Yelp
I came here with my youngest son for an important dinner out of the house last Saturday. Before looking up the actual location I thought this place was on the other side of Valley High Dr near Elk Grove. But it's actually on the South Sac side, off of Mack Road and Hwy 99. I passed right by it at first, but caught it after turning around, because it's nestled in the corner of the lot that it's in.
We arrived around 6:30 and there was one person ahead of us, which gave us an opportunity to look at the menu while we waited. With my dad being bored and raised in Georgia, I've grown up on Soul Food but my son; not so much. So I was excited to see what he'd want to order, plus I've visited New Orleans before and enjoyed the local food. And couldn't wait to try this NOLA inspired restaurant here in Sacramento.
Once we got to the register we were greeted by the guy at the counter and my son ordered the BBQ Pork ribs platter with Jambalaya (at the suggestion of the guy) along with fries and Kool Aid. And I went with the BBQ Pork Rib platter as well with a side of green and Mac & Cheese; with a sweet tea for my drink.
Luckily we got here when we did because after sitting down at our table it started to get really busy with dine-in, to-go and Door Dash orders. I noticed pretty quickly that they were short on staff, as both people at the counter were taking orders, and took a while to clean off our table. So I didn't hold that against them, since they were also trying to tend to people ordering.
I think overall it took about 30-40 mins for our meals to be ready, which was fine based on the number of staff and the orders coming in. And my son and I kept ourselves occupied with the Kings game, they had playing on the large flat screen directly facing our table. Our meals came out as they were ready, and it took a trip or two since only one person could to the orders out. But right off the bat everything looked amazing!

The ribs were de-lic-ious and my son and I both enjoyed them. The greens were bomb too with the perfect amount of spice. I wasn't sure what my son would think of the Jambalaya as he can be picky at times and not want to venture out; but he really liked it so that was a win as well. The Mac & Cheese was just ok, IMO so I'd probably opt for a different side next time...because there will be. But don't let that detour you from trying it because maybe it'll be your thing. And the fries seemed to be good too from what my son said. The Kool-Aid drink he really liked at well and said it reminded him of the drinks at Fixins' in Oak Park. The Sweet was ok too, but I think that because it was lemon flavored which I'm not a fan of, but it was good enough to finish.
NOTE: Prices have increased since the menus at the counter were last printed. When I dined here the menus said the Rib platter meal we ordered were $15. But they were actually almost $18; Yelp however is updated with the correct prices. The in-house menus should just be scrapped or prices manually changed.
Overall: With the bustling conversation and laughter throughout the night, at the counter between patrons and staff. Louisiana Heaven gave me that feeling of a local gem of a restaurant that everyone loves. I felt like I was dining back in Oakland or somewhere else dining with family.
The staff was also very friendly and the food was really good. Would definitely check them out again!
