Now back open which I’m excited about because the food is BOMB and the place is beautiful. Not much of a crowd since a lot of folks are not aware of their being open but hopefully that changes soon. I go on Sundays for the food. My girl Tay does her thing in the kitchen!! There is a jukebox for music, cash only establishment, and the drinks are reasonably priced

I drink Grey goose all the time and the liquor is cut to a point it gives me a headache off one shot and the taste is way off….. please leave the liquor alone you are not a chemist to dilute anything. The bar is nice and we expect you to have good liquor as well

Google
This was my 1st time back inside of Lou & Choo's since like 2021 or 22.. whatever the year was before the fire.. so it's been a couple years.. I must say that I was amazed by the newly renovated upgrades that were made on the inside... the food was great.. the drinks were made strong by the bartender who was very polite and I just love the atmosphere.. the new jukeboxes and big screen Tvs... but I must day that I will miss the pool room that is no longer there... overall I love the New Lou & Choos it's definitely gonna be my new HAPPY HOUR SPOT

Google
Nice renovations but this place is abound with “being cheap” that really is not appreciated: plastic /foam cups, diluted liquor, one bottle of ketchup for entire dining room, dirty vestibule, charging $1 for a takeout bag, awkward walk upstairs to place an order, menu items missing. Do this place even have whiskey like a legitimate bar would , or they only serve Philly “popular in the hood” fruity cocktails ? Prices are not cheap either. Food is mediocre. 40s-60s crowd with obnoxious hip-hop music of today makes place even more bizarre.

Google
This was a 20.00 platter one Coors Light was $5. For $25 I was not please. We gave a function there sold over 150 tickets at $20 a piece and this is what everybody's platter look like unbelievable . I will never ever go back there again .should I say we will never hold a function or visit them again.

Yelp
Went home for the weekend and discovered that Lou &Choos is renovated and revamped with that old-school Philly loveliness that I so miss. I got to enjoy a wonderful atmosphere, great drinks, and good food, along with some live music and a lovely crowd. Bravo Lou & Choos! Way to step it up!

Yelp
This place has come along way and for the better. New ownership and management is everything. It shows in every detail throughout Lou and Choo's basically is the same just refreshed. The downstairs is more open with a nice new bar floors walls upstairs great Decour play homage to history. upstairs has been refreshed as well nice with the floors clean Chris bar the kitchen is still in the same area but it's been refreshed as well. This is a great place as always to go to a fish fry with friends and family. Outdoors has a very large seating area, in the summertime there were great events held here. In addition so the upgrades the staff is friendly and more efficient. You have a few one off's that are terse but we have no idea how their day has been.

Yelp
This is a local neighborhood bar. The bar food was sub-par. I ordered catfish nuggets, but something didn't taste right ( maybe the grease). I saw a patron eating crabs that had no seasoning on them, but she said that they were good. Being from Baltimore, Old Bay seasoning on the crabs is a must. $3 for a bottle of water.

Yelp
Great place. Good is good. The stuffed salmon and stuffed catfish are must haves! Customer service can improve but overall the management it's great and amazing experience.

Yelp
Lou and choo lounge is stealing our hard earned money selling fish fry tickets they don't intend to honor. I spent 20$ for 2 fish fry tickets and stood in a Long line with other ticket holders for 1 hour and 15 minutes to get up to the kitchen window and have the staff say their remaining food was for cash holding customers ONLY. I paid cash for my tickets and so did my friend. They are scamming people who try to support their business and functions. DONT EVER BUY ANYTHING LOU AND CHOOS IS SELLING. Spoke with the owner Tracey Whitherly and other staff who shrugged shoulders and said oh well too bad they dont care, they already have our money go get something to eat elsewhere or give them 15 more dollars for a fish platter. THIS WAS MOTHERS DAY! THEY DONT RESPECT OUR MONEY OR US AS MOTHERS. DONT GO TO LOU AND CHOOS. TO CROWDED AND THE STAFF IS RUDE!

Yelp
Went there for the first time last Thurs. We wanted to hear some live music but that wasn't on the schedule. Food was good, service was excellent. My date was a little fussy and the staff did all they could to accommodate her. Good selections at the bar too. Decor was interesting.

Yelp
We just left and our experience motivated me to do a review. I saw on here the average was 3 stars and I just have to disagree. We came on a cold and rainy Sunday night. We went to the second level to order our food. You do need cash but they got an ATM. Long story short- salmon bites slap and I got a great amount of food and it was juicy! My husband got a burger (they didn't have what he was wanting) but he had no regrets- I have to back him up because I took a bite and was like damn! Delicious food, nice staff, nice vibe (mix of club and throwback music). Can't wait to be back in Philly to come here!

Yelp
Decent spot...old head vibes! Great food and drink specials. 50 cent wings every night. Affordable and strong drinks. Came on "Twisted Thursday" they had a lot of $5 drinks. Only complaint was that it was a nice size crowd but only 1 bartender. She was nice tho and apologetic. They take cash and cards. I can definitely see myself coming back.

