Los Ocampo Mexican Restaurant & Bar

Los Ocampo was about as expected based on other reviews. It seemed a bit pricey for the portions, but the quality was solid! I got Tripa tacos + beans and rice (~$14.99) and churros (~$8.99). The restaurant appears to have different specials going on all the time. For example, the combo I got for $14.99 was a Monday special. The tacos were delicious and the sauce added a nice kick. I don’t believe the sauces are something they typically give out, as they asked us if we wanted any hot sauces and if so, which sauces we wanted (we asked for all 3). Churros were tasty! The customer service was lacking - it took a while to get waters, and when we were ready to order, our waitress wasn’t around to take our order (we didn’t even know the waitress was different from the hostess because we didn’t even see our waitress the entire time we were deciding on what to get). The hostess couldn’t answer a question we had about the food, either. They were otherwise nice and pleasant to interact with though. Overall, not bad at all. But for the effort it took to find parking and waiting to order a somewhat spendier meal, I’m not sure I would come here again anytime soon.

Come visit this new location! The atmosphere is great! I sat at the bar tonight since I came on a whim by myself and I was delighted by the friendly bartender and other patrons. The decor inside is fun and inviting. My Paloma was fantastic and the was delicious- as expected. Service was fast and the specials were a nice surprise. Added bonus: the Saints away game was on! I'll definitely be back for another solo date night!

Great ambiance. We really enjoyed the patio and the waiters had quick service for taking our order and bringing our food. The weather was great outside, and we enjoyed that the patio emptied around 8pm and we had it to ourselves. Only downside was that our table was close to the door and got hit a couple times, the servers apologized and were amicable though, the patio can only accommodate a few tables. The food and drinks tasted great as well.

The waiter we had was very good. A waiter who I’d tip even if we weren’t expected to in America. I ordered a chimichanga with chicken. The salad it came with was nice and rich. It had guac, which some places unfortunately don’t add. The Chimechanga tasted somewhat “round”, like the flavors were mildly homogenous, but it was still a great item. Not crispy by the way. The sauce tasted kind of just like a tomato sauce, possibly mildly altered; it wasn’t like a dedicated flavorful rich enchilada sauce. It didn’t include the Mexican white sauce which I love but rather had melted cheese on top. The sauces this place had were surprisingly unique and great. I haven’t had similar ones before. One was a mildly creamy chili pepper sauce. And another was a cool but spicy mildly guac sauce. I’d definitely recommend trying them. My friend ordered a quesadilla. The shell seemed homemade almost. It was thick and flavorful. Also, this place has an authentic, custom neon sign!!! I’m a BIG fan of huge authentic real neon signs.

Celebrated my daughter's 17th birthday here and it was amazing. Great courtesy from the staff and manager, accommodating space, welcoming and friendly service. They were very attentive, aloud is to bring in gifts, balloons and cake mins you toss was last minute. Made a call to the manager and was welcomed with open arms. Great place to visit, excellent food as well, the entire table was happy.

Thank you so much Los ocampo we ordered two burritos and spent almost $45 after delivery to get a tortilla and rice. The entire burrito was literally rice. I kept eating it hoping that at some point it would be something more but I finished it and I ate a tortilla filled with rice. Picture included.

I’ve never posted a review but had to after this experience. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but got steak fajitas and it was 60% gristle. Server was absent and didn’t refill any beverages. It wasn’t very busy and everything took much longer get than any other Mexican restaurant I’ve been to. For the price, I would expect better quality and service.

Was very exited to come try this place but it was actually horrible! The service was so bad! We were a table of two and waited over 20 minutes for our sever to come great us and take our order. We were here for an HOUR and never received our food. Our server came up to us to ask if we had gotten our food and we said no and he said sorry someone must have closed out your order. We decided to just leave at this point because we waited for an hour and we got no food, did not receive no compensation nothing to try to make our experience better. Such a disappointment of a restaurant, truly would not recommend it!

My bestie has been talking about this recently and heard great things. We finally got to try it out and this place is delicious. With. Menu this size, we joked about it taking us a year to try everything we wanted. We just startled laughing at how big the menu was - literally. You can't go wrong with what you pick, but it may take some time choosing. We tried the quesabirra tacos and beef quesadilla with a side of chips and salsa. The portions are generous and my wallet appreciated the pricing. Will be back to try the burritos and chimichangas in the future. Still thinking of all the good smells. Kudos to the kitchen staff. Very well done and very authentic.

The ambience of Los Ocampos was amazing! So many colorful posters, sombreros, and liquors on the wall. My table ordered the chips and salsa, but the ratio of chips was off. It came with 3 salsas and they were all in 3oz cups. They were ok, not the best. I wish there was a chunky salsa. Subpar, but the queso was really good! I ordered the chicken enchiladas with a green sauce. It came with rice and beans which is a good price for what you pay. It was what I expected. Didn't blow my socks off, but I did not have a lot to complain about. I would say just add little more sauce and add a little more flavor. Overall, I really enjoyed my first experience here and it's a great asset for University of St. Thomas. Will be going back to try their drinks!

Los Ocampo opened their newest location just over the river in St Paul and it's my new go-to for Mexican food. HUGE menu, nice setting, decent price, great food and attentive service. What's not to love?

This was my first time to this location and it was hopping around 8:00pm. The vibrant bright colors when you walk in the door are welcoming along with the prompt friendly service as well. Our server Emily was nice and attentive. The menu has SO many options to choose from (not kidding, allow yourself about 10 minutes to look through the menu), but Emily shared her favorites and we decided from there. We enjoyed the chips and salsa, Quesabirria Tacos con Consome, and Quesadilla with ground beef. Everything was very delicious and our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomaches. The beef in the quesabirrja tacos were very flavorful. The quesadilla was cooked to perfection and just packed full. The radishes added a nice extra crunch that compliments the dish very well. Next time, I'd want to try the other salsa options. I also have my eye on the Birria Torta, so yes, I'll definitely be back soon.

Yay, they're open! I've been excited to try them and wasn't disappointed. The store front is modest, but once inside you can sit in a nice restaurant and bar. I had the Birra Torta (which you'd think I could pronounce easily, but just ended up pointing to it). Anyway, we had pleasant and attentive service and great food. It's definitely going to be in the rotation.

We were sat right away and the staff were as very attentive. The food was very good, with large portions. Parking in the back was convenient and the inside was warm and comfortable, nice casual dining.

I got the sabores without cheese, and they were good, but it wasn't that much food, especially for how much they cost (3/5). They give you 10 tortillas but only enough meat for four of them. Also, the service was pretty slow (2/5). The interior of the restaurant is well decorated, and it isn't too loud inside.

My boyfriend and I decided to eat here when we were traveling through St. Paul. I ordered a plain cheese quesadilla and a root beer with no ice. My quesadilla was served cold with the cheese still in shreds, it was not melted. We also order chips and queso and I don't know why but the chips tasted horrible and the queso arrived mostly cold as well, little to no flavor other than the overwhelmingly disgusting chips. My boyfriend ordered La torte, he told me it tasted like the beef was left out all day, his food came hot but now he has an upset stomach. My root beer was watered down even though I ordered it with no ice. The service members were okay, they stopped at our table maybe twice, and we got a rude look from a server when my boyfriend accidentally dropped his straw wrapper off the table. (We always clean up after ourselves when we are done with our meal as I am also a server.) The ambiance of the restaurant was colorful and had nice warm lighting but the baby changing table in the restroom was disgusting. I would not recommend eating here to anyone. I was very disappointed.

We loved this place! We really enjoyed the food and our margaritas were super. The wait staff was kind and attentive.
