Where to Find the Best Late-Night Food in the East Bay

"Seven days a week, Lounge Chinatown is open and ready to dish up its menu focused on Taiwanese and Chinese street food until 2:30 a.m. With its nightclub-meets-night market decor, lighting, and ambiance, Lounge Chinatown is the ideal place to end your night. Yes, the menu is extensive (read: potentially overwhelming), but the classics are always a solid place to start, beginning with comforting beef noodle soup and its wide, slurpable noodles and slow-cooked beef shank. If it’s too hard to choose, go with the hot pot or one of their specialty bento boxes — you can’t miss." - Lena Park

This was some of the best Taiwanese food I’ve had in the bay area. We tried a variety of dishes and everything was excellent. The fried foods were perfectly made. The braised pork bento was also delicious and probably my favorite item. The soy milk seemed homemade and was tasty as well. The value is really good and the portions are large. I’d definitely recommend and would come back again.

Google
First stint trying out Taiwanese cuisine. Restaurant was pretty empty, so we got seat right away. Food was fresh and tasty, and portions are huge. The crunch on the fried food is really good, I recommend the fried calamari & popcorn chicken

Google
The service wasn’t great, but it’s the stinky tofu we came for specifically. It was fantastic, so we didn’t mind the service that was overly direct and a bit rough around the edges. I especially liked the fried stinky tofu, which was reminiscent of stinky tofu I got in Asia. The Sichuan tofu was also quite good and a unique take on the classic.

Update: the service has gotten slower these days The food was great!! The flavors were perfect. The pork dumplings just made my day. The serving size was significant too. Definitely will be going back. They're open till 3am and have rooms for karaoke too.

Google
Our first time in this restaurant, we saw they have decent reviews on Google map. But we didn’t expect turned out to a such first fun night after we arrived in Oakland. They have flavorful food, friendly staffs, open to midnight hours and courage in Karaoke. Definitely recommend.

Google
Delicious and authentic Taiwanese cuisine! The stinky tofu tastes just like the real thing I ate at a night market when I went to Taiwan, down to the taste and texture! Very veggie friendly.

Came here to get a quick bite before our concert on a Tuesday night. The spot was fairly empty so we got seated right away. We ordered: popcorn chicken, fried tofu, ground pork noodles, dumplings, fried corn and cucumbers. I will say the fried corn was my favorite with its crispness and unique flavors. Everything else was bland :( the cucumbers were also lacking taste too. The dumplings didn’t come with special sauce, just soy sauce, and the noodles were extremely oily. Room to improve but the decor is super cool and authentic. They also do hotpot which I didn’t get to try. The whole meal was around $75 including tips.

Google
Lounge Chinatown impressed us with its extensive offerings, ranging from a lively Full Bar with Karaoke to Taiwanese Traditional Street Food, Hot Pot, Malatang, Bento, and BBQ selections. Our tasting included the Thousand Year Egg Tofu with Scallions, Combination Platter, and Pork Blood Cake, each possessing unique flavors. *My visit was in February 2023, and I regret to learn that the restaurant is currently closed. Hopefully, they'll swiftly reopen to share their delightful range of dishes once more.

Yelp
This place was an unexpected gem. Very fun ambiance inside transported you to a hip downtown street with neon, lanterns, and cozy wooden booths inside as a rotation of pop music videos played on a tv screen. Had the thousand year egg tofu, popcorn shrimp, salt and pepper tofu, and pickled cucumber. The popcorn shrimp was especially good, with crispy thai basil in the plate. Beer on draft and a selection of liquor, tea, and drinks available. Loved the tapas style menu, allowing us to try a few plates without feeling overwhelmed or breaking the bank. Yum!

Yelp
Sad that this place went far below my expectations. I was searching for places to grab snacks and drinks with friends and stumbled upon Lounge Chinatown. Looked promising from the pictures online, with the interior decor, a bar and drink options, and food. We went on Saturday night at 8PM. And it was just pure disappointment from start to finish. When we got there, it felt like there was no music or very low volume music, so the vibe was strange. I asked for a drink menu and they didn't have any. They literally said it's only shots ($12 shots). I asked if they can make mixed drinks and they said I can order them separately and make it myself. Bruh. The server helping us also spoke very little English so it was hard to communicate. We asked for hot chrysanthemum tea and he just gave us something from the fridge LOL. The food was pretty okay - popcorn chicken and fried chicken skin would be 3.5/5. We did accidentally order the baked oyster, and it was relatively tasty and doused in jarlic (jar garlic). I'd give it 3.5/5. The vibes weren't there, the service and food was mid, and I don't think I would go back or recommend to friends unless they change to a more effective system (for drinking) and revamp the vibes.

