The food is good and my kids love it! When I ordered food, the staff enthusiastically recommended it to me. So when I paid the bill, I happily paid a 20% tip. After the burger was done, I wanted it split in half and I tipped an extra $5. But while I was dining, a male kitchen employee looked at me discriminatingly many times, so many times and made me feel very uncomfortable and unhappy. Also I shared my feelings with other staff.

The $17 deal for a big Louie combo was worth it. One of the better burgers in the city. Chicken sandwich was moist and tasted good. Good waffle fries and onion rings. Only gripe is a can of coke was $4.

Arrived early during a weekday. Delicious burgers were bigger than I thought. Fries were crispy. But the star was the Banana Cream Pie milkshake. Absolutely delicious.

I felt like a youth on a date with my lovely wife...with grandbaby in tow. The atmosphere was family oriented mom's dad's and single people. The TV's had sports on. The music was my favorite 1970's jam. I would have danced on the table if my true jam would have slapped (PYT). NOW those burgers, fries and chocolate shake. We had the Louie no cheese, Louie ll and big sister. The patty was grilled kissed, moist and cooked with no pink. Fries plentiful and not overly salted. I'll be pushing my way in again, again and again.

The big Louie was a great premium smash burger on a fluffy bun and perfect toppings. Banana foster milkshake was really good. I’d been thinking about it since I first saw pictures of it online and it lived up to my expectations. The chicken tenders were fine. A little under seasoned and the way they are served seemed to cause the bottom ones to get soggy by the time they were cool enough to eat. The other thing that really caught me by surprise was how good their ranch was. I didn’t even ask fit it, but I’ll definitely next time. Such good strong dill flavor. I’d dip everything in it.

I go here anytime I am craving burger, fries or chicken strips. It is the best place in the area to get them. Their chicken strips are the best I've ever had. I also recently had an issue where my order unfortunately did not survive the trip back to where I work, like 10 minute walk away, because it was raining and my umbrella was not enough to keep the bag from getting soggy. Bag ripped and lost half my lunch. When I reached out the manager was kind enough to help me out and replace the order a few days later which I really appreciated. Really good vibes and I'll absolutely be going back again!

May 2024: Came here for lunch and shared the single burger and the chicken nuggets. Both were tasty. I think the single burger patty had a little too much bun to meat ratio and would get the double burger 🍔 next time. The nuggets were tasty and came with a mustard sauce. I preferred eating this with ketchup instead. But that's because I like ketchup! 😀

Google
Would not recommend the onion rings - the most bland I’ve ever had. The coating is interesting, overall tastes like a fried whole wheat bread. The burgers were good but patties are over cooked and could be better seasoned. Wish there was tomatoes to balance it out too. But still happy for the addition of a fancy-ish but still chill burger place in the neighborhood! Guess our expectations were just high as it’s a Michelin-starred team that’s behind it.

Yelp
So I've had their little Louie and a side of waffle fries, and I have to say this is one of the better burger spots in SF. It's a tad bit overpriced, but I'm willing to pay it for the flavor town I go to whenever I come here. The burger was cooked nicely, the bread was nice and fluffy, the sauce ratio was also pretty much perfect. The waffle fries were also nice and crispy, but I r had better waffle fries at other places. The service was alright, nothing to write home about. They weren't overtly nice but not rude. The restaurant's vibes were also just okay. So all in all, good food, a bit overpriced, and okay service. 4/5.

Yelp
Ordered a Big Louie combo w/ waffle fries and Fried Chicken Sandwich for two people on the phone and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. Pickup was easy. The food looked amazing. I had the fried chicken sandwich only and the chicken was juicy and pretty tender. I personally do not like raw onion shredded into a slaw and prefer a cabbage slaw instead. I did not try the burger or fries but heard the sweet pickles and waffle fries were good.

