"Beer lovers will want to plan a visit to this local tasting room and brewery located just west of Middleburg. It’s consistently one of the top-rated breweries in Northern Virginia, best known for signature brews like Tangerine Imperial IPA, Farm Ale, and Capon Springs Golden Lager. Unlike many other breweries, Lost Barrel also offers a hefty number of Virginia wines and craft cocktails to try. Plus, the food menu is the main draw at lunch with sandwiches, flatbreads, and shareable appetizers, including soft pretzels." - Tim Ebner, Kalina Newman

This brewery has the best food and drinks. The staff was so kindhearted. The live music was terrific. I would recommend

We had a group of about 50 with reservations for a fire pit and the loft on a hike and outing from the Salamander this Saturday. We were extremely appreciative of Bobby keeping an eye out for our arrival and starting our food order so it was delivered to the loft within minutes of our arrival. Elizabeth was quick to get the thirsty hikers pitchers of beer. Our stay was very short, perhaps 90 minutes, but we were very well taken care of. The beer was excellent and the appetizers tasty. Thanks very much! P.S. Loved the Cinnamon Dolce Porter!

I hosted my birthday party in the Saloon this past weekend. We had an amazing afternoon!!! Natalie helped me coordinate and schedule my event. I was able to place a food order for my friends and family in advance. We had a fantastic experience and would recommend everyone to host their events there. Leo and the other staff did great job serving and making sure our needs were met. Thank you Lost Barrel for the fun birthday! Looking forward to visiting again!!

Google
Venue is the best thing about it. I had a College girls weekend getaway in February of 2025 and 6 of us went for Burgers and a beer. Beers are good. Don't get the Burger. It was surprisingly bad. Cooked to death and had no flavor. They don't cook the meat to order. Has to be "cooked thru". Should have know better when she said that.

Google
We were looking for something different to do last weekend so we rented a fire pit here. The staff was SO nice! They were really concerned that we liked our drinks and food. Several staff members checked in on us. They had live music. Food was delicious. They just stared serving Aperol Spritz's and they were really good. Fun spot for a day with friends.

Google
Our Holiday Staff Party was hosted at Lost Barrel, and it was an incredible experience. The food was fantastic, the drinks were cold and delicious, and the venue was perfect for our group, offering a great mix of indoor and outdoor spaces. The fire pit was a hit, providing a cozy spot to roast s'mores and relax, while the large outdoor table was ideal for games and gathering together. Most importantly, the service was outstanding, from the planning to stage and especially from Leo—he was engaging, friendly, helpful, and fun. We truly appreciated the wonderful time and the memorable holiday staff party.

Lost Barrel Brewing is amazing! Came here with my husband to enjoy an evening of brews and views and it did not disappoint. The location is on a sprawling horse farm and provides plenty of space to relax outdoors by a fire pit or picnic table or inside near the bar or couches by the fireplace. The beer selection is fantastic. They also offer slushies, wine, some cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks; so anyone should be satisfied by the selection. We enjoyed the dark beer options and brought home a mixed 6-pack to try other varieties. My dogs even liked the cookies. Thanks for a great experience. We will be back!

Yelp
NOTE: This is not walkable from downtown Middleburg - it looks it if you put it into Google maps, but it is a fairly fast with no shoulder road you have to walk along. Beers were pretty decent. I really enjoyed the Toasted Lager, Helles and Irish Red -- I am a more traditional beer drinker. But they have a huge selection from dark and toasty to fruited to IPA. I think you would easily find at least one beer here that everyone in your party would enjoy! PLUS - food is pretty good. It's not gourmet, but it is a cut-above some other local breweries for sure. I wasn't overly hungry so I had the chicken and lemongrass potstickers, which were extremely tasty... really enjoyed :) The atmosphere is great and there are lots of tables inside and outside. I think you might need to reserve special outdoor seating around fire pits, etc., but there is a significant number of first come, first server tables as well. We were a part of 8 in the middle of the afternoon and had no issue finding a table on a sunny Saturday. Their outdoor area is expansive and family and pet friendly too. Be on a look out for their various events and vendors on their website to see what else to check out while you are enjoying the brews.