Yelp
This review comprises two different visits, both for takeout. The first time I went, since we had ordered a bunch of food at once - chicken bento, pork bento, tea eggs, and salt and pepper fried tofu - the staff offered us a deal of jasmine milk tea for $2 each, so we got one of those. The second time, I opted to only get the salt and pepper fried tofu for myself. Salt and pepper fried tofu: It's pretty good, I thought the crispy texture of the exterior of the tofu and the saltiness were yummy. It was kind of spicy but that's mostly manageable/at mild a level unless you try to eat the red peppers, which are very spicy. Jasmine milk tea: It was fine, didn't stand out in particular taste wise but it was a good deal. Tea eggs: they were yummy, but they were still in their shells so it was a bit annoying trying to get the cracked shells off in order to eat the eggs. The food portions are quite generous for the price. The one thing I wish was different was that they offered more vegetarian options. It would be really nice if they offered a bento with tofu or some kind of plant-based protein, as most of the menu is meat-dominated.

Yelp
Came for lunch recently. It was pretty popping with students eating lunch together and a lot of different demographics of people. The menu was a bit hard to read because I did get overwhelmed lol but after a while it was all good There's one staff working the floor but honestly did really well considering how many customers there were at the time. Food came out super quick too! My favorite was the stinky tofu!! Delicious and loved how it had plenty of pickled veggies on top and sauce on the side. The pork stomach was good but not spicy enough ;) I got the spicy braise noodle soup part of the lunch special but it wasn't spicy. However, the broth is not too salty and tasted pretty good like grandma made it lol! I didn't order any drinks because it is premade and already has sugar added. The music is LIT lol Would come back! Yay!

Yelp
Admittedly, I went here expecting there to be karaoke after doing an online search and was told this was one of the top spots-- there was no karaoke. Since we were there, we decided to order drinks and food. My friend ordered tequila and they gave her Jameson and I ordered a vodka soda but they didn't have club soda, sparkling water or sprite so I ended up with vodka and ice. We both ordered plates but they didn't mention they were so big. One would've been big enough for both of us. They were welcoming and did what they could.

Yelp
Have been here and ordered take out a few times at this point. Excellent Taiwanese food, relatively authentic flavors and offerings, plenty of items to choose from on the menu. The restaurant has a cool entry design and decor, and is a good place to bring a group for late night adventures (they open until 2:30 AM). For both dine-in and takeout, the staff seem overwhelmed and especially for delivery order, it takes extremely long even though the kitchen seems to be able to put out food pretty quickly. Some items were a miss but most of them were good. To me it's one of those places you just have to know what to order. Another slight complaint is that the restaurant is quite loud with music playing - although it is advertised that they have karaoke available, so maybe that's the vibe you want to go for when that is offered. We also raised a safety issue to the staff last time we visited, after sustaining a minor injury. The staff looked at the issue but did not offer any help or solution. Not a huge deal but does concern me a bit.

Yelp
I had heard this Oakland Chinatown spot had a cool 'night market' vibe that I had hoped would evoke fond memories of my previous trips to Asia. The stylish decor was effective, in particular, the wallpaper capturing the hectic bustle of a rainy night market. What didn't help was the inordinately curt service from the main server. There was little sense of welcome during my visit. I had arrived late on a Monday afternoon when I was feeling a bit parched. When I sat myself at the bar, I was told they were not serving cocktails even though a vast array of liquor bottles was on full display. If they were lacking a bartender, I wish they would just say so instead of looking offended that I asked. I decided rather impulsively that I should try something from their menu. I selected the $9 Fried Chicken Gizzards under the Salt Crispy Cuisine section. It was an abundant bowl of them, blisteringly hot, too hot to eat upon arrival (photo Check out this photo I saw on Yelp! https://yelp.to/fKUoTtQJO_). They provided the right chew but really didn't elevate my palate. I just needed a Diet Coke to douse the heat. The server never did warm to me, and my departure didn't warrant her acknowledgment. Oh well, I can be a day drinker somewhere else. FOOD - 3 stars...OK street food if you fancy innards AMBIANCE - 4 stars...nice job on the night market decor SERVICE - 2 stars...not sure what I did to offend her except exist TOTAL - 3 stars...nice idea, needs work RELATED - Exploring Oakland? Yelp
It's interesting Chinese spot with a sports bar feel slightly . They has a very limited bar with no mixers. The Sake prices were way too high, so we passed! The food was mid. They give you a plastic menu with a dry erase marker and you have to fill in the circle for everything that you want to order. It's an extremely large menu. we ordered prawns, shrimp, fried rice, fried octopus , and chicken bites.