Yelp
If you are looking for a great burger.. this ain't it. The pictures look great, don't be fooled. The burger was dry and over cooked, the bacon was almost raw. The onion rings looked great but were so greasy, uneatable for me! My lady friend had a lettuce wrap, it was dripping wet. Won't be back here.

Neha H.

Yelp
Please bring back the chicken tenders! So delicious and crunchy! Really sad they don't sell them anymore. I also Got the cheeseburger and was very satisfied. Food was tasty and fresh.

Yelp
Louie's is a solid burger spot and I am so glad we found you! You are now one of our go-to date night spots :) La Connessa, Magic Donut, and Louie's are all owned by the same group and they are all in the same building here. There seemed to be ample street parking when I went (~3 pm on a Saturday) but I don't know how it'd be on a friday / weekend evening for dinner. It should be fine though if you're willing to walk a block or two! For my first visit, I ordered the big louie meal (big louie, fries, and drink). I opted for the american cheese and onion rings (i/o fries). The two patties were pretty juicy and I loved the pickles. There is no tomato in the burger which was fine by me. You can also add avocado, bacon, etc. but I decided to have the burger as is! I loved the house-made brioche bun, although didn't eat all the buns because I saved a lil bit of space for a magic donut afterwards :) The restaurant itself is set up like a nicer diner and I think it would be really fun to sit at the counter while enjoying a burger and watch more burgers get cooked! I want to come back and try the fried chicken sandwich so see you soon!

Yelp
We were very happy with this food! There's only a few tables outside, but it wasn't busy at the time so we didn't have a problem getting a space. The smash burger was good, it was cooked well but thin. Next time, we would get the double! The chicken sandwich was fantastic, thick and juicy on the inside while still crispy on the outside, with delicious slaw. The waffle fries were also good, and I look forward to trying the loaded fries next time. It is a bit expensive, but worth it.

Yelp
Surprisingly good!!! The less than amazing reviews were unfortunately from when they first opened, which definitely deterred me. With that said, I am happy to report, they have definitely addressed the issues. The Big Louie (2 patties) for $11 with a perfect brioche bun was a delicious juicy burger. Add $1 for American cheese and $2 for white cheddar cheese. The waffle fries for $6 were solid. Crispy on outside and soft on inside. They do have a combo for $17 for the Big Louie that essentially gets you a free drink. They do have good drink options like Topo Chico! You could also get the Small Louie with single patty for $8. To me the price is pretty good for what you get! Don't leave without getting the soft serve custard cone!!! Folks from the mid west know about custard cones but you don't see too many places here that have it. It is creamier and thicker than regular soft serve. It is sooooooo good!! It reminds me of the buffalo cream Double 8 ice cream. Yum yum!! It is like a casual establishment so you order at the corner. I also think they made some adjustments and removed the automatic 18% service fee while still asking you to tip. We did not seem to have this problem (though we didn't get itemized receipt so will have to double check next time). And yes, there will be a next time for sure!

Adel W.

Yelp
Doordash had a $8 discount promo with Louie's with no order minimum, so I basically got a free burger! It surpassed my expectations though: the bun tasted buttery without being too oily, the lettuce and pickles were crisp, and I normally miss tomato but in case I didn't! The location is kind of random, but Connessa/Louies/Magic are all under the same ownership.

Lamarr E.

Yelp
Louie's has been on my bucket list for a while. It's taunted as having one of the best burgers in the city and that could very well be true. The burgers are solid, all the ingredients taste fresh and delicious. The burgers are grilled on a flattop similar to a diner. The bun, the patty quality, and toppings are amazing. I just have one gripe, the prices of course! Everything adds up fast, you ll spend over $20 easily with all the extras. If you're a burger connoisseur, don't let the price point stop you. Just make sure not to leave your wallet at home.

Yelp
Dinner review. Burgers. Louie's Original (Big Loui) -(Lettuce, Bread & Butter Pickles, Yellow Onion) Secret Sauce, House-Made Brioche Bun +Bacon Corn flake-coated chicken tenders Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce Beer-battered onion rings Overall, good price point, great burger option. "As good as it gets."

