The Biggest Los Angeles Restaurant Openings in August 2025 | Eater LA

"Arriving in Fullerton on August 11, this major Japanese-Korean fast-food chain brings its first U.S. location after decades of growth. Founded in 1972 by Shin Kyuk-ho in Japan—its name a portmanteau of Lotte and cafeteria—the brand topped 100 locations by 1977, entered South Korea in 1979, and now counts 1,300 stores there and more than 1,600 worldwide. It’s best known for unique fast-food staples like marinated bulgogi burgers, shrimp burgers, fried chicken, and the Jeonju Bibimbap Rice Burger served on gochujang-seasoned rice patties, and it’s known for tailoring menus to each market, so local exclusives are likely." - Mona Holmes

Inside the First U.S. Location of South Korea Fast-Food Giant Lotteria in Orange County | Eater LA

"The first U.S. outpost of this South Korean fast-food chain opened in Fullerton on Monday, August 11, drawing crowds eager for its famous shrimp burger. The menu pulls K-burgers from the South Korean lineup, including a bulgogi burger with a bulgogi-seasoned beef patty and a bibim rice burger that swaps in rice buns and adds a fried egg with tangy gochujang sauce. There are rice bowls topped with sliced bulgogi and gochujang or chopped sweet-and-spicy chicken, plus fries on their own or loaded with the same meats. Signature Shake It fries and crispy chicken arrive in a paper bag with onion or cheese seasoning meant to be dumped in and shaken. Dessert is bingsu in a cup layered with red bean paste, fruit, chewy rice cakes, yakgwa, and misugaru. Prices mirror other Southern California fast-food spots, with the bulgogi burger at $6.49 or $12.77 as a combo and nothing over $16 before tax. The site offers indoor seating and a drive-thru, marked by a cartoonish big-eyed burger over the door, Korean lettering and “The original K-burger” on the facade, with red-and-yellow accents; inside is minimal but inviting with a few four-tops and cushioned banquettes. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., it’s a convenient Orange County stop near Anaheim for a different kind of burger experience." - Rebecca Roland

South Korean-Japanese Fast Food Chain Lotteria Opens Its First U.S. Location in Orange County | Eater LA

"A major Japanese-Korean fast-food chain’s first U.S. outpost has arrived in Fullerton, debuting August 11 with limited hours and a wider grand opening on August 14. Founded in 1972 by Shin Kyuk-ho with its first location in Japan, the brand grew past 100 locations by 1977, expanded to South Korea in 1979, and now counts roughly 1,300 stores there and more than 1,600 worldwide. Known for unique fast-food dishes such as marinated bulgogi burgers, shrimp burgers, and fried chicken, the name is a portmanteau of Lotte and cafeteria. The Fullerton location hasn’t announced a full menu yet, but Instagram teases the famous shrimp and bulgogi burgers alongside the Jeonju Bibimbap Rice Burger served on gochujang-seasoned rice patties, while fan favorites like fried chicken (both by itself and in sandwiches) and mozzarella sticks will likely make appearances. The chain also tailors its menu to its location, so Southern California-based lovers should watch for Fullerton exclusives." - Rebecca Roland

I had to stop by this newly opened Lotteria in Fullerton, CA — this is the burger spot I grew up with in Korea, so I was excited to try it again. The shrimp burger, bulgogi burger, and flavored fries were all spot on and tasted just like I remember back home. Super nostalgic! The only downside is the pricing. The bibimbap burger was almost $10 just for the burger, which felt a bit high — and the flavor reminded me a bit of Shin Ramen, which I didn’t expect. Still good, just different. Overall, I’m really glad I got to enjoy Lotteria here in the U.S. without having to fly to Korea. Definitely worth checking out if you miss Korean-style fast food!

Restaurant is kept very neat and clean. The outside eating area right next to busy street maybe not so much enjoyable. Seating inside was not designed for comfort almost like on purpose. Food came out quick and nice. The shrimp burger was the better of the 2. The bulgogi deluxe burger was very sweet almost too sweet, flavor was good though. The shaker fries with the onion seasoning were very nice. Not sure if the lemonade was the 5 calorie kind, if not water was the only other low sugar option. The pricing was a bit high, other than that, it seemed like it attracted a K-pop crowd, and I saw several sons bringing momma into eat, very nice. Had the cheese shaker fries and the rice burger, rice burger fell apart a bit. Also a bit more crowded on Sunday afternoon, people hovering for table. We asked for more onion shaker seasoning and they said $.53 please. When we got to table both our onion and cheese seasoning was missing. Argh.