Yelp
Two of my sisters and I dined here yesterday for a birthday lunch. I always order the same menu item, ma po tofu over steamed rice. Other items ordered were fried chicken bento box, pork belly bento box, fried green beans and beef tongue. The beef tongue is good, but the beef tendon is better. We do miss Jessica who was our server in the past. It is taking us time to get used to the new server. He is okay. Conversation is in Mandarin, which I don't speak much of in that dialect. Since we come here quite often when we get together for lunch in Oakland Chinatown, I have decided to raise the restaurant to a five star. Definitely there will be more visits to Lounge Chinatown in the future.

Yelp
We walked over last night in the rain assuming the hours listed on Yelp were accurate (5p to 1a daily) and arrived to a dark & chained up entrance around 6:30p. This was a second attempt to dine here... We had come by a few weeks ago to the same chained up entrance. I checked the restaurant's website, it was still active for online orders for pickup. Not sure what is going on... I do know the owner reopened Dragon Gate a few months ago in Jack London - maybe they are having a hard time staffing both locations?

Yelp
Seeing that Lounge Chinatown is nearby and stays open until 2:30am, I wanted to see what it was all about. Since the closing of Dragon Gate in Jack London last year I have been looking for some sort of replacement, but my search has been unsuccessful. We were seated immediately upon entry. It was pretty packed for a Monday night and all of the booths were full. They also have a full bar, so it was looking promising. After searching through the menu and being undecided for ten minutes on whether I wanted a bento box or something else, I opted for the garlic noodles with shrimp and mushroom added on. It was alright. The noodles weren't dry, but ive had better and the shrimp? It was cooked fine but for the large plate of noodles I had there were only 4 shrimp. I ate as much as I could, but I neglected to grab a takeout container for later. I knew I wouldn't want it later and normally I just don't reheat garlic noodles. My bf got the minced pork noodle soup but they came unminced and full of bone. No biggie because he finished his. Anyway, from the crowd that was inside when we arrived it seems they are well liked. It was just a miss for me.

Yelp
Lounge Chinatown is a Taiwanese restaurant in the heart of Chinatown, Oakland. They serve authentic Taiwanese dishes that don't break the bank, their portions are also really generous. I've been here twice now and each time, I have leftovers for another meal or two. My most recent visit, I opted for minced pork over noodles with pickled veggies. I liked that the minced pork wasn't dripping in oil, yet it still got the flavors within the noodles. Another time I got the slow braised pork belly bento, that was really good. The meat was really tender and all the sides in the bento paired nicely. I've only dined here for lunch and it's usually not too busy where I can have a conversation. The interior isn't a lounge so to speak, booths are available if you prefer to sit in one instead of a table. The parking situation is tough in this area with limited street parking or garages in the surrounding area, not too far from BART and lots of bus lines nearby. Looking forward to trying other dishes. #4/2024

Yelp
I had an appointment in the area, so we decided to try out this place for lunch. I got lucky and found parking right across the street, although there was paid parking near by. We arrived and got a nice big booth for my little family. a lot of the menu was street food style with skewers, pickled and salted appetizers and then you had the meals - bentos, rice plates and noodle soups. The menu was extensive. They have a variety of drinks, bottled beer and draft beer by Alameda Brewing Company. The Island Haze IPA and a Mango beer. We ordered one of each and got a pot of tea as well. I ordered French fries for my kid to start, she loves them and she will eat other items off our plates. Once those come out, she is a happy customer too. We ordered the spicy meat wontons and green chive with pork dumplings to share. These were very good and tasted fresh, flavorful and loved the spice from the spicy ones. I got a soup of the day for $3, a delicious and spicy hot and sour soup. My boyfriend ordered the spicy braised beef udon, which was so rich and flavorful, the meat was soft and fall apart tender. The food was GOOD!! It was a pretty fun lunch ordering these different items and took a little to go for another snack later on. Try this place out!

