I had to see this because a dear friend is a huge Louis Armstrong fan and I wanted to share a photo with her. It’s a really cool mural and I’m grateful I got the chance to pop in. Since it’s on the side of a building, you can simply pull into a parking lot and snap a pic.

Great mural! I have no idea who has their car parked in front of it, but they need to move it!

Yelp
Yesterday I attended the dedication of Lexington's newest mural. It was there that I met the artist who painted this masterpiece with spray cans starting on October 5th 2015 and completed in less than a week. It's painted on the side of Lighthouse Ministries, where I've volunteered a few times... so the location selection already earned a 5 star from me. The artist is Sergio Odeith and he is from Portugal. He painted one other mural in Lexington, that one was accidentally pressure washed and ruined a few months back. So, he was welcomed back to Lexington and arrived with the plan to paint Billie Holiday. Fortunately the business where it was set to painted backed out and decided not to allow it to be painted there. Their loss! I'd rather it be on the Lighthouse building anyway. Because of the shape of the space of the Billie Holiday plan, that mural idea changed to Louis Armstrong, which is rectangle shaped. And so, this is why Louis. This was actually the second time that the artist painted Louis Armstrong. The other one is in Baton Rouge. Actually Sergio Odeith has painted several murals in Baton Rouge. Hopefully that same trend has started in Lexington because Sergio is now my favorite artist and I'm looking forward to him coming back already.
