L'Ours

Really enjoy the food with its delicate creation to enlighten the unforgettable moment. A true treat. However the service does have the space to improve. One thing I noticed there’s only one sommelier that night to handle at least ten tables. Not an easy task. That’s why I won’t blame him for delaying two pairing glasses while the food is already presented. Maybe that’s the holiday without enough staffs. Hope it won’t happen again in other nights. Overall I still enjoy the tasting menu and the wine pairing suggestion.

For 250 EUR per person, we left hungry and dissapointed: - Ordered wine to match the dishes, waiters only provided 4 wines to 'match' 5 dishes. Later gave half an apology but honestly the experience by that point was already ruined and we just wanted to get our. - Eagerly waited for the main couse, the pièce de résistance, only to receive... boring chicken!! In a place designed like a hunter's lodge with a hunters' knives on the table and a huge bear to welcome you at the door I was sure to receive something more appropriate than the plainest, most possibly boring ingredient. - Finally, the waiters are completely unprofessional and were clearly never trained. None of them was coordinated with the others, glasses never refilled, attention never given and when it was time to pay we had to physically go and disturb them as they were busy chatting with each other in a hidden corner. I've had better service in most kebab restaurants. Stay away if you're looking for a good time. It's clear the owner has no more passion for his work. What a shame.

Highly recommend! The food was excellent and was presented in a very pleasing way. The service was top-notch and they even spoke English to us, which was very appreciated. The atmosphere was elegant and felt very suave. Many of the tables had a good view of the kitchen and you could see the Sous chef hard at work, making final touches to make the dishes perfect. The meats were done at the exact right level, the sauces incredible and the bread was fresh and delicious. The deserts were top-notch and were an excellent way to end the nights. I also recommend the wine pairing, they did a great job matching flavors. Thanks to the team at L’Ours for the great evening!

This restaurant does not deserve your time or money. Amature service by untrained staff. OK food (At best) that left us hungry. Clearly the Michelin inspectors haven't visited for a long time, and the owner takes advantage of it. Maybe at some point it was a good restaurant, today it looks like 99% of customers are local retirees/pensioners that come because it's convinient, not becuase it's any good.

Amazing restaurant that has a Michelin start. The menu is based on local product s, the design is beautiful and food was delicious. Extremely recommended.

Food and restaurant decor was fantastic. We did end up being there for around 4 hours so quite a long dinner. I would say if the service could be worked on a little bit, I can see the 2nd star coming soon. Just little things such as Water was only filled upon request and wait times between courses was a little long.

Went in here because we were looking for cool cocktails and were intrigued by the photos. Server was not friendly, but hey, it's Paris. I ordered the William Pear which was a disappointment. Had the overwhelming flavour of very cheap whiskey. Daughter ordered a different one that she enjoyed but definitely didn't look like the photos online. Don't think we'll go back.

BEWARE OF THE EEL. MY WIFE BECAME VERY SICK. This review will be as frenetic as my experience at Jacky Ribault's L'Ours newly Michelin crowned restaurant in Vincennes, a chi chi town, located a stone's throw from Paris by RER. The design and space are magnificent! This is a beautiful restaurant, large, but with nooks and crannies creating intimacy. The emerald greens, oriental rugs, and gold leaf reflect an oriental richness, reminding each patron you are sitting in a special place. That is, until you look up. An incongruous, industrial roof will stare back at you, in total discord with the rest of the design. Je ne comprend pas? An army of tuxedo clad men, no women, scurry about, supposedly ensuring excellent, if not chauvinist, service. I rejected our first table, tucked away in a corner near the kitchen, and chose a spot with a bright window so we could both peer outside and see the food. A huge flower arrangement sat on our table, blocking our view and the server's sight line. This will prove to be a major obstacle. Discarding any thought of the offered 45 Euro three course lunch menu, we opted for the five course 75 Euro menu, and awaited the culinary performance. The Amuse Bouch was wonderful, with unique explosions of flavor. Our first course of Sea Bream, a sweet beet sauce, and the tiniest sliver of shaved pork belly was delicious as the beets complimented the fish masterfully. A side of Barley Risotto was a light, earthy partner. The next serving destroyed my wife's taste buds. A fishy, overly rich, broiled piece of eel with a sesame Nori, overpowered any other sensation. It was nuclear, too heavy to enjoy. That dish ended my wife's lunch. She barely hung in there as I ate the rest of the meal. Asleep an hour after lunch, she asked me to cancel tonight's dinner reservation. A Japanese inspired broth followed and then a Capon. Everything was good, but not necessarily memorable. Desserts were a nice, fruit soufflé and a goat milk concoction. Portions were hearty and most of the chef's creations tasted good, but not fantastic. The army of tuxedo clad dudes proved "well meaning," but were without leadership or direction. They all shared service and tables, thus ensuring no one received personal attention. They completely forgot my wife's wine, and I had to remind them about my vodka three times. However, they always found time to escort me to the toilet. Thank you very much. The huge flower arrangement sitting in front of our faces didn't help the sight lines at all. Service looked a bit like the old Keystone Cops movies. "Which way did they go!" The bill for lunch came to 224 Euros, including one glass of wine, two vodkas, and a small bottle of Perrier. That's a lot of money for just a good meal in a fabulous space. I would say it was all show with no substance, but that would be false. Chef Ribault can cook his ass off. He just needs some structure and form. He also needs a good manager to captain the front of the house. It is a real mess. I will not return to L'Ours, and that makes me sad. The interior alone may be worth the trip. Install a bar, and the 20 minute train ride would be worth it. As it stands, Michelin must have been there on a good night. BEWARE OF THE EEL. MY WIFE BECAME VERY ILL. .

We've had two lunches now at L'Ours, one in November 2018, and one recently in June 2019. Both were beyond excellent. Service and food both perfection. We travel to Paris every year and stay a month, during which we eat in many small bistros that have been recommended by friends, blogs or other websites. We plan and hope to return to L'Ours again and again. It is a short walk from the end of Line 1 metro, although the RER is much quicker.
