"Hugo's Lost Colony is remarkable for its elaborate jungly decor, with sprawling plant life embellishing nearly every inch of wall and ceiling, including a giant palm tree resting underneath a leafy canopy in the main dining area. String lights and neon signs add to the ornate look of the Yucatan-inspired restaurant, practically begging diners to snap a selfie amongst its glowing letters and lush greenery. Aside from being highly Instagram-able, Hugo’s Lost Colony offers a menu of familiar Tex-Mex fare, with traditional dishes like enchiladas, fajitas, and nachos. It also has some hearty starters, such as fried calamari and pork belly charro beans. The restaurant’s bar, dubbed Bar Tulum, currently serves 12 different versions of frozen and on-the-rocks margaritas, primarily prepared with Mi Campo Tequila, with the exception of its top-shelf margarita, which is made with Casa Noble Reposado. In addition, Bar Tulum has domestic and Mexican beer and a small handful of local craft brews, like Dallas Blonde from Deep Ellum Brewing Co. Hugo’s Lost Colony offers a brunch menu from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, which includes huevos rancheros, steak chile relleno, and fresh mimosas." - Polly Anna Rocha

The food was okay. I’d recommend the queso, churros and enchiladas. The atmosphere carries. Their music had ads which was funny, but interuppts the ambience. The chocolate sauce for the churros was delicious and the churros were also good. I got the sour cream and chicken enchiladas which were pretty good. Typically the cheese is on top of the sour cream sauce but at the Lost Colony it was inside of the enchiladas which was nice. The salsa has too much cilantro for me, but was still edible.

Great value for family fun! We were a group of 12. They let us separate checks! We got drinks at the bar while we waited for our guests. We asked the bartender for the olives on the side of my wifes martini. They came in the drink. We let our server know our expectations and she took the drink off our tab. The food was great! My wife and I got a dish for $26 that had a steak, chicken breast and large shrimp accompanied with beans and slaw. So much food and it was delicious. Gluten free to! We were celebrating a birthday so our server provided dessert plates and extra silverware. The whole establishment is set up beautifully for taking pics. All boxes checked here.

We came for my daughters birthday and it was a great experience. The food was amazing and our server Michelle was excellent. If you like taking pics you can get some good shots here.

We wanted to do something different in a different area. This restaurant is awesome. The decor is like no other. The food and service were perfect. The server realized that the order was messed up and took it off the ticket. We tipped well. He deserved it. *****SORRY NO FOOD PICS****** Was enjoying the ambiance and company. I had Nachos and a cheese tamale and my hubby had a mixed tamale plate. We have decided to add it to our dining rotation!

Google
The food was great. A little pricey, but not too bad. We were a big party so it took a little bit to get our food, but no complaints. They had live music in the bar. You could enjoy eating inside or outside with heaters. They also have a playground on the patio. Loved this place.

Google
The ambiance is the highlight of the restaurant. It is the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 3. The food is okay. That's not just my take. There were 9 of us, and the general consensus was that it wasn't bad. It was just okay. I will say, you can not go wrong with the queso ( always safe) or the chiccarons. The chiccarons were so good. I had that with the elote. (which was actually esquite) Other than that, enjoy the good service and great views.

Google
A beautiful place serving amazing Mexican food. The atmosphere is very inviting , decorative and peaceful. This restaurant has lots of spaces inside and outdoor. Their restrooms are great too. Our family of five found something for each from the menu. Food was delicious. I ordered mixed fajitas ( steak and shrimp). The shrimp was great however the steak was kind of chewy. Queso was creamy and delicious. Their salsas were amazing. We got an amazing server named Sophia. Very friendly and attentive. Other staff members were also very friendly and welcoming. We spend average $20 per person. We will surely return. BTW, this is a great place for private parties. Very nice.

