Louie's Ham & Corned Beef

On Monday, June 30th, my grandparents and I visited. I ordered breakfast (turkey sausage, hash browns, and eggs), and they had a corned beef sandwich. On Wednesday, July 2nd, my 82-year-old grandfather went to eat the leftovers from my meal, only to find maggots crawling out of the sausage. I’ve never been more disgusted. We immediately had to deep clean our refrigerator and kitchen. This has caused us stress, nausea, and concern about our health. My grandpa, who’s 82, said he’s never seen anything like this in his life. To make matters worse, during our visit, I asked for plastic utensils because the silverware they brought was wet, and they refused. This experience was absolutely unacceptable. It’s clear the food handling and quality control here are seriously lacking. I truly hope the health department investigates, because no one should have to deal with this. Total waste of money and a threat to people’s health.

My wife and I stopped in Louie's for lunch for the first time and the soup and sandwich were delicious! Great service and they were busy at 11:00am.

Went for their famous corned beef. Got the Reuben sandwich no fries. Couldn't see any rye on my rye bread let alone taste it. Not grilled in the traditional sense as it was dry. Thousand Island dressing was runny, lacking and tasteless. Corned beef was delicious. Service was excellent even though the place was packed. Clean inside and plenty of natural lighting.

The corned beef was okay. I’ve hade better, this was more dry. Definitely not worth the price. Kind of crazy to be charging the prices with no fries and over a $1 charge for a piece of cheese? 3 people had a very basic food order with only 1 side of fries and it cost over $50. The service sucked. Server left our food at the window for so long my bread was soggy. Probably won’t come back and wouldn’t recommend.

I was out enjoying the city with my partner and running some errands and we got hungry as one does. I drove past and the singe caught my eye. I made a qick turn and we deicide to go in and get a table. Unfortunately for us they were closing however the hostess let us know that we still had time to order takeout. We split there classic sandwiche and it hit the spit. It was enough to tied us over till we got home. We will definitely be going back to sit and eat eat in.

Louie's has great service and delicious food!

I went through the drive thru, ordered a couple of omelets which came up to 42 dollars and some change, I ordered some extras on my omelets which made it a bit more pricey. Got home started eating, about four bites later I find some hair in my omelet. It was good until that moment money wasted.

If you love ham or just a really good, quick breakfast, this is THE spot!! The place is tiny, but they get food out so fast that the wait is never long. Waitresses are always friendly. I have nothing but good things to say. TRY THIS PLACE!!

A Eastern Market Detroit Classic, oh yeah Mega Omelette . Got the famous Louie's Mistake Ham, corned beef, green peppers, onions, and cheese with triple thick Rye Toast. Totally blown away couldn't eat it all. We shared a bowl of marvelous Cheddar Broccoli Soup a winner. She had a fantastic Double Cheeseburger . Classic diner experience. The customer service propells the experience here, and the food is solid. There are lots of options to choose from, satisfying nearly everyone. The prices are comparable to like diners.

This place is pure nostalgia for me. When I first moved to Detroit, my mentor teacher, always said, "for the best corned beef sandwich in Detroit, go to Louie's." It quickly grew to become our weekend diner spot and it really hasn't changed since then. If you're looking for a go-to breakfast spot, I highly recommend Louie's whether it's right after Eastern Market, Sunday service, or a quick drive thru pickup. It's all that and more. Enjoy!

Whet for breakfast got corn, beef, and eggs over medium. I was shocked when the plate of food came out and there was so much corn beef, but didn't realize why it was such a large amount because it was pretty much all potatoes if you have a corn beef place how are you serving corn beef hash with very little corned beef very disappointing for a very expensive dish.

Great food at affordable prices! I always get a great breakfast here every time and it doesn't break me paying for it!! The food here is delicious and the staff is very friendly.