Yelp
Nice, large, outside area with lots of seating. The menu is fairly large, food and drinks. Do wish there were a few more darker beers. Service was nice, quick. We were in a group of about 15 or so, with 2 babies and 2 toddlers and we had an area inside that accommodated us well

Robert A.

Yelp
Very nice place to visit with plenty of parking. The inside is very clean and well laid out with lots of seating. The outside is so inviting whether under the porch or out in the grass. They have a good selection of drinks to choose from and the service is great.

Yelp
We have been coming here for 2 years. I used to love the froze flight over the summer & the cozy fireplace in the winter. This service isn't great as other reviews have said. But even worse, the owner(?) is incredibly rude. I can deal with slow waiters that are learning teens. I've always found them to be nice despite the bumpy service. But the owner/manager (heavy set guy often at the register) has zero hospitality training or people skills. He is aggressive & nasty every time we go. After taking the abuse as par for the course of Lost Barrel, we sort of all looked at each other one day and were like why do we still come here? There are way too many options in Loudoun County to put up with his crap.

Yelp
We were on a surprise trip to Middleburg and this was a recommended stop because it's dog friendly and it really did not disappoint! There were plenty tables outside and inside and the QR codes made it super easy to order food when sitting outside! Really loved the whole concept of this place and the food was delicious too, we got pork nachos and the hush puppies!

Sharyn L.

Yelp
Beer was okay. The best was the farm ale. The oatmeal stout was drinkable but not great, the cucumber lime hefeweizen was too odd for me, the toasted lager was bland, and the lost barrel lager had no flavor. The food was entirely unremarkable. My husband got the buffalo chicken wrap and I got the chicken skewer appetizer. The best part of the meal was the cilantro cumin slaw. The service was friendly, the patio was dog friendly, and the ambiance was lovely, but it wasn't enough to compensate for the $8.50 pints and the $14 appetizer.

Yelp
Still our favorite Virginia brewery! We visit 2 or 3 times a year from Austin Texas area and continue to enjoy the beer and fire pits. We always have a gas fire pit area for our family which gives us 3 hours to enjoy the brews, food and walking the dogs and grandson around the property. The food was as good as always and Josh, our several time server was still there and may have remembered us. It was fun to enjoy aps to watch the UT game, great job Horns!! and the US vs. England World Cup game. What more could a family ask. The place really got busy and Josh seemed stretched out but we will definitely be back. Love you guys!

Simon W.

Yelp
Very good beer. Surprisingly great food! Check out the chicken tenders. Loads of space to spread out on a summer afternoon. It's a bit out there, but sooo worth the trip

Yelp
I reserved the Saloon for a birthday celebration for 15 friends (but it's quite spacious and would easily fir more). The reservation process was easy and efficient via email. I liked that I was able to bring my own cake. The staff was very friendly! The menu has a lot of variety of foods and the drink menu included everything from beer, hard seltzers, wines, etc. I liked that it has a diverse menu for my non drinking friends. The ambiance was family friendly on the Friday night that we attended. I definitely Olán to return again and highly recommend this brewery! Quality drinks and food with great staff. Five stars without a doubt!

Paul D.

Yelp
Great time here. The beer and drink menu is impressive. Lots to choose from. Service and staff are always hustling and very helpful. Your food or beer will come out fast. Lots of indoor and outdoor places to enjoy here.

Yelp
My best friend had her informal East Coast family wedding reception here and we were able to spend the late afternoon/evening at this lovely place. I'm not going to lie, there were some issues, minor and fairly major. It was her experience, so I don't want to go into too much detail but they could learn a lot more about hosting large events. If you are planning to have an event here, make sure that your ducks are in a row, so that when problems arise, they don't blame you. We tried quite a few beers, wines and other cocktails, along with sodas. We also had a huge spread of food. The Spinach Feta hummus is outstanding, as well as the chicken tenders. I very much liked the pretzels and that IPA pimento cheese sauce. The Caesar salad looked good but they didn't give us any dressing so no one ate it. There was also a pasta salad that desperately needed salt and flatbreads that were ok. As for beer, most of it was really good but that Toasted Lager... I could drink that all day, every day and be happy. It was really good. We also did a firepit with smores. The firepit they set-up for us was the one farthest away from the private event space (this was one of the problems of the night.) and the set-up was a bit odd but overall, the kids loved it and what more can you ask for than that?

