"Since its opening in 2003, the Lost Dutchman Coffee House has focused on locally roasted, high-grade coffee. The coffee is roasted in a micro-roastery in Tempe and the Gold Rush is a favorite offering — a double shot of espresso with half-and-half and a hint of vanilla. They also offer smoothies, teas, shakes, and floats. There is a food menu with offerings like gourmet oats, pastries, and cookies." - Rudri Patel

Google
I don't typically review coffee shops, although I try to visit different ones every week. This is an exception because the coffee was exceptional. My wife had a chai that she also gave 5 stars. This wasn't our first choice for coffee today, and we were hesitant because of the 4.5 average. But the coffee is great and also a decent value for the size/price. Definitely worth the trip.

Staff is energetic and friendly! Fast service with the place being packed! Had a small latte hot with whole milk and super smooth flavor. My friend had the chai ice cream and said it was really delicious and creamy!

Google
Warning: Not for anyone in a hurry. They have some interesting baked goods, great ice cream, and decent coffee, but they handle customers the old fashioned way. They take and then make every order rather than streamlining and integrating. Since there is often only one worker up front, this can lead to long wait times. The staff are nice and I can usually afford to wait, but they only get my business because of proximity, not service.

I adore this coffee house. Nestled in downtown Mesa and easy to get to with plenty of parking spots in the lot or on the street. Quaint, woodsy and bountiful fun seating inside. Their drinks and delectable desserts are my guilty pleasures. This is by far my favorite coffee shop to visit when I’m in town. Truly unique!

Google
Stellar service and excellent drinks and awesome unique menu! Totally awesome experience!

Google
This place is awesome. Super nice people, really good coffee, tasty treats and a very comfortable atmosphere. In addition to their coffee, you can grab homemade ice cream or something else sweet like a peanut butter bite or a cookie dough bite. These small treats are good and certainly won't break the bank. The place is easy to find in convenient downtown Mesa. Seriously, add this one to your list. You won't be disappointed.

Google
I used to come here all the time in high school since my school was close by. I tried coffee for the first time here and their mocha will always be my favorite. They're always playing new calming music and every interaction I've had with the staff has been positive. The vibe is emaculate and it's a great place to study. Despite being in the oppostie direction of my college, I still find myself coming back here from time to time, and it never disapoints. Plus; I LOVE their pumpkin bread!

Google
The customer service is consistent and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The pumpkin chai latte is amazing and I can’t wait to try the pumpkin spice Oreo ice cream! My fiancé tries a different tea every time we visit and he is never let down. Great place to stop for a coffee, have a nice conversation with someone, or even study. Great coffee shop 😊

Yelp
The coffee here is amazing. Perfectly roasted, amazing bold flavors and the baristas respect that. They do not overly flavor the drinks with sugar and the coffee really comes through in all their drinks I've tried. The coffee shop is conveniently located right off of Main Street close to the library and other local shops and spots. The shop itself is casual and quiet which I love for reading or studying because of the booths, couches and table options. The girls are always so sweet and along the drinks very quickly. I say this to note, there is not a drive thru, but going inside may be just as quick!

Yelp
One of the things that I like to do when moving to a new area of town is to look for local coffee shops near home. I moved to Mesa not too long ago and came across Lost Dutchman Coffee House in my search. Downtown Mesa is a hidden gem with the Art Centers, restaurants and shops up and down Main Street. Lost Dutchman Coffee House is also on Main Street near a light rail stop in downtown Mesa. It is very well situated for the surrounding businesses in the area. Lost Dutchman Coffee Roasters sources and roasts their own beans. I like a coffee shop that offers a quality cup of coffee. The shop itself has a mix of tables, couches and high tops. I have camped out here a few times with a laptop and have enjoyed my time here and my coffee drinks. The menu at Lost Dutchman has all your typical coffee drinks along with some of their own creations. They also have smoothies and teas. Food and snacks include pastries and gelato. The gelato comes from a local company called Lombardo's. A coffee house with both espresso and gelato means that they can make affogatos. They offer that here at Lost Dutchman and can also make shakes and floats. The only bummer for me is that there are not late hours here for night owls like me. Lost Dutchman Coffee House closes up before the sun goes down. Lost Dutchman Coffee House has been a great find and definitely a place I would hang out again.