For the general a diner, this is pretty standard. There was bar and booth seating. It is a little more run down than an average diner, but the selection was classic and there were a lot of options. It had a full menu of handhelds and breakfast. There were the typical choices or omelettes, eggs and pancakes/waffles. Service was slow but fast? The waitress checked up on us in the beginning of our lunch, but when time passed, she left for an extremely long time when we were waiting for the check.

Food was amazing. Customer service was great the restaurant was clean. Cutest place.we will definitely be back thanks for an amazing experience.

Our waitress made our visit here even better! The prices were fair and the menu was huge. Gave a diner feel and was very clean. Our food came quickly and was amazing! I definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area or down in Eastern Market!

After spending some time driving around Detroit, looking for a good breakfast spot, we popped into Louise on our way home. What a great idea! We sat at the bar, and though we ordered simple food items (they actually killed it with the poach eggs A+++), what most impressed me was the efficiency of the staff, and the cleanliness of the place. When you sit at the bar, you can look into the kitchen and the back serving station. Everything is clean and I think Restaurant managers should come and take note. There is no need to have a dirty restaurant! We'll definitely be coming back again, and again! Recommended for anyone who likes fast service, go to food, friendly, service, and a clean establishment! :-)

Stopped in for lunch. The service there has always been excellent for us. The staff really knows what they're doing. They have a large menu with lots of choices. I opted for a late breakfast (at lunch) and had the Italian sausage omelette. Delicious! Wonderful place that is both clean and inviting. Give them a try!

I was visiting Detroit and stopped here for a quick bite before a meeting. The staff was very nice and I got the vibe that most folks who eat here are long time regulars. I enjoyed my food overall and would go again when I'm in Detroit.

LET ME JUST SAY... they were FANTASTIC!! The guys were working down the street and we bought them lunch. They packed everything up and exactly how I asked on the phone. Labeled the boxes and wrapped in foil and just DELICIOUS! I used to work at one of the best corned beef restaurants in Sterling Heights ages ago, and I'm very picky when it comes to corned beef. This place is great!

Yesterday my daughter celebrated her 9 year anniversary of having her successful kidney transplant. After visiting her Drs she wanted to dine in here. We ordered our food which looked delicious, my daughter asked for plastic wear to eat with due to her compromised immune system due to her transplant and was denied. They offered us to go boxes instead. I was shocked. I was told plastic wear wasn't allowed in the dining even after explaining how detrimental it was. We left the food there. We very sad and shocked. I will never go back and have alerted the media

Food aside because it was fantastic. Last year my daughter was in patient at MOTT children's for some time next to, what I believe, was the owner's sons room who was also sick. Long story short, they offered to bring my wife and i lunch one day, and goddamnit this was incredibly generous despite what they were going through. We never got their names, but it really was such a nice gesture, and we couldn't appreciate any more than we did. If you folks ever read this, Thank you.

It was a rocky start because no one knew which wait staff was supposed to handle the table. One waitress decided that she would do it while everyone was arguing about it. Thank goodness! Food arrived quickly, was hot from the grill and really tasty. Portions were massive! Since the waitress was not supposed to be our girl and still did an amazing job, she got a little bonus of a larger tip.

Best food and quality, always clean and great service. Been coming here 20yrs and feel like family.

This is a local chain. I think it is all one family but each owned by a different member. Anyway, this is the nicest restaurant in the chain, inside and out. We came in for breakfast, corned beef hash with eggs sunny side up. I added sausage grave (everything's better with gravy). So to call the gravy bland would be a compliment. My Uncle had his hash without gravy and thought it had an unusual flavor. Keep in mind, we are Irish Boys and like to think we corned beef experts. I will return for lunch to see if it was a breakfast thing. The location by my house is a regular stop so I'm sure lunch will be better than breakfast at that location. I'm going four stars as I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, I will update after Inhave lunch here.

Classic midwest American diner fare, that oddly lacks a real Ham or Corned Beef focus or point of view on the menu. The atmosphere and food at this location are average, but the service is super attentive and you'll be able to get in and out with time left on your lunch break.

