Osteria della Corte

"This small restaurant with 17C stone walls and exposed stone arches also boasts a courtyard for summer dining, while the delicious yet simple cuisine focuses on fish and seafood. Rich flavours are a must for chef Silvia Cardelli, whose classic dishes include spaghetti with seafood and Tournedos Rossini. There’s also an excellent selection of wines (700 labels), with interesting recommendations provided by the sommelier." - Michelin Inspector

The restaurant will be a wonderful choice if you want to try great cocktails as well as seafood dishes—all the ingredients harmonize and complement each other nicely. Unfortunately, if you are vegan like my girlfriend, it becomes more challenging, as this is clearly not the restaurant's specialty. However, it was very pleasant when a very polite and discreet waiter asked if we enjoyed everything and suggested trying another dish from the vegan selection. Later, we were also served a complimentary dish from the chef. And before we left the restaurant, the waiter gently helped my girlfriend put on her coat- very gentleman! The service is truly top-notch—it's a pity that tips can't be included in the card payment and must be left in cash, so be prepared for that.

Google
Food is tasty for sure according to my taste, physical environment is nice, but service manner is cold, seems no one is willing to serve the customer in a smiling face. If only taste is needed, could try, but if need both taste and service, may not be the best option based on my experience. By the way, dessert cookies n cream turned out to be too sweet

Google
The food was excellent. I ordered the grilled octopus and the shrimp pasta, and both dishes were delicious and well-prepared. The flavors were spot on. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making the dining experience pleasant from start to finish. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the prices were on the higher side. While the quality of the food was great, it did feel a bit pricey. That said, if you don’t mind spending a bit more for a quality meal, I would definitely recommend this place

Google
The appetiser red prawn carpaccio was impressive. Ordered duck breast and pistacchio semifreddo for main dish and dessert, both decent but not exceptional. The staff is friendly, but we expect a Michelin-starred restaurant to provide a more attentive service, such as offering refills of water and wine without guests needing to ask for them. p.s. Thanks for the restaurant’s reply correcting me that the restaurant is not starred (just on Michelin Guide), perhaps the above is exactly why.

Google
Every dish we ordered was excellent. Incredible quality and freshness, for a reasonable price. Wished we live in La Spezia - we would be back every week.

L’Osteria della Corte Every dish was outstanding—top-notch quality and freshness at a fair price. Highly recommended for anyone who visited La Spezia.

It was a great experience with delicious food. We got to eat the local cuisine and wine.

Google
The place is beautiful inside and outside. The food it’s an other story. We’ve tried the pasta with garlic oil and shrimp it was good not Woww but good. The beef carpaccio was too seasoned with balsamic vinegar that over powered the taste. We then had the duck it was bad almost like it was washed out to remove all taste then thrown in red wine sauce and the foi gras well it shouldn’t be served. Waiters had an attitude when I asked how food was cooked and even worse attitude after I returned the plat (we sell it a lot so it cannot be bad - really?!)

Yelp
5/5, really good food and wine. Walked in without a reservation, and they said they could squeeze us in, but we'd only have about an hour and 15 min to eat. We were perfectly fine with that. Went with the tasting menu, which was 6 courses. The waiter explained everything, dish, wine, even told us where the olive oil we were dipping our bread in was from. All in all, it was very nice, great value, great food, and great service.

Yelp
Food was phenomenal, the portions was great, presentation was top notch, the taste - out of this world!!! Service was a little slow with 3 waiters rotating but we are in Italy, take ur time to enjoy the wine, chat a bit. Outside dining was ok, not much to say here but white linen tables and a backyard setting, probably music or white noise to block out neighboring tables conversations would be great, otherwise I really didn't come here for the ambiance but more for the unique taste that this resto and their chef creates. Would I come back? Definitely, one of the best places I've had dinner in Italy!! Don't forget to order the dessert/ tiramisu was fire!!

Yelp
La Spezia is a pretty small town so if you're passing through on your way to Cinque Terre and only have time to eat at one place, GO HERE! We had a delightful experience. I ordered the smoked gnocchi and my boyfriend had the rabbit tortello and both were delicious. There was an extensive cocktail menu and we each had two cocktails. They were all made perfectly and you can see that the bartender was creating them with care. We ended the meal with the tiramipiu which is their version of "tiramisu but better". I'm not normally a dessert person but I could eat this all day.

Yelp
The food and ambience were outstanding. I had the pasta stuffed with rabbit and a carrot flan with a Parmesan sauce to start. Both were excellent.

