The place is Nice, the bartender was very Nice and took the food order. The food is not worth it, I got a Diet Coke, it was the worst Diet Coke I ever had 😂 Pork belly tacos were very salty and the garlic cheese fries tasted like that popcorn cheddar powder.

If you're after a legit burger and a classic old fashioned, do yourself a favor and find the one benign SF alley that leads you to Louie's. While other joints around town might flaunt their fancy tapas and tartares, bartenders like Dwight and Matt stick to the basics and serve what you crave, but better. My expectations were exceeded every time I got my drinks and food. And yes, you can still get a $4 PBR tall boy at this place, which is unheard of in this city. As well as montana-kentucky hybrids you've never known but are willing to try. Overall, hard work pays off at this dive that delivers on cold drinks, savory burgers, and fun atmosphere.

This place has the most delicious burgers I've ever had. Besides burgers, the rest of the food is also amazing. The staff is friendly and fun. They have a full bar with great cocktails. The ambiance is nice, but the only downside is that the restrooms are in bad shape.

Well let’s just say San Francisco’s top list of venues to visit, eat, drink and enjoy the hospitality. This is one more on my list of must experience for your self. Such a great experience and vibe here. The cheese sauce on the crispy fries is “amazing”! This is a house made amazing cheese sauce. I want to put it on all my future meals here.

A real find for us as newbies in SF. We tried House of Shields first (lovely but no food). They kindly recommended Louie's. The bar manager here is a star. She's kind, knowledgeable and has her picture on the menus. We had truly great beer. The surprise was a simple light order of potato skins and salad. Both crazy good and very good value. Wish we could have stayed all day.

Good thing about this is that we can just walk in and get seated without waiting. It was really empty and good music so far. Service was ok, the guy offered water and all. Food took a really long time to come out. Ordered kickin chicken, that was easily the WORST chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. Not only it was dry on the outside, those poor chicken also got really overcooked you can almost make chicken floss out of it. Not only that, it was so small compared to the buns. Oh my god it was disgusting. It was said that it’s supposed to he spicy, but boy was it dry and lack of flavor, no sauce, it’s an absolute, total garbage that belongs in the trash can. The tots were ok, the tomato sauce had some oil on the top like it’s old or something. 10/10 will not come back for food. Maybe the drinks.

Their system doesn’t seem to honor their advertised whiskey of the week price. I know it’s only 2 dollars, but if they are going to mess that up, what else is wrong?

Soooooo good! I had the Crab Roll. Absolutely delicious, great amount of crab and wonder customer service!

Dropped in for a quick date night meal on Friday. While the surrounding are (FiDi) is not particularly lovely on a Fri/weekend evening, Louie's bar was a fun and tasty place to grab a bite and drink. While it has a "divey" environment, the inside is nice, clean, and has more elevated food options. We started with the spicy guava marg and London fog; even though I'm not a fan of gin, the London fog's perfect creaminess made me enjoy the drink. The spicy marg definitely has a kick.. I got 2! For food, both the burger and Caesar salad with chicken were delicious. The real star though was the house-made citrus habanero sauce; perfect tart- and spiciness to douse all over my food. We also got the chefs special kungpao brussels; while the flavor was good, I wish the brussel sprouts were crunchier. Bartenders were attentive and I love the large tv playing sports. Next time we're back, I want to try one of their Saturday dinners which look/sound amazing!

It's always good to find a go-to spot for burgers and drinks, and I think I might have just found my spot! The Burger was delicious! Great patty (I got it medium-rare) topped with bourbon BBQ jam, arugula, and potato sticks. I added cheese (white cheddar) and a side of fries to mine. The fries were very crispy and tasty. One thing to note is that the bourbon BBQ jam tasted like it had some kind of tomato base, which is not what I expected when I ordered. With the cheese slice on top, it made me feel more like I was eating "chicken parm" (but burger) than BBQ. I probably would have liked something more like caramelized onions or mushrooms, but the bacon chunks in it were good. Prices are fair and service was good. I'm pretty sure they will see me again.

Very chill dive bar that we came to after going to the MOMA. It was lively enough with a good amount of people, but it was still mellow enough that you could walk in and get a table on a Friday night. The cocktail I tried was good, but nothing too special -- I'd probably just get the beers next time. The place had good snacking pub food like the sour cream and onion popcorn, garlic cheese fries, and potato skins. I don't come to this area that much, but I would stop by here again in the future!

Was recommended since we were hungry after our whiskey cocktail making class . Really chill dark vibe cozy spot . The burger and fries were good! The tacos were lacking the bulgogi flavor though . The spicy margarita was good . The price was decent ! Friendly customer service and spot all around !