Great corned beef sandwich. It doesn't get much better. Had the slaw instead of the kraut. It's worth a try on this end of town

After a recent meeting in the "D" we swung in to Louie's to try out their sandwiches. The restaurant was jammed at lunch time midweek and there was a true hussel feel goi going on with the staff. They were pleasant and professional. Good to see a restaurant full and a little positive craziness going on. Sandwiches didn't take long. Maybe 12-15 min? We ordered the corned beef and the pastrami sandwiches. The pastrami really impressed me with the delicious beef. I was told it is prepard next door at Wrigley's? It was really good and I probably could have eaten the entire sandwich, but I checked myself to allow for leftovers. The corned beef sandwich was also very good. The heaping serving of beautiful corned beef was a LOT. I know there is a breakfast menu to explore. Looking forward to another visit.

I love all things corned beef so I had to stop in and have breakfast before hitting the road. This place was great. Fast, friendly service, parking was plentiful and the good was delicious. They have a drive through which was a pleasant surprise. I was happy to see plexiglass dividers between the booths for a more comfortable dining experience during covid. Everyone had on a mask and social distancing was utilized. The menu is plentiful and I'm looking forward to going back to try other menu items. I had Corned Beef hash, eggs, orange juice and toast. Outstanding! Corned Beef was full of flavor and cooked to perfect. The portion was great and I was ready to start my day after breakfast. This place is a must if you want a great breakfast early hours are always a plus for me and they are conveniently located.

Louie's is my go-to breakfast place in the area. It's been a culinary staple of my family since I was a child. It's everything you want of a good diner and is home to the best corned beef hash, and I will fight tooth and nail about that.

This place is just a short drive from the DMC. There is parking (free) and even a drive through. When you walk in it is open and clean with hostess's to greet you at the entrance. I went with friends from work and we were starving. Everything looked good so I opted for the 1/2 sandwich and soup special. Corned beef with split pea and ham. Soup came first, then the sandwich. Both sandwiches came out quickly- more so than a grilled wrap that someone at our table ordered- probably because hey grill the chicken as ordered. Portions are huge! Not all food was consumed at the table. It was also an extremely tasty lunch. Hope to get back here to try something else.

Absolutely love this place! Not only is the food, amazing, but the service was too. I would come back to this place over and over again if I lived nearby. This diner is clean, comfortable and attractive. I ordered the corn beef hash with eggs and it was beyond delicious! My sister ordered the garden skillet. She absolutely loved hers and the portions were quite large. I highly recommend this restaurant. Corn beef is one of my favorite things in the whole world. I will be back!

Really good. Best corned beef sandwich I've had since Katz's in NYC. Big servings so come hungry. Affordable. Everything our table ordered was great. Definitely coming back.

They use to be the TOP DOG! They are still one of the best if not THE BEST place for ham or corned beef. i love their sandwiches and their breakfast. They have 4 egg omelettes and they are too die for. They have a great variety of them too. Broccoli and cheese used fresh broccoli. Try the irish omelette that has corned beef inside. yum. Sandwiches are great, and soups are amazing. Homemade stuff. Problem is every single time i go back, they have raised the prices. This is the only place where they charge over $3 dollars to make a sandwich into a combo. I know you use good stuff and so prices "reflect that" but ive seen a sandwich go from 6 dollars to 10 dollars over my years coming here. but ill continue to come here because the food is that good. When i want good ham or corned beef this is a local place.

This restaurant will always have a special place in my heart. Years ago, I met my dad here once a week and we would sit and talk. Together, we tried every sandwich on the menu. I'll tell you now, there's not one bad sammy on the list. My favorite is still the Turkey Club, or the Reuben. The Turkey Club is not only filling, but it's stacked perfectly to the point where you can't even fit it in with one bite. The Reuben is such a hearty meal. Make sure you have some time to nap after this one ;) You'll find yourself in good company, as the staff are extremely polite and professional. The tables are spaced out for social distancing and all staff had their mask on correctly.