Yelp
Sometimes you just need a nice, tasty, greasy burger. This place hit the perfect spot! The onion rings were so fluffy and crispy, as well! Wanna come back next time to try their shakes!

Jessica I.

Yelp
I love this addition to the neighborhood! I've come for dine in and take out and the food is fresh every time. My go to is the Little Louie with American Cheese ($9) and fries or onion rings ($6). The burger is juicy and saucy and the fries are perfectly crisp! You order at the kiosk and they give you a buzzer. The wait time is no longer than 5 minutes. There is ample seating (bar, indoor and outdoor tables) and a self serve water station. Pro Tip: Check your DoorDash if you have DashPass for dine-out deals - Louie's Original has deals pretty frequently on there!

Pstephan A.

Yelp
Hidden Gem perfect for lunch dinner or a burger! Located at the bottom of Potrero Hill this burger joints serves up delicious burgers and fries. Also try the chicken tenders and waffle fries. Plenty of seating and a hip kool SF vibe. Recommend and will be back!

Lauren P.

Yelp
I tried to use the DoorDash deal on fries and the cashier told me that the total had to be a certain amount (it doesn't) - but ok fair, I added a drink - and then he told me it could only apply to one item (it doesn't). I asked him where that info is available to me to know, and his response was that it was the instruction his manager told him. I asked how I'm supposed to know that beforehand, when it's not visible to me anywhere? He tried to tell me it's the rules of DoorDash. I've used deals elsewhere many times before and never been gaslit like this. For a place that's so empty, you'd think they'd welcome business a bit more, rather than making up stipulations on the fly. A warning to anyone who tries to use a deal!

Yelp
Such a great stop for burgers, sides, and a shake. We got the large burger, and it had two patties - super filling and juicy. The flavor is on point with a good balance of beef and toppings. I like how they wrap it really nicely so it's not messy either. The chicken sandwich was super tender and juicy too. They have a nice deal for a burger, fries, and a soda too if you want to combo everything together. We also tried the banana shake and it was so tasty!! They have a seasonal shake too for the fall, which we will definitely get next time. There's indoor and outdoor seating, and the restaurant is located in a more quiet residential side of Potrero hill with plenty of street parking around.

Yelp
My dad wanted to try this place after seeing a video of it online and so we came on a Friday around noon. It seemed like there was a work catering event going on so unfortunately the wait was 40 minutes which was slightly ridiculous (especially since we didn't order much). However would like to note that one of the workers offered us a free milkshake for having to wait. Regardless, food was amazing. Probably the best burger I had in a while and every item we ordered was good. You can tell they use really good ingredients. Big sister burger - Known for their English muffin bun. Super messy but so saucy and delicious. A really good burger and my favorite thing I tried. Chicken sandwich - super great as well. Chicken was juicy and had a great crispy crust. The sauce definitely made the sandwich as it was nice and tangy. Onion rings - sooo good. Beer battered and fried to perfection. Waffle fries - didn't try but my dad said they were solid Banana Foster milkshake - loved. great banana flavor & good creamy / icy consistency Coffee & Donuts Milkshake - great as well. creamy coffee vanilla milkshake base and the donut was yummy too! Very clean inside and nice natural lighting. Area is peaceful but just wish it was a little bigger maybe. Feels slightly cramped

Yelp
I always get a cheeseburger, fries, and chicken strips when I go there because it's a great combo and always hits the spot. I've never gotten a bad burger or fries from them and the chicken strips are the best I've ever had! I tend to get to-go through their online ordering which is really easy to use so I can pick up lunch because I work nearby. The service is always great and one time my order ended up falling on the ground in the rain after I left and the manager was kind enough to replace it for me a few days later when I reached out. Very nice people and great food!

Jane G.