Yelp
Cool little coffee shop in Downtown Mesa! Service was amazing, Lucy and Payton assisted us and they were the best and super friendly. The coffees are great and there's an assortment of pastries and breads to snack on if you wish. My caramel macchiato blend was just what I needed. Loved it! On a scale of 1 - 10, I'll hit this place again for sure, just for the service alone.

Eric G.

Yelp
Great coffee shop, featuring a hip interior with inside and outdoor seating. Regular and specialty coffees. The americano was perfect. Some baked goods, including some croissant sandwiches which they will heat in the oven if you want. I had a sausage / English muffin which was tasty. Service was friendly and on point. Dog friendly business.

Christa K.

Yelp
Coffee delicious. Vibes sweet. Baked goods selection very impressive. We got some iced lattes. This is where my Dad likes to get green beans for roasting at home. Great, friendly service. Seemed like a hot local spot with lots of seating.

Kassie L.

Yelp
This is a cute slightly shabby little spot in downtown Mesa. The vibe was more Flag than Phoenix. I got a house coffee and the banana bread. The barista was friendly and efficient. The price point is low compared to the chains. My banana bread was tasty. My coffee was okay though the first sip burned my mouth so badly I won't be enjoying anything else I eat today:( I'd come back but I'd put an ice cube in my coffee next time.

Monica O.

Yelp
Since moving in the area I have become a fast favorite of Lost Dutchman Coffee, such a cute lil coffee with plenty of seating. I love that they have cute lil specialty drinks and daily specials, some great looking treats in the display for your sweet tooth and even ice cream if that's your thing. I have tried many coffee creations at Lost Dutchman and right now my favorite is a cherry latte, didn't know how I would like cherry with my coffee but this just works out great! You can also get a loyalty card stamped each time and before you know you worked your way to a free coffee! If in the area go give them a try!

Angie G.

Yelp
Coffee and baked goods are good but the star of the show is the gelato. The rocky road one is delicious! Chill atmosphere, good to study and relax. Service is fast and fairly priced payed around $21 dollars for two coffees, pumpkin bread and a small gelato.

Javier P.

Yelp
The coffee here is really good if you can ignore the rude baristas.. was here on Tuesday June 25 and ordered a coffee that was never called out and just sat there for who knows how long. And the sandwich I ordered was forgotten about and I was laughed at by the baristas/ cashiers when I went back to go ask about it.. doesn't seem fair to be laughed at over a mistake made by the employee.. overall a bad experience considering they were being nice to everyone else and I was the only brown person in there. Will add that the place was very slow and empty at the time too

Eddy R.

Yelp
I had no issues, the coffee was splendid, and the staff were friendly. I will definitely come back if I'm around the area.

Charlotte G.

Yelp
Was downtown Mesa to meet a friend who went to the farmers market across the street. I stopped in to grab a coffee. The staff was attentive and helpful. My order was ready pretty quick. Taste great and as expected. We were there for a bit. My friend ordered as well, her coffee was again, as ordered. She said it was good. She also tried a cookie ball (I think it's called) she said it was sweet and yummy lol. The place had a constant line of customers coming in and out. Staff was busy. They had mentioned that they were short staffed but I hadn't noticed anyone with any problems. It's a cute coffee shop. If your downtown and looking for somewhere to stop, give this place a try.

Noah S.

Yelp
I have visited so many coffee shops in Mesa, and I truly believe this is the best coffee spot in Mesa. The coffee is fantastic and the seasonal flavors are always incredible. The staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is very cozy. Previously, my only complaint was the food selection, but recently they've added and improved food items and I would definitely contribute that to giving them 5 stars. I will continue to frequent this shop, and rack up those reward coffees.

Bailey L.

Yelp
Lost Dutchman is a favorite of my husbands, so we frequent there for a weekend visits or when we are strolling through DT Mesa. Usually it's the same thing, ice coffee or a chai. They have a couple different chai flavors, which I appreciate because some are sweeter vs spicer and I enjoy getting an option! Or, when I'm feeling spicy and espresso affogato with their gelato! This is where the lost star comes in to play. The gelato has been awesome or it has been icey and flavorless. Hopefully it was a one off and I'll still continue to visit and give it another shot when the occasion arises. Overall it's nice to be able to bring the whole fam and find something for everyone. They have an extensive menu, friendly service and a laid back atmosphere with plenty of room to do some work or catch up with friends. They also have an outdoor patio you can take advantage of in the winter months.

DeAnne F.

