We had our company’s Christmas party here and the food was amazing. We were given a Lobster 🦞 upgrade to our meal choice (Filet Mignon or Salmon) and the Lobsters were massive. Sitting on the deck was great also to watch the boat parade scoot across the bay as well. The only bummer of the night was the valet - we got told when we arrived that there was no space and to go park across the street at Wells Fargo

Google
Food was amazing! Service was top notch. The chowder was my favorite. The steak is a must try. Nice place for a special occasion. Locals looked like they love it. It's pricey so please take note of that. The views of the water with the boats just added to the entire experience.

Google
A nice anniversary date, good food, great views and outstanding service. Ever was the best and the patio was a great choice.

Meghan Sullens

Google
Our service was phenomenal Cole was our server at the bar he made the best recommendations! Introduced us to new tequila and make a Long Island so good we came back multiple times! If you’re in the area try this place out!!

Google
Love all the food. Great service and atmosphere. Id definitely come back. Favorite dish was the shrimp pesto pasta. Giant shrimp thats perfectly cooked.

Google
I so rarely write reviews, but Louie’s Eggs Benedict gave me food poisoning today. I’ll start by saying the place is beautiful and service was great, but the second my eggs Benedict touched the table, I could tell it wasn’t going to be good. It looked as if the hollandaise sauce had split. As soon as I took my first bite, I tasted the most bitter taste I have truly ever experienced. I took a second bite to confirm, and it had without a doubt spoiled. I informed the waitress and had the plate removed. About 7 hours later I started to feel funky and… you know the rest. I’ve never sent a plate back like that, nor have I ever experienced such an obvious, poorly handled dished. I’ve been paying the price handsomely. I would not risk eating anything here that needs to be handled with any amount of care.

Jennifer Groot

Google
Our company Christmas party was held here! It's probably the best filet I've ever had! The chocolate torte was pretty disappointing. It was hard as a rock! On the other hand, the tiramisu was so good! Our server picked the very best wines!

Google
If you’re a seafood lover combined with Italian in Orange County, this restaurant is a must try! The decor is rustic. It almost feels like entering a Big Bear getaway. I was here for dinner but I’m sure during the day it’ll be a whole different vibe with the dock views, etc. Service was great, the person helping us out was on top of all the service specials and was very attentive. The Eggplant Parmesan is a must try for appetizers. The mains were good for the most part. They had a seared scallop on special. Also tried the pesto pasta with chicken which was bomb. The chicken parm is not what I would highly recommend. We really wanted to try the Lobster Ravioli but they had sold out. Will definitely come back for more.

Yelp
Their brunch is good and not a lot of people know about this place for that. Bottomless is an understatement and the service is great! Beautiful view!
google avatar

Yelp
Service was quick and servers were nice. Food was mediocre for the price, but I guess it's the location! Bay front with a great view. The short rib hash was too greasy and other dishes were nothing special to be honest! Went for brunch but maybe lunch/dinner offerings are better.
google avatar

Yelp
First time dinner. Food: Scottish salmon - previously frozen, did not cook well, didn't finish it. Lamb: covered in a sauce, not sure if this was to mask the flavor or badly seasoned lamb. Our server was kind of pushy, wasn't pleased to split a check, took beverages away without asking - my friend still had beer in the bottle. You need to have cash for the valet which we had but that may not always be convenient. Overall don't have a desire to return.

Yelp
My experience overall was just average. Nothing about the food was amazing that would cause me to watch to go back. We ordered the spaghetti bolognese, rib eye steak, seafood linguine and baked lasagna. Our appetizer was bread and fritto misto. Our seating was in the patio was great though. We got there around 8 and so the sun was barely setting and the views were fabulous. Service was very nice. Their team was very attentive. The location is very nice to find and all parking is valet.

Heather B.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful restaurant with water views. Great wine list & plenty of specialty cocktails. Excellent menu with lots of variety. Top notch service!
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
Parking is not free, you have to Valet for $9. Menu price is expensive. Not a reasonable brunch. Decor is nice though. Shrimp Pesto Pasta comes with 5 jumbo shrimps, I had requested the dish be split to share. It was good and quite filling Fritto Misto had a lot of calamari. I was hoping it would have a good amount of all 3 appetizers choices. It was zucchini, shrimp and calamari. The dipping sauce was nice. Service from all staff was great. Sergio was our server, he was nice and went over the menu great. Overall, it was nice but not happy about menu pricing and the portions was small, then the required valet parking fee is too expensive just for a lunch date. There wasn't much that sounded special on the menu and so I wouldn't come back because nothing that I loved so much that I can't get some place else.