It’s patio weather at Lost Colony! They really do have the best patio in town, with an awesome kids play structure and patio. Parents can sip cold drinks under a shady tree while the kids have the best time playing, it’s one of my favorite spots in town! Portions are generous and happy hour specials are great, definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
This place is like a hidden gem. If you like tortilla soup you must keep reading! We didn't love it when they first opened, BUT they updated the menu and it is so good!!! They have daily happy hour, margaritas are very good and pretty strong. Many options for food on happy hour that are very tasty. But here's the biggest secret - we've compared the chicken tortilla soup at every local Mexican Tex/mex place, and theirs surpasses ALL the others, some by miles. The broth is so deeply flavored and limey. The chicken is shredded so it comes to you in every bite. And the chunks of avocado are fresh and delicious. I can't emphasize this enough - this is THE BEST tasting tortilla soup you will find anywhere around. It's THAT good! Don't cheat yourself by getting the cup. Go for the bowl. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Great salsa for the chips. I almost didn't order pork tamales - I've had my share of bland, dry tamales in restaurants. But these were moist and enough kick to break out a little perspiration on the upper lip, but not overly spicy. I was part of a party of 8. All comments were positive. The decor is a little funky - lots of hanging plants give it a jungle feel. One of my companions said it was like Rainforest Cafe for adults. Service was solid. I'd go back.

Shelli M.

Yelp
First timers. Came on Friday evening after thanksgiving. We made a reservation for 6;30 pm but it was not needed. It never filled up. The bar was virtually empty with an acoustic guitar and singer. There are literally endless photo ops throughout the entire place. Instagram worthy. We were greeted by a very sweet hostess and taken to our table. We had a really nice server who allowed us to visit with our friends and didn't rush us at all. The chips and salsa were good. We ordered the queso with beef and guacamole for starters. I will say we were surprised by the size of the queso. But it was good. The guacamole was awesome and fresh. We had the beef fajitas for one and I thought they were tasty and fork tender. Food, service and atmosphere all very good. I'd like to come back on a warmer evening to check out the patio. I'd go back.

Yelp
I recently visited Lost Colony Restaurant in Highland Village, TX and had a fantastic time! We order the flauta taco and a couple margaritas, and both were absolutely delicious. The flauta taco was crispy and packed with flavor, filled with tender meat and topped with fresh ingredients. It's had just the right amount of crunch, and I loved the accompanying salsa - it added a nice kick! As for the margarita, they were refreshing and perfect balanced. The service was attentive and our server was knowledgeable about the Menu, offering great recommendations . The ambiance was warm and inviting, soft lighting adds to the relaxed vibe, make it perfect for casual outing and special occasions!

Sarah C.

Yelp
Great relaxed vibe! Happy hour is tasty and Ben at the bar is fabulous! Service was great. Flautas and chicken nachos were delicious. The black bean dip and the salsa is great! Will be back!!

Megan S.

Yelp
Queso? delicious! Tortillas? Delicious! What's that? You want to eat and let your children play together in a play area while you socialize and know that your kiddos are safe? Fantastic! They've got you. Service? Outstanding! I will choose this place every day of every week. I would say that this place is a hidden gem, but it's not even hidden! Bring your children, bring your friends and have a good time! The live music is great on the weekends, the salsa is FRESH and it isn't too spicy, you want a spicy sauce? They HAVE spicy sauce. (Too spicy for me ) thank yall for always making our outings special Jaecob! Service level 9000+

Clau D.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant when it first opened & im very disappointed that after a while food and service is not good. We started with cocktails pineapple margaritas overly sweet. Chips & salsas (beans were bland) the red salsa was good. The fajitas were not worth it... even though meat was tender there was not even Salt in it. Nothing that you see on the plate was good!!!! And the pan seared chicken had no flavor whatsoever. REMINDER: A little bit of salt & pepper goes a long way . Anyways , restaurant is nice & the ambiance was cool. Sadly i wont be visiting this restaurant again:(

Taylor S.

Yelp
Jaecob is the best server at this location. I have received such amazing service that I was compelled to leave a review. The kids area at Lost Colony is a draw that very few places have. If you want to enjoy your meal, have a bunch of drinks, and let the kids play in a safe environment with several peers this is the place. This is a gem in the metroplex. The only restaurants that offer this are the Truck Yard in Plano, and a few offerings in Coppell. The food is top notch, the drinks are amazing, and I will continue to come here multiple times a month. The vibe here is unique and incredible. If you are not here you are missing out!