Yelp
It's been a while since I don't work around here anymore. Stopped today and it's still as good as I remember. Iced sugar free vanilla latte decaf.

Haeley R.

Yelp
This has remained one of my favorite coffee spots in Mesa for a long time. Their gold rush is my go-to drink, and I always feel welcome. It's a very comfortable place and I love lingering at their couches or in one of their booths.

Jenna N.

Yelp
The most amazing coffee in Arizona. The 24 karat gold rush iced or hot is the way to go. Get it!!!!!

Andrea H.

Yelp
Cool place, great vibe, good iced Americano. Baked goods and ice cream sold too. Right across from Mesa Arts Center. Def worth a visit.

Rico M.

Yelp
I like coming here! It's a small lil coffee shop in downtown mesa and I've never had a bad experience there. This go around I had a pistachio latte and my partner had their snickers shaken espresso with oat milk. Both were good. He liked the hazelnut flavor while mine tasted like a good pistachio latte. I'd get it again for sure. We've always wanted to try their in house ice cream but are never in the mood for it... but it always looks yummy! Also their baristas are always nice and helpful, even if you don't know what to get they will always have recommendations!

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Working just a few minutes walk away, Lost Dutchman is my preferred coffee spot in Downtown Mesa. I come every Wednesday for the half off iced Gold Rush (a double shot of espresso w/ half-and-half and a hint or vanilla) which comes out to $1.84 (including tax). YES, $1.84!! I haven't tried too many other things but the caramel crunch latte and new Valentine's flavors sound intriguing! I have ordered a 16oz cold pressed coffee with almond or oat milk and syrup and it came out to about $5 which is standard. Admittedly service is not always efficient or speedy. Lately it appears there are new baristas and 1 barista training them both. There have been 1-2 times my Gold Rush wasn't made and I had to ask and no apologies were offered. Otherwise the baristas greet you with a smile and are friendly.

Sophia C.

Yelp
Coffee is bitter and tastes old. The girl taking my order was fine, not very customer service oriented. The shop is cute and would be nice to study in.

Darya S.

Yelp
Adorable atmosphere so I wanted to love it, but I thought the coffee was trash. It tasted like Folgers, Dunkin' Donuts, or some other first-wave commodity coffee that is not known for its quality. I didn't finish my oat milk latte, and left pretty disappointed. Would not recommend you spend money on their beverages.

Christine H.

Yelp
Don't be fooled, this coffee house is always filled with customers every time I've popped in. Their coffee is amazing! Strong and not burnt. I love that they offer oat milk here and it's creamy. I've also tried their bakery items and everything has been great so far. I really enjoyed the cinnamon churro cake :)

Natalie D.

Yelp
I love Lost Dutchman. It really is the perfect little neighborhood coffee shop. I love to grab a booth and work from here or come in with a few friends in the morning. They roast their own coffee and their selections are really great. They also have bakery items. Not much else to say, just a solid coffee shop in the heart of downtown Mesa.

Art A.

Yelp
I'm not exactly sure what other reviewers were saying about customer service issues. The barista's were nothing but wonderful. We visited to grab a bite, drink some nectar of the gods and get some work done. We really appreciate big coffees. They did not disappoint with the 32 oz iced beverage! They even had a special of buy one mocha, get one half off so we jumped on that! The space is warm and cozy... wifi good and we had no issues plugging in to make sure we didn't run out of juice in our laptops! Having to get a key for the restroom wasn't an issue for us. In most downtowns we have been in, a lot of establishments have secured restrooms so that undesirable folks don't use them if they are not patronizing the business. As an former police officer, I actually appreciate that! The only disappointment was food. They only have a small case of baked goods where we would have preferred a breakfast sandwich, but that's ok. We did get the coffee cake and a slice of pumpkin bread. Both were dry to the point that we couldn't eat them. Maybe it was because of the holidays so they were sitting longer than usual? Anyway, we enjoyed our time here and would come back, eating breakfast first! :)

Alliyah G.

Yelp
Gold Rush is there speciality of espresso made with double shot espresso, half & half, and vanilla with added butter pecan syrup for a sweeter taste. Although, this coffee comes in one size, it was MORE than enough to keep me awake throughout the day! It was the perfect bittersweet taste with a chocolate aftertaste. The coffee house was very spacious with different options in seating: booths, couches, tall tables, and outdoor seating! Definitely, a great environment to study and snack on there delicious pastry options! For more coffee review, go to https://www.instagram.com/p/CgE-ZUjLcJl/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop - I tried the ham and cheese croissant which was good. The coffee was tasty and they offered lavender syrup which I love

Dennis H.