The shrimp burger was delicious,it tasted exactly like the one I used to eat in Korea, with a satisfying crunch and great shrimp flavor. The Rice Burger was excellent because it offered a simple and convenient way to enjoy bibimbap. However, the Bulgogi Burger felt like it was slightly lacking—I can't quite put my finger on what was missing, but it was a little disappointing. Since the burger sizes aren't very large, I recommend that two people order three different types to try them all.The store is clean and tidy, and the restrooms are also very clean.

Lotteria Fullerton is the first U.S. location of Korea’s famous fast-food chain, Lotteria. I tried their signature items — the Bulgogi Burger, Rice Burger, and Shrimp Burger. The Bulgogi Burger features a sweet and savory Korean-style beef patty that really captures the taste of authentic bulgogi. The Rice Burger uses rice patties inspired by Korean bibimbap and has a slight spicy kick with a hint of sriracha flavor. It’s a fun and unique option, especially for those who enjoy K-food. The Shrimp Burger is similar to McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish, but made with shrimp as the main ingredient, giving it a lighter, seafood flavor. The fries are nicely salted and tasty on their own, but you can also ask for seasoning powder to sprinkle on top. Prices are similar to other fast-food chains. Overall, it’s a great place to stop by near Fullerton if you want to experience a Korean-style twist on classic burgers.

I visited around lunchtime on a Saturday. I heard that the line was long for a while after the grand opening, with waits sometimes taking two hours just to order. Fortunately, there were no longer such long lines, and there were tables available both inside and outside. I ordered Lotteria’s most popular burger, the Bulgogi & Shrimp Burger, as a to-go order and ate it at home. Maybe it was because it had been so long since ld had it, but it was delicious. However, I think Lotteria burgers might be popular with Koreans because they evoke memories of their past in Korea, but I felt like the taste of Lotteria burgers might not appeal to Americans, who are accustomed to American-style greasy burgers like Five Guys. Anyway, I’m glad Lotteria burgers are now available in the US, and I hope they continue to prosper.

Google
A much smaller menu than Lotteria in South Korea. I used to go there every week in Gyeonggi-do and there were numerous options of hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, bulgogi and shrimp burgers. The first American Lotteria has a stripped down, compact menu with only a few choices. The shrimp burger was decent, but not filling. Good service, very attentive staff on a busy Saturday. The food arrived quickly considering it was packed. Still, it's relatively expensive considering it is essentially fast food. Worth trying if you want an alternative to the usual burger places.

No long wait anymore, we entered at 6:14pm and got our food at 6:24pm so it was pretty quick! We loved the shrimp burgers the most, bulgogi and fries were good. Probably we won’t order the chicken nuggets again lol it looked sad. But overall it was really good! 100% would come back again.

Worth every penny. I always tried the fad restaurants just to see what the buzz was all about, like Raising Cane's, Chick-fil-A, and Five Guys ALL to my disappointment. So, I was gambling here while waiting in line. This place is absolutely amazing. The best way I can describe it is the quality is like In-N-Out (fresh, crispy lettuce comes to mine), but in an innovative burger/food kind of way. My friend and I got the bulgogi burger, shrimp burger, bulgogi fries, sweet n spicy chicken fries, and the bingsu dessert drink. I eat too much bulgogi at home, so I was a bigger fan of the shrimp burger and sweet n spicy chicken fries (my mouth is water just thinking about it). The bingsu drink is also a must. The customer service is fantastic. The employees gave us water and umbrellas for everyone waiting in the hot sun, and they were smiling and they were friendly from beginning to end. I highly recommend going here. It's a totally great experience. I probably wouldn't go again if I had to wait in a 2 hour line (during the soft opening), or any kind of line for that matter that's like In-N-Out and Chick-fil-A. Food is great and all, but it's never worth a long wait for me 😅