Yelp
You come here for the view first. Great view of Newport Harbour. Service is top notch as it should be at a locale like this. I'm not a Charcuterie expert but it was good and the portions were huge. Everything was delicious and good. Filet was tender and cooked perfectly. Would eat here again.
google avatar

Yelp
Great harbor views. We were seated right away. Attentive staff. The food is very reasonable compared to other restaurants that are right on the harbor. Mac & Cheese - Great 14oz Ribeye - Nice cut, seasoned well and cooked to ordered temp. The broccolini that it was served with was great. Very tasty! Spaghetti Bolognese - Excellent flavor! Tiramisu - Delicious Delicious food, great service, excellent value and a spectacular view!

Haley R.

Yelp
Louie's is an amazing place to enjoy a handcrafted cocktail and an elevated classic dish. Service is always kind and attentive, with servers excited to collaborate with you to find what plate is best for what you're looking for, that along with their beautiful decor and marina view, makes Louie's By The Bay a great place for a sunset dinner.

Shelby P.

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience here! Food was a 10/10, the view of the water was peaceful and beautiful, and our server, Gil, was so kind and attentive. Already looking forward to going back!

Maggie W.

Yelp
Nice bay view and services, but very plain Italian food. Quality of food needs to be improved otherwise, it's not worth it.

Yelp
Great spot for a date night if you're looking for water views in Newport. Service was great and very attentive. We had a reservation at 5:30 and we got there a little earlier and they seated us right away! Food was amazing also. I got a filet mignon while my partner got the pork chops! we also ordered broccolini, onion rings, and Caesar salad on the side. Their espresso martini was on the darker side but oh man it tasted so good!! Def recommend this place :)

Howard R.

Yelp
Excellent food and very caring service. A filet mignon as good as it gets! Andy our server offered a personal touch non existent these days. The filet mignon was tasty and perfectly cooked with a peppercorn and horseradish sauce on the side. The Caesar salad and fritto misto to start were excellent as well.

Yelp
If you enjoy a great atmosphere, wonderful service, good food and a wonderful view of the Bay. Well, this is where you should go to have a nice dinner or at least a drink or two at their sexy bar. Again we brought our own wine , $35 corkage fee, not bad. The service alone is worth it. We enjoyed the spinach and pear Gorgonzola salad.( big enough for two people to share.) we had the sautéed mushrooms with the ribeye steak, which was very delicious. I think we overdid it with the blue cheese on top. They have plenty of booths and tables on the inside very comfortable seating . The seats that they have outside on the patio which is pretty large area unfortunately have metal chairs without cushions. This is a very dog, friendly people, friendly restaurant . The music is low and so is the lighting. It's valet parking , however, there is plenty of street parking.

Yelp
We wanted to explore Newport Beach restaurants along the water... Louie's was our 1st choice!! And we were not disappointed! There is both inside & outside seating, the views are beautiful. Service was great! The Hostess & bartender were so friendly, waiter very knowledgeable about all dishes. We had crab cakes, Garbage salad Shrimp penne pasta & Clams with linguine, all delicious. Defiantly returning!!

Yelp
Excellent Five-star Italian fine dining, ambiance, service, and the most beautiful harbor view!!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this spot for happy hour. Wonderful view, good selection of items on the menu and lots of seating at the bar. The charcuterie was a little disappointing with only one cheese and some not tasty tapenade, but the meatballs were very tasty. I especially love it during the holiday season--so festive and cozy. Service is usually pretty good. Had a bartender that was a little aloof, but food and drinks made up for it. Parking is valet only.
google avatar

Kelsea K.