Yelp
When walking in the restaurant you are greeted with a cozy ambiance with decent decorations. After I sat down and ordered my drink, I was brought bread and only given a small plate of olive oil. This was not enough to finish the two baskets of bread I was given. I ordered the mezze maniche with parmesan cheese, egg, and bacon. The presentation was nice, but the dish was mediocre in my opinion. The flavor was good, but the saltiness and over the top amount of bacon took over the dish. I was only able to finish half. Pricing was decent, a bit expensive for the service of the waiters. They only checked up on us periodically so it was hard to get another drink. I would recommend this place to someone who wants more of a steak meal or meat, and hope that my next visit will be better.

Yelp
Yelp said this was the best restaurant in La Spezia, and I have to agree. We wanted some dinner when we arrived. It didn't open until 7pm, but the staff of in a reservation for us. They have a large garden patio in the back, which is definitely the place to be. By the time we were half way done with our meal, every table was filled. As to food - typical stuff you will find all over this area, but just taken up a notch. We started with drinks from the adjacent bar - the Siesta is a fruity rum drink. I had the tomatoe soup, which had garlic ice cream and cod pieces in it. This was superb. Follow up with the maltagliati - super wide noodles served with a great sauce. End with pastacchio semi freddo (little balls of ice cream). Beginning to end, this was an awesome meal. You may only be passing through LA Spezia on your way, but this restaurant is a reason to stay for dinner.

Yelp
We had dinner here last year and thoroughly enjoyed everything so we made sure to book a reservation when we were there in September. The food is full of flavor and prepared with care. L'osteria Della Corte is a step above most restaurants in the area. Last year we ate inside the restaurant which was nice, this year we had dinner in their garden patio which on the warm evening was perfect. If it's nice weather, ask for seats in the garden patio. Onto the food, we started with a couple of delicious pastas. The smoked gnocchi with scampi and spring onions and ravioli stuffed with eggplant Parmesan. Both were fantastic and good portions. The main courses were also excellent. Huge grilled prawns were tender and delicious. The whole local fish was deboned and came with potatoes and vegetables. A major yum for both entrees! We were full but decided to share the "deconstructed" tiramisu which was fabulous. A bottle of Vermentino was great with the meal. Service was friendly and casual, you take whatever time you want to complete the dinner. Our server was also a big help picking out the wine. We have been to L'osteria Della Corte twice, excellent each time and hope to return again next year!

Yelp
Fabulous restaurant! Has been open more than 15 years. It's owner operated. His wife is the chef. What a team! Signed up for their cooking class. The owner met us at the train station and walked us to the market in la spezia. I was amazed at the fresh catch! We bought mussels and fish and shrimp etc. we took it back to the restaurant to prepare. We learned how to make stuffed mussels, parchment baked fish and seafood risotto. We prepared all the ingredients too. It was so fun. After preparing our food, their waiter served us the coursed meal. They were not stingy with the water or the wine. Very pleased w the offerings. They also allowed us to choose one dessert each, and surprised us with an additional dessert! After our huge lunch, we toured their property. They have a neat wine cellar down in the garden with lots to offer. Looks like they do tasting parties there. Their outside dining area is in the back and it's private. There are beautiful plants all around. The bathroom is clean and spacious. And they offer all kinds of supplies like bug spray, tampons and lotion. The restaurant is decorated with new age art and mementos of their kids, like the dessert menus. Overall, an excellent place to learn, eat and enjoy your time. The owners were so kind to print us the recipes and take pictures with us. Had an amazing time. Thank you!

Yelp
Are there tonight. Food was good, but dinner ruined by nearby smokers, after we asked for non-smoking Also two dogs nearby barking through our meal Sorry won't be back

Yelp
We ate at 4 Michelin's over the past few weeks, and this would rank at the bottom of the pack both in terms of food & service. Ambience - really nice, brick walls with modern bold colors and artwork. Sadly the terrace wasn't open yet, which felt like a kiss for the gorgeous May weather. Food - pasta was okay, but nothing special compared to the price. They had some local, organic wines that were so so. Dessert was solid but nothing is dream about, and my plating was very unflattering. Service - our main water was nice, but awkward and quiet. The head manager was super snobby to us, but much better to the coupe behind us and we heard him explaining dishes in detail in English. This would have made a huge difference in helping us decide what to order and better appreciating what we were eating.

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner and it was amazing. As we were waiting outside a local told us it was the best osteria in the city and he was not lying! The garden/patio where you eat is beautiful, the staff are amazing, and the food was incredible. Everyone at the table got the tasting menu for 60 euros and every dish was great. Extremely fresh seafood, local ingredients, and beautiful plating. The staff was very friendly and the overall service was perfect.