Yelp
When Louie's first opened, I was thrilled. Tried it very soon, as while it wasn't the very best hamburger and fries I'd had, it was plenty good, enough to come back. I did, around six months later. Big difference. Burger was tiny and dry, fries were fried in rancid oil. Edible, but poor. Now third time. I don't think I've ever had a worse burger. It reeked. I thought the smell was coming from the pickles, so I took them out. They did smell bad, but the burger still did, too. Took out the lettuce, the sauce, the bun and burger one by one to figure out where the smell was coming from. The answer was - it was coming from everything. Fries fried in old oil, but that was nothing compared to the burger. Everything went into the trash. (Oh, and my order was bagged and ready when I went to pick it up, but they made me stand and wait while they fiddled around with paperwork.)

Nyla K.

Yelp
Was excited to see this burger place open up in the neighborhood. Got a burger and fries to go. Pretty standard. Probably should have ordered online and could've saved time. I went on a random Tuesday night and the place was pretty dead so there was plenty of seating with no wait. 4/5 Single burger, pretty juicy and good. I would order this again 3/5 Waffle fries, could've been a bit crispier but still pretty good. I'll come back for sure.

Ajay K.

Yelp
Great location in a neighborhood that doesn't have a lot of competition. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Really wanted to love this place but the food was mediocre at best. The big Louie had two well cooked patties (add cheese for extra) but overall the burger was not up to par. I was hoping for a premium burger experience but I'd rather pay more and just eat at Niku instead. Shake shack was better than Louie's. Banana milkshake was too sweet (couldn't drink more than a couple sips). Will give it another shot and be back to try the chicken sandwich because the staff was so friendly !

Cat C.

Yelp
Was I hungry? Yes! Do fries always hit? For the most part, yes! But were the fries at Louie's Original delicious? Yes! Do I regret not ordering a second order for us to share? Welp, sorta! We had 5pm dinner reservations at La Connessa nextdoor. Not knowing how difficult parking may be, and hoping to potentially make it to Magic Donut for a donut, we left early, and arrived in the area around 4:30. While Magic Donut closed early, we decided instead of sitting in the car, that we would share an order of fries at Original Louie's. This place is so cute! I love the countertop option where you can see them cooking in front of you, but since I didn't want to smell like food, we chose to sit at a table. The waitstaff were all super sweet, even though we only ordered one order of fries. One of the waitresses even asked if we wanted any dipping sauce, which we went with the buttermilk ranch. Our order was served pretty quickly, and the fries were perfectly crispy but nice and soft inside, hot, and had just enough salt. The buttermilk ranch was delish, the perfect dip for the fries, although these guys could hold their own. With tax, and 18% gratuity, the fries were around $9. I can't wait to come back to try their burgers, afterall, I still have yet to try the infamous Spruce burger, and so happy to hear that it's an offering at Louie's Original.

Robert C.

Yelp
Discovered this new spot near my job site. It's a great find! Nice and welcoming interior and friendly counter staff. I ordered the Little Louie and fries to test it out. Saw the grill gent put down a fresh ball of beef on the grill. Came out nice and juicy. Fries were crispy and well-seasoned. Sat inside and watched the lunch crowd come in at noon. Menu has a lot of variety and I'll try a milk shake next time.

Rome D.

Yelp
Overall the food was good and the burgers are customizable. The service was okay. We had a party of 4 and we each got a burger, drink, 2 fries and 2 onion rings. The bill was $177.00. This place is extremely expensive and I don't believe it's worth it. We all customize our burgers but when the server brought it out to the table he didn't know who's was who's. So we each ended up eating a different burger from what we ordered. That was irritating! One burger was completely different and my buddy sent it back the server said you can keep it, I'll have the kitchen remake yours. So me and the other guys were like okay thanks. However they still charged for it hahaha he pulled a fast one on us.

Keli T.

Yelp
This place is pretty great, very kid friendly. It's never super busy and we can show up shortly after school pick on any given day without a wait. We go to the playground across the street and walk right over after. The wait staff is friendly and food comes out quickly...super important when you have a hungry tot. The buns are good, but the burgers are just average. Fries are great.