Louie's Bar is the ultimate Friday night destination for a fun, energetic night out with friends or coworkers! I swung by for happy hour with my team, and we had an absolute blast. The drinks came out super fast--spicy margs, guava margs, and cucumber margs that were all refreshingly delicious. The apps were tasty too, and the packed, buzzing atmosphere made the night feel electric. Overall, it was a fantastic evening at Louie's Bar, and I can't wait to go back. Highly recommend checking it out!

I got the Potato Skins for $13 It was my first time having this! It comes with pork belly, cheese, quail egg, creams and chives. It was just an explosion of flavor! Each bite was so delicious. I loved the crispness of the pork belly, the popping egg yolk, and the cream. Make sure you get a little bit of everything on your fork and you'll get the perfect bite.

First time customer for lunch, but I've been here before for drinks. A very cool old school bar and friendly service from our bartender. We ordered the quail egg potato skins appetiser and it was great. I ordered the burger and a side salad. It was very good. I wasn't impressed with their beer selection. They do have amazing beer and shot specials.

Quality place to get dinner or drinks located in downtown SF. It's not off a busy street so may be easy to miss but definitely worth checking out if you're wanting to go out in the area. We went on a Saturday night and they had several good craft beers on tap (including a Chicago one I was happy to see) They had food, which looked good from all the dishes I saw (we'd already ate). The bartenders were all nice, and even poured us all a free shot before we left. Had a very cool vibe, and would highly recommend for people out of town looking for somewhere to go downtown, or for Bay area residents looking for a new spot to checkout.

When you ask your waiter where they like to eat, they will never tell you this is their spot. Serving awesome quality food til late. Friendly staff and chill atmosphere. Just what you need before bed. The tomato sandwich... man, that was good.

For a meal that is outmatched by none, flock to this alley way in Fidi every Saturday and grab the first available seat. The warm "below deck" vibes of the bar pair perfectly with a tall pint and whatever the chef has prepared for the famed "Saturday Supper". Outside of Saturdays, Louie's is acclaimed for its bar fair. So if you can't make it on a Saturday, an after-work happy hour will always suffice. In short, Louie's never misses the mark.

Friendly greeting and cozy ambiance. Cindy was so sweet to educate us on their tequila offerings and made great recommendations. Can't wait to come back and try the food!

Let's simply say that San Francisco has the best places to go, dine, drink, and experience the local warmth. I've added this to my list of things you simply must do. This place has such a wonderful feel and experience. The crispy fries' cheese sauce is "amazing"! This is a fantastic cheese sauce that was produced at home. I want to add it to every meal I eat from now on.

Not much has changed since 2018 haha! This place is still a great spot to come to after work and they still serve up some great bar bites. It still gets packed and it's loud! So if you're looking for a place where you can have a nice conversation, this ain't it. Great find for drink specials and snacks. The potato skins with the quail egg is *chefs kiss*

Loved the vibes of this dive bar! It was packed for a Monday and the bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable about whiskey! They have a whiskey of the week for $12 so I got to try the Frey Ranch whiskey which was great! Also seems like they always have pliney the elder available! They also have an amazing habanero hot sauce that I bought for a white elephant!

A good spot to check out a game after work! There are only two TVs so you could get unlucky if there are multiple games on at once that you're interested in. The menu is elevated bar food. The potato skins and onion rings were excellent! The chicken nuggets had good flavor but the sauce was very sticky so the pieces at the bottom were a little hard to eat. The cheese fries were also good but not spectacular.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Randomly found this place searching on Google for nearby bars to celebrate my birthday. Love the vibe and the staff were very friendly. I'd never know this place existed. It's tucked in a hidden street, that looks like an alley. Food is served here, but we had just ate so I didn't order any plates. Enjoyed the cocktails and did I mention the staff? Great people and great place to visit.

Even though it was pretty loud in there, food was extremely good! It was hard to find anything open pass 8pm in Financial District, so when I found this gem I was super happy! I enjoyed my burger a lot- amazing size patty, good meat, and good portion of fries. Also good for watching sports!

Decent bar with fidi prices, which shouldn't be surprising given that it's in fidi. Had a beer and a burger with some fries and it was a little over $30. The burger was fine. They asked me how I wanted it and even though I said medium rare, it ended up well done.

Hole in the wall-literally right next to the glaucoma center. You will miss it if you're not looking for it. Awesome dive bar vibes with upscale food. Two older dudes in the back absolutely killing the menu. Drinks were fair priced and the place looked extremely clean and well kept. Eric was awesome, 100% would return

Mid size bar, and it was packed. Had the Carne Asada tacos, which were great, just a little cold.

The bartender with the long hair had an attitude from the minute we walked into the door. He also refused to modify any of the drinks for us and also gave us an attitude and talked under his breath shaking his head when we proceeded to walk away from the bar, as if we were an inconvenience and not customers. THE BARTENDER IS A WEIRDO AND THE VIBES HERE ARE AWFUL!!

