This place is legendary and historic, I've been coming here since I was a teen (now anytime I visit I try to go) I have nothing but good memories here so you know the food is awesome. As a youth I almost exclusively ordered pupusas and atole but this time I really wanted the tamale 🫔 and yucca that comes in the Plato Tipico and it WAS so good. I also got the bebida de "ensalada de frutas" which I have never had but was delighted by, it's what its name implies, it's a refreshing punch with lots of little bits of fruit in it. Super satisfying and worth the visit

This place has excellent food and delicious pupusas! The menu had various things, and the service was also good. The restaurant is decorative and showcases culture throughout.

As my friend from Tijuana remarked after we cleared our plates, this is probably as authentic as it gets! This food is absolutely amazing, the amount of times I said "wow" between bites would make you think I'm a broken record 😂 The Carne Asada con Platanos was something sent from heaven. The buttery goodness of the Carne Asada paired with the Frijoles, along with the sweetness from the Platanos made every bite more and more enjoyable. Don't even get me started on the Pupusas, I have no words as I slammed my hands to the table out of pure joy and relief. I HIGHLY recommend you go for these if you're looking for a cheap but feeling bite! They have a unique horchata that gives it a crispier and more richer, earthier taste to it. It reminds me of a traditional chai tea turned into a horchata with grainy/rice notes. Very toasty, very delicious!

Delicious pupusas! Delicious soups! Never been disappointed with a dish I ordered. Great portions and Great service!

The smell in there was not one to wake up an appetite. Not sure what it was but it smelled sour. My order was wrong and when I got my replacement Pupusas they were half cooked and definitely not tasty. They tasted like raw tortilla masa. The soup was mediocre. I won't be back!!

I placed a large order (5 dozen pupusas) They had my order hot and ready at the time promised and even helped me bring the trays to my car. Very polite staff. The pupusas, Curtis and salsa were delicious. The salsa jas the perfect spicy level. I will definitely be ordering take out again!

Not always the nicest people (as far as service) but this was a favorite place for my brother to seek late night food and refuge. Hes taken me here several times and now I make my way there everytime I drive into the city. Hungry or not. I take my kids so they can enjoy the culture as well. We are part Salvadoran and this is one food I dont make at home for them. Pupusas. They are better here than the places in my city

Really good Papusas! The last page of the menu is all Spanish and seems to be where the best value items are. Chips and Salsa for $1.25 and $5 papusas, we had a variety of vegetarian ones and they were fantastic!

Best pupusas I've ever had. And the people who work there are super kind. Their Horchata is made in a toasted way that I can't find anywhere else. So I always order it when I come thru. Salsa is fabulous too~

One of my favorite places to eat in all of San Francisco. Been going for almost 20yrs and if I could eat there every week I would. (I live across town ) My only issue is the pupusas are soo good I order too mean and get too full. This is my soul food. Best pupusa's, cabbage, red sauce, rice n beans in town.

We got to-go from Los Panchos and this place is a hidden gem in the neighborhood. The pupusas and the carne asada plate with plantains, beans and rice was delicious. If you get to go, would highly recommend calling ahead. We placed our order at the restaurant and it took 20-30 minutes

I got the two pupusas deal (with frijoles only) for $7.50. It was super filling. I think the pupusas were a little salty and the beans didn't have enough flavor but for the price and size, it was a good deal. The curtido was too tangy for my liking but I still ate it all. The salsa was really good. Everyone was friendly and the menu was pretty extensive. Lots of seating.

The enchiladas are my go-to, but the pupusas are equally amazing. You can taste the freshness and love in every bite. Los Panchos is more than a restaurant--it's a legacy. If you are in sf you never want to miss this place it's a must to know what real sf is about.

Our service was veryyy slow. We came in on a Sunday around 8 and we waited almost an hour for our food. However, the food was delicious. We all loved our pupusas. It tasted very authentic and fresh. I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area!

This is my go to place for sopa de res and pupusas. The food is always delicious and satisfying. The pupusas (2 per order) are hand made and come with the classic red salsa and curtido. The sopa de res always has a good portion of veggies in it like yucca, zucchini, carrot, cabbage and also comes with tortillas and lemon. I also like the horchata as it isn't overly sweet as some places tend to make it. I eventually will try something else on the menu, but it's hard for o not get pupusas every time.

