great in quality and quantity for the price. The service was awesome , our waiter Francisco Javier is a little slice of heaven. Super conversational and friendly. Give that man a raise!

As someone with Mexican roots who is from Texas, I’ve been waiting for this spot to open for a few weeks now, so when I saw that it was open, I immediately jumped on the opportunity to order takeout. My order was done within 15-25 minutes. When I walked in for pick up, there wasn’t anyone at the entrance except for a family of customers who were already seated and dining. A few minutes after standing around, a young man came up and asked for my name and order. Shortly after, he delivered my order and I went on my way. For context, I ordered an asada taco, an asada sope, and a chicken sope. The second I opened the taco box, I was surprised to see a homemade tortilla (two to be exact). The portion of meat was on the smaller side and had a few fatty pieces, but overall tasted well marinated. My one complaint is that I wish they would’ve added more cilantro to the taco. It was sparse and affected the potential of the flavor. The sopes were similarly good, though they were unfortunately completely soggy by the time I got home. I wish they were a little thicker to be able to hold it while eating it. As they stand now they resemble a huarache more than a sope. I will note that I appreciate the pinto beans they add to the sope. They’re not refried beans, though, so don’t go in anticipating refried beans on your sope. Apart from the minimal details I mentioned, I’d recommend this place to anyone searching for a good, authentic Mexican food. By far, this is the best proper Mexican restaurant I’ve tried in the DMV. I echo everyone’s sentiments in the reviews regarding how DC has been needing a place like this one. Forget all the other establishments in the area, please make this spot your go-to if you want authenticity. They have a lot of group seating so bring your friends and family with you.

Food: 3/5; my husband had an order of sopes with a margarita, and I ordered a torta sandwich with a strawberry margarita. I personally was not a fan of the taste or amount of cheese placed on the sandwich. My husband shared that his sopes did not taste freshly made at all. Drinks were okay. Service: needs improvement. After placing our order and receiving the food, we never saw the waitress again. My husband went to the bartender to ask for our bill when we were ready to leave. Value: typical D.C prices for average food. Ambiance: Needs one. While my husband and I dined here, it was very silent. Initially, there was another couple near us that engaged in light chatter then left. When they left, an older male sat in a booth behind us. The man was a loud drinker.With every sip of his drink, we could hear the liquid being swallowed then burped out. Location: located in the Adams Morgan area of the district. Area is pride friendly. Street parking (difficult to find a space, sometimes) or public garage parking. Other restaurants, bars, and hookah lounges in the area.

Since my partner just got takeout, this review isn't for the full experience, but even the takeout was good enough to earn four stars. We entered before the lunch/brunch rush on a Sunday, and gave the order for a vegetable burrito on the spot. We waited at the bar, which was very pretty, I could see this being a fun spot in the evening. The burrito was ready less than 10 minutes later, and while my eyebrows shot up at the $17 total cost, I guess it makes sense for the area and that this is a proper restaurant (not a takeout spot) with a fancy bar. Anyway, verdict on the burrito? The quality and the generous portion made my partner decide it was worth the price, for an occasional fancy burrito. Multiple varieties of beans, flavorful Mexican rice, well-cooked peppers and onions distributed evenly throughout the filling, and a tasty sauce on the side. Overall a good meal, but it's probably worth it to do an eat-in next time.

Came here with a few of my friends on the day of Porchfest. We came around 5:30 and were able to get a table and seated very quickly. The staff are very friendly, however, it took a while to order and get our food and drinks even though it was not very busy. Having worked in restaurants for years, I completely understand some days are busier than others whether they are understaffed that day or back ups in the kitchen. We expected some delays due to Adam's Morgan being very busy that day. We ordered a Mango Margarita Pitcher for 3 of us and were disappointed when the pitcher did not even fill up 3 of our glasses. We each got a little more than half of a drink and were charged $45 for it. It would have been cheaper to do our own individual margaritas for $13. Our food was pretty good, however, we never did end up getting the complimentary chips and salsa and kept accidentally getting the table next to us's order. I shared the shrimp, steak and chicken fajita with my friend and the chicken and shrimp were really good but I was not a fan of the steak personally. It came with beans and rice mixed together and tortillas. I am not a fan of beans so i did not like that it was mixed but that was a personal preference. I wish it came with guacamole, sour cream or pico. Overall I would give it another chance but would not get the pitcher again. The margarita was okay but not very good and that might be due to the pitcher having a lotttt or ice in it. Our server was nice and i can tell they were just a little overwhelmed.

This is the way food should be made. The cheese dip is great. The enchiladas are the best I have eat in a long time. Great food.

The food was good and fresh. We were walking by while visiting Adams Morgan and decided to give them a try. No regrets here. I ordered the Texanas Fajitas which comes with steak, chicken, and shrimp. Everything was tasty. I even enjoyed 2 margaritas to get the night started. The restaurant was empty inside when we arrived, but most people were sitting outside. Our server was outstanding, and the atmosphere was attractive. I will definitely return. 5 Stars!

Yikes. Sorry, this place is not great. The fact that it was empty on a Thursday night should've told us something. We ordered the beef and chicken Loaded Nachos (and she repeated our order back), but we were brought chicken only, drenched in cheese that could've come from a Tostitos jar. The free chips were reheated, not fresh. The Amarga Dolor cocktail - gin, mezcal, prickly pear - was undrinkable. And the whole place smelled like they had just wiped everything down with bleach. The place gets two stars because the server was nice enough, the decor is festive, and the food came out quickly. That's pretty much it.

