"The owners of the local Lost Dog family of restaurants have their own foundation to save stray or abandoned animals. The outdoor patio is pet-friendly, and the menu includes lots of salad and sandwich options." - Tierney Plumb, Vinciane Ngomsi

This is a cool, relaxing place to hang out with family and friends. It’s down to earth with a wide selection of food, and for those that want suds, they have beer too. Parking is a challenge though so be prepared to drive around the block a few times. Service is very good as well, as you’re made to feel welcome.

Google
The red tin tin pizza was slightly above average just looking at the sauce, cheese, and toppings. However, I was not a fan of the crust (weirdly like whole wheat and not crispy or chewy, rather like a dinner roll). The artichoke spinach dip was really tasty. They put cheese in it as well to add to the combo. I like that they serve it with pita bread in addition to tortilla chips (the chips were kinda stale). Big selection of craft beers.

Google
We went there on a tap takeover by one of our favorite breweries. We won the raffle grand prize and sampled fantastic Beer. Ate some great pizza. Had a great salad and black bean dip. It was all good.

Google
Come for the beer, eat somewhere else. Solid beer rotation. Friendly staff. Decent pizza. The Internet here is soooo slow. 🫠 Phone signal dead zone and they don't have WiFi.🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Google
The food is very variable. Sometimes the pizza is amazing - crisp crust, even balance of toppings, crispy /savory bacon etc, but sometimes it's super droopy/limp, over cheesed to the point it tastes like plastic, or you pay $2 to add red onion and you can't even find any. This is still my favorite pizza place around, but half the time the overall experience is 3/5 stars while other times it's 5/5. Wish there was more consistentcy

Google
I was in Arlington for 3nights and I eat here on 3 separate occasions. Their food was all great. Even my delivery was great! They have a phenomenal beer selection of 4 packs and variety of beers. 100% would be a regular.

Google
It's fine for what you should expect. Nothing great in general but a decent spot for lunch. The menu is enormous with hundreds of options including 50 sandwiches. They even have pizzas and about 10 Italian dishes. So as you might expect it's hard to put out great food when there's so many things for the kitchen to do.

Google
I love Lost Dog and have gone to the Arlington locations for years. We were in town for a funeral and went to the closest one to where we were staying. The service was AWFUL! We waited over 40 minutes for our pizzas, had to find the server multiple times for help, and they didn’t do the checks correctly. I was so disappointed because I’ve never had this issue at any other location. When it was time to leave I saw no employee at the bar, none in the restaurant, and walked over to carry out and saw 6-7 people hanging out behind the counter just chatting. Thankfully the food was still top notch but when you have to go searching for help at 1pm on a Wednesday and there are maybe ten customers in the restaurant, something is wrong.

Yelp
I love this place! Great food, huge menu and very accommodating service. Prefer the patio to inside but either works. Also, as an animal lover, I love the cause that they're supporting.

Megan M.

Yelp
Great convenient spot for lunch! Have over 50 sandwiches, salads, and pizzas. Honestly a hidden gem. And they have tons of gluten free options.

Dave L.

Yelp
This place is still awesome 5 years later. Great food, great menu, great beer. It survived COVID and is still as good as it was. This is a must do in Old Town.

Yelp
Some of the best service I've had in a long time. Our waiter was great and answered all our questions, and provided good attentive service despite the place being busy. Pizza was good if a bit pricey. Alas didn't have much in the way of hard cider.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this cute little restaurant. It's in a great location with street parking. I ordered the Phoenix sandwich (garlic chicken on pita bread) with a side of chips, and a Pepsi. So good, so tender, and so flavorful! I also ordered a large pizza to go. The pizza was a bit pricey but totally worth it. The service was really nice and chill. No one hovered but they were available when needed. #Happy Eating #OrderPizza

Yelp
Diverse menu of some of the best sandwiches in town. You can get anything from a turkey club to a surf and turf sandwich to a pizza pie. Quick service and very delicious food at this cute little sandwich shop.

Jerry S.

Yelp
I like the casual atmosphere and great service. I've tried a lot of the different pizzas and sandwiches and they've all been good.

Mary Lou L.

Yelp
The food is very good. Terrific sandwich menu. Good corn chowder. Great servers. Fun atmosphere.