Yelp
It is a nice looking restaurant. The garlic noodle recipe ends up with wet kinda soupy noodles. They weren't very garlic but still tasted pretty good. Maybe a little less sugar. The bbq skewers that I got: pork, chicken, and beef- we're all cooked well but way too much seasoning and salt. The waiter was nice but doesn't speak English. I also ordered a Diet Coke and corn but those never ended up on the order. I didn't get charged so it was okay. I would come back if the noodles were less soupy and the skewers were properly seasoned.

Yelp
Ever since Taiwan Bento closed down to make space for Edith's Pie in Uptown Oakland, I've been missing a good place to go to get Taiwanese bento boxes. I was thrilled when I heard about Lounge Chinatown. My wife and I ordered two bentos yesterday: one fried pork chop bento and one fried chicken steak garlic noodle bento. In short, the bentos were delicious and filled the void left by Taiwan Bento's closure. The proteins are seasoned well, not overly salty, incredibly tender, and not greasy. The fried pork chop bento comes with ground pork over rice, but it's not lou rou fan, so the oiliness is dialed down quite a bit. If you're looking for something incredibly decadent, definitely go for a bento with garlic noodles, as the noodles are drowning in delicious garlic and butter. The braised hard boiled egg and veggies are a nice touch to round out the bento. I can't wait to stop by again to pick-up another bento -- really good food for the price.

Yelp
Went and enjoyed a family style meal. All the pictured menu items (including crispy green beans) satisfied a family of five people. Service was quick and pleasant and we did not wait a long time for food to be prepared and served. Thursday night was a perfect evening to go - not crowded and easy to seat a large group.

Yelp
Recently checked out Lounge Chinatown with a friend. We ended up getting the green onion pancake (not pictured) and the fried chicken bento. I have to say that the garlic noodles were excellent. The chicken was nice and crunchy with good flavor and a solid portion. I will say that I ordered some minced pork on the side and that was only so so. Overall, I thought the food was good and had a solid value. I dug the vibe in the place as well and appreciate how it's open late. I'll probably come back.

Yelp
Excellent food!!! The flavors were not my traditional Chinese food I was used to it was so much more deeper flavors that I was definitely not expecting. The food was hot and delicious. We were there early so we were lucky to have a in detail conversation about popular dishes with the host. After I gave my preferences they suggested dishes and they were absolutely correct. This restaurant has such a cool vibe with Chinese/ Taiwan pop and rap music. The decor is fun and the restaurant was clean. Absolutely 10/10 This will be our go to restaurant I. Oakland

Yelp
Passing through Oakland and wanted to stop by Chinatown for lunch prior to our final destination. Been meaning to pay Lounge Chinatown a visit after reading rave reviews. The ambiance and design is modern yet with a traditional feel, small and cozy with majority as booth seating. Great for date night, or to just chill with friends and family. Warriors game playing on two screens, and 'Voice China' playing on another with the sound system. The service is friendly. The food delicious. Recommend: -Wings -Stir fried noodles -potstickers I'm always in the mood for salt and pepper fried chicken wings . Perfectly fried and flavored with a tender juicy interior. Certainly, down for some noodles as well. Stir fried to perfect tenderness served with a flavorful luscious sauce. The pork and shrimp potstickers were beautifully pan fried and juicy without being overly greasy. Would definitely make it a point to return to Lounge Chinatown. Thank you Chefs and service staff.

Yelp
I've been here way too many times not to leave a review. Food is always good, no matter if it's just steamed rice. Customer service is on point. Prices went up a little, however very much worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
Does anyone know what's going on? LC has been closed for over a month! So sad because it was sooo good!!!
google avatar

Joey T.

Yelp
Probably one of the best late night Chinese food I've ever had. Right in the middle of Chinatown. Garlic noodles are a must try. The fried wings were crispy and juicy! The fried rice did what it was supposed to do. The potstickers could've been cooked more. They were a little soggy and I made my own dipping sauce with soy sauce, vinegar and sesame oil. 5 star review for being opened late!!!

Yelp
We found this place while looking for a bite in Chinatown late at night. We found large portions of authentic food for really reasonable prices, and have been back a few times - once with a friend from Hong Kong. The sha cha noodles with chicken, beef soup, and chicken and egg fried rice are all yummy and leave ample leftovers.