Gabriella S.

Yelp
We visited at 4:30 on a Sunday, restaurant was very empty and for some reason the service still lacked. The table was not bussed often to clear small plates. We had to ask a couple of times for extra glasses. Waiter was friendly enough though. Other than that, Ambiance was amazing. This restaurant is a whole photo op vibe. You feel like you are on a resort or something. The music is amazing although I wish we had asked if they could turn up the volume just a little. Food was good, no complaints from anyone and what they ordered. The sampler appetizer was awesome and gave a little taste of everything. Great place for a birthday or gals day. The patio is to die for and has a 21+ area which is nice! They also have a kids area with a boat play area that makes it family friendly as well! We will def be back!

Sarah S.

Yelp
This restaurant is super cool. Inspired by Tulum which I have been to and they really knocked it out of the park. Overall great ambiance, food, and drinks. Only thing to note is when you call to place a to go order (their website says call to order i.e. no online ordering system) there is an automated system that lists hours, and then says "press 1 for reservations, 2 for private event inquiry, and all other stay on the line to leave a voicemail" (I.e. there is no option to place a to go order) so you have to press 1 for reservation to be connected to the host stand. Super confusing and frustrating the first time I called to order

Joel R.

Yelp
Everything went well. Our second visit and we love this place! Menu choices and ambiance just great!

Sarah W.

Yelp
Excellent service! Ask for Jacob; he was phenomenal! There's a little playground outside for kids, and the margaritas were great! Happy hour pricing was awesome, too. Definitely recommend

Jamie L.

Yelp
We've been here several times and love coming here! The outdoor patio by the play area is AMAZING if you have kids. It's our favorite. There's not many restaurants where your kids can play where you can sit and have a drink or eat and keep an eye on them. We came today and Michelle was our server. She was wonderful!! Every server we've had here was friendly and efficient. The patio has multiple areas if you want outdoor seating but also not by a bunch of kids ;). The restaurant is large and all the different areas of it are beautiful. You really can't go wrong. Inside the restaurant is definitely a vibe. There's plants everywhere and candles - you need to go at least once just to see it. There's lots of photo ops from the lot up signs out front to the bathrooms. If you've got an event or a date and want to have a great atmosphere this is the spot. If you've got kids the patio is perfect. The food is 3.5 to 4 stars to me - which I hate to say since we really love this place but it's the one area they could improve on to me. It's still good and I've enjoyed my meals. The brisket quesadillas and the fajitas are my favorites. 100% worth coming here for the great ambiance and play area/ patio.

Missy R.

Yelp
Would give it five stars but the tiny bowl of chips took it. They serve large portions of everything else and even give you your own salsa and bean dip but only one small bowl of chips for a table four. We repeatedly asked for chip chips chips probably five to six times. Son ordered steak and eggs and loved it while daughter ordered pulled pork tacos. I had fajitas and they were pretty good. Ordered 2 margaritas and they were okay nothing extraordinary. Overall liked it. Will go back.

Yelp
Always a great experience at the Lost Colony, and Mustafa, our waiter, was very detailed-oriented, hanging on every word, making sure we received exactly what we ordered. The 44 Farms Steak Fajitas are EXCELLENT, so flavorful, and there's never any grease at the bottom of the plate, and it's the only item on the menu we both have ordered for over one year now; however, the quantity of the beef was less of a portion than we're familiar with. Kudos to Mustafa for making our time there pleasurable.

Zach M.