Service was great, we sat at the bar which you can overlook outside. The drinks were great! Jalapeño Margarita was so good and spicy! You can watch them make it and they serve you in a Mexican glass. The place is nicely decorated, only suggestion is to remove all the cold white lights and replace them with warm white orange-ish lightbulb. They foods were great quality and good portions. Definitely coming back.

We came in on a weeknight and it was very quiet inside with one server who waited on us. They could have used some music because it was quiet inside, but when our food came out, everything was fantastic. Everything was fresh and really great flavors, a step up from a lot of Mexican food in the area in my opinion. I'll be back and hope they get more diners coming in because it's a really nice spot with great food

The worst steak burritos and quesadillas that I've ever had in my life. It was like eating cafeteria food. (This was all ordered to go) The burrito looked ok, but when bit into we were immediately hit with SALT overload and burnt steak and beans. It was terrible. One individual that bit into the burrito ended up having an itchy mouth. The quesadilla looked bad. Smelled bad. And ended up in the trash. All quesadillas are $18 regardless if you get meat or only mushrooms. Very bad. Since my order was to go we didn't realize any of these issues until we were all nestled nicely in our home.

Uff, a new gem in Adam's Morgan. Street Tacos are superb, you can tell they make their own tortillas. Margaritas on-point, not too sweet. Definitely looking forward to check the rest of their menu.

I came in really hungry and left super happy. The salsa was incredible. I asked the waiter if I could buy a side of it to take home and he gave me some I also got the verde chicken enchiladas and asked if they could do light cheese. He said of course, do you also want light sour cream? So thoughtful! And DELICIOUS! So fresh. My friend got the nopales sopes. Had to google what they were but basically cactus and mushrooms over a fried corn base. The veggies were delicious and perfectly seasoned. Overall 10/10. Highly recommend!

Jose was our waiter. My friend & I stopped in for a midday snack. We ordered steak and shredded chicken tacos. Also chips & salsa. My friend is a bit of a food snob, so I was expecting some complaints. She loved EVERYTHING!!! The chips are home made as well as the corn tortillas. We both highly recommend this restaurant!!!!

we ordered chips and queso and drinks. the drinks took almost an hour to come out. the queso is melted string cheese. the coronas were unopened. its literally melted cheese with soft taco shells it's GROSS. it's not queso it's lukewarm cheese and a tortilla. I asked them to just cancel the drink after the gross cheese thing came out and they ignored me. Do not go to this restaurant, there's so many better places on 18th

Incredible food. Spicy margaritas were definitely spicy. Nachos had super thick authentic chips that didn't get soggy! Ambience also great, people watching was fun.

Best quesabirria tacos I've ever had!! Walked out in a trance! Definitely will be returning.

Popped in for dinner on a whim and WOW. The best Mexican food we've had in DC. Great service, prices, and stellar food. Special shout out to the rice and beans, and cactus that came on my carne asada. We've already planned to make it a regular spot.

We went on Saturday night and no one was in there, which was great, until the overall smell of the place hits your nostrils. We couldn't eat there and had to leave because of it.

Yesterday I visited this establishment for Cinco De Mayo and was absolutely astonished by what I experienced and saw from the staff. Once I entered I wasn't immediately serviced and had to wait at least 10 minutes before I was able to place my order(although there was plenty of staff around and only a few patrons already seated). Once I was finally able to place my order and pay I noticed that there had been some commotion on the outside of the restaurant. When I looked out I saw one of the waitresses and a few other staff members getting into an altercation with a some patrons that were leaving. The waitress proceeded to yell "that's why we hate you niggers" VERY loudly. To the point that people from other establishments proceeded to come out. I was absolutely astonished and also heartbroken. I proceeded to leave without my food unfortunately. I will not be visiting this establishment again and hope others that have a sense of dignity do not either!

We were out Saturday night in Adams Morgan, not sure where we wanted to eat and kind of in a crappy mood after a long day, when we ended up here. And we're really happy we did. Tasty, fresh, well presented food and drinks. Reasonable prices, friendly and attentive staff with the owner on site, clean restaurant and bathrooms, colorful and cheerful decor. They have a bar downstairs, a dining room upstairs, and outdoor seating out front. We sat in the dining room. They started us off with complimentary chips (not too salty, which we appreciated, although they did offer a salt shaker for those who like extra salty chips) with red and green salsas. We like habanero salsa, so the owner Jose brought us some of that too. We got several drinks (all in the $10-12-ish range) -- all tasty with a good amount of alcohol. Since this was our first time here, we ordered the sampler platter for 2 people for $49, which gave us a good sense of the range of the menu, since it came with beef, chicken, shrimp, blistered jalapeño, cactus leaves, pork ribs, melted cheese (so good), black beans, rice, and corn tortillas -- which were particularly good because they were freshly made in-house! So they had a really lovely corn flavor. I would have taken a photo, but we were too busy eating! :) We were so happy with finding Los Molcajetes that we ordered some more food for takeout to have the next day, and they even gave us extra salsa and habanero. This is definitely our new, go-to casual Mexican place. Overall, great value and we had a great time.