Valeria A.

Yelp
The wait staff was average (the young man in the George Pickens jersey was friendly though); greeters at the main tap room well below average. I'm absolutely confident no one spoke to a single person in my group when we entered the bldg. - just glared. The ambience was nice, the wine was nice but the food might actually be the worst I've ever eaten - and that's starters, entrees and desserts - across the board no taste, no flavor, no impact on the pallet.

Yelp
My neighbors, friends and I come here often. Nice atmosphere. But I guess Lost Barrel likes wasting money on plastic cups and polluting the ocean and landfills with TONS of plastic each and every day. They don't even have any recycling bins in this place. Why? Because the owner doesn't want to spend the money, I guess, even though this place is clearly doing well financially. If the owner is worried about people walking off with reusable cups or glass, why not just require a $1 deposit so people don't take them? Or if they do, I'm sure the reusable cups don't cost more than $1. It's 2024. Wake up and look around. Do your part.

Yelp
Great food, beers and seating area! The brewery is a fairly new space with tons of seating options both inside and outside. There are fire pits and corn hole. Great to come after work for a drink and sit outside or come for a couple hours on the weekend. They also have a good amount of frozen cocktails to cool you down when the weather starts heating up!

Cici C.

Yelp
Service is the absolute best! Ambiance by the fire was so welcoming and cozy while we enjoyed bacon wrapped yummies with red Irish brews.

laura g.

Yelp
The beer is decent and we enjoyed the music. We literally had to retrieve our own nachos sitting cold on the bar. The food leaves a lot to be desired. Worst nachos we've ever had. Toppings were incredibly light and tasteless. Reminded us of a school cafeteria entree. If you want good brewery food head to Lark. It's much better.

Bella J.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place. We came on a nice warm day and sat outside, which their patio/outdoor space is amazing with fire pits and giant tables. 1. Drinks/beer: good I wanted to be adventurous and tried their BEER-MOSA. It is great. I loved it. I never had beermosa before, only mimosa. Very refreshing especially on that warm day it was great. 2. Food: okay They are that great but I love they have food options to begin with. 3. Service: You order and pick up yourself, no table service. Straightforward and efficient. 4. Ambience: like a lodge and cabin in the woods feel, rather classy and welcoming.

Eric W.

Yelp
I stopped by to enjoy some relaxed time. I wanted a quick snack so I had some of their fries. They are spiral shaped and fit well with the sauce they come with. If it's nice out, then going outside to the fireplaces is a great way to enjoy the weather. It's nice and peaceful. Overall, this place is great.

Yelp
We were in town visiting friends and made the drive to this brewery. We love to brewery hop and this is one of our friends favorite places. The grounds were beautiful! The fire pits and private saloon that we rented for our party was pretty cool. We ordered the veggie burger and the Buffalo chicken wrap. Both were really good! The live band was a nice touch for a Friday night. Only reason for a 4 instead of a 5 was due to their beer selection. Their hazy wasn't exactly a standard hazy. In fact, the sunset whit looked more like a hazy. The nitro stout was delicious! If we're ever back in town, we'll be paying the place a visit to check out what the updated seasonal menu looks like.

Chathu K.

Yelp
We love this place.. great beer, good food and service! Not very crowded and kids have plenty of space to run and play!

Yelp
First time coming here . Great place a lot of parking . The staff was great . The food was two thumbs up I really enjoyed the Hummus . I am not a beer or alcohol drinker so I went with two Mock-tails . The Mock-tails were ok but it quenched my thirst. The Ambiance of the place was nice and cozy . Also they have horses that are on the side of the venue. Come to find out they are a working farm. I would come back if I was in a big group.