Yelp
is this place closed? we tried to go on a friday night (7pm) and literally walked in the rain to meet a closed and locked up restaurant front. a few recent reviews have said the same.

Yelp
Late night Taiwanese spot open in Oakland if you want to eat and drink. We came here on a Saturday night for something to eat, we got the house soup, popcorn chicken, some dumplings. Service was quick and pretty flowing, their food looks pretty good, vibrant and if you want to drink some beer it's also a good spot. They were kind of busy and we had to wait a little to get seated and served but a perfect spot for some late night eats while going out in Oakland. There's street parking but never leave anything in your cars.

Yelp
Compared with last year, beef noodle soup is so mid now. Tasteless. The server was in a rush, spent like $50, probably would not come back.

Yelp

Yelp
Cool vibes. Big extensive menu with delicious food. Mona our server was great, very helpful and friendly. One of the few spots left in Oakland that's opened late for food and drinks.

Yelp
There are pros and cons of this place, and this is based on the take out for a Taiwanese bento. For $19, I ordered the pork knuckle/pig feet and it was tasty but the sauce got everywhere, including the orange slices. Additionally, I did not know that there was peanuts in the dish. I have a slight nut allergy, but not super harmful, so it is not the worse thing. However, for people that have a deadly nut allergy, I would hope that when ordering in Doordash, there should be a note that there are peanuts. I did love the braised pork belly over rice, better if the rice wasn't a big clump, would would be better if I dined in. But overall I would try the other bento like the fried chicken or fried pork chop, just to try the dishes that are less saucy.

Carol K.

Yelp
The restaurant was closed! Padlocked! Had arranged a family dinner, who traveled in from out of town. DON'T TRUST INFORMATION ON YELP! Make your reservations directly with restaurant

Brie L.

Yelp
They closed!!! I had made reservations online but when I showed up it was gated, locked, and the mail box was full. Definitely closed for a minute by the looks of it, I was bummed they've still allowed people to make reservations. After the Lyft dropped us off, we were left in a pretty unsafe neighborhood. Not a pleasant experience.

Yelp
Very authentic Taiwanese food & such a hidden gem for a late night meal! Good service & good vibes. Will definitely eat here often!

Yelp
We went there on Saturday close to noon and got seated right away. The restaurant is in the Oakland Chinatown. The service was good, they gave us complimentary salted peanuts which was tasty. We ordered popcorn chicken, gyoza, wonton In chili oil, bbq stinky tofu, stinky tofu in spicy sauce, and malatang with beef, fish balls, pork balls, mushroom. I am very happy they offer stinky tofu in different ways other than fried but my favorite is still fried stinky tofu. Overall I am pretty happy with this place where they offer good selections of Taiwanese food. Seating booths inside of the restaurant looks pretty cool. Parking is street parking but we parked indoor at nearby shopping center which cost around $4.
google avatar

Yelp
It's kind a rare to see a well decorated restaurant in Oakland chinatown, but I would say this restaurant is an exception. It's not quite spacious inside, but the booth is still a good spot for 3-4 ppl. Service is really good here, they're extremely friendly and helpful. But I guess they're still new business, they have a quite confusing menu which I believe they're working on it now. I would say the Taiwanese street food here is so authentic, which really reminds me of the days when I traveled in Taiwan. Btw shacha sauce noodles are so good and rare to see at other restaurants.

Yelp
Our first visit and we were greeted by waitstaff before we had even entered. The space has a club vibe making it feel like being on the street. The menu and how to order was explained and very soon after ordering our food arrived. All was fresh, piping hot, plentiful and good! we plan to return and encourage others to give it a try!

Yelp
Finally a spot in east bay that sells decent Taiwanese food and snackies! The vibes here definitely transport me to Asia, and I am all for it. After ordering, they brought out the peanuts and Taiwanese pickled cabbage, which is a fantastic start to the experience at Lounge Chinatown. I had been craving popcorn chicken, and you know it's legit when they come with fried basil. A little disappointing because I felt like my chicken was a little cold and dry. I loved the fried oyster mushroom. Very QQ and juicy. Would recommend this. I also saw stinky tofu on the menu, so I HAD TO GET IT. It indeed was stinky and delicious. Side note: If you hate the smell of stinky tofu, you might want to avoid this place because the whole restaurant smelled like stinky tofu. We got the fried stinky tofu, and the way to eat it is to pair it with the pickled cabbage. Not sure what is going on with the stinky tofu sauce- it was kinda watery. We originally wanted the mala stinky tofu, but the server told us that that one was NOT fried so we opted out. I was a little disappointed that they ran out some of the items I wanted to order such as the pork blood cake and jellyfish appetizer.

