This was my first and last time visiting this restaurant. I've lived in the south for well over 16 years, I'm west Indian and I've also enjoyed authentic Louisiana cooking. I can throw down in the kitchen and I've enjoyed great southern food as well. Let's just say this however was not that. Talk about a disappointment. With a name like "Louisiana Creole Gumbo" me and my stomach were expecting delicious authentic food.
I entered the restaurant and was about to order from the self service kiosk but after a few minutes I was greeted and a lady at the counter took my order. The customer service was fine I'd say, as the menu options were explained and the food came fast. However the lack of flavor was the issue.
To begin the collard greens had absolutely no seasoning, not one smoked neck bone or meat morsel. Not one pepper flake or dust in sight. The macaroni and cheese was mushy, oily and lacked flavor.
To add insult to injury was the gumbo supreme. It tasted like someone tried to doctor up some Campbell's tomato soup, by adding celery, rice etc. I said to myself Lord , not even authentic andoullie sausage? The sausage they used no lie was similar to Vienna sausages. Shrimp was overcooked and the whole combo just lacked that true flavor.
While initially it looked promising, the corn bread was bland and solid as a rock smh. I literally broke it in half took a bite and had to just spit it out. This whole experience was especially disappointing as I make it a point to support black businesses however the quality just wasn't there. Whoever is in that kitchen needs to take some cooking lessons because they are putting the namesake of the restaurant to shame. I ended up just trashing the majority of the food, talk about a waste.