Yelp
While staying in Old Town we wanted a "lighter" lunch after shopping. A lot of the restaurants on King St are a heavier food option so after some searching on Yelp we found Lost Dog. This was a bit of a walk from King but honestly not too bad and mostly level/no hill walking. The service was great and the expansive menu options was a huge plus. My husband and I both said we wished we lived closer so we could try everything as it all sounded so good. We started with the Layer Dip which was really good. I feel like it could use some more flavor/spice. I ordered the Sammy's Club which was really good. My husband ordered the K9 and he said it had a lot of flavor. My sandwich was enough to take leftovers. We will definitely be back next time we are in town!

James C.

Yelp
Bro this place bussing straight up no cap the sandwiches have that nice suby taste and the fries are Straight up no cap the best fries I've had

Tina L.

Yelp
Let me just preface this by saying..it's very rare for me to try too many new things! So when I told my dining partner that I wanted to try something new..he almost passed out..lol So there we were...googling and me wrinkling my nose saying "naw" "nope" "really" Just when he was about to give up and go to one of our tried and true haunts in Old Town..The Lost Dog came up. I like helping dogs..I like cute punny name for a menu item..so my old stuck in my ways butt said "sure why not" The space has the best vibe! The ark work on the walls is so amazing! The awesome bartenders that took care of us were friendly and accommodating! Make sure you get the CHILI!!! It is freaking amazing!!! The dog collars(onion rings) were hot and delicious! My pastrami sandwich that I created myself Was DELICIOUS..my thanks to the bartender for not judging my basic request for pastrami on rye with mustard..you're the true hero! Now my companion had the number 12 surf and turf sandwich and was completely floored by the flavor and the amount of crab on the sub! The draft beers we had were unique and flavorful..I just wish I had time to try more. There is a package store as well and we ended up grabbing a bunch of ciders and beers to take with us! So..to sum everything up..the Lost Dog cafe taught this old dog some new tricks! We will be back!

Kelsey K.

Yelp
I've been here twice and both times the food has been good! The wait staff is nice the food has come out hot and with good flavor! I don't remember all the names of what we got this time around but pics of what all we had are attached! I'd go back for a third time for a quick good lunch! Oh and the menu is huge!! I failed to get a picture but there is a full page of awesome pizzas, another of sandwiches plus salads some apps and pastas!

Jeff H.

Yelp
Very unhappy with last order. How do you screw up a grilled cheese sandwich? Steak and cheese had no tomatoes, no lettuce.

Lor B.

Yelp
I'm giving two stars just for the sheer convenience, but the food has been mediocre. Sometimes even laughably bad. Tonight, it was the latter. Example: we got lost dog dip - a seven layer dip. We just wanted something snacky while watching football. First off - it was cold. Like, I doubt anything that's supposed to be cooked in the dip was ever warm. There was probably a teaspoon of cheese. There's supposed to be some kind of ground beef in the dip? We got a literal burger patty. The patty wasn't even broken up. It was in four big chunks. There was no flavor. I don't understand how you can omit flavor in a savory 7 layer dip but there you go. The guacamole is from a jar. It was basically an avocado puree. The only nice thing was that the shredded lettuce was fresh? Oh and the chips were crunchy. We tried to doctor the dip. We heated it up. We added some chili seasoning. We added salt. We added spicy chili powder. It was a lost cause. We tossed it. Basically, get drunk first on their beers on tap before order any food. Drunkenness might be the spice needed to make their food edible. Four thumbs down.

Sidney D.

Yelp
I love lost dog. I've had their pizza as well as their past and I couldn't recommend more. Great prices for delicious food and they are for a good cause. Win win win. Every time we have ordered pick up they were nice to us, we would love to dine in sometime it seems like a great atmosphere!

Mandy L.

Yelp
Came here with a coworker for dinner one night. Cool place! Nice people. Food was good too!

Cheryl P.

Yelp
Great Cafe and Menu . Good Menu and Prices,,,,!!!!! Definitely a Must, on Your List,,,!!!!!! Super Nice Staff

Greyson N.

Yelp
So many options - I also got a bowl of chicken corn chowder which was really hardy. You get a really substantial piece of garlic cheese bread enough to fill you up. The chicken chowder was good with big chunks of chicken. The salads look huge as well and nice to have a business that donates to dog and cat charities

Kat P.

Yelp
No ice in either the soda or the iced tea (lol), on a day when it was 100 degrees outside. Salad was okay but none too generous. Pasta came with a side of garlic bread that wasn't very garlicky. Sandwich was on plain ol wheat bread. Cake was $10 for a meager slice, but tasty. Service was kind.