Been coming here for years. Food is great, just be patient. Service is friendly and pleasant. It's a very welcoming location. The pupusas are very good.

The pupusas here were solid--hot, fresh, and really flavorful. The curtido and salsa were on point too. Good portions for the price, and the vibe was relaxed. Definitely worth stopping by if you're craving Salvadoran food. Fast and amazing service!

Came here back here in October. Service was practically non-existent. There was no one to seat us and our waitress didn't even bother bringing us the check even though we asked for it. After waiting for at least ten minutes, we ended up waiting at the cash register and lining up to pay. Note there is a credit card transaction fee which was made known beforehand. Food-wise, the revueltas were very good but the lorocco pupusa and the sopa de pollo were quite bland. The ambiance was festive and vibrant. Just wish the service had been more attentive.

If you want made to the order pupusas this is the place for you. This restaurant has become my favorite place to go eat pupusas at and for many other items that I enjoy on the menu too. Go check them out.

Had dinner here on a Saturday night at about 7pm, got a table right away. We started off with Yuca con Chicharon and Platanos Fritos. Both were very fresh. Than we order some Pupusas con Queso y Loroco and a bowl of Sopa de Res. The pickle cabbage and salsa for the papusas were very good and fresh. The beef soup is one of the best I had and came with 2 nice pieces of tender beef. The service was great and the price is even better for great tasting food!!

Service: 5/5! I didn't get her name but she was so sweet and kind! Food: 4/5 We got the pork and cheese pupusas, which were delicious! I'm definitely coming back to try another flavor. The rice and beans were my favorite. It tasted like home style cooking - it didn't taste heavy in oil or sodium but still very flavorful! Price: 4/5 It's a bit expensive but not ridiculous for SF pricing. Street parking but it's free on Sunday! Definitely coming back! I love supporting small businesses like this one

This is my go-to spot for fresh hand made pupusas in San Francisco. The dough is perfectly made, the pupusas are perfectly cooked with oozing cheese and crispy bits. I also love their Sangria. It's one of my favorites. Recently I drank an entire pitcher of the Sangria on my own it was just that good. :) I took a ride share home of course. They also have tasty chips and salsa. **Pro tip, get extras to take home and reheat in your cast iron and get them nice and crispy the next day!

Back in the days I lived 2 blocks away from here. My mother & I used to eat here every now & then. It's been awhile. So when I got off work, I was in the neighborhood and was thinking about what to eat for dinner. Then Los Panchos came to mind. Had to get the Chicken enchilada suiza(my personal favorite), sopa de res, sopa de Pollo, pupusas, chips & salsa (I love the salsa!!!) I love this place cause it's like a home cooked meal, satisfying! (And "I" didn't have to cook! SCORE!)

Every now and then I get a craving for pupusas, so Los Panchos for a lunch with friends seemed like a pretty grand idea. Food - The pupusas are filling, good value, and just yummy. My favorite might be the Revuelta (pork + cheese) but I don't think you can go wrong. Beyond pupusas there are also burritos, enchiladas, and more. Space - It's clean, spacious, and easy to hang around chatting with your pals after. Service - Places like this seem to be 50/50 on whether you order at the counter or have table service, but it's table service here. Kind staff. I don't have the lowdown on all the best pupusa spots in the city but I surely liked this one and would gladly come back!

Anytime of the day it is, these pupusas always fulfill those Mission st taste buds. A nice welcome when enter , It's one of the cozy family owned restaurants that you want to try other things but the same thing you order every time hits the spot over and over. When I'm in town you'll always catch me here.

Some of the best pupusas I've had in awhile! Everything was perfect. The broth was delicious and the vegetables in the caldo de res was flawless. their salsa isnt spicy but it had great flavor. The agua fresca de fruta was the best! Even gave me a spoon to pickout the fruit. Love the decorations...can't wait to come back

Family meal bonanza!! Come here for a hearty meal that will leave you and the whole family feeling happy and satiated. Went vegetarian for this meal, trying the platanos fritos con frijoles y crema (fried plantains with sour cream and retried beans, the latter two of which you basically use as dips for the sweet plantain slices), the zucchini pupusas, and the plantain burrito. All of which was delicious, the wonderful flavors and textures bringing back memories of birthday celebrations at El Salvadoran restaurants as a kid. I didn't get to finish the burrito, but it made a fantastic leftover lunch the next day. Definitely would come here again, just prepare for an extremely long wait (also wish the plantains were cooked a bit softer). The service is amazing though (they're so kind and accommodating), and the interior is so fully decorated that you have something to keep you occupied as you wait for your food! Also, the cheese in the pupusas was the stretchiest cheese I've ever eaten!