Yelp
I've been to this place a couple of times and had great service when it was the young lady who attended us but yesterday was not a pleasant experience. I ordered noodles and received overcooked old dry rice the chicken was drenched in salt and it tasted like it was made with old frying oil. I was on a date and she got sick I called the waiter and let him know my order was wrong and showed him what I had wanted and he said they don't make that plate when the picture I showed him was made at this establishment he didn't even try to correct their mistake we gave the food a try and it was horrible. The waiters who attended us did not look the happiest both had bad attitudes!

Yelp
Authentic and delicious food in huge portions but slow service. Don't come here if you're in a hurry. My friend and I came for Friday dinner before a show and it took longer than I expected to order and get our food. We arrived around 5:20 pm and were one of the first groups seated. It got much busier later around 5:45/6, and the restaurant was full by the time we left. The menu is huge, and honestly it was hard to decide what to order. It's well organized into a couple of sections: rice and bento boxes, noodle dishes, cold dishes, salty fried dishes, special appetizers, dumplings, soups, and hotpot. There's also a menu that looks like it's for skewers in either malatang or lu wei flavored soup?? We ended up sharing the fried salt and pepper tofu ($12) and the garlic noodles bento with fried chicken steak ($17). Both were phenomenal and came in big portions. The two dishes were more than enough for us to share. The tofu was some of the best fried tofu I've had, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with the perfect amount of five spice flavor. The bento was also delicious. It comes with some pickled veggies, a tea egg, and yu choy with sauce in addition to the garlic noodles and the chicken steak. Every single item was really good. The garlic noodles were super buttery and I thought the chicken was flavored and fried perfectly. We left a little bit late for the concert but with very happy stomachs. Please note that they include 15% service charge already, so don't accidentally tip extra! We did think it was a bit odd that they would charge automatic 15% tip for our party of 2, but oh well.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night at about 7pm for dinner, got a table fairly fast. The interior is pretty interesting, the walls have photo wraps of a old Taiwanese street food vibe. The restaurant itself is small may about 15 to 20 tables. Garlic Noodled with mushroom was very good and the mushroom went well with it. - 5 Stars BBQ Oysters is nothing to write home about as it was very small and the butter garlic didn't go well with it. - 1 Star Pork w/ Chives Dumplings was very good with great flavor went very well with the house made chili oil. - 4.5 Stars Now Chicken Fried Rice, I must say, it is the BEST I ever had. Not sure if they marinate the chicken pieces, but seem like they did because it was very flavorful and tasty. Overall of this dish was perfect!!! - 10 Stars As stated on their menu which I didn't see until I read some of the reviews on Yelp after we were there, a gratuity is automatically added as a service charge. I completely missed that, so I ended up tip another 20%, so they got over 30% on me. I'm not too mad because my saying is if the food and serivce was good I don't might paying or tipping.

Yelp
Went there with a friend on a Monday night. The place was pretty empty, 6 total guests across 3 separate tables. First off, the food was good and it came promptly. We had the braised pork bento box, garlic noodles, chicken feet & popcorn chicken. Everything came out hot and delicious. Sadly, the good food doesn't make up for the rather terrible service. Our young male waiter seem annoyed at our presence from the beginning, and begrudgingly took our orders and gave an attitude whenever I asked for a water refill and even when I asked for the check at the end. 2 incidents that threw me off: 1. Waiter did not know ANYTHING about types of liquor, despite the establishment actually possessing a full bar. We had asked for a gin & tonic, and the waiter instructed me (a customer!) to go behind the bar to tell him which bottle is a gin because he didn't know which is which. I chose a Hendricks gin, which was empty, so I switched to a Tito's vodka & soda. The waiter then took out a hard seltzer from the mini fridge, asking me if that's a soda (it obviously was not) before declaring they don't have soda at the bar. Me and my friend shared 2 shots of vodka served in 2 separate cups, along with an unopened sprite. I basically had to mix my own drink. 2. When I asked for my credit card back after paying. The waiter walked away to the kitchen without saying anything, which left me dumbfounded to say the least. Then, another table who the waiter gave back their card actually walked over to me with MY CREDIT CARD, saying they're pretty sure the waiter mistakenly left my card at their table. I was speechless. I will not be back.