Yelp
Found this gem right off of Route 50! A beautifully created brewery for a more intimate setting with a easily accessible parking lot. Perfect for a date or party of 8-10 people or less. I believe you can reserve for a big event here, but I didn't look into that. There are options of sitting inside or outside, the tables around the back patio have heat. There are a few fire pits out back, but reservations must be made for them! Service was quick, efficient, friendly, and timely! Our food was ready in about 15 minutes of ordering, and in that time, we browsed the shop up front and enjoyed the live music, band name: Summer of Georgia Band. The food was very tasty and delicious. The pretzels were the perfect size, and there was the option of Warmed IPA Beer Cheese or Pimento Cheese. We went with the IPA Beer Cheese, so good! Also, the pepperoni flatbread was perfect. The dough was such a nice consistency, and there was more pepperoni under the cheese which is a win for those of us who love lots of pepperoni! Lastly, the cookie was the perfect temperature with the chocolate chips being gooey and melted!! Overall, we were very pleased with our experience and we will be back soon! P.s. The restrooms were very clean and stocked!

Yelp
Lots to like with this new brewery and they are just getting started. Very nice short selection of brews and food. We tried the oatmeal stout, the IPA, and the pale ale. The Stout (bitter and toasty) and IPA (hoppy but not like pine risen) were excellent. The pale ale was a good reddish malt ale, but not as good as the Stout and IPA. We got to go crowlers of the stout and the IPA. Food wise we tried the wings and the mac and cheese. The wings were perfectly crispy and had this great tangy dry rub + a gorgonzola sauce. The mac was super tasty, but the pasta was a little overcooked. There are several other interesting options. Check out the menu here https://lostbarrel.com/food/ It a nice and large property, with lots of options to be outside. The inside is rustic with plenty of room for distancing. The service was excellent and there's lots of parking. You can do online orders for pickup at https://www.toasttab.com/lostbarrelbrew/v3 We will be back for sure. This is a great add to the options in Middleburg!

Yelp
I'm going to go with 5 stars because it looks like this place has everything I want. This is a newer brewery, open only 7 weeks when I visited. They don't yet (and may never adopt) a particular 'style'. So far, nothing they have on tap is guaranteed to stay on beyond its current production run. If it sells well, they may keep it! The most important part of course is good beer, and that I was very happy with. They have chose-it-yourself flights, and I went with these four. Farm Ale - Light, refreshing, low hops, Belgian-style Oatmeal Stout - basically everything a stout should be! Session- not a fan; too much hops Farm Light- interesting. Undecided if I liked it but worth a shot. The inside was spacious and modern-looking. Lots of space on the outside as well. They even have a 'special event's building, that looks great for birthdays and such.

Ed S.

Yelp
Our second time here. Sat outside in the shade in adirondeck chairs. A small tree stump serves as your table. Ordering is easy. Just scan the QR code and they deliver right to your tree stump. Both times they've had live music. The first time, the band faced outside to the lawn seating. That was good. This time the band faced inside which was odd because it was too loud to sit inside so eventually the band was playing to an empty inside and all patrons were outside. That's ok, the sound was still good outside. Beer was very good. Pizza wasn't great. Chicken fingers were good. Wait staff was charming.

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Another good brewery in the area. I ordered the New England IPA but they didn't have any of that available anymore. I got the Tangerine IPA and wow it was very good. Then I tried the lager which was also good. My wife had a seltzer which was good as well. We had food here, and I had a burger which was good as well. The place inside is large, when we arrived, pick where you want to sit, and order at the front desk. Everyone was helpful and nice. This place has a cool setup outside of what the brewery looks like.

Neal E.

Yelp
Visited Lost Barrel Brewing today for the first time. Lots of parking, gorgeous brand new building and grounds - with lots of seating inside and outside. There is also a kitchen on-site - so there are food options. I was solo this time around - I noted the menu had approximately 19 beers - but I could not stay long - so I ordered a single tasting flight - which contained 4 beers: New England Hazy IPA (7.0% ABV) (2.25 stars on Untappd) Amarillo Pale Ale (4.7% ABV) (4 stars on Untappd) Tangerine Imperial IPA (9.0% ABV) (3 stars on Untappd) Double IPA (8.6% ABV) (4 stars on Untappd) Lost Barrel allegedly accepts Apple Pay for payment - but they could not get either of their POS stations to work when I visited - and they could barely get the POS station to accept a physical credit card, so not sure what was going on with that. Beers were enjoyable - with the exception of the NE Hazy IPA - just not a fan of the style. I keep trying them, hoping that someone will make one that appeals to my palate - but it hasn't happened yet. Both the Tangerine Imperial IPA and Double IPA are high octane ABV wise - but they were well executed from the standpoint that the alcohol content does not make itself known from a flavor perspective. Staff was very nice. Looking forward to another visit with a group of friends. #LostBarrelBrewing

Yelp
Stopped by ok a road trip and it was Outstanding. All the beers were tried (flight) were good. The cucumber lemon wheat was an interesting twist and we ended up taking a 6 pack to go. Burger with lots of pickles cheese and their special sauce can compete with the best. Pretzels with pimento and mustard also top notch. The ordering system was easy peasy and food and drinks came super quick. Only wish we lived close.