Yelp
Absolutely delightful time at a charming restaurant and for the amount we ate and drank it was amazing that we could get out of there for a little over $200! The biggest hassle started and we sat down I couldn't decide which one of the cocktails to have only wish they could make them without alcohol so I could sample 10. We were offered a delicious wine pairing. While I generally don't order a steak when I go out, I asked for the recommendation and went with it and couldn't be happier that I did. It was perfectly seared and rare, but the real game changer was them wild way they were able to cook the onions on top. I don't have a good description maybe something like par boiled onion fries? It was awesome and had a mouthfeel set apart form anything I've had. Desert had a delightful presentation and variety of flavors!

Yelp
Amazing service with a patio perfect for a nice evening. Highly recommend the fish and veggies for a starter. Ravioli was really good too.
google avatar

Yelp
Besides having an excellent dinner with great recommendations. Their service is impeccable and friendly. I had the spaghetti with shrimp and my husband had the paccheri both delicious! We had an excellent Pinot Grigio and a Tiramipiu to end our meal. Would definitely recommend if you are staying in La Spezia! Make reservations as the restaurant is very small and many locals eat here.

Yelp
Too delicious, thanks to our wonderful hotel staff who made our reservation, we ate in the back... Highly recommended, just have a bit of patience and enough time as they are solid booked with not enough staff, but nonetheless they are wonderful.

Yelp
We are pleasantly surprised by the superb service by this restaurant, we enjoyed the atmosphere and food. From the vinegar, olive oil, bread, pasta, fish ....... we find them perfectly prepared. We were little sad to leave town tomorrow and could not go there again until next visit to La Spezia.

Yelp
We went there on our last day in Cinque Terre. Very well homemade pasta and seafood and loved the ambience and great wine. Hot day out but cool Vibe inside. I would certainly check them out again. The main reason I gave them 4 is because the dessert didn't meet the high European standard. I'm certainly a dessert snob.

Yelp
Wonderful lunch while in port of La Spezia. Nice stroll from the drop off point at the port. Just one block off the main pedestrian shopping street. Michelle had the "special pasta with crumbled bacon, poached egg and cream. Rich and yummy. My house made ravioli with peas over a red sauce was exquisite. Paired with a Tuscan white wine. Truly the highlight of our day in La Spezia
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Well worth the brief walk. Recommend cheese plate. They split a meal for kids, no charge. Best part was the flavor of sea bass ravioli and calamari in glass. Fresh herbs, authentic taste of Italy.

Yelp
Amazing services, the staff was so nice and flexible since I had my baby; the chef made him a special meal. Had the eggplant appetizer which was Devine and for dinner the cheese ravioli. Tiramisu desert is a must

Abraham J.

Yelp
Absolutely splendid. The food and service makes you to just continue eating and drinking. LoveLy family restaurant and you feel the warmth throu the evening. From appetizer to desert a feast

Yelp
I had both lunch and dinner here the other day. Loved the fresh langoustine. Clams were slightly sandy. Shrimp cervice was fresh and delish. The only restaurant that I've eaten in the past 2 weeks that actually took the time to clean the veins. King crab was delish and had a nice crust on it. the splash of balsamic made a big difference. Cod with bacon and mash was good, but slightly dry. Risotto was ok. I asked Andrea to pair my main course with a bottle of the 2007 Bruno Giacosa Falletto, I got the pigeon with foie gras and shaved white truffles. I was blown away how well they paired and thought that it was a match made in heaven. Really glad that they 'get it'. The wine was only 60 euro, about half the price of what I paid in Barolo. A very unique and memorable meal. Little wonder why it's rated a 'best value restaurant' in La Spezia by Michelin. Will return again and drink all of Andrea's Barolos.

Yelp
We had a small meal here while staying in La Spezia. The muscle and clam antipasto was so good. My friend and I each had a glass of white wine, which were also delicious. Make a reservation for the outside patio especially if you are going on the weekend because they get busy. Grazie mille!

Yelp
We stopped by for dinner during our first night in La Spezia, a city that seems to lack wi-fi. Thank goodness we were able to locate L'osteria Della Corte because this was possibly the best meal we had in La Spezia. Before our starters even arrived, I was diving into the bread basket (well, it was on a dish) like I haven't eaten in days. They were soooooo good. The exterior was baked to the crisp and the interior was warm and soft. They were bite-sized as well so you can easily become satiated from the bread alone. It was one of the best breads I have ever had in my life time! Not even exaggerating! I witnessed other customers asking for dish after another and was tempted to do the same, but had to save room for my pasta. In hindsight, I kinda wished I had more bread b/c the two pasta entrees we ordered (recommended by our server) didn't amaze us. Mine was broth-based and blander than a chicken-noodle soup gone wrong. The sea bass ravioli was decent, but still missing something. What we CAN rave about were the scallops we had for appetizer. I literally licked the plate clean b/c they were SCRUMPTIOUS! They were simply prepared and cooked to perfection, bit seared on the outside and soft inside. To add to that, the restaurant was beautiful and service was pretty satisfactory. Hopefully you visitors will stumble upon this restaurant and experience it for yourselves!!