Yelp
We found this place while looking for somewhere to est that was open late, and man this place was super cool! The lighting and atmosphere is very bar-like, service was super friendly, and it was basically exactly what you'd be looking for in a late-night spot. The food menu is extensive and looks incredible. We only got some of the lighter snacks, but they had a huge menu that I'm itching to try more of (especially the hot pot). The crispy baby squid was my personal favorite, I'd highly recommend as an appetizer.

Yelp
Stinky tofu!!! So hard to find. It was not as good as Taiwan but it definitely had a stank kick Open til 3am everyday! Super fun spot with karaoke. They have a karaoke system and you can also use YouTube. There's 2 mics with a great sound system. Fun hip decor and several TVs to watch while there. Very large menu with hotpot, and lots of fried/ bbq food, snack items I really enjoyed their bbq, liked the seasoning they put on everything They only had the napa cabbage dumplings in stock when we came but the dumplings are super good. I like the thick skin! Very friendly service. Huge menu, but they do help to explain things. Full bar We came on a Sunday night and still had a blast Bring all your friends!

Yelp
New late night spot in Chinatown that is open until 3am? You know I had to give it a try! They seem to have a lot of different options here including mala hot pot. Came here for lunch and it was pretty empty. Here's what we ordered: - Garlic Noodles : probably the best thing we ordered, very garlicky and creamy - Minced Pork over Rice : so worth $5, very flavorful - Fried Chicken Skin : super crispy, kind of a small portion for the price but not bad - Fried Baby Squid : pretty chewy, I think the calamari would've been easier to eat - Braised spicy beef dumplings : not too spicy, meat was tender and the dumplings were pretty good Overall, pretty impressed. I see myself coming here again, maybe for hot pot and definitely for late night.

Yelp
I wanted to treat myself to a nice meal in Oakland's beautiful Chinatown, but it was almost 11 pm. Lounge Chinatown is such a kind and welcoming local business, they seated me at the bar after I placed myself on the Yelp waitlist 20 mins prior, and immediately asked what I had a taste for. I was able to mark on the menu what I wanted, which was easy with the dry eraser marker. I started with 8 chicken wings which were perfectly fried and seasoned and came with lots of veggies. For the alcoholic drinks, I asked for 2 glasses of plum wine, a bud light, and a shot of grey goose, For my entire, I ordered the lamb stir fry noodles, which were perfectly thick and seasoned with green onions, parsley, peppers, and other herbs and ingredients. Definitely gonna be my new comfort food but I could not finish the large portions so I recommend splitting plates. Can I also add, the music on YouTube was amazing (all the Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry 2010 bops!) They also have Karaoke if you request which I will come back for!!

Yelp
This locale has changed owners and concepts so much, they should tack on each new signage with velcro. The new owners, Lounge Chinatown, are only a month settled in, but I hope they stick (pun unintended). Their food selection is extensive. They have their main menu, a hot pot pay per dish menu, and a street food menu ($5 for most dishes). We just ordered two things from the main menu. The first was the Fried Chicken Garlic Noodle Bento with Wings option. The garlic noodles were fully infused with a sweet garlic fragrance. However, they were a bit soft to me. I prefer my noodles al dente. The chicken wings were delicately fried, yielding a thin, crispy crust. The 5-spice flavored coating gave them a nice, Chinese-style touch. There were also a variety of pickled veggies and cooked ones in the bento box. The other dish was the Braised Tofu with Seafood over Rice, which had a balanced mixture of tofu and tender seafood, including calamari and fish. The sticky rice was done well, featuring smaller grains and a soft texture. The highlight was a subtle smoky aroma that pervaded all the contents in the stone bowl. Lounge Chinatown offers a fun, karaoke party vibe with their music and colored spinning lights. The three big screens in the back are great for watching games. There's a quaint bar in the corner. The service was also superb. Three different wait staff eventually asked if we needed anything. And then the owner also came by to check. Also note, as is stated on their menu, a gratuity is automatically added as a service charge. Needless to say, we'll be back. Looking forward especially to trying their street food menu.