Yelp
It's a coffee shop that reminds me of 1970's shops that popped up in small renovated buildings that looked as abandoned as the rest of the neighborhood. Obviously, the lower rents allowed coffee roasters obsessed with quality and bringing unique origins and tastes from around the world of coffee flourish. Now the Lost Dutchman Coffee Roasters may have been a lower rent area when it first opened, but it's location in the gentrifying Mesa Main Street corridor is unassuming but easily accessed via off-street parking or the light rail. The interior is a warm, cozy space with tongue and groove wood paneling and two love seat couches. The service is prompt and welcoming and may they help you learn more about fine coffees that you never thought you needed to know. Skip the Star-bees and experience a truly honest passionately roasted and brewed, non-corporate coffee, pastries and house-made ice cream shop. And don't miss the Lost Dutchman lore on the walls and try their house-made ice cream. I wish I had found this place sooner.

Peter H.

Yelp
Average at best. If I really wanted semi-average coffee I would rather go to Dutch bros and wait an hour, at least they would have better attitudes. I ordered a coffee 30 minutes before going to pick it up and got attitude because the princess behind the counter didn't have time to look at the online orders. First and last time there. I'm sorry you don't like your job lady, maybe find another, don't take it out on a customer.

Ciara B.

Yelp
Great coffee place for a date or to study. Not too loud and plenty of seating. The coffee was really good too!

Zach S.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee shop in DT Mesa right now! I got a drink with a good add-on with one of their PB bites and it came out to the same price as one drink without add-ons at another spot on Main. Plenty of seating for a small coffee shop to have group meet-ups and the barista was friendly with talking about recommendations.

Abigail A.

Yelp
Pretty good coffee, and you can get the option to purchase green beans to roast at home. I would have given them 4 stars, however, the last time I was there, the employees behind the counter weren't wearing masks, though they clearly had signs up saying people needed to wear masks, which I always do. Another unfortunate customer service experience I had was that I once had to wait a long time to order because the employees were hanging out in the room to the side of the cashier area chatting. There was no other customer in line and I was the only one in the room. The first couple times I came here, everything was great, but the last few times I've been here unfortunately haven't really lived up to my previous experiences & expectations. They have a large assortment of coffee and non-coffee items. They also serve desserts, ice cream and pastries. I do appreciate that their coffee doesn't taste burnt and that they add just the right amount of syrup flavoring that doesn't make your drink too sweet. Coffee: 4/5 Customer service: 3/5

Anthony M.

Yelp
So... the coffee isn't bad. A bit overpriced but who isn't nowadays? I do have two issues with this place. 1st( Hours. They are never open for first cup of day no matter what day of week it is. Kinda an issue. 2. The register. Business that use this square cash processing stuff know good and well it is awkward for the customer to be asked for a tip before you even make my coffee. Isn't a tip for AFTER? Dont give me that to insure proper service nonsense. Thats what the price I am paying plus the added tax at the end of purchase is for. Also, If you're just pouring a cup of coffee why do you even DESERVE a tip? It has LITERALLY been the reason I have not come in a handful of times.

Otis I.

Yelp
Simple toasted bagel and coffee ... better than Dunkin, etc. bagel was fresh and warm to touch.... Only downer is you have to put on your own butter- which is semi- frozen to the touch.... Parking on site and location is a plus ... across from Mesa Art Center.... ... Ambulance is pretty cool... Outside seating, and even a dog bowl... Inside warm and cozy: a good place to do work counter space is ample... Separate tables and two booths.

S V.

Yelp
I had the Coconut Thai Tea and a pastry. It's a great spot :) Unique menu, too. Service was so pleasant and the ambiance was 5 stars.

Makoto H.

Yelp
This place interior was so comfortable, with lights inside, and it was nice place to chill and talk, good coffee dates or hang out place for evenings I will come back here again.

Derek P.

Yelp
This is my favorite local spot to visit on the weekend. The atmosphere is chill and calming, the service is always great. I love getting the cold press with pumpkin and cream

Mason F.

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop. Their mocha hits the right balance between sweet and still tasting like coffee. Super friendly staff and just a cozy environment. Great place to hang or do some work. Awesome tiramisu (when it's available) and sandwiches too.