Yelp
Your vision sensories will explode as you walk into Lost Colony. Each room has a different theme for you to choose. It was a beautiful Saturday, so we chose to sit outside on the patio. We loved the idea that they have an adults only patio in addition to one that allows children. Drinks were spectacular! I highly recommend the spicy magarita(made with poblano peppers). You will have to request as it's not a menu item. All the food was so fresh! We went light with just guac and tacos, and all hit the spot. I felt the shrimp tacos were a little on the pricy side for 2 tacos($19), but lemme tell you, they didn't disappoint. Fresh ingredients, and they filled me up! Service was top-notch. She didn't rush us through. She let us enjoy every aspect of the drinks and appetizer before we ordered. We will definitely be back to check out the vibes at night, and I want to try those enchiladas!

Bethany P.

Yelp
Cute place, great patio, good service, and great food and drinks. W head several dishes and appetizer and all were very good. A mixture of brunch and lunch and we cannot complain. The drinks were very good, not too strong, but just strong enough. Patio is covered in spots so you don't get blasted. We went on a Sunday around 2PM and while some area of the patio were busy, ours was not. It was almost empty inside, but beautifully decorated and great bars.

Diana S.

Yelp
Good food and Mustafa gave us good service! My only complaint is they couldn't make me a Cosmopolitan but the Berry Mule made a tasty substitute.

Mechelle M.

Yelp
Absolute horrible service and communication from server. The food was "OK" not great. Had to ask for additional chips, never got extra salsa, even though we asked for it. Server was very slow to take orders, when asked if I could get another drink, she never ask if anyone else at the table needed anything. Long time between ordering and receiving ANYTHING. What should have been an enjoyable experience was totally not. Separate checks, the ticket that was provided to me was correct, then gave my credit card, brought back and a different amount was charged with no explanation. When I asked for the manager, the guy could barely understand English and was still incorrect when it was returned to me, and again with no communication. Will NEVER return or recommend to anyone I know.

Anne O.

Yelp
Went for lunch with a friend. Food was good. Service was great. Prices are decent. Place was empty though so hopefully they are busier for dinner, would hate to see them close.

Christy G.

Yelp
We stopped by for happy hour to check the restaurant out. The interior is beautiful! We sat at the bar. We ordered drinks and appetizers. We also received chips and salsas. The bartender was fantastic! She was personable and customized our drinks for us. Everything was wonderful. We'll have to go back to try their meals.

Christopher T.

Yelp
Horrible service. 10 top and had to go track people down to get anything throughout the entire time there. Yoana had no clue! Had to ask another server 3 times to find her. Then at checkout they billed me incorrect and had the nerve to add 20% gratuity. Had to involve the manager on the over charge on the credit card and no detailed receipt. Stay away. Be warned!

Maya M.

Yelp
GURL AMY WAS LIT!!! Talk about hospitality. she made sure we knew the holiday drinks and came back with the sample shots! also her bob eats. BLESS HER PLS!

Emmanuel C.

Yelp
Let's start with the service. It was a good experience overall, server was on point and hostess seated us right away, something that most restaurants are lacking nowadays. The food was very good, we ordered the nachos and a side of cheese to start. Both my wife and I ordered the fajitas. Booooy, the fajitas were soooo good, it's probably one of my favorite places for fajitas now. Great portion, tender and flavorful meat Ambience was great, not too loud but it was just perfect for us to have a conversation and a good time. The drinks, speechless, they're just really good or I was just thirsty lol I'd totally recommend it and I will totally come back

Brenda D.

Yelp
The food, service everything was amazing !! Definitely going back. The food portions are pretty big, dessert are 10/10 my favorite of all of them were the churros and tres leches. Great service.

Ashley J.

Yelp
The food, service and ambiance was everythin! We are celebrating our bffs 29th birthday for the 2nd time and this place was recommended. The environment was awesome!!! We will be coming back again for the $5 mimosas and shots. jacob and the staff was awesome!!

Staci W.

Yelp
Second visit here did not disappoint. Great atmosphere. Food was wonderful and our server Emma was attentive and pleasant. Will be back!

Lauren T.

Yelp
Everything was wonderful here!! I mean you can NOT beat this atmosphere!!! It was so beautiful everywhere!! It was a jungle theme in the main seating area but the bar area was very modern but also tropical and I just love EVERYTHING about this restaurant!! The food was excellent as well!! Service was also very good!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Jhonattan B.