This is my go to spot for papusas. I always order the mixed pork and cheese. They never disappoint, so delicious. The service is always on point. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait to get your food but this isn't fast food, it's good food.

I have been coming here for years and it's always a treat when I can stop by. We ordered pupusas revueltas de maíz y una de arroz. These are my favorite pupusas in the city, the filling has great flavor and has a very good amount. The service has always been great, it's like talking to my tias and abuelita. The Sopa de Pollo is brimming full of wonderful , comforting flavor . It is absolutely extraordinary . The Best in town by far !

Great, authentic Mexican food in the "La Lengua" part of the Mission (often/mistakenly slept on!). I tried their signature pupusas (one pork, one jalapeño), and the chile relleno de carne (served with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas). I can best describe the taste as homey, comfort food, and something like grandma would make. Everything was extremely fresh, and particularly with the relleno, all the flavors added up to something greater than the sum of its parts (the beans were a standout!). On the pupusas, I'd give a slight edge to the jalapeño, but I like spicy so there's some bias there. Add a kick of the provided red salsa and it's just enough to get your day going. I will say that the pupusas were ever so slightly undercooked, and I wish there were a tad more cheese, but I don't think this will stop me from coming back and trying the others (again, the flavors were on point). My waitress was really kind and let me try one of their fruit drinks, which had apples and oranges (and mangoes?) and was also extremely fresh and delicious. My one nit (otherwise keeping this from a 5 star experience) was the prices were somewhat inconsistent; the pupusas were good value at $7.50 for two, but the relleno was $18, a bit steep. Also they charge $2 extra for sour cream. Not enough to derail everything, but worth noting nonetheless. I think I'll return to try some other dishes on the menu (the sopas especially looked good!).

super friendly staff and by far the best pupusas that my boyfriend and i have ever had! we've been on the hunt for pupusas especially since my mom is a big fan of them and was recommended to try Los Panchos. we were not disappointed. their pupusas came out within 10 minutes of ordering and we also had nacho fries w/ steak to try! absolutely love how you can tell everything is fresh from their ingredients to their salsa. extremely flavorful and love the chicharron! we ordered some to go too! there is metered parking and so it might be hard if you go on a busy day, but it was really well decorated inside and we are definitely coming again!

This place is amazing! Everyone there is so friendly and the food is incredible. Seriously best pupusas in the city! Plus, after moving from San Diego, I've been on the hunt for some quality rice and beans and these taste just like my abuela's. The portions are great and the pricing is fair (especially for being in the city). Such a great spot!

Long wait. That's typical when you go to any pupuseria because they make it when you order. My in-laws are Salvadoran and I've had my share of pupusas up and down the Bay Area. I've always liked any pupusa from the Mission but I'm sad to report that the pupusas were okay. I ordered the revuelta. There was not a lot of filling and the cheese was runny vs melty. I usually get Salvadoran tamales because I love the flavorful masa and the filling with a potato, an olive and a garbanzo bean. First of all, the masa was dry! And there was only a sliver of potato but no olive and garbanzo bean. And worst of all, no flavor. The tamale didn't even stick together. So disappointing. I'm giving them 3 stars because the Sopa de Res was really good. The beef was tender. The broth was flavorful. And it was filled with veggies and big chunks of beef. Right on!

Love their pupusas revueltas, they also have tasty zucchini pupusas too. One of my favorite places to dine. Their soups are very tasty too.

Pupusas and plátanos are the way to go.....so good Lately they've been busy and the amount of wait staff remains the same. I am unsure if the owner knows or doesn't want to hire more people? I went there on Thursday, all tables were full and there was only a waitress. ONE. I felt bad for her, waited and waited, and eventually left after 15 minutes since I had an appointment. The space is decorative and welcoming.

I have to say, this is my favorite pupusa spot of all time. it has been in the mission since I was a kid and the pupusas still taste the same! very time I come back to town I introduce friends/family to this place. please stay forever!

