"Luis Estavillo and Elva Medina, the owners of Los Portales, came to Huatulco from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua in 1987, and brought with them their traditional menudo de panza de res con maíz pozolero, tripe with a large-grain variety of corn served in a pungent broth made from dried red chiles. The restaurant sits in the heart of La Crucecita, just in front of the main park, and offers a beautiful view to match the menu mixed with traditional regional and unique dishes. Tacos al pastor star alongside a pizza al pastor, or alambre — which usually consists of grilled beef topped with chopped bacon, bell peppers, onions, and melted cheese, but the menu offers a variety of them, including a vegetarian one, to accompany a mezcal served in a traditional clay jug. Google
Los Portales was a great, unexpected surprise. The food was excellent, service was prompt and attentive… a rarity in a town where food can take over an hour to come out. Lastly, cleanliness was superb and far better than anything I’ve seen in Huatulco. Recommended!

The crispy fried chicken tacos (the ones served with guacamole) were just ok while the regular chicken& cheese tacos were very tasty. We had an amazing meal for only few dollars. The waiter was not speaking English but there was a very helpful lady around and she was speaking excellent English. I guess she was the owner. I would recommend the place to any hungry traveler. We paid with credit card.

Save your self the headache and eat somewhere else. There is no kind service at all from the OWNER. Service is slow and lacked hospitality. We ordered our food and when it arrived with the owner’s long angry face we kindly asked for another food item and all he did was shake his head and turn around? Its confusing to think that an owner will get upset that a customer is asking to purchase more food. Worst service ever. The owner should consider a different career since he seems so miserable, he brings embarrassment to such a beautiful country.

Recommended by hotel staff. Parking is on the street. Staff was very attentive, food was very good. Prices were fair. Dinner time is very busy and you will NOT get the service as you would during the day. Credit cards are accepted. I highly recommend this local gem

Google
Delicious Al Pastor and the guacamole was very fresh. The staff is friendly although they are a bit “reserved”, perhaps because they don’t speak very much English but the owner speaks good English and is very friendly. Only issue was how they made us feel awkward about leaving a tip. Probably would be best to avoid talking about tips as if they are mandatory. Overall 4/5 stars.

Google
Not impressed. Food is ok. Drinks meh, service poor. Worst souvenir cup of all time.

Google
good vibe at night, great service, and overall good food. very generous food portions and menu options I usually wouldn’t be bothered to write a review but after days of mediocre tasting food I just had to

Yelp
Such good tacos here!! You have to try the pineapple salsa. I had the crispy fish tacos and my husband had the al pastor. I also really liked the skinny mescal Margarita. I even bought the cute mug they are served in. Makes a great souvenir gift.

Yelp

Yelp
Love this place! Very 'old school' - been around for a long time and they take pride in what they do. Very attentive staff. Had the pastor tacos and love especially the multi pico, salsas, pickled onions/peppers served alongside. The grilled plantains (healthy, simple and not overly sweet) or delicious homemade flan for dessert are nice to end the meal with! Nice to watch the street and square in front.

Yelp
All the food was really good, we had the queso fundido de costilla, tlayudas de bistec and tacos de bistec. The place is really busy mostly locals, you know that's when it's good. It's all served with 3 types of salsas. I highly recommend this taco shop.

Yelp
Everything we had here was amazing. The service was great and the prices are even better. It's right on the town square so we even had entertainment. I highly recommend. Good for couples, families, and even solo.