Sierra J.

Yelp
My best friend and I with our kids swung by and we had a very good experience. Im we ordered the crab dip which came with garlic bread. It was a hit with the kids and with us. My best friend got a pasta dish I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it. I got the fat Willis which was more than filling. I had leftovers. My daughter got pepperoni pizza. For dessert we got a bad dog a la mode. Kids wolfed it down and no complaints from them. Our server was very attentive and we would definitely come back!

Anne H.

Yelp
Great food and service! My friends and I stumbled upon this Café on October 8, 2023 after our walk around Old Town Alexandria. Each of us ordered a different dish. My friends ordered the Lucky Clucker Salad, the Rottie sandwich, a side of freshly fried fries, and someone else ordered the Spaghetti Meatballs which came with a generous side of freshly baked garlic bread. I ordered the Catahoula pizza, which was delicious! My pizza came out steaming hot from the oven with homemade spicy pizza sauce, garlic chicken, sliced tomatoes, covered with mozzarella cheese and basil. The cheese melted perfectly and was stringy just how I liked it when I pulled out a slice to eat! The chicken tasted fresh and complemented really well with the fresh basil and tomatoes! Each of the dishes we ordered came out fresh and were made to order. The service provided by our waiter was also great! Highly recommend!

Courtney D.

Yelp
This is by far one of my favorite restaurant in Old Town. It's inexpensive, the vibe is awesome, and you're helping out a great cause! I've tried a little bit of everything there and it's all been delicious!

Sav J.

Yelp
Awesome menu with literally a mountain of choices for both sandwiches and pizzas. The service can be a little hit or miss but solid choice.

Sarah K.

Yelp
Came here for a quick date night and got the Kujo Pie (pizza) and fat Willis salad. The pizza was quite delicious and came to us hot out the oven! The salad was also scrumptious with lots of chicken. My only complaints would be only having 3 small slices of avocado and full bacon strips rather than smaller bits on the salad (making it difficult to eat). The environment was clean and our server was very friendly but food took a while to come despite it being not very crowded.

Anthony I.

Yelp
A wonderful selection of top notch, delicious sandwiches, pizzas and pasta. The menu is so extensive, I've eaten here countless times and have yet to have the same thing twice. Their delivery is also super fast and always accurate. This is one of our go to use for lunch it never disappoints.

Ashleigh T.

Yelp
We visiting the lost dog cafe on a Friday evening because it came up on several blogs as a great please if you have a fur baby. We entered and were met by a hostess who appeared to grossed out that we had a dog, she said you need to go to the back and I'll come meet you. We were a bit confused by her demeanor but walked around to the outdoor patio. Once at the patio another family had two very large dogs (we have a 5 pound pup) and she was going to seat us next to them as one of the large dogs barked aggressively at us. I asked to be seated at a farther table and she hesitated, I explained that we couldn't have our small puppy next to much larger animals who are aggressively barking. She said ok and sat us at a table that needed to be cleaned of despite there being several other open tables. The menu was quite extensive but we settled on a white chicken pizza and the Italian French fries. The fries came first and honestly I'm not sure why they are called Italian fries they were plain unseasoned waffle fries. The pizza was underwhelming it was supposed to have garlic chicken but it was bland chunks that didn't add anything. The crust was too thin for the amount of topping so the crust was soggy and needed to be eaten with a fork and knife. Our waitress was really nice and accommodating but I just wasn't impressed. I'm not sure we will return even though it's super close to us due to the lukewarm welcome and taste of the food.

Laura R.

Yelp
Our lazy day takeout go-to. I get overwhelmed with their menu because there are sooooo many options. This is great, but it makes it hard to choose. Takeout is hit or miss. I really can't fault them too much on that because it just can't be as good as eating in. I'm sure I could give them a better review after dining in, but it's so close to us that takeout is super easy. There are a lot of pizza options (and wayyyyy too many sandwich options). Pizza isn't amazing but better than expected IMO. I really enjoy the chips and guac. Overall, a really nice place to have local since there are so many options.

Aaron H.