Yelp
Incredibly amazing service! We recently celebrated the launch of a Spanish worship service with The Village Church at the Lost Colony with the Ministry team - TVC Español. I recommend this location and restaurant to celebrate with your team, food is amazing and service is 5 stars. Love it. Thank you Lost Colony for having us there.

Nisha R.

Yelp
So the ambiance is everything it's the best part of the restaurant. I love the decor it's truly cool and you can take some AMAZING pictures. The Margarita was good, but it's just your average Margarita. Nothing special, however I enjoyed the drink better than my food. I started out with a taco. It was mediocre and not very flavorful or good. I honestly would have preferred Taco Bell. The queso was blah and could have been hotter. So I wasn't pleased at all. I will say the salsa was tasty and the 2nd batch of chips were yummy. My first bunch of chips were crumbs. Like they were at the bottom of a bag. Overall I wouldn't go back. I think this place has some great Instagram photo opportunities. My waiter was pleasant. I couldn't even order any more food. I'm like if the taco and queso are disappointing I better leave. My friend who joined me felt the same. This was her 2nd time trying it. So this is a NO for me. My favorite part the atmosphere and decor.

Monique P.

Yelp
Love this restaurant! Atmosphere is cool, food is amazing and the place is large so if you have an event they have a lot of options. Bar area also has live music

Vijaya Sarathi M.

Yelp
Cozy ambience, amazing food and most of all the service was great! We loved Michelle's

Alicia W.

Yelp
Our first time in, and it has been nothing short or amazing! The guacamole was super fresh, the queso comes with a warmer. House margaritas are delicious! The portion sizes are more than enough for 1 person. Our waitress, Ashley, was amazing!! She was on point and never left us hanging. I loved the way the restaurant was decorated. Overall, I can't wait to visit again!

Jmac M.

Yelp
his place has going for it is the ambiance and the decorations. The food is simply not good. We have been when it was super crowded and when it was completely empty, but the result is always the same: lukewarm, bland food. It really is a shame because the atmosphere makes you want to like this place. Maybe if you just go for a cocktail, it's okay, but that's really about it. I will say the bartenders are great. Unless I am going for a specific reason other than the food, I skip this place. The only thing t

Kaitlin P.

Yelp
The experience here has been great! I got 2 chicken & 1 pork tamale and they were SO yummy! Also their chips & queso were so good!! Our bartender Jonny has been awesome! Very nice & attentive! Jazmine has been very sweet as well and always made sure we had what was needed. Thank you for such a nice and fulfilling experience! We WILL be coming back again!

Leena J.

Yelp
Beautiful place! Gorgeous. On a busy road but tucked away- lots of parking. Incredible aesthetic! Lovely for dinner. They don't take reservations but you can put your name in the Yelp wait list. We were seated within 20 minutes on Saturday night. We sat at the bar waiting for a table. Service was ok at the bar, bar tender didn't seem friendly. Meh. Headed back to our table. We had to wait for a good minute before a sweet young lady took our drink orders. She was really fantastic! Intro- We always love a good chips and salsa moment- the chips however were too thin and not very flavorful. The salsa was too citrusy- we were hoping for a light tomato chipotle flavor when we saw the color. Next- calamari was beautifully plated, but the onion decor on top was making the little amount of calamari. $18 is also a bit pricey for the appetizer. Very tasty though- just not enough bite for the buck. Main- we did the fajitas- Flavorful chicken, steak was a bit chewy. Sides were good but nothing extraordinary. Food was not spectacular. For the price the portions could be bigger. Four stars for our waitress, she was epic and made celebrating a birthday pretty fantastic! She really went all out. She gifted us the dessert and it was really delicious and interested flavor profile and texture.

Missy S.

Yelp
List Colony has tropical ambiance. The decor and atmosphere transported me to a beachy getaway. However, I found the food to be a bit disappointing. The tacos and enchiladas lacked the flavor and authenticity I was hoping for. The drinks were subpar - the strawberry margarita was the worst. While the restaurant's tropical vibe was a highlight, the subpar food left me craving a more flavorful experience. The food is definitely not worth the price. The front of the house staff lacked hospitality. My server was great- she was attentive and kind.

