The 15 Best Nicaraguan Restaurants In Miami

"Long before Brazilian rodizio steakhouses became ubiquitous in Miami, Nicaraguans held down the fort when it came to fancy Latino-style palaces of beef—and none more so than Los Ranchos, which has been a local institution since 1981. The original location on 107th Avenue in Sweetwater (now sadly closed) was not only a place where Miami’s Nicaraguan community could sample a taste of home, but also a community center where refugees displaced by the Sandinista regime discussed their homeland’s politics. Los Ranchos currently has two locations—one in Kendall and another in Coral Gables. The menu includes traditional favorites, like carne asada, as well as more creative dishes, like emerald fish, which is drenched in a creamy spinach sauce." - carlos c olaechea, virginia otazo

Los Ranchos Steakhouse Review - Hialeah - Miami - The Infatuation

"Long before Brazilian rodizio steakhouses became ubiquitous in Miami, Nicaraguans held down the fort when it came to fancy Latino-style palaces of beef - and none more so than Los Ranchos, which has been a local institution since 1981. The original location on 107th Avenue in Sweetwater (now sadly closed) was not only a place where Miami’s Nicaraguan community could sample a taste of home, but also a community center where refugees displaced by the Central American nation’s Sandinista regime discussed their homeland’s politics in addition to their situation in their new city. Los Ranchos currently has three locations throughout Miami, including one at Bayside Marketplace - perhaps the only restaurant worth checking out in this otherwise generic tourist destination. The menu includes traditional favorites, like carne asada, as well as more creative dishes, like Emerald fish, which is drenched in a creamy spinach sauce." - Carlos C Olaechea

Five-Star Review: A Perfect First Communion Celebration at Los Ranchos – Coral Gables We recently celebrated a very special First Communion at Los Ranchos in Coral Gables, and I cannot speak highly enough about the experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism that set the tone for an unforgettable afternoon. The restaurant provided the perfect blend of elegance and comfort, making it an ideal setting for our family gathering. The ambiance was festive yet refined, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate every detail of our event. What truly stood out was the exceptional customer service. The team at Los Ranchos was attentive, courteous, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring everything ran smoothly. From coordinating the seating arrangement to making sure the food arrived promptly and perfectly prepared, their attention to detail was flawless. Our server was incredibly kind and patient, always checking in with a smile and offering thoughtful suggestions from the menu. Speaking of food—the meal was absolutely delicious. The churrasco was perfectly grilled, the gallo pinto was bursting with flavor, and the signature chimichurri was a hit at every table. Everyone—from kids to grandparents—left full and happy. Los Ranchos made an already special day truly memorable. If you're looking for a place to host a celebration or just enjoy a fantastic meal with incredible service, this gem in Coral Gables should be at the top of your list.

I had an amazing experience at Los Ranchos in Coral Gables. The steak was perfectly cooked—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. You can really tell they know how to handle quality meat. The atmosphere is charming, refined, and elegant. Honestly, when you walk in and see how beautiful and upscale the place looks, you’d expect the prices to be much higher. But to my surprise, the prices were excellent—great value for the quality you get. This place truly delivers on both taste and experience. Highly recommended!

Honestly, this restaurant has been a part of the Falls blueprint from as long as I can remember. I came here for an event and did enjoy the food I tried and decided to come back. My mom loves steak so she ordered the churrasco with the gallo pinto. It came with mariquitas and platanitos. It was a lot of food. The steak was delicious. I ordered the pasta with the chicken. The chicken was grilled to perfection. Again, I felt like the portion was huge and definitely had left overs. Both dishes also came with a side salad, so great value for the amount received.

This restaurant is great! Right in the heart of Coral Gables in Ponce de Leon avenue. Food here is amazing and at a very affordable price. Lunch special portions are big, well cooked and super tasty. Great seevice as well! Whenever we have an office lunch with a lot of people we always go here, plenty of space to accomodate big groups. Highly recommended

I dined in and the owner personally came over to recommend the best dish, which I appreciated. I asked if fries could be a side with the steak—he said yes. When I ordered fries from the server, my steak arrived with rice instead. I asked where the fries were, explained the owner had approved the swap, and the server said he’d check. Five minutes later, I was served a side of fries rice drenched in canola/vegetable oil. Actually, the whole plate tasted like Crisco. I requested sour cream—charged $1.50 without warning. I was also charged $5.99 for the fries the owner had said I could have as my side. When I asked to speak to the manager, “Nay,” who could barely speak clear English, was dismissive, refused to adjust the bill, claimed fries are always separate, and wouldn’t even take my receipt or contact info—saying there was “nothing” she could do except “ask the owner.” Complicit and unprofessional “management”. The communication failures, oily, bland food, and lack of basic service were bad enough. But the server then picked up my receipt while I was tipping to check the suggested tip percentages. Miami’s restaurant scene is already a joke, and now I see why this place has bad reviews.