Yelp
My favorite lunch spot, so I go usually once a week or more. Each sandwich (and there are a ton of options) are unique and flavorful. Favorite's include Billy's Philly but add garlic butter too, their version of chicken parm and The Falcon. The pizza's are also tasty, recommend the Honey BBQ sauce as a base. The Italian Fries are unique but I like them, too. Easy process to order online, always ready on-time and friendly staff. Can't beat it for a (not too cheap, but delicious and filling) lunch. And of all the Lost Dog's, this one is my favorite as the flavors are just better here. Highly recommend a visit for eat-in or takeaway.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
The sandwiches are very tasty! I had the tuna and a roasted chicken sandwich, both were very good. I think the breads used for the sandwiches make all the difference. Highly recommend!

Devon E.

Yelp
Got to try this place in Alexandria, VA while visiting some family. We did eat inside as there was no outside seating to accommodate a party of 8. Luckily, their large table was in an area by itself away from the other few tables/booths inside. Unfortunately for me, our table was right under the AC vent and the AC was on full blast, so it was very cold inside! All staff I saw were wearing masks and they had lots of hand sanitizer accessible. Our waiter was very patient (as we were a large group with kids) and attentive. The menu at this place is huge, it was honestly a bit overwhelming. They had lots of appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, and pizzas to choose from as well as lots of beers on draught or by can/bottle. Safe to say they had something for everyone! I wanted a beer, so I ordered a sour they were featuring that was made with papaya and milk sugar. I know it sounds weird, and it was, but it was good, weird. Wish I could remember the name... My husband and I got the Green dog dip as an appetizer (Spinach artichoke dip topped with pico de gallo and served with tri-colored tortilla chips and pita). I actually really liked it as it was a nicely paired combo of two common appetizers. We then decided to share a salad and a pizza for our entrée. We chose the Doghouse Salad (mixed greens, oven roasted tomatoes, portobello mushrooms, kalamata olives, artichokes, cucumbers, roasted red peppers, sliced fresh mozzarella, and feta vinaigrette dressing). It was a very pretty salad with nice pops of color, it also was very tasty. I could have been satisfied with this salad on its own with a protein, but of course I wanted pizza. My husband and I love pesto, so we decided to get a small Kajo Pie pizza (homemade pizza sauce with pesto, artichoke hearts, garlic chicken, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil). This was a really good pizza y'all. I kept eating even after I was full. The crust was nicely cooked, perfectly cheesy, and the pesto was prevalent but not too heavy. I also could taste the garlic on the chicken which was a nice touch. In addition to a great taste, it also was a very large, small and not expensive. We got a lot of bang for our buck. I will absolutely come back here next time I am in the area.

Yelp
Stopped in at the end of our night so my husband could try a Maine beer. I wasn't expecting the conviviality and hometown bar feel! We sat at the bar and the bartender was generous, relaxed, and engaged and striking up conversations with others. He gave us an idea of the beers in the pipeline for the winter holidays too.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
I come to this place regularly - mostly for their rotating list of craft beers and massive list of sandwiches! There are so many speciality sandwiches to choose from, and the pizza/pasta/appetizers I've had were also really good! Family friendly but mostly smaller booths in the restaurant but also a small bar in the middle.

Gerald B.

Yelp
Had a quick meal here. I tried the sea dog salad, italian fries, and crab dog dip. The food hit the spot. Service was fairly quick.

Ciara T.

Yelp
Bro, this pizza, bro. So good. I just. Then the service, Jalen was attentive to me and my baby (Pomeranian full breed get you one) No but seriously if you have a dog come here. I brought my baby for her 3rd birthday, they don't have food specifically for the dogs but if you're like me and feed your baby table food, and even if you don't. Come. She enjoyEd all the dogs in the neighborhood walking by, a few people with dogs came up to us while we waited for our food. It was a really good experience and we will be back.

Sofia M.

Yelp
I love their salads and soups. Their service is consistent and pleasant. However, the thing I love the most about this place is that they support doggies. Their place is chilled and very clean. I ate there and ordered take out in the past. I also ordered delivery and they were quick.

Cat S.

Yelp
From good to bad to worse. We've been coming here for a few years - prices have gone up and service has gone down. $100 lunch is a bit much considering we ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 kids meals. I had to get up twice to locate our server. Once to ask about our food (we were sitting for close to 45 mins and the place was empty) and the second time to get a the check and a box. Be warned if you eat outside - there will be flies. Sad to say this restaurant is being taken out of our restaurant rotation.

Kirk S.

Yelp
It's hard to dislike this place! The food is delicious (especially the sandwiches and pizza - both are packed with flavor pretty much no matter what you order), the staff is super friendly, and the beer selection is pretty great. Delivery is also seemingly pretty commonly available, so you don't have to fight for parking much on Alexandria streets. It's pretty awesome.