Tina G.

Yelp
This was my second time eating here and I was not disappointed. The first time I visited a friend had the elote and let me try it. It was so awesome. I was craving it and had to visit again to have the full portion and I'm so glad I did. It was just as good as the first time. I also had the braised beef birria quesadilla. It was so flavorful and the portion was huge. Could have definitely shared it with someone else. The atmosphere is great and the patio very pleasant. I will be back.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I really love the vibe of this place but if the service continues, it won't last. I ordered the braised beef birria quesadilla and got a steak quesadilla. I ordered a second margarita 10 min before happy hour was over and I was charged full price. If you want to hit the bar and get drinks and queso, that's your best bet. Otherwise stick to enchiladas to avoid disappointment.

Hallie H.

Yelp
Service was okay, nothing special. The inside of the place is very cute and fun. Lost of photo ops. I got some sort of quesadilla. It was good! It was busy that night but there were no long waits. Dress code is versatile.

Juan Carlos L.

Yelp
Amy was our server and she is awesome! Helped us make the food much better suggesting and bringing a chile de árbol salsa. Made the chilaquiles a 9 when they would be a 5 with that mild salsa they use. Loved it. She was really empathetic with our kids and accommodated our needs and brought them tacos and then fajita tacos when they didint really enjoyed their first dish. Love the place because we can let our kids play around while we catch up with a friend. And at the same time enjoy a margarita on the nice shaded patio. Btw. Y'all should listen to your customers/ servers when they suggest stuff for your dishes. Like using that chile de árbol salsa or other more spicy salsas as a menu option to prepare the dishes. It would really improve your menu and bump it up a lot.

Emilie L.

Yelp
The food was great and the service was awesome! Our waiter, Jacob, was fantastic! We'll be coming back, hungry for more.

Rusty K.

Yelp
Large and beautiful place. Whimsical in a lot of ways but not over the top. Chips and salsa were okay but the queso and guacamole were excellent. They put a tea cup candle under the queso to keep it nice and warm throughout. That's a nice trick! House margarita on the rock was very good. They had a lot of options for drinks but happy hour is happy hour. I ordered the chicken chili rellano and it was outstanding. Quesadillas were very good and beef nachos were good. Our waiter was great, we had a large table and he took very well care of us and would look for him again when we go back! Really good food and neat place.

Michael H.

Yelp
Third enjoyable time in a couple of months and each meal was tasty and well prepared. Shrimp quesadillas and guacamole were delicious as we dined on the unique outdoor patio last night as the temps found their way to the mid 70's at dusk and the Rangers had a shutout win on the big screen. If you haven't been there, a kids play area on one end and an adults only bar area on the other side with plenty of tables in the middle. Service always attentive and good selection of unique beverages and food.

Dawn L.

Yelp
Great place to eat. The food was amazing and the staff was great. We were seated fast and the enchiladas are divine.

Jonathan D.

Yelp
Great place excellent customer service, ambience inspire in Cancun is great, at patios is amazing option. Tex Mex food is nice, good flavors and great quality. Good Job lost Colony.

Sandeep G.

Yelp
Went there with friends for dinner around 8:30 PM on a Saturday. The place was fairly busy but we got a place fast as the restaurant is quite big. The staff is pleasant but scarce. Our server was very friendly but was not there most of the time. We asked the server who came with the food for plates as we were sharing, and they shook their head vigorously but we did not get fresh plates. The food is good but nothing exceptional. The restaurant is spacious, bright and well decorated.

Alyssa Luis R.

Yelp
The drinks are great ask for the tamarindo. Catch them during happy hour and it's totally worth it. Cristian is the best! Ask for him

Travis H.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my family! We sat out on their spacious and beautiful back patio. Michelle was the most amazing server ever! She was SO attentive, sweet, and had impeccable timing on when she checked in on us. Food was amazing (as always), but her great service made our total dining experience.