Yelp
Back again for happy hour! Featuring the Dirty Martini and the Old Fashioned. We ordered nearly everything from the Happy Hour menu. - The Petite Garbage salad? A fresh twist with vibrant flavors that hit the spot. - Mini charcuterie board? Decent for sharing, but nothing beats the full-sized experience. - Fritto Misto? A personal fave, combining shrimp, calamari, and zucchini with a kick of spicy marinara. - And of course, the meatballs, a timeless must-try. For my main entree, I ordered the side of Cacio e Pepe. It looked so good the girl next to me asked what I ordered and she got one for herself as well! It was pretty busy, but still easy to find a spot in the bar area (great service as always) The perfect spot as the days are staying brighter for longer on the water!

Yelp
I love this restaurant. Such a vibe! I've been here a few times with my friend for dinner and drinks and just recently for happy hour. There is valet parking out front and all of the host, servers, bartenders go out of their way to be friendly and remember you. The bartender knew my friend's order by heart and another busser even greeted us that we chatted with on our last visit. This restaurant is great for lunch, brunch, happy hour, dinner. The charcuterie plate is the best, we love the combinations of meat, cheese, crackers and accouterments that make the plate shine (honey, jams, truffle oil, olives, nuts, etc) The fries are a must, perfect crunch and their house ranch is out of this world, even the bread and butter is to die for! My friend always ordered the martinis and they are massive (great pour) and well priced. I had the vodka soda with lemon lime, and previously I've had margaritas. The view is stunning across the harbor looking out at the boats and the interiors is upscale nautical. We always make friends with the patrons and workers alike here, such a great place for locals to meet! We will be coming here for years to come.

Yelp
The setting is modern but wooded. There's a peep-a-poo view of the bay because the huge yachts docked there blocks much of the biew. The waitress was ok but nothing to talk about . I was surprised at how chewy the filet misnomers since I had a much more tender tri tip at a fraction of the price at the Stonefire Grill 2 days later. The French fries were crispy and good however. Only valet parking.
google avatar

Danielle P.

Yelp
Absolutely charming! I have nothing but good things to say about Louies. The ambiance is cozy and inviting making it perfect for a special event or just a night out with the hubby. We absolutely loved our server Corey. He was appropriately attentive and gave great suggestions on food. The beef gazpacho was mouth watering. The entrees were equally good. If you enjoy a tiramisu, you will love Louies. Thanks for a great evening!
google avatar

Johnny L.

Yelp
The food is horrible and service is okay. Overpriced and menu is dated. Spending $500 was not worth it!
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
Food and service were incredible tonight! Had the crab cakes, wedge, rib eye, lasagne, and short rib ravioli...., all were excellent!!! Tiramisu and Cheesecake for dessert. What a great night!!! Andrew made the night exceptional with his great service and constant attention !!!
google avatar

Shannan E.

Yelp
Edder was the best bartender. He made us the best cocktails and was so kind and accommodating. The oysters were so fresh and delicious: We had the best experience because of Edder. Thank you! We will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Dined mid week and valet parked the car. Menu was mostly Italian with pasta dishes. We had the meatballs for appetizer and they were huge, heavy and not my fav. Served with large pieces of garlic bread. Fornthe entree I got the cacio de peppe ( pasta with black pepper sauce). The portion was large and it was very rich, but not very spicy/peppery. We had wine to drink that was good and the view was nice. The wait staff was okay. Nothing over the top attentive. Sorta seemed like she couldn't care less. Overall I didn't think the food was memorable or very good. Took forever to get served food too. We paid $10 for the valet. It should have been $9!! Outdoor dining is available but it was cold so we sat inside. Water view from the dining room but at night it isn't much to look at. Like the cannery things more about location than anything else.
google avatar

Courtney M.

Yelp
The food was great, the cocktails were great! We got to sit by the window and watch the most beautiful sunset. Our server did a really good job answering our questions and getting everything that we needed. He was very informative on the pasta dishes he had some great recommendations all in all it's definitely worth eating at if you find yourself in Newport CA.
google avatar

Melika J.

Yelp
Went Christmas Eve and everything was spectacular. Waited around 10 minutes to be seated, had a second row seat with an ocean view. I had the cacio Pepe and halibut and tiramisu with gelato; it was delicious! My waiter was attentive and the experience was A1.
google avatar

Robert N.