Google
Great food at reasonable prices. I try to come here every nice a week. The churrasco is wonderful when combined with unlimited beans and rice.

Los Ranchos set the standard for Latin steakhouses in Miami 40+ years ago and still is the one of the best. Beautiful new location in Coral Gables, outstanding staff provides top notch service, nice bar, but the food is the true star. Tempting starters are tasty and their famous Churrascos are done to perfection. Don’t miss their executive lunch specials, hard to beat .

Good food if you want to satisfy the Nica cuisine and want steak with gallo pinto and tejada. The tres hit the spot.

Yelp
Experience there is great, good value of food against price. Is a nice decorated restaurant with table service serving Central American food , of course, including rice and beans. Depending on the plate it could be shared for two people but normally portions are enough for one. Service staff is gentle and will assist with food suggestions.

Yelp
First time back since they reopened. The interior remodel, which was much needed, was great! Food didn't disappoint either. My churrasco came with a little less char than I prefer but flavor of my steak and sides were on point. Our server was excellent and very accommodating to our group who had to split the bill into several checks making the service very nice. Glad to see them back in the Gables. Congrats

Yelp
Los Ranchos in Coral Gables certainly knows how to create a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant's decor is inviting and the service was impeccable. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the food. We were incredibly disappointed with our churrasco. It was bland, tough, and served rare when we ordered it medium. The accompanying Nicaraguan gallo pinto was equally underwhelming, lacking flavor and served lukewarm. It's a shame, as the potential for a great meal was clearly there. While the staff was attentive and friendly, the kitchen is in desperate need of a new chef. With such a promising setting and service, it's baffling how the food could be so lackluster.

Yelp
Excited to have this classic in Coral Gables now! Though it hasn't been open long, you can't tell based on how great the service and overall experience are. The food is delicious as always - there's nothing more comforting than their baby churrasco with gallo pinto and maduros. The location is nice for a business lunch but also has a nice familial ambiance. Will definitely be a regular at this location.

Yelp
Today Saturday 3:30 pm went back to Los Ranchos. We were greeted by the manager and seated immediately in the side section tables I believe are # 60 and 70. I was busy in conversation and did not hear our servers name when she greeted us I believe she said Yvonne. Her service was excellent and food was excellent. Once again we ordered the Austin Hope. However, this time I had to advise the manager that the wine temperature was above normal it was warm. The manager was kind enough to bring an ice bucket. Once the wine temperature dropped it was more pleasantly tasting. I noticed where the wine bottles are stored is more like an enclosed cabinet with lights that creates heat and the cabinet is not temperature controlled. We also go to Los Ranchos in the Falls. The wine there is stored in a temperature control store much better tasting there due to the wine served at an excellent temperature.

Yelp
This is my family's second time visiting this Los Ranchos location, and it was great once again! The service was amazing! The manager, owner, and our servers were super nice and attentive. The food came out fast, even though we were a party of six in total. For an appetizer, we got two orders of the Tostones Nicas, which were very tasty and cheesy. Also, the house salads that come with the entrees are soo good (they bring a pile of cheese!). Everyone ordered a Surf & Turf beside me; I got the Salmon Churrasco. They loved their steak; it was a good portion, and cooked to perfection. They also enjoyed the shrimp that came with it. And as for my salmon, it was very good, cooked perfectly, and very fresh. On top of that, even though the air conditioner was unfortunately broken, the experience was still great! The owner even went out of his way to apologize to us and give us a discount for the next time we come :) Overall an amazing experience and great service!

Yelp
I was looking forward to enjoying dinner here with my parents. The restaurant's decor is great and the service was too but the food was quite disappointing. As an appetizer, we decided to share the queso fundido with chorizo. This was the most underwhelming queso fundido we've ever had. Apparently, they slid the ceramic dish under the broiler to brown the cheese on top but didn't fully melt the cheese. You could still see the unmelted strands of shredded cheese. No cheese pulls happening here and it was served with bread. No tortillas for queso fundido?! We ordered 3 signature churrascos which came with a house salad. The house salads came with a slice of tomato, raw onion, and lettuce. One salad was needing more salad dressing requiring us to order additional vinaigrette dressing. Then our steaks came out: two Baby Churrasco's medium well that were dry and unseasoned and one Churrasco Los Ranchos medium rare that was juicy but unseasoned. They came with gallo pinto and crispy and sweet plantains. The steaks were so dry that the chimichurri sauce was essential to enjoying them. The gallo pinto was also dry and flavorless. The most enjoyable part were the sweet plantains. After these terrible dishes, we did not want to risk ordering dessert so we skipped it.

