Los Ocampo Express

I was CRAVING a pastor quesadilla, so I tried this place when downtown. I have been around Hispanics for over 18 years & have had awesome foods/not so good. The pastor meat was in a soup? NEVER seen that before, so I was hesitant to eat meat there. I ordered a cheese quesadilla, it was HUGE (should be for $12.50) yet they did not give enough salsa, creama, or guacamole. The fountain drink machine was not working, & they were out of a salsa I wanted. Carnita tacos are $3/piece for taco Tuesday. Probably won’t go back, 3 stars for the size & flavor of the food I had.

At 12:31, they ran out of chicken halfway through filling my order. Just blopped a different protein on the plate. No refried beans even though that was what was pictured. Repeated my order several times, to blank stares. Surely there is better elsewhere.

Stopped here for lunch and it was fantastic! The burritos are really big and full of fresh meats and veggies with a perfect mix of rice. The chips were really good, the queso was tasty, but I wish it was thicker. Very lovely decor honoring Día de los Muertos, a definite stop again for lunch very soon!

DO NOT EAT HERE! THE FOOD IS GARBAGE! I ASKED FOR 4 STREET TACOS WITH HOT SAUCE. THE MEAT WAS SO HARD I COULDNT BITE INTO IT LET A LONE CHEW IT! THEY TELL YOU AFTERWARDS THAT THERE ARE NO RETURNS. THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY DONT ANSWER THE PHONE HERE. IT WASNT EVEN STREET TACOS THAT I RECEIVED! I HAD TO PAY $19. FOR A PILE OF CRAP THAT I HAD TO THROW IN THE GARBAGE!

This is usually my favorite mexican restaurant in downtown Minneapolis despite having a short menu due to the pandemic. But today when ordering my "torta de tinga de pollo" ( mexican sandwich ) there was no Oaxaca cheese that makes it special different from the others, and the chips were very greasy. The customer service is slow but is understandable due to the current situation but the quality of the food should still be of a better quality.

Food is always bomb, lines are long over lunch, that's a good thing right?! Steak quesadilla is worth the trek across DT during the noon rush. No horchata today 😪 can't give it the full 5 stars they normally deserve. Update! Los Ocampo food truck found on 2nd Ave & 5th St, no more treks across DT, get the good stuff right here! Horchata on the spot, tacos we're so good, I forgot to take a pic. Nom, nom, nom!

Salsa verde (hot)! A bit spicier than the stock midwestern palate can handle but was just spicy enough that it left your mouth warm and tingly. I got a mix of three tacos of varying meats and all were delicious! The place was busy during the lunch hour but service was fast =) If you like tacos defiantly check it out if you are downtown Minneapolis.

Top shelf Mexican, a bit overpriced for lunch but that's downtown for yah. Bowl was perfect.

The food here was great! I got the beef meal. This came with taco shells beef lettuce cheese and rice. I took it home and added my own taco sauce and sour cream. They have the Coca Cola soda from Mexico in the glass bottles which I also got. That is my favorite soda! Overall good experience and great people working there. Quick and fast.

Food was fine but the cost was outrageously high. Even for downtown Minneapolis. They also nickel and dime you for so many toppings which is not stated on the menu or shared by the employees. Food taste doesn't not outweigh the cost. Would not go back.

Hit the spot, especially for a mall place. Quick counter style service and seating are available. Flavours were great, prices reasonable and would definitely return and try something else. Wish they were open earlier for a breakfast burrito or later! Everything tastes fresh and homemade.

I love this place. Their Cuban is my favorite sandwich of all time, and I've been eating sandwiches for 60 years. You will enjoy anything on the menu board that looks good to your. Counter service is always friendly. There is a lot of great ethnic food on Lake Street but this is my favorite..