Frank M.

Yelp
I have been to lost dog many times since I live close by and order takeout . Lost Dog is one of my favorite local restaurants! The food is delicious and fairly priced!! My favorite sandwich is the "rotti" which is has garlic chicken, bacon, melted mozzarella and fresh avocado!!!! Delicious!!!!! Their pizza is also amazing as well as hummes and fries!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!

Maggie S.

Yelp
We are regulars at the various locations of Lost Dog Cafe but the Alexandria location has become our favorite. The food is always solid, whether you get a pizza or sandwich or chili. The service is great and there is ample seating. This last visit, we had Sophia, who was incredibly on top of it - we had several modifications and she got them all right, and she kindly brought out a treat for my kids at the end of the meal. Really impressed with the service and will be back soon!

Jen S.

Yelp
Loved this venue. We play trivia and saw Lost Dog is now hosting. Great family friendly venue with something for whole family - we all liked our food. (App, entrees, dessert) Great value. Great service. Great trivia.

Pryndall W.

Yelp
My first time ordering through Uber eats and def won't be my last. I was looking for pictures of the grilled chicken parm and didn't see any. So I took a chance. I selected the pesto marinara sauce as the sauce instead of just plain-- wow. Wow. Wow if you are looking for a Good Friday night long work week comfort meal. This is it ! I ordered the garlic bread with cheese but the actual bread it comes with was better than the side I paid extra for. So stick with the bread that comes with , the garlic bread with cheese looks like a hero that had cheese thrown on it. Nonetheless, I'll be back.

Audra H.

Yelp
We stopped here yesterday on a whim to pick up pizza, Turkey Reuben and some spin dip! The pizza was just as good as I remember! The toppings were fresh and the pizza was just on point! My husband absolutely LOVED the Turkey Reuben and he is picky and hard to please. His favorite thing about it was the amount of Turkey they put on the sandwich! They aren't stingy, thanks for sure! The spinach and artichoke dip was my least favorite. It was pretty bland and just didn't do anything for me! But that won't stop me from continuing to frequent this restaurant as there are so many other amazing options there!

Veronica B.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! What a great place with delicious food! I had the Italian pizza pie and my boyfriend had the Coyote sandwich and both were fantastic! My boyfriend also had the craft beers and he loved them. Our server (David) was very helpful on our first trip here. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed.

Natalie K.

Yelp
My go to local stop. Any night I don't feel like cooking I know I can count on Lost Dog for a pack of craft beer/cider, a bottle of wine, and any sort of food I want. The sandwiches are great for lunch, the pizzas are great for dinner, and I also love the Penne Rosa for a treat your self kinda night. If I just want to sit at a bar and have a bear, they are good for that too.

Long S.

Yelp
Lost Dog use to be our 'go to' place for pizza and beer! Unfortunately after our last two trips to Lost Dog, that is no longer the case. The beer selection is nothing like it use to be, the food has gone downhill, the service us eh, and what's with all the flies?! We will NOT be returning to Lost Dog any time soon and that is too bad! :-(

Meili L.

Yelp
Very casual sit down fast food spot. They are known for their pizzas and you can customize your own pizza. We came here on a Tuesday evening, it was busy but not packed. We were seated right away and the server came to take our drink order. We all got either ciders or wine. I feel like it did take a little bit longer for the drinks to get here, especially if it's not a cocktail that they have to make it. The service is a bit slow here. My friend ordered a sandwich that came with fries. She already finished her sandwich, and her fries didn't come yet. And the waiter finally told her they were out of fries. So they were getting still cooking the fries, however she did comp the fries for her.

Amelia E.

Yelp
Great for lunch, ideal for pizza and a beer. Had the Garlic Bread with Marinara sauce. It was a great appetizer. Definitely makes you hungrier and makes you look forward to your food! Ordered the Shelter Dog gourmet pizza and it was so good!

Chris K.

Yelp
Such a huge, varied menu. My wife and I got three entrees because we couldn't make up our mind. All were wonderful. So good we got my daughter and her husband a gift certificate so they would try it.

Eve C.

Yelp
I stopped by location and ordered a couple of soups to go, The soup had good flavor, but it was more like a bean soup several small pieces of chicken. The best part of this soup was the tasty corn chips. I won't order this item again#foodfail