Jenn M.

Yelp
Fun ambience. Huge menu/selection of beverages. Helpful staff. Large enough venue to be family friendly.

Kate M.

Yelp
Had the most absurd interaction at this place. We love the vibe and drinks but this one employee has ruined our experience forever. We walked in around 6pm on a Saturday and the front hostess told us any seating is first come first serve. We ordered drinks at the bar and went out back. We found some adarondak chairs and sat down. We went back inside to order our next drink and the woman behind the bar said to look for a QR code near our chairs if we wanted to order table side service. Great, we thought! We found a stump with a taped down QR code like 3 feet away from us. Great, again! So we ordered a bunch of apps and some more drinks. When the server brought them out, we got more than we bargained for. The general manager chewed us out for sitting there without paying for the space and then explained that we can't use the nearby QR code without paying. We offered to pay for the space and got yelled at again by the same guy saying it's not about the money. We were so confused and this general manager was not helpful or hospitable towards us. We won't be going back.

Dave S.

Yelp
This brewery has become my new favorite brewery in Va.. The beer is excellent with many to choose from. The inside and outside seating areas are awesome. The food, the food is excellent! I also love the app on the phone for ordering. Order, pay and it comes to you. I just love the whole experience.

Ekaterina P.

Yelp
This place is a Hidden gem hands down. It has great selection for beer, wine and food. Best food for a brewery! We been to at least 15-20, and this place offers food that is not just hot dogs or pizza. But everything is tasty, even a chaser salad had a different twist to it. We loved the fire pits. Each location has an order bar code , so you order from a phone , whatever you need and when You need. It's so convenient that you don't need to wait on a waiter to place an order. We hosted a party in their private studios, and the server and service was superb. We Definitely will be back! This location is kids and dogs friendly!

Michael P.

Yelp
Been here a couple times now and have enjoyed each visit. There is a wide selection of drinks, but not as many beer selections as I would have hoped. My wife and daughter enjoyed the wide selection of frozen drinks and ciders/seltzers. Be advised, this establishment caters to families, so young children are running about. Doesn't seem to be a problem in most cases, but if you're looking for a quiet place to grab a drink, this is decidedly NOT that place. Quite loud and limited menu options.

Todd F.

Yelp
Had a really nice time visiting this place on Father's Day, good beer, good food, good vibe. I took off a star from my review because the hostess didn't let us sit at the fire pit that our friend reserved because our friend wasn't there. Half hour later we asked again and she let us sit down--only later did I learn our friend paid for the fire pit reservation--had we known we were being charged to sit there we would have insisted to be seated regardless of where our friend was. I hope they do a better job training the staff to avoid this in the future -- and I hope the wait staff forgives the hostess because they lost a pitcher of beer by making us wait! (but overall a good time was had by all!)

Doug W.

Yelp
We celebrated my wife's 70th birthday at LBB and it was perfect. We reserved one of the private venues the Loft and it exceeded my expectations. We had both access to indoors ( with a private bathroom) and an outdoor deck. With the deck we were removed from the fray but could watch all the kids playing games below. The staff was excellent, accommodating, and prompt. We had maybe 20 people and had a great time. I highly recommend Lost Barrel for your next celebration.

Daralyn A.

Yelp
A HUGE thank you to Lost Barrel Brewing in Middleburg, VA for making my husbands surprise retirement party so successful! Nothing but outstanding guidance and service from start to finish. The venue offers a spectacular setting with a variety of delicious food and beer. And the live entertainment was also so good! Thank you again so much! We'll be back!

Matt S.

