Yelp
It has the best ambiance and bar for a Mexican restaurant in Chalfont, but you can definitely find better, authentic Mexican food 10 minutes away if you prefer taste over anything else.
Pros
- Skinny margaritas; I haven't been able to find this anywhere in the NW Philly burbs yet, so I was thrilled, and they make it with Patron, so kuddos!
- Food quality; The entrees are served hot, fresh, and with an abundance of flavor. We both opted for the sizzling fajitas with chicken and beef, all of which came with plenty of peppers and grilled pineapple. YUM! The taste was impeccable on these dishes. I'm glad we were given the option of corn or flour tortillas as well as a yummy red salsa on the side!
- Complimentary chips and bean sauce upfront; The bean sauce was melted on top of a small bowl of chips for the two of us to share, which tasted ok, but nothing special. It's a Pro because we were starving and it helped hold us over until entree time!
- Good menu selection; They offer a variety of soups, salads, appetizers, entrees, alcoholic beverages, and more which all cover your Mexican basics.
- Our waitress was very friendly, but a bit slow considering there were only two other tables occupied on a Thursday evening around 5:30pm. I think she was acting as hostess, waitress, and serving bar drinks.
- They have a good size outdoor seating area, which is nice considering the lack of patio options in town!
- Ambiance: You definitely have the authentic Mexican feel here with the Spanish floor tile and wall decor. Nothing is fake or touristy about it, so it sets the mood well!
Cons
- High prices and portions; Entrees were $16-$20 which is very high for Mexican food, especially considering our entrees didn't even come with beans and rice like sizzling fajitas usually do at restaurants. Plus, the portions are just average. While mine was enough for me after an appetizer, my fiance finished his plate and still could have eaten a bit more, so you're not paying for generous portions either. However, considering the lack of other good options nearby, they can get away with it.
- No free chips and salsa (like everywhere else around here). I don't understand this lack of concept as chips and salsa are cheap and plentiful. Plus, the red salsa they served with our fajitas was AWESOME and would be perfect with chips.
- Guacamole had too much lime in it. If you like lime, this probably isn't a Con. However, guac without lime tastes fresher. Guac doesn't turn brown immediately, so when you're consuming it upon delivery, the lime just isn't necessary.
If you want a quiet dinner, I would avoid this place at prime time. Even with just a few tables occupied while we dined, our voices carried far like an echo, so we had to talk softly for privacy, and I can imagine it's extremely loud with a full crowd. It's a great option if you live in Chalfont and don't want to drive far, but definitely worth trying other places!