Louie's is legit! Seriously the best burger I've had in ages!! I had a meat burger with white cheddar and bacon. I was also impressed with the vegetarian burger my partner ordered. It was appreciated that the vegetarian option wasn't just another fake meat patty, rather it was a juicy thick slice of butternut squash. Both burgers were bomb AF. Do yourself a favor and order the cheese fries too! (drool) Seriously they have an impressive gastronomic menu!! They have an in-house made citrus habanero hot sauce that is so addicting. We picked up a bottle to take home. Bartenders were super welcoming and attentive. The old fashion cocktail I ordered was well made and straight up deliciousness. It was busy with a good crowd when we went but still able to snag a couple seats at the bar.

The drinks here aren't bad, but I got food poisoning. I suspect from either the wings or the tacos since the only other food I had were french fries. That sums up my experience.

What, went to a bar?! That's so NOT me... unless I'm out of town, see Oahu. So, what brought me here was a pop-up event of three businesses, one offering cocktails and the other two food (Gamsaan Cocktail Co., 2 x 4 Bbox, and El Chino Grande). Of course, I'm all about the food. After ordering a few items from El Chino Grande (https://www.yelp.com/biz/el-chino-grande-san-francisco), it was a stop around 5 pm on Saturday 9/25/21. As I worked my way to the kitchen in back, I was carded for my vaccination card and ID (yes, I'm me and over 21). My food was not ready, expected since they just opened the doors, so I went back to my illegally parked car and waited about ten minutes. As I left, I saw 2 x 4 Bbox's menu and ordered a couple of his salads and a couple snack boxes too. Not fair for me to review the food since it is not a permanent part of the bar. The bartender rang up my add on orders on their register so that was my only interaction besides the greeter. The feel and vibe is of an old time place with the main bar to the left and tables to the right. Not sure whether there is a downstairs area open to the public as I saw a set of stairs near the entrance. The location is less than a half block from the used-to-be bustling satellite location of the popular Yank Sing Restaurant; I noticed this driving past it on my way home. Hopefully, they will be able to sustain themselves until things open up and people are actually working in the buildings that surround them.

Louie's Bar is definitely more bar than food place. The food looks and sounds delicious from the pictures on Yelp, but lacks execution. Nothing really distinguishes their American style bar food from any other place, all sounding and looking much better than they actually taste. The bar itself is good with a pretty nice selection of beers but nothing makes it particularly stand out from your average bar. Maybe closer to a 3.5 but that isn't an option here, and giving it a 4 feels incorrect.

The pandemic has wreaked havoc on us all. San Francisco, imho mostly due to our leaders, has felt more of the brunt. The graveyard of restaurants is truly sad. Thank God Louie's has withstood the storm, masts aplomb, ready to serve once again!!! Hallelujah praise the Lard! Louie's Bar has been my go to lunch place for near 8 years. Cindy is one of my favorite bartenders PERIOD!!! YES. They are back open and the food, vibe, and drink are all the same....GREAT! Their burger is one of the best in the whole Bay Area ( I think as good if not better than Spruce!) Great onion rings, fries, Fried Chicken sandwich. Even the specials are excellent. Always great drink combos! Amazing selection of Bourbons, Beers, Whiskeys and the like. All the staff has always been super amazing to me. Highly Highly recommend you stop by for Lunch or a quick cocktail after work. I am sure they will get crazy busy again. Thank you Louie's and the Pour Guys!

I've been here a few times over the last year and it's been an excellent experience every time I've come. The bar staff is great and the whiskey selection is actually a lot broader than what anyone might think (and at great prices). The bar itself is very much a dive bar that feels somewhat hidden in an ally of the busy fidi district of San Francisco. Most weekdays are on the slower side of things, but when things pick up on a major sports game day, the bar is completely packed. Aside from the whiskey selection, the bar food is good enough to fill you up. The popcorn and bar nuts are the cheapest of menu options and make for good bar food. If you're a bit more hungry, the salads, wings, and tacos can hold you up pretty well. The biggest downside to Louie's is that they only open on weekdays, so trying to make a weekend trip is a no-go (apparently it's too slow in that area on weekends according to staff). But if you can make it on the weekdays, it's well worth it.

After a Giant's game last week, we were looking for some late eats and a final drink before calling it a night. We found Louie's Bar that was close to our hotel. This is a neighborhood bar that made a great burger and had an awesome bar tender. Tatiana was our bar tender. Great people skills. Great energy. Always moving with a smile. My wife and I split a cheeseburger and shared chicken tenders with Buffalo sauce. The cheeseburger was a well seasoned, handcrafted burger patty with a Bacon Bourbon jam. Wow! I loved it. The chicken tenders were heavily sauced. I liked them. My wife did not...you know what that means...more for me. This is a great local dive bar with good energy and a very diverse clientele. A great representative SF local bar with great eats. I highly recommend this place.