Jenny W.

Yelp
Yes, they have the famed Spruce burger here, aka the big sister burger. But what I didn't account for was that even if it had the same ingredients, execution between the kitchen at Spruce and the kitchen here could differ. Despite ordering it pink, the burger came pretty much fully cooked. Also, while I liked the pickled veggie toppings, if you, like my boyfriend, don't like pickles, this is not the burger for you. I actually liked the Big Louie more, the brioche bun was nice and the smashburger patties were juicy (and since they're not meant to be pink, you can't go wrong here). The fries were pretty unmemorable, and the onion rings were good (great crispy coating). The milkshake was a solid sweet treat to end the meal.

Connie N.

Yelp
Big Louie had good char and onion flavor, but was a little dry whilst also overall fulfilling the "greasy burger" concept. Waffle Fries were classic and would probably been crispy if not for delivery. Bananas Foster was not super sweet and had a nice cinnamon/vanilla flavor with crispy banana chips on top. Would recommend pick up over delivery!

Maurice W.

Yelp
Second time coming here. The service was on point, fast, and fire food. It's a nice, clean place inside too. The first time I got the Louie's Burger (large) with messy regular fries, and a chocolate brown butter milkshake. The second time I got the same thing but instead with the fried chicken sammich. Both were great but the burger was my pick out the two. The messy fries I can eat all day long. Both very filling. It was a bit pricey but what isn't nowadays (shrugs). I would definitely come back again and again as it's a great grab every once in a while. The Snackaterian on IG put me up on this place (thank you!).

Marissa S.

Yelp
Love this place so much! Between four hungry adults we ordered the Big Louie Burger, Big Sister Burger, Fried Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Tenders, Onion Rings, Waffle Fries, Strawberry Shortcake milkshake, and Oreo Milkshake. Dang it was good and can't wait to come back. The milkshakes are decadent but surprisingly not too sweet. They clearly use high quality milk because it doesn't have that weird after taste/consistency of milkshakes from McDonalds or In-n-out. It's like a milkshake you'd make from real icecream at home. The fried chicken sandwich was the underdog here. Not dry at all and super tasty. The horseradish sauce give it a nice kick and balance to what can sometimes be a very greasy sandwich. For those who enjoy the Spruce burger, but don't want to wait, this is an excellent choice. Although, the winner between the burgers was definitely the Big Louie. The meat to bun ratio was perfect. It was a juicy burger with great classic flavors. Waffle, fries and onion rings were fried to perfection. Crispy exteriors that offered a lovely contrast to the juicy sandwiches. While the tenders were delicious, they were surprisingly our least favorite of all of the items. Go ahead and skip this one if you're on the fence.