They have been in the community a long time.. I'm shocked they don't honor veterans day.. Not even a discount.... :(

Cooks and waitstaff were wearing their masks under their chins ... No social distancing. Didn't even get to eat because I was literally worried I was gonna get COVID from just waiting to be seated. We were gonna eat there despite the lack of social distancing and no limit of the capacity, but seeing the cooks not wearing their masks was the deal breaker.

Good food, a bit expensive but what isn't these days. Me and my son are there all the time. Love it!

Ran on my lunch break to Louie's for a Ruben sandwich. The sandwich was great! I did request extra neat and was pleased with the amount added to sandwich. Also had onion rings. I called my order in and picked it up at drive thru. Good food and quick service!

Employees through drive thru will steal your card information and do fraud charges. The manager will do absolutely nothing about it ! Be careful eating here

Had one of the best corned beef/ pastrami sandwhich on Saturday at noon....just prior to the Lions game...plenty of lean meat on grilled bread...so tasty....might be a familiar pit stop going forward....plenty of Lions fans must have already figured it out...5 stars for Louie and his team in Detroit....portions are very generous...wide variety of sandwiches and breakfast entree's...perfect location off 75 expressway....can't to try the different entrees...great sides dishes with sandwhiches...ambiance is family friendly!

Don't order the "BIG" breakfast. Complete rip off, they know they are stealing. 13 dollars and no hash browns. Go somewhere else

Ok, soooo OMG--yummy! Best omelette I've ever had, (and I'm really not an egg person). I ordered the Corned Beef Hash Omelette, it comes with toast, for an extra up charge you can add grits or potatoes on the side. It was huge and delicious! Probably big enough to share with another person! Great service, great food--a double win!

I have been coming to this place for years and needless to say, it is a favorite go-to of mine. I love coming here for breakfast especially- the prices are very affordable for good quality food and large portions. The place gets a lot of regulars, so it has a cute and cozy feel to it. Every time I come, it is a good meal and I leave full and satisfied! The staff is friendly and they are efficient- it is never more than a 15 min wait for food even on a busy weekend morning. Love this place!!

I almost hate to rate Louie's so high, as it can already get crowded, but fair is fair. Phenomenal soups, sandwiches, etc. they get their corned beef from Wigley's, and it's over the moon. The breakfasts also look fantastic & we're going to Eastern Market early one of these days to try breakfast. The corned beef hash looks great as do the hot cakes & everything else that goes by. Friendly staff, good prices & clean as a whistle. They also own Downtown Louie's Lounge - another fave of ours!!

A friend and I went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Despite the crowd we were seated quickly. Our server was bubbly and very friendly. I opted to forgo breakfast and ordered a Corned Beef sandwich and a bowl of Split Pea Soup. My friend had the Farmer's Omelette. Everything was delicious.

DONT expect any service when your waitress goes on a break. The 3 waitress that was standing at the front were of no assistance, we had to ask for pop refills and to go boxes! we frequent this place often but after today, we'll spend our money elsewhere!

My first time here. I had the Louie's Delight (Corned Beef w/ Swiss, coleslaw and thousand island on Rye) very good. It's a big sandwich. I also must say, I think they have some of the best French Fries I have had in a restaurant. Brandy took care of me and she was very attentive, and very sweet and a pro. Thank you Louie's and Brandy for a great first experience......... I will be back

Love the food and the service. I would have liked the onions cooked more in my corned beef hash since the onions were crunchy and threw off the texture but it still tasted sooo good. Highly recommend!! Also loved the potatoes (hash browns) and my eggs were cooked perfectly.

The food is fantastic and the service is great. The restaurant has a warm cozy feel to it. Will definitely be going back again.