Yelp
The shrimp cocktail was decent with fresh tasting shrimp. The oysters were hit and miss, some tasted decent other were borderline not fresh. The eggplant parmigiana was good. The 16oz dry-aged ribeye was nicely crusted and perfectly medium rare, but is it worth $85? I personally don't think so. There were lots of fat and a lot of silverskin that should have been trimmed beforehand. It took quite an effort to trim all that away before you can enjoy the steak. The house chianti paired very well with the ribeye. The service was excellent and attentive. And of course the beautiful afternoon sunset view of Newport Harbor is just awesome. Overall, the food is decent, no major wow factor with some hit and misses (oysters), decent service, and great view. Total bill came out to be $236. Oh and you'll have to valet ($9 plus tips).

Ray M.

Yelp
Had a very disappointing experience here with takeout a few weeks ago. For the pasta dish, it was basically all sauce--just a few small pieces of pasta. And the scallops risotto was bad as well. Scallops were fine, but could not eat the risotto because it was under-cooked. Of course once you are home with the food it is too late. Very odd because I had come here with a party in December, and it was great. Tasty food and big portions (which was why we later ordered takeout). So this place can have excellent food but they need to watch the quality control.

Jim F.

Yelp
I had a great experience. We went with a party of 6 and ordered enough dishes and shared them so that everyone had the opportunity to taste all of their finest offerings. Also, the wait staff performed admirably. I am not sure how Yelp knew that I visited Louie's, since I didn't take my cell phone with me. It didn't get closer than a mile away.

Aimee D.

Yelp
Comfy and cozy! Bradley gave amazing service. Just a couple of newly weds celebrating an early valentines and it was so nice. Thank you!
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
This place is right on the bay. It's a high-end restaurant and the food is amazing. Everything I've ordered off the menu which I've went several times now is great. I recommend the meatballs for an appetizer and the lobster raviolis are the best if they have them, it's a great view and the staff is great. I've always had great service. I highly recommend them.
google avatar

Sharona M.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to trying this place out. Upon arrival, it is valet $9 only. We went to the host stand and told them we had a reservation at 5 pm. They told us to wait a few mins. It was kind of weird because people went up to the host and said they have a reservation literally right after us and they were seated right away. That was the first red flag. After we finally got seated, I asked about the happy hour menu and the server said that it's only at the bar. I wish I knew that before I waited for our seat. We walked over to the bar and sat on a high top. It took a while for a bartender to come and ask if we wanted to order anything. She never offered to bring us water until we asked. We placed an order for a drink. After that we had to wait long time in order to place any food. Once we finally got a hold of the bartender, we placed an order for the happy hour sliders and charcuterie board. As you can see in my picture of these were large portions. That's the only redeeming quality. Once we were brought the food, we waited for the bartender to bring us utensils and napkins. A couple minutes went by and nobody ever came. We had to get up and walk to the bar to ask for them.. enough said. We were going to order more but we got the check and left. Some of the worst service in town. Yikes. Waste of time and money. We left and ate somewhere else.
google avatar

Susan N.

Yelp
Fabulous service and very attentive. The restaurant overlooks Newport Bay. Very cute and cozy. Well kept restaurant. Service was top notch! Food was fantastic. Fresh made. Every dish was very delicious and carefully made. The oysters were Fanny Bay. We ordered the Fritto Misto, oysters, risotto, and the veggie quiche. All were tasty. The Fritto Misto is a must get! The batter on it was perfectly coated. The zucchini was so fresh, crispy, juicy but there were only 2 pieces in the plate! Parking is only valet. The dining area was very organized and well kept. I would definitely come back again. Service was phenomenal. You will definitely enjoy yourself!
google avatar

Stephen H.

Yelp
First time dining there and I love it. Service, food and ambiance were great. Definitely I'll come back again
google avatar

Erica B.

Yelp
Tried this for the first time and absolutely loved it! The bolognese was probably one of the best I've ever had and the service was great. Birthday dessert was also great! We sat outside which was lovely since you are right next to the water with a view of the Newport harbor. Unfortunately there was a bar/beam that went across that happened to be at eye level which blocked our view. May be a better view if you sit inside but close to the outside. Would go back for the ambiance and food!
google avatar

Frank L.