Yelp
This Los Ranchos location just recently "soft opened" within the past few days and according to the staff, they'll be having a grand opening sometime next month. I'm also told this restaurant is actually returning to this location just off the large Ponce de Leon roundabout in Coral Gables, as they used to be located in this same building years ago. After closing their location at Bayside Marketplace during the pandemic and their restaurant in Hialeah more recently, Los Ranchos now has 2 remaining restaurants - This new one in the Gables, and the other at The Falls. First impressions of this Coral Gables location are really good. I'd been to their Bayside location many times for both lunch and dinner (and have missed it since it closed) and we'd also gone to their restaurant at The Falls and in my opinion this new eatery beats both those others. It's nicely decorated and a bit fancier, yet not overdone. One can sit at the bar, at a number of tables with chairs or couch seating, or at outdoor tables on the patio in front. Two areas of the main dining space can be sectioned off for larger private events if necessary and they have 1/2 dozen TVs scattered throughout the place. Best of all, the food is exactly as I remembered - flavorful, plentiful yet also affordable. I had the baby churrasco which was an 8 ounce center cut grilled tenderloin, served with a salad, garlic bread, gallo pinto, sweet plantains and plantain chips; A really filling meal for $26. Los Ranchos has a lot of competition in Coral Gables for steak. Just from memory I can think of 1/2 dozen other steak places on or near Miracle Mile, yet I think this restaurant will do well considering both their name recognition and menu prices that few other steakhouses in this area can match - especially considering the quality and everything your meal here comes with (vs some other restaurants where salad and sides aren't included with the steak and need to be ordered separately for an additional price). I wish this newest Los Ranchos well; We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We love this place. We go here often. Food and service are amazing! Our favorite is the Surf and Turf. The kids menu is also great!

Yelp
Went to have dinner there today around 4 pm and really wasn't to many people there maybe a couple and that's it, , lady brought me water and then i had to walk out as no one came to take my order after about 15 to 20 min, i usually go there as i work near by, but never again.

Yelp
Not bad!. Food was great! The tres leche was to die for. What I didn't like is that after all the plate were finished there was always someone coming to clear the tables. Constantly coming to the table to ask if you need anything. It almost seem as they are trying to rush you out, to eat quick and get out and I was not a fan.

Francis R.

Yelp
The restaurant is supposed to serve a "Nicaraguan" menu but I don't recall "French Onion Soup" being part of our cuisine. The white rice had a microwaved taste, the spinach sauce for the emerald fish was not good or tasty at all. Ordered a churrasco and was given to us rare even though we asked medium well. The ambience could have been better as we were seated next to a large group of people and was difficult to have a conversation within our table. Save your money and appetite for a better restaurant!

Yelp
I have been going to Los Ranchos since it originally opened in the early 80's and they were always consistent with the quality and special flavor of their steaks. Today I tried this new location and I can honestly say that it should not bear the same name , we ordered 3 Presidente Churrascos ($55.00 ea) and not only were they overcooked they were not as tender and didn't have the same flavor. The Gallo Pinto was also flavorless and cold. The only thing that was ok was the queso fundido even though the flour tortillas were hard and obviously reheated. The place is very nice looking inside but the service is terrible and our waiter was pretty clueless about everything. Even though we expressed our disappointment to the waiter the manager didn't even bother to visit the table to ask us about our experience. This place is a NTR ( never to return ) restaurant.

Yelp
The Coral Gables Los Ranchos location is a fantastic addition to our neighborhood. I have always enjoyed the food at Los Ranchos' various locations, from tenderloin churrascos and flavorful gallo pinto to properly textured, moist tres leches and the best chimichurri I've ever had. (When I moved away from Miami for a few years, I used to buy the chimichurri in bulk and freeze it). The Coral Gables location elevates the traditional Los Ranchos experience in several ways: 1. The restaurant boasts a modern design, using materials like backlit stone and bricks to create a sophisticated yet comfortable ambiance. 2. The service is excellent. My glass was refilled before it was ever empty, and any requests were promptly addressed. We had a wonderful conversation with Lisa, the operations supervisor and GM, who made us feel truly welcome. 3. The team pays attention to small details. Salad plates are chilled, condiments are served in attractive metal bowls instead of plastic containers, and bread refills are proactively offered. While I always go for the churrasco, I've sampled other items thanks to my dining companions, including the queso fundido and fajitas, all of which were excellent. Don't hesitate to visit this Los Ranchos location - it stands out in a neighborhood already known for great dining options!