Yelp
3.5 STARS "Remember Spruce?" "Yea, they got that bomb burger and duck fat fries." "Yes!....so that was supposed to Spruce's burger." ( o _ O ) "Best" is always subjective but as far as bougie burgers go, Spruce's burger is my top 3. And, I've been hoping The Bacchus Family would bring that burger to one of their sister restaurants. Well, they did something even better.... They opened a burger joint featuring Spruce's burger that's less than a 10 minute drive from home (without traffic)...with easy street parking. In mid-October, Louie's Original opened on Mason on Mariposa (along with two of their sister businesses: Magic Donuts and La Connessa). Open for takeout and dine-in. Dinner only for now but starting 11/27, they'll be open from 11 am - 9 pm. M E N U Two burgers styles: * Louie's Original - California-style, smash patty burger (single or double patty) on a brioche bun * Big Sister - Spruce's burger on a english muffin You can customize your burger w/ add-ons: avocado, bacon, portobello mushroom, sunny-side up egg, etc. Not feeling a burger? They have a salad, chicken tenders, and a fried chicken sandwich. * Sides: Fries, waffle fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings * Drinks: Milkshakes, beer, wine, and bottled soda * Dessert: Frozen custard There's a 18% service surcharge for dine-in and a 3.5% SF mandate. It's not clear if the 18% service surcharge goes towards tip as the tip screen popped up when paying. One burger and one fries was $36.48 after tax, fees, and tip. F O O D * Big Sister w/ white cheddar, romaine lettuce, roma tomato, pickled veggies, english muffin ($19): https://tinyurl.com/4nphrs3b --Add bacon ($3) --Requested medium rare Unfortunately, this is not the Spruce burger that I love. At least, not right now. I shared it with my friend who was surprised that this was supposed to be Spruce's burger. While the ingredients are high quality with everything made in-house, the execution needs work. --Patty: The patty was well-done so we sent it back. The re-fire was better but as you can see in the pic, the patty's thickness was uneven so one side was medium rare while the other side was medium well-ish. The patty looked thinner than Spruce's 8 oz patty and the texture was on the dense side. --English muffin: The top was smashed down on the flat top so the surface area was tough. --Fixings: Melty cheese with smoky bacon, sweet tomatoes, tangy pickled onions, crisp lettuce, and creamy aioli made for a tasty but messy burger. * Waffle Fries ($6) https://tinyurl.com/ny8kd9z3 The highlight of our meal, the waffle fries were deliciously crunchy and soft with a maximum surface area for dipping. Not greasy. S E R V I C E 5 star service from staff. Everyone was friendly and upbeat with smiles. Positive vibes all around. Food was ready in less than 10 minutes (early dinner before 5 pm). A M B I A N C E Love the modern-retro diner with open kitchen and cute burger murals. Great branding with staff fitted in Louie's Original t-shirts and trucker hats. Awesome 90s hip-hop playlist with Naughty By Nature, Wu-Tang, etc. P A R K I N G Easy, free street parking. Overall, great waffle fries, service, and vibes. The burger needs work tho. They're brand new so I'm hopeful that they'll work out their kinks. 3.5 stars rounded up.

Yelp
From the people who brought you SF's gourmet hamburger at Spruce comes Louie's Original. Now I live three blocks from Spruce on the opposite side of town (a special occasion restaurant) and embarrassingly admit that I get their $25 burger and fries WITH foie gras) to go more than I should so Louie's makes sense if I want to get a burger with friends who don't need a fancy place to get a gourmet burger Came here and shared both the Little Louie Original (4 oz) as well as the Big Sister (8 oz), onion rings and waffle fries. Kate was great at helping us decide what to get. I really enjoyed the Louie Original ($10 ) as a great gourmet burger when you consider that McDonald's in San Francisco charges you almost as much. I found its garnish to be nice and sweet and in its own way, better than the Big Sister. Again, since I live near Spruce, I can just get it there. The onion rings were huge and the waffle fries were crispy and both were nice and greasy so much that the leftovers made it home for a late night snack. Now for those who know me I am a bit of an ice cream snob and connoisseur and I will tell you that their custard puts Shake Shack and Super Duper to shame and their shakes are so rich and creamy that your veins will pop out of your forehead to suck it out through a straw. Yes you might find this place to be a bit pricey for a burger, but they charge the same for the burger at a Michelin Star restaurant and if you tell yourself that you don't want a fast food burger and consider yourself a burgerphile, then you will no doubt come away with a strong appreciation for this institution that will hopefully catch on. PS - Alcohol is served and the onion rings are berr-battered.

Yelp
My friends and I dined here on a Saturday late afternoon/ early dinner. There was a decent amount of people but we were able to get seated fairly quickly. The staff were really fantastic. They were kind and attentive. Every individual piece of ingredient tasted of really high quality. Unfortunately, I just thought that Louie's Original was missing a bit of fat for my taste buds - the patties were too lean for my preference; maybe a bit more fat from in sauce would have made me a bigger fan of the burger (or additional sauce on the side as an option). Unfortunately, they ran out of the Big Sister Burger and the Sweet Potatoes Fries when we dined. If I get the chance to visit again, I'll definitely give this place another shot and order those items. I would also recommend ordering the waffle fries (make em messy) and the onion rings.