Jessica C.

Yelp
Our experience here started off great, but beware of customer service... The lady behind the counter was very nice by greeting us and giving us suggestions, but then we waited about 15 mins to find out they had forgotten our drinks. They seemed agrivated that they thought they already handed out our order. They didn't apologize for their mistake, and what made it worse is they told us to let them know sooner next time! It doesn't matter if the coffee is good. I know we will never set foot in this establishment again. There are other many great coffee places around here. Period.

Nora N.

Yelp
Lost Dutchman is a good solid local go-to for caffeine! Nothing super fancy but charming in a laid back way. Staff is friendly and efficient , never have to wait long and they get it right. Low key and just right for meeting a friend for tea or coffee.

Rae C.

Yelp
Kinda like what the pre-review says before you start typing, this place doesn't look like much when you walk at it, in fact I've walked past this cafe so many times, acknowledging the sign and never going in. I'm a bit disappointed that I waited so long to try this place. It's pretty adorable inside, slightly darkened, nice place to relax/ lounge/ study. I tried the Thai tea and my husband tried the chai tea. They were both amazing. The Thai tea, at first, wasn't mixed up enough (which isn't a complaint) but when I took my first drink, it didn't seem potent enough. The more I mixed, the better it got. However I do believe it was a little lighter / less potent than others I've tried. It still ended up being so amazing though. My husbands chai was very good as well. Just your basic chai but delicious nonetheless. Definitely give this place a try if you're in downtown mesa. It's also nice that they have a parking lot in front of their building in case you wanted to walk down Main Street!

Raviance C.

Yelp
Highly pissed off I will never come back she messed up my order on purpose wtf is so hard about getting a order right idiot. Then tried to tell me what I said

Kyndra K.

Yelp
This place has so many options, I tried their caramel crunch latte and it was great! There was a bunch of seating, couch's, tables, and booths. Awesome for studying or work! It was all decked out in Halloween decor and super cute! I will definitely be going back when I'm in the area!

Sheri D.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place. Great coffee, friendly staff, cozy environment, good tunes.

Chris H.

Yelp
Location, location, location! Lost Dutchman Coffee House gets business not because it has great service or amazing drinks. Customers come because it is the closest coffee shop to many of the city buildings and has a small parking lot out front (a luxury most Main Street businesses do not have). I guess those two things translates into not needing to care as much. It is very hit but more miss with this place. Drinks are pricey for what you get and the staff has an attitude more often then not. Also, the bathroom has an odd smell to it... There are ALOT of other coffee shops in Downtown Mesa that do it better. I suggest going to one of them instead but if you have a caffeine emergency Lost Dutchman will do.

AZ N.

Yelp
I hate to review somewhere that I haven't tried their products, but SERVICE. What's the purpose of having hours if you're going to close before them?! I could understand if it was an emergency, however we arrived 10 minutes before close (6:30) to grab coffee.. I could see the girl inside, however she locked the door before closing. I even attempted to call before we drove all the way over there from Gilbert, but no answer. Would have been nice to save my time of driving out of my way to go there if she just answered the phone.

Abby A.

Yelp
This place is so unprofessional, the owner is an asshole and has no idea what he is doing. The coffee tastes like shit and the customer service is atrocious. I absolutely would never ever go here again and neither should you. Don't waste your time or money.

Paul K.

Yelp
So i admit that i'm a coffee snob...or better stated - an espresso snob. I mostly fix my own because the majority of coffee shops can't pull a decent shot. I was in downtown mesa on business and thought is would try Lost Dutchmans - when i walked in and saw the Victoria Arduino lever machine, i was very interested - this one is not for novices. I had a macchiato and it was very drinkable - i will also say that you should have ground the coffee finer - but this was certainly in the realm of being a great shot - and I don't think i have had any better in phoenix. This is a serious coffee place - if you like just great espresso

Efren M.

Yelp
The best coffee doesn't justify the worst service!! It was our first and last visit due to a rude barista. Dutch bros doesn't have their selection but they know how to retain repeat customers by their emphasis on service.

Denise C.

Yelp
We visit here every time we are in Mesa. They have excellent hot and cold choices. Service is friendly and the coffee never fails to delight!

Jillian G.

Yelp
Great coffee and environment. The barista was so friendly and this was my first time there. I had the pumpkin chi. Yummy!