Man! Their food was good! I'd been looking them up on Yelp, but didn't' want to walk alllll the way thru downtown and happened to walk up on their food truck! Yay me!!! Service; Very pleasant, fast and good Food: Large quantity and delicious

Growing up in California, I was always spoiled with having a ton of really amazing Mexican food on practically every street corner. When I moved to Minnesota, I realized that there aren't nearly as many authentic Mexican restaurants in the Midwest as there were back home, and a good number of the Mexican restaurants here are somewhat "Americanized." Luckily, I've managed to find some great, traditional spots in the Twin Cities that remind me of the Mexican food I grew up eating, and while you are unlikely to find a place like "Los Ocampos" on a street corner in Guadalajara or Oaxaca, it definitely leans a lot more toward that type of food than it does toward "hard shell tacos with ground beef and shredded cheese" type places that would make any true Californian cry (although this restaurant does, sadly, offer all of those things as options). The format of this place is a lot more "Chipotle/Qdoba" than "taqueria;" you order at a counter, assembly-line style, and get a choice between a bowl, plate, burrito, torta, tacos, or a few other options. However, many of their ingredients are a lot more traditional than those big chains. You can choose from a wide range of authentic meats, including asada, al pastor, carnitas, and chorizo. Their toppings are great too: they have cilantro, onions, pineapple, cabbage, avocado, and a ton of different salsas. They also offer the Mexican version of Coca-Cola, which blows the American version out of the water. Put all this together, and you can build a pretty yummy meal for yourself. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. There was hardly anyone there when I visited, but it can get busy during lunch hours.

Super impressed with this great new taco shop in the skyway! They have a ton of choices (burritos, tacos, machetes, etc.) with plenty of protein options and toppings for each. I got the Burro Al Pastor, which came with chips and guacamole, for $9. The burrito was HUGE and the meat was cooked really nicely. There were multiple options for salsa, but I went with the mango pico de gallo, which was absolutely delicious. My one suggestion would be to increase the font size on the menu. There were some people in line who couldn't read the options before they got up to order. I would definitely recommend this place, and I'm happy that there's finally a new option for Mexican food in the skyway!

So glad I tried this place for lunch! Chipotle, you might have some pretty fierce competition in the skyways... Los Ocampo Express recently opened in City Center, right above the escalators (great location for the lazier folk like myself). I was intimidated by the long line at a glance, but had heard that it moves pretty quickly. I can confirm this is true! There's a LOT of tasty options on the menu -- I'm talking tortas, machetes, even fried plantains! And so many meat, veggie, and salsa options to choose from as well. If you're indecisive, you might want to glance at their menu online first. I got three tacos - one with pollo tinga, one with pollo marinado, and the last with al pastor. I love how you can get different meats and toppings on each taco (whereas some Mexican places limit you to one type)! The meat was flavorful, the topping portions were generous, and the price was reasonable. Call me a happy, full gal. Check this spot out if you haven't yet! I'll be back soon.

Visited the Skyway location. The man behind the counter was extremely personable and gave recommendations on the menu. I wanted something small, so I order a single chicken taco on a flour tortilla..He loaded it up with but with lots of topping (the pico and the chicken was SO flavorful). It cost me $3 for a surprisingly big and awesome tasting taco.

Food tastes great, but prices keep raising (over $10 with tax for this burrito alone), and the 5 chips they consistently put with the meal is borderline insulting. Won't be coming back anymore.

Los Ocampo Express is just simply outstanding. The whole place definitely had a very cool vibe. Pretty much every menu item that we ordered was really fresh and flavorful. Staff ensured that everything was okay. Couldn't ask for more with this visit to Los Ocampo Express.

Better than a Chitpotle. More choices. Better service. Good food. Hot sauce is great. Love it for a quick lunch.

A very pleasant surprise to find this restaurant today. Great queso blanco, excellent chicken quesadilla. Very pleasant atmosphere and fairly speedy service. Can't wait to go back.

I will give them three stars for loading on the toppings and being really nice people. The spices were great, but the flavors were lacking. I had veggie tacos with fajitas (sauteed peppers and onions, they were out of pumpkin flower) and tons of toppings. For $1.95+tax, you get one scoop of guacamole. Supposedly avocados are not extra, but they did not have any out. Also, website says $1.99 tacos on Mondays, but they do not honor this. The reason given was that they "are new downtown, just opened and [they] do not have any specials." The website should be updated to reflect this as this was the only reason I tried it! I'm glad they are downtown, but the Midtown location is best!

I've had great experiences here in the past, and really enjoyed the food. When I went today, however, the spicy sauce (which has been fine in the past) was so overwhelmingly oily that I couldn't even eat my tacos, which just tasted like oil in any event. Extremely disappointing for a usually rock-solid lunch option.