Adam T.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere. Decent burgers. Better fries. Louie's makes a casual date night spot in Potrero Hill. The burgers are well made and reflect the in-house work that the team puts in. The sweet potatoes fries were the highlight as they packed a decent amount of flavor into a fairly straight forward side. The pricing structure is a bit off as two burgers of modest proportions plus sweet potato fries should not come out to $50. This includes a mandatory 18% tip for a party of two (service included taking of our order, filling the water at the outset (but not again) and bringing out our food). These prices reflect bistro-style burgers that already include the fixings and sides and restaurant-style service. With better economics, this place would be a hit. But at the current price point, there's some misalignment -- even for this costly city.

Michelle K.

Yelp
I got takeout from here and got the Louie Burger as well as the Waffle Fries. The burger was a bit dry but still hearty and delicious, while the waffle fries were the star of the show. They were crispy and the yellow sauce that came with it was mad addicting.

Claire H.

Yelp
This burger outpost shares its DNA with the esteemed Spruce Restaurant. The vibe here is way more laid-back, and it's definitely getting some buzz rn. Hint: arrive before 5 to get a seat comfortably. They offer two distinct burger styles, each with it's own draws. So depending on your mood or style, you'll be happy. One is an American style, featuring a brioche bun with melty American cheese, white onion and burger sauce. It was pretty dang good. I like that you can opt for a single patty if you're not in the mood for a hefty portion. The other burger option, "The Big Sister " $19 leans toward a tavern-style creation, boasting a thicker patty on a wonderfully flavorful English muffin. The muffin is undoubtedly standout feature imho. The ample vegetable pickles and a fresh tomato adds to the charm. Although the patty was decent, it lacked the juiciness I crave, making it a bit of a letdown for those who prefer a more succulent burger over the intensely cheesy variety. I also tried their perfectly cooked waffle fries and look forward to sampling one of their fun flavored shakes on my next visit. While it may not be my absolute favorite burger joint in San Francisco, it certainly ranks among the top five. Oh and the service was very attentive and amiable and made me feel like I was fine dining.

Yelp
While Louie's burgers certainly hold their own, don't miss the Fried Chicken Sandwich -- it's one of the best in San Francisco. Louie's milkshakes are a nice throwback treat. Quick service at the counter with a great team in a comfortable neighborhood format.

Yelp
Nice location with friendly staff and classic diner food but for a hefty price. Got the loaded waffle fries and a beer and my total was over $20 which was a lot considering the waffle fries had about 10 fries in them. Overall though the food was good but I personally could not justify the price

Yelp
Was here recently after they just opened for lunch and it was super busy had the double patty with fries it all was so tasty! It's definitely a trek to Potrero area but worth it. Will go back again

Yelp
I tried to get this combo but the person behind the counter refused to honor it because I had a DoorDash coupon. There is no policy that says I can't use a coupon on a combo meal deal. I didn't want to post a review but he was rude about the whole situation and refused to give me my drink (see picture)

Yelp
Best onion rings in SF, in my humble opinion this meal made me happy on my lunch break so it's part of the rotation now, great staff

Yelp
Delighted whenever a new restaurant opens on the Hill, but this one we could do without. Expensive for a burger that is greasy, soggy, and comes with some special sauce that was pretty gross. We couldn't really tell, but seemed like mustard and mayo. No tomatoes available, avocado piece was $3 extra, and the banana cream pie shake was just sickeningly sweet, with something I guess meant to approximate the pie crust dumped on top (yucky, like dry crums). And onion rings that priced out at $1. a piece were cold inside, hardly cooked onion. A staff that neither welcomed us as we came in, or said goodnight as we left, and there were about 8 of them not doing much, it was us and a four top, so not busy. As locals, we would have loved to make this a regular spot, but, um, no. 2 burgers, with a soda, onion rings, and a shake - $50 not well spent. We'll stick to JBs on 17th by Connecticut, or head over to Barney's on 24th. Both of them have excellent burgers, and a MUCH larger menu. Sorry to say, save your money, go elsewhere.