Yelp
Came to Lou & Choo's while vacationing in PA, we went to the Friday nite all u can eat crab for $20- heyyyy!!! they had it set up outside which was pretty cool and trust me we ate a bunch of crabs. It was a warm nite and the music was flowing. The only suggestion I would have is to have lemons, the crab crackers and napkins on hand!! They ran out of napkins and the bar was not giving them up..smh. Karaoke was on point and a lot of fun. Outside of that it was decent experience,

Yelp
I believe this restaurant /lounge has potential, but there are some things they need to work on. When we walked in, we seated ourselves - which is fine. The bartender was really nice but it was very clear that there wasn't any communication between her and other staff. So first, we ordered our drinks - my initial drink I wanted didn't have available ingredients so the bartender suggested something else. I noticed they used a spout that measures the liquor? Whatever it was, we might as well had ordered regular juice because we barely had any liquor in our drinks - but I guess it's a plus that they didn't cost much. Now here's where our visit starts getting a little confusing. The bartender asked if we were ready to order and if we knew what we wanted, as soon as we started to answer she mentioned that we don't order with her but that we have to get up out of our seats, and walk upstairs to the other side of the bar to order our food BUT the server will bring it to us. My friend went to order our food and then calls me to tell me that the dish I ordered wasn't available because there's no salmon. Here's the kicker, about 85% of the menu are salmon recipes. So I was disappointed yet very hungry, and ordered something else. I asked the bartender why is most of the menu salmon and it's not available? She says "That sucks" this is where there is a lack of communication, why don't you know what's not available to mention to us? Then as I waited for my friend to give me my bill, they mentioned they paid for it already because it was cash only, we did not see any signs anywhere notifying patrons, but it's how they do things so...ok. So our food comes and the bartender comes and say "hey, I think she's trying to tell you that your food is ready and to come get it" as the server was standing at the top of the stairs holding our food, not even bothering to walk down (mind you, we were told they were gonna bring it) at this point we should have just went to the back and made our own food and carried it to the table ourselves because who is serving? There is some good to this review though, my friend and I both loved the catfish. It was amazing! The music was good as well, that's about it. I would definitely recommend this place as a quick to-go bite, but going in to sit and eat....just prepare yourself to work.

Yelp
I went for a fish fry event. The event was from 5 to 9. The crowd was older and a little more relaxed. Overall, I had a good experience. The food was good, music was nice and the drinks were strong. I would suggest to bring cash.

Yelp
I came to the all u can eat crab nite one Thursday. The lady in the kitchen asked me if I wanted butter and garlic, I said yes maam, they wouldn't be sauteed without them. The lady says "we don't sautee crabs" I said"that's what the card says..sauteed crabs... I went to the bar on the other side of the kitchen and asked for a corona.. the barmaid s said $5, I said, that's not what the card said, the card said $3 coronas.. the barmaid says.. I don't know nothing about not $3 coronas.. Uuugghhh!!

Yelp
This was my second time is this establishment. My experience was literally "Meh. I've experienced better." The first time I came here was about a year ago, and it was on a Thursday night. It was PACKED. They played my kind of music, and the drinks were moderately priced. I found parking easily, and there was a good crowd. This time when I went, It was a Saturday night. I did not know what I was walking into, which seemed to be an older crowd, with their type of music playing. We went in anyway. It was about 12:20ish, and it wasn't really crowded, definitely aimed towards an older crowd on this night. Upstairs was empty. If I return, it will probably be on a Thursday night, just to see if the crowd was the same as it was.

Yelp
I've been a Lou and Choo Bar & Restaurant Fan for over 30 years. It's a great neighborhood establishment that is clean, with good food and nice drinks. And the music, they have the best oldies D.J.'s in town! Largely over the years, it's been known as a spot where grown folk go. Then about 5 or 6 years ago, all of a sudden a younger crowd, started hanging out there. That's the only time I didn't like Lou & Choo's. But now it's back to being a "Grown Folks Spot" and I like that. If you like Dungeness Crabs, COME to Lou & Choo's. Trying to do an affordable fundraiser? Come to Lou and Choo's. You appreciate coming to a place where you feel safe, comfortable and can dance if you want to? Then come to 2101 W. Hunting Park Avenue, that's where you need to point you car. I like all their food, but the Dungeness crabs, broccoli, corn on the cob and a cold drink----ahhhhhhhh! I'm a church lady--- but every once in a while, I gotta get me some crabs from Lou & Choo's.

Yelp
I've been here plenty of times, They never hve no drink specials, & Sometimes it gets real crowded, In the Spring & Summer U can go & sit in the bck which is a good atmosphere, Some bar tenders, R nice, Some hve attitudeds, The Menu is okay, but they dnt hve everything on the Menu, I dnt like the fact tht U hve 2 go upstairs in the bckn& order ur food.....There drinks R very expensive 2 B a hood bar....I like tht they do hve Security.....
google avatar

Stephanie W.

Yelp
I have to go with the flow on reviews and say Lou and Choo's is just okay. I feel like they never have a drink special and their only appeal is that they service a more mature crowd. I definitely enjoy myself every time I come but their prices seem a little inflated. The food is pretty good, in my opinion but they never have everything on the menu.

Yelp
A charming little local spot. Mostly bar, part restaurant, part dance floor, part community center, this is a place where locals come to be. They catfish was great. It's nothing fancy, but it's a place for honest folk.

Yelp
This place had sub par food. And half good drinks depending on who the bartender is. To be a neighborhood bar in the hood the drinks were expensive and the service was eh. I heard that karaoke night Is the shizz tho. I have to go check it out.