Yelp
Oooh man... wanted to love this place for so many reasons. But, don't be blinded by this Middleburg Mirage. Lost Barrel fails to fill you up and leave you satisfied with its paltry portions and characterless craft beers. If you are seeking a showy, beautifully decorated, and COVID compliant spot, you'll be floored. Lost Barrel is as aesthetically pleasing a brewery as I've visited recently. The vibe and presentation compliment the Middleburg scene and make you forget you're only 45 minutes from DC. Yet what the establishment provides in appearances, it lacks severely in delivery. The food portions were painfully small, and the wings especially left us feeling terribly underwhelmed. Imagine your skin at the beach with sand all over and that's the manner which the wings tasted. The beers were also off and tasted flat; still appreciate the effort for interesting flavors. I offer this critique not to be trollish; rather with hopes Lost Barrel can assess and it grows. The place is a visual gold mine, but your stomach might feel as if it was fooled.

Jessica G.

Yelp
I've been twice now and both times I've been happy with my experiences. The beer is delicious (light lager and the oatmeal stout - yummy), great food menu (garlic parmesan crispy chicken tenders are the best) Very dog friendly + the staff is wonderful.

Kate R.

Yelp
Super tasty beers and super friendly staff. We reserved one of the firepits and despite it being freezing cold out, we stayed toasty and had a blast. This was our 2nd visit. First time was right after they opened (during covid) and we were really impressed with their commitment to cleanliness. Will continue to drive the hour to visit - its worth it! Cheers!

Hillary S.

Yelp
Service was quick, food was delicious. The only negative was the music was a little too loud to be able to hold a conversation.

Fred T.

Yelp
The place is very pleasant. The beer was good. I had the gamy and it was so over cooked and dried out. Seems liked it was cooked earlier and the reheated. The pretzel and flat breads were good

Elaine R.

Yelp
Spent Father's Day at Lost Barrel Brewing and had the most incredible time! Josh was our server (and has been before). He treated us like we were his only customer with so much attention to detail and making sure we had everything we needed. The fire-pit was amazing and watching all the families enjoying the music with their children warmed my heart. The food was very good, especially the burger! Enjoyed the champagne and the beer so much. Did some shopping at the boutique inside and Heather was so helpful in making selections. Great boutique. Josh and Tristan were amazing servers and Kristin, behind the bar, was excellent! Very friendly staff and gorgeous brewery! Going to be a Father's Day tradition and many visits in between.

James W.

Yelp
3/5, September 2021. We stopped here with some friends for dinner and drinks. The food good and the beer was decent if nothing special. The ordering system and service was excellent. You can order food, pints, and flights from your table and it's delivered to you in a pretty reasonable time given how busy they were. Given the tools and facilities they have invested I think this place will likely continue to improve over time. If they follow the path they appear to be on they will likely be in for a great future. They are poised to spring from good to great.

Melanie L.

Yelp
We stayed at the Salamander for a Board retreat with a group of executives. We hiked from the Salamander to Lost Barrel Brewery and booked the Saloon. The waiting staff was waiting for us with menus and did check in with us regularly. The prices are unbeatable, the service is on point, the food and drinks are outstanding, and the brewery is Beautiful and has the perfect ambiance no matter what season. I also love that Lost Barrel brought back one of my favorites, the Bourbon Stout!

Jason B.

Yelp
Food is outstanding. Location is perfect. I would have easily given a 5 star review except for one issue, and I'm sorry about this; the number of children running around was really annoying. This is a brewery with great food. I'm a,"No children at Restaurants" snob. I know it and embrace it. Parents were non existent and did not seem to give a damn about their little minions ruining a great place to go for a brew and great Cuban sandwich. Hey parents of of little customers who don't drink liquor or buy anything; hire a babysitter for the day if you want to be at an adult beverage establishment. Jay bloom DC

Yelp
Fantastic place! Love the hard seltzers. Beautiful setting and amazing staff. Great food options too!

Yelp
If you're looking for a cool venue with a great outdoor space to enjoy an afternoon, LB is a great option. They've got beer (duh), cocktails, wine and food. If, on the other hand, you're on the hunt for amazing craft beer ... look elsewhere. It blows my mind that businesses will spend millions on their venue and then completely punt on the brewer.