Yelp
We dropped by Louie's again to try the fried chicken sandwich and wow - this has got to be one of the best I've had in town. The slider style sweet potato buns are outstanding and the chicken is so crispy and juicy. Really fresh, crunchy vegetables on there too. I sat at the counter this time and it was a fun place to hang out and watch those delicious looking onion rings cook up. There's a great playlist on here and the people are friendly and took our order super quick! I'm really looking forward to coming back for the custard and another try at the burger.

Yelp
I've had a lot of burgers in my life... Buds, Nations, Burger King, The Habit... but one thing I make a Habit of is taking my buds to the best Burger King in the entire nation and that's Louie's Original. Max, the gent at the counter is a hero. He took my order and suggested things to me that I never would've gotten normally. He's very chill, friendly, and bro-tastic. You have Gotts to get here because every single burger is Super Duper. Its a great spot in Protero that welcomes you and your friends with open arms and they have tvs and beers for you to watch the latest episodes of Family Feud or sports... Fresh, made to order, and full of flavor. Wash it down with one of them thicccc milkshakes and you'll pass out as soon as you get home.

Yelp
I'll start with noting I've never had the Spruce burger, but I understand that this is a spinoff from that item. Regardless of my lack of experience with that burger, I felt the food here was pretty good. I had the little Louie and I must say, I can't imagine eating big Louie based on how big this one was. The burger party was pretty thick and juicy, though I think there was a little more sauce than I prefer, making it a bit messy by the time I got halfway done. I was really happy with the onion rings and waffle fries. These were cooked perfectly and were a real treat. Everyone here was friendly. The place is kinda interesting, very long with tables along the wall and bar seats along the counter. I will try the milkshakes next time, especially the one with donuts from next door.

Yelp
Overall, a solid 4. We got burgers, each type of fry, and chicken tenders. The little Louie is plenty of a meal for any normal person. The guy who got chicken fingers said they were the best he's ever had. The burger was also good and the brioche bun is a nice touch. The waffle fries were as expected, the messy fries were a little too cheesy for me, and the onion rings were pretty good. Less bread-y and more fried. The food was good and the service was nice but they charged our group of 6 people an automatic gratuity of 18% which seemed like a lot for a fairly casual spot (I'd say one notch down from counter service). There's not a ton of seating inside, so you may have to wait for a table or you can sit at the bar.

Yelp
Celebratory dinner/catchup with the fam. Found choice parking on a Friday night. Party of four, seated timely; our server Pablo was attentive, engaging and had great recs; not too crowded with just the right amount of noise, and top marks to whoever was in charge of the aux cord. I got the fried chicken sando with an added sunny side up egg, and we all shared a side of the onion rings x sweet potato fries x chicken strips. Also got the iced tea lemonade, which was solid. Batter ratio was a solid 8/10; for me, the seasoning could have a bit more salt to it, so 7/10, but the pickles and egg defs added value. Overall I'd give it a solid 8.8/10. For sure would come back with a larger party and enjoy the same. 9/10 recommend a visit.

Yelp
Value: Bad. 2/5 - Vastly overpriced. I paid about $35 for a sandwich + onion rings + coke! Service: Good. 4/5 What I ordered: Green Goddess Sandwich + Grilled Mushroom: Good. 4/5 - While it was good. Without the grilled mushrooms (which I paid extra for) it would not be worth at all. Onion Rings: Good. 3.5/5 Overall Thoughts: - Great restaurant with a nice ambiance - Way too overpriced, and the flavours do not make up for it