Yelp
Valet was incredibly rude and tried to charge $60 because after eating dinner here, I walked next door to Billies for one cocktail. Their explanation was they thought I left the property. Billies is in the same parking lot and is run by the same valet. I was next door for 30 min. They refused to give me my car key and charge me the fair amount. Luckily I had a Tesla and could use my phone to get my car, but I argued that what they were doing amounted to theft. After arguing with valet and the manager they eventually agreed to charge me the original amount ($9) and gave me my property back. Be careful parking here and do not expect reasonable treatment.
google avatar

Alireza N.

Yelp
A not so hidden gem! It's located on a busy street and next to popular bars and boat rentals, but at peak hour, the locals and respectables arrive and the vibe is different. We sat outside on the patio with a beautiful view and excellent service. The food was devine and the cocktails were crisp and delicious. We ordered the caprese, meatballs, and crab cakes for apps, the steak, mushrooms, scallops, cacio pepe, and chicken parm and everything was excellent. We had some wine and blue cheese olive martinis, again, excellent. And our server suggested the dessert trio, and we were in heaven. I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Honey B.

Yelp
Excellent service, cocktails were supreme and the risotto with scallops was absolutely delicious! Looking forward to returning.

A L.

Yelp
Great pasta (house made!), great service, great ambiance! It is on the pricier side, but it was a special occasion. We also ordered oysters and a wedge salad. I wasn't too much of a fan of the mignonette (strong- I prefer it on the lighter side), but the oysters were fresh.
google avatar

Craig S.

Yelp
We had a great time at Louie's and will absolutely dine here again on our next trip. Great spot, with a view of the bay. Excellent food and service. Nice thing is, if you arrive early before 5PM and dinning is not open yet, you can grab a drink at the bar and wait to be seated. The biggest issue for me, the lasagna portion was large and I ate all of it!!! Lol! I could barely walk out. Atmosphere has a cool casual vibe that is coupled nicely with fine dining. Excellent job Louie's Team! See you soon!
google avatar

LaWanda T.

Yelp
Elegant and Cozy! Definitely worth the distance, coming from the northeast part of OC‼ Second time enjoying Louie's by the Bay! Our first visit was for my daughter's 13th birthday in September. She's been asking to return every since... Today was the dayMichelle "The bartender" remembered us " Felt like Cheers" she was polite and welcoming, even remembered my daughter's famous Virgin MargaritaThe food matched the service, top notch! Our waiter Andrew "Andy" added the extra warmth and attentiveness to us felt like a friend a very nice guy‼hopefully we will be seated in his section on our next visit. Definitely try the Pistachio/ Pesto penne pasta with shrimp "my daughter's favorite" and Cacio e Pepe was my favorite! It was sharp but delicious... YOU MUST try the Butter Cake!
google avatar

Judy D.

Yelp
I loved sitting outside enjoying the bay view, best part of this restaurant. Food were delicious.
google avatar

Ricki K.

Yelp
The hostess Rachel had a terrible attitude and was uninviting. The restaurant in general has nice ambiance, but the food was less than mediocre. Some food was overcooked, some undercooked. You get the picture.
google avatar

Shareef V.

Yelp
Great place to enjoy a steak by the bay. It's not pretentious but feels a bit old in terms of decor but what it lacks in modernization it makes up for in charm and food.

Michael N.

Yelp
I love this place - great layout and view, good happy hour and excellent food. Currently #1 in my Newport/Huntington Beach Italian Restaurant power rankings - can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Marycruz S.

Yelp
It really makes a difference when everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Chef Caesar took the time to come and have a chat and really made us feel welcomed. Shout out to all the waiters, servers and cooks working so hard it is very noticeable! Food was delicious will definitely be returning !
google avatar

Mark T.

Yelp
Great restaurant by the Newport Bay Area. Parking is valet only. Interior has 2 full bar areas and a wine wall. There is a wrap around outside patio with a perfect view of Newport harbor. Food is delicious. Ordered Ribeye steak ($58) and Linguini with Clams ($28). The Ribeye was thick and juice. The mashed potato was the most cheesy and creamy ever. The clam linguini was fresh and good, but slightly on the bland side. Service here was fantastic. Quick and attentive. This restaurant is great for special gatherings with friends and family. Would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Food, service and views! What's there not to love about Louie's? Great happy hour in the bar and the guys behind the bar are awesome. Such good food & times! They also serve Dos Boots Mezcal!!