Just okay. This used to be great, but. now it's just mediocre. The refried beans are way too chunky and they no longer give you enough., Also, only a few bites of rice. Very chintzy. Also missing... the sour cream. for your beans and maduros. The steak was overdone but still good. I'm sad it just isn't very good anymore.

We've been going to Los Panchos for over 37 years. Known Family for those Many years. I can say everything we've ordered has been spot on, their Pupusas are the best I've had In the city. Their Menu has an array of dishes you can choose from. I would rate it higher than 5 Stars. Very friendly staff & owners. Can't wait to order again. My mouth is watering while I write this.

Solía venir a este lugar en mis 20. La comida era buena el servicio malo pero ahora la comida es mala y el servicio peor. Las pupusas sin savor y el relleno nunca lo encontré solo masa el caldo de res no tiene nada de res solo un poco de agua con vegetales y grasa. Muy simple nada de savor ni tan solo un pedazo de yuca. Eh sido chef por 27 años y no soy el tipo de persona que que critica mucho y veo la falta de innovación y evolución de muchos restaurantes por eso los llevan a la quiebra muy mala comida malo todo el concepto. Pienso deberían optar por nuevas ideas. O tal ves nueva cocinera

I've been craving pupusas and decided to try this place out. I ordered delivery and they gave plenty of cabbage and sauce! I usually have to haggle a place for more but this was great! I thought it was going to be much smaller but I ate two and I'm full! I also ordered the super burrito! The horchata was delicious. I recommend giving them a try.

Best pupusas in town. Always cheesy and the perfect texture. Don't sleep on the jalapeño and cheese ones! They just might be the best! Also tried the chile verde which was fabulous. I used to live across the street from here but now I drive down to go back to this restaurant. You just can't beat it.

Get your papusa fix here. Lots of filling choices and the slaw is really good. The other choices are good too

Went today for pick up because Balompie was a longer wait should've just waited.. paid 9.25 for 2 pupusas! Why???? Never again. Been coming here since a kid but not anymore. Sticking to what I know & like Balompie. Pupusas aren't even that good. Also smelt kinda funky inside when I walked in.

So good. The best salsa, chips, and pupusas. I've probably gained 5 pounds eating at this spot. An SF gem.

Was my first time here and I had caldo de res. Wish I took a photo but honestly, it doesn't need it. Everything on the menu looked good, I was stuck between getting the caldo de res or the menudo. If I wasn't on a time crunch for work I would've gotten both of them! The soup is so amazing. It's light, the meat is tender, and the veggies is just the icing on top. My favorite part of the soup is the crunchy cabbage you bite into when eating. I order a side of rice because you can't have soup without rice. The restaurant owner gave us the options of flour or corn tortillas and of course we chose flour. I've worked in the mission/bernal neighborhood for a while now and have never came here. This restaurant is so close to work and the flavors taste like homemade. Almost like my abuelita made it with her own hands! Can't wait to come back and try the menudo and many other dishes. The restaurant owner is super nice and welcoming us!

Amazing place! Simply the best. Papusas melt in your mouth. They make them fresh for each order. Hot Mexican chocolate was really great. Super burrito do carne asada is fantastic. Try this place! You will love it.

Super friendly service :) I crave the Macho Pancho burrito at least once a week. Their papusas are also always a good choice. They used to stay open late, im not sure anymore but WOW i love los panchos. I live on the other side of town and unfortunately theyre not on delivery apps anymore :( Still love you guys!!! Best pupusas ever. Prices are very reasonable. Had the loroco with cheese and the platano with beans. Also tried the hubbys he got revuelta with rice flour. I loved them all. The rice flour makes the pupusas a little chewier but the flavor is so good. One of my new favorites is the platano with beans it was sweet and savory and well balanced with both flavors. Anywhere we can we get fried yucca and chicharron. They were very crispy and soft on the inside. Can't wait to be back.

I have been going to Los Panchos since I was a child and now I'm nearing my 40s. The food has always remained delicious and the employees are very welcoming and nice. On very busy nights, especially after the bars close, they patiently wait on the entire room. Be patient if it's a busy night. It's worth it. I usually order my favorite Los Pancho carne asada meal. I also recommend the pupusas and the nachos which come with actual carne asada pieces. Bring the family! Kid friendly. And if you're heading to El Rio, head here after for dinner

Food is amazing! Service is great! Best pupusas spot ever! Have tried other spots but nothing compares to this amazing place! I recommend trying their homemade ensalada de frutas!