Yelp
Fantastic spot for dinner in La Spezia. Visiting from NYC, a few friends and I were staying in Vernazza and decided to venture outside of tourist-heavy Cinque Terre proper. The food AND service were amazing and totally lived up to our expectations. Standouts included the cheese plate, smoked gnocchi, pork entree, and desserts. Wine pairings were on point as well. Hands down my best meal in Italy!

Kevin D.

Yelp
Visiting from New York City. Very friendly staff. Great food. Reasonable prices. Tried to leave a tip for the exceptional experience but the waiter politely refused...'next time' he said I'd definitely go back Kevin

Yelp
We didn't realize how late it was (2245) when we walked in, but they quickly set a table for us and sat us down. The food was amazing. The cheese platter was also delicious. Plus the staff is very nice and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
We stayed 4 days in the Cinque Terre area and our lunch in Spezia was our best meal by far. Excellent food selection for the family and a great wine list. Make a special trip and visit this restaurant. We will definitely come back again.

Yelp
The steamed cod was excellent best to make reservations as is a small.place great service good prices

Yelp
Really good food. Professional and friendly service. They happily prepared a simple pasta dish (not on the menu) for our youngest. Not the cheapest place in town but worth it.

David F.

Yelp
Incredible. The food the white glove service and the food. Tuna with cipolla Rossi agrodolce spaghettini aglio olio with gamberi and the homemade bread.

Shirley D.

Yelp
While traveling between Florence and Genova I stopped for a couple hours and had an amazing meal. I ordered a salad and a tuna tartar which was exceptional. My partner ordered the Branzino with mashed potatoes which was even better. The meals were fresh and prepared just right. The decor was also fun and relaxing, and yet sophisticated and modern. I would go there again in a heartbeat! This is a place not to miss.

Marilyn V.

Yelp
This was a wonderful restaurant. The food was so flavorful. Portions were generous but not overly so. Pricing was good too. We were treated very well. You MUST make reservations, otherwise you will be politely turned away. Will be returning.

Yelp
We were recommended this place by a cab driver (who also gave us an entire history lesson about the region which is quite fascinating). In fact, he even called the restaurant to see if we could get a reservation on a Saturday night. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated right away. I recommend sitting outside in the garden area. The menu was simple, but food selection was exquisite. For appetizers, I chose the oysters and my date chose the scallops, which were both perfection. For the main course he ordered the ravioli and I had the pasta with clams and chili. I recommend both dishes. We ordered a beautiful bottle of wine and enjoyed our food, the ambiance, and the company. In fact, we enjoy it so much we went back on Monday night. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because the service wasn't as good on Monday night. The food was impeccable though, and the wine choice was even better than the first time. I highly recommend this place and will be going back on my next visit.

Yelp
Beware of this RACIST RESTAURANT!! We went to this restaurant for dinner around 8:50pm as it was close to the hotel we were staying at. All tables except for one were empty, so we expected to be seated right away. However, after seeing me the waitress showed somewhat awkward behavior and just said to wait a minute, and went to the back and whispered something to a man, probably the manager of the restaurant. Afterward he came and told us in a very arrogant way that they were fully booked, although it was quite empty and quite late for dinner time!!! We were very confused, but later realized that he didn't let us in because I was asian. When I searched google reviews of the restaurant I saw a review of another person who had the EXACT SAME experience as I did. When we passed by here on the way back to the hotel after eating at another restaurant, I could see that it was still quite empty, which proved that he had lied and was being a racist. I couldn't believe this kind of racism still exists, and it was a very upsetting experience. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT SUCH A RACIST RESTAURANT.

Yelp
We ate at many nice restaurants in Milan, Venice, Florence, and Nice during our trip from USA in 2014, and this restaurant simply blew them a away. Cannot put into words the value, but the outright quality and family passion here surpassed all other more expensive places for us.

Syd H.

Yelp
We visited in July, the height of the tourist season, finding it on yelp. We weren't aware it was a Michelin Guide favorite. Although we had no reservations, (highly recommended to make them) they greeted us warmly and seated my husband, daughter and I at a beautiful table on their patio. All of our menu options were delicious as was the wine and dessert. I had the ravioli which was spectacular, my daughter had black cod, also exceptional. They would not accept tips, even though we pressed them. The meal for 3 was not inexpensive, and we didn't expect it to be for such a wonderful, memorable meal. There were no taxis available at 10:30pm when we left, so the owner got his car parked blocks away, and drove us back to our hotel! This meal would have been hundreds of dollars had we enjoyed the same thing here in Los Angeles. It was the best meal we had in Italy where most of the food was wonderful. Can't wait to bring the rest of the family back!