Great after work spot, but just know that the busy time is around 4. Good luck find a spot to sit at 5! Great food and drinks! Never would have thought cauliflower would taste as good as it did.

Honestly the worst service/attitude I've had in the city in a while. Both times I've gone, the bartenders are incredibly rude and short with you if you have a simple question or request they don't want to comply with. They lack tact and friendliness. I won't be back.

Tried a bunch of items (no drinks). The fried popcorn cauliflower was good. When eaten warm, it was crispy on the outside and tasted cheesy. When eaten cold, the cheesy flavor was more pronounced. The fried chicken sandwich was tasted like a bbq chicken sandwich. The chicken wasn't very crispy though. I tried a couple other small items (slider-was tasty, deviled egg-was okay, empanada-skip). Overall the food was pretty good. Bartenders were nice. I don't normally go to bars so the dining experience was interesting. It was really loud inside (music playing and other people talking). This isn't a place to go to have a conversation over a meal with someone since you will have to shout/yell in order to be heard.

Louie's Bar is located in a part of historic San Francisco on Stevenson, near the Salesforce Transbay Terminal. The signage harkens back to a time of the whaling days of the late nineteenth century. My 2nd great grandfather lived on Stevenson in the 1870s. I feel a kindred connection to Louie's. They have an excellent rotating tap beer list. My preference is porter or stout and Louie's is one of the few places I can get one in the heat of summer. They have an interesting food and cocktail menu, but I'm always in a rush to catch my commuter bus to the East Bay. One day, I hope to have time to try something besides the latest stout or porter.

Finally found a great burger in SF!! (it really shouldn't be this hard). Everything, from the quality of the meat (seasoned properly), the type of bun (potato pepper), and how the toppings complement each other (the jam is a great touch of sweetness and the potato sticks add nice crunchy texture, was simply executed well. I also suggest adding white cheddar cheese and a fried egg, if you're feeling adventurous. I came during a weeknight after work, and it was packed. They also have a lot of good, local beers on tap. A hidden gem tucked away from a busy corner of SF. I will be a repeat customer!

Their pozole is the best I've ever had. Everything on the menu is amazing (I've tried most of it). They do a great job with takeaway, if you're in a hurry.

BEST burger I've ever had!! Friendly staff, welcoming environment... literally looks like a "hole in the wall" from the outside, which is how I knew it had to be good!! Reminiscent of a pub you would find in London, super welcoming atmosphere!

This bar is SUPER welcoming and has a very friendly and attentive staff! They have a great beer selection and a few ciders and some seasonal drinks. I've been here a few times to meet up with friends who used to work around the area and it would get SOOO busy for Happy Hour. Because of the pandemic a lot of people have been working from home so it's not as packed and busy as before (which is a good thing). Their food selection is pretty good too! I normally don't care for Potato skins, but surprisingly this place made it fancy and super good! Would 100% recommend for a sharable quick bite! They do follow Covid protocols and like other bars and restaurants in the area they do check for your vaccination card and ID, they have a touchless hand sanitizing station at the entrance as well and you do have to wear a mask unless you're seat and eating/drinking.

This place has by far a really good burger. Great meat, cheese and bacon with an onion jam that worked really well together. Theres not much more I can say because it was really really good. The service was great as well. If you go make sure you have a vaccine card and an ID to match. They did check everyone in our party before letting us in. Id give you more if I had it but we all had the burger. And everyone thought it was great.

Louie's is my office's spur of the moment "let's grab one drink together which turns into 3 which turns into let's grab a bite and end up going home 6 hours later" spot. It's both conveniently and inconveniently located right outside the back entrance to our building bc it's also the Uber/Lyft pick up spot uBer/Lyft drivers can't find once it gets dark. Anyways on to Louie's itself which is great for lunch and HH drinks. It's generally busy at lunch time and after work until about 8pm when it begins to slowly empty out. The crowd is mellow and a good mix of folks that work close by and also interesting people to interact with. We once had a girl call my coworker back into the shared bathroom just to tell him to put the seat down for her and another time a complete stranger bought me a shot and gave me his number despite my best polite efforts to decline. Guess I can say I know what it feels like to be a girl. Bartenders and cocktail peeps are always pretty friendly and they have TVs and play NBA games so yay for that too. Pros: Good drinks, food and a comfortable busy vibe for HHs Cons: Can be difficult to find a table or spot to chill with a group but worth it if you find one.

Rolled in at 10:00 pm on a Monday after a 5 hour flight. There were roughly 20 people in the place, 15 or which were at one long table in the back. Acoustics aren't the best as the group was loud. I sat at the bar and ordered an IPA from the list of about 20 draft beers available. I ordered a burger and fries and it was very good. I'm from the south and had never tried the beer Pliny the Elder and enjoyed a bottle before departing. The service was good throughout my stay at Louie's. I definitely recommend this place.