Yelp
Excellent tasting traditional varied Nicaraguan food, service & ambiance in a brand new building. The sangria is one of top 3 in area, meats are grilled we had the chicken churrasco it was slightly salty, desserts 3 leches is sweet & recommended. Parking is adequate. All entrees are served with salad, gallo pinto rice, fried green plantain (mariquitas) & sweet banana (maduros) you can also ask for seconds no charge.

Yelp
Tried this new Los Ranchos location for dinner on a Friday. We were seated right away by the bar, and our server Zuleyma was very attentive, her customer service is excellent! Our order didn't take long, the food was tasty and the meat cooked as requested. The manager was also attentive, she came over twice and checked how the service was going. The restaurant decor is modern and it has an a nice ambiance, they had a DJ playing Spanish music and it wasn't loud so it allowed for comfortable conversation. They also offer outside seating and valet parking is available. Will be returning to this location.

Yelp
We went to rent a meeting room at the Coral Gables Location, but the manager was very rude and unprofessional.

Yelp
Always one of our favorite go to steak, charassco restaurants at the falls. Great food casual dining with indoor and outdoors dining available. We love the unlimited sides available served table side. Try it yourself you'll be impressed.

Yelp
Food is good the most unprofessional and rude Valet drivers I have ever seen. Very disrespectful and disappointing that this establishment would have people like that working the Valet. Not coming back.

Yelp
Excelente servicio, buen ambiente, bonita decoración, la comida buena, no excelente, deberían talvez agregar otros platos. Recomendaría, si, definitivamente

Ronald R.

Yelp
We live in the Gables and have given this spot several tries but the service and food is subpar. We drive a bit out of the way to El Novillo on Bird Rd for the better food and service!!

Yelp
Went for lunch . Service was great and food was very good . The restaurant is very nice.

Nelson C.

Yelp
Overpriced and not authentic Nica food, how do you have a Nicaraguan cuisine and not have any Cacao or typical drinks? Location is more interested and focused on selling you their extensive wine collection. The food in both selection and flavor has taken a back seat. If you are looking for cocktails and wine, this is the place for you.

Nancy R.

Yelp
Last week we had a graduation dinner party of 30 people in their semi private room. We had an excellent experience. Neri was attentive with the reservation and details. The room was ready when we arrived and the service staff professional and accommodating. The food is always delicious and portions are generous. Package included a variety of entrees as well as drinks and dessert. This Gables location has a modern design and elegant vibe. Highly recommend.

Ana P.

Yelp
I ordered meat gallo pinto and a salad , the meat was kind of hard , but the salad was totally unacceptable , nasty and disgusting , i called and speak with a manager and he was so"nice" that he give me a credit of the salad, i'll never come back

Yelp
Great new location for a Miami classic. The food was great as all their locations with a very nice bar area. Our service was very efficient and professional.

Yelp
Glad Los Ranchos reopened near us in Coral Gables. To be completely honest, it's not the best Nicaragüense food but it's good, nice ambiance and close by. Our server was a bit dry. If in the mood for Nicaragüense food and don't feel like driving far, we will return. I'm being slightly generous with a 4 star but 1/2 is not an option. 3 1/2 stars would be more accurate. Hopefully they will earn the other half or better yet complete star the next time we go. Stay tuned.

Lisette V.

Yelp
The new construction gave this place the facelift it needed. Food was good. Service was excellent.

Miriam E C.

Yelp
One star because I am comparing to Los ranchos at The Falls. The food was not good and cold I asked for medium rare and got well done churrasco and tasteless. The rice tasted like box rice specifically the white rice. The drinks we had to send them back. The location is great the restaurant is beautiful and well decorated but sadly I don't recommend it

Isabel A.

Yelp
Very good food. Lovely restaurant. Denise at the bar took care of us. She was awesome! We will go back. It's 3 minutes from our home.

Neisy J.

Yelp
I have been going to every Los Ranchos in town since the 80s, the best service ever, I have been to many fine restaurants in my life and I can tell you I have never seen the service that Los Ranchos provides to every customer in any other restaurant. The food is great, I am so happy they have re-opened this restaurant in the Gables again. I remember going to the Los Ranchos in Bayside for every celebration we had in our family, I also would go during the weekdays with my best friend and my sister for lunch, loved the music with Mr. Mata singing and playing the guitar. I remember several waiters like Anibal, Rafael, Marco, Miguel, and Alex at the bar, and Abraham who I found out passed away. I am meeting my best friend Sonia at Los Ranchos in two weeks to reminisce and have a good time. I am sure I will not be disappointed.
