I have been to LOV a few times, both at the Centropolis and McGill locations. Before yesterday's visit I had only been for supper (where kimchi fries are a must). This was my first brunch.
We ordered three main dishes, and two extras on the side: the "Cabane", kale mac and cheese, and the apple pancakes as mains, and extra apple and maple sausage as well as "tempeh de Lupin" on the side. For drinks, we stuck to coffees: latte, cappucino, and americano.
The "Cabane" was great, a generous portion of beans, potatoes, sausage, avocado and cherry tomatoes that comes in a cast iron pot. The flavours remind me of a sugar shack meal, which is what the dish was named after.
The apple pancakes were really good, and gluten free to boot. If you are not GF you might have an issue with the texture not being exactly the same as wheat flour pancakes, but if you are familiar with GF baking, you know the struggle. The pancakes came topped with fresh fruit and a type of spiced (cashew?) cream.
The kale man and cheese was not the best batch I have had from LOV, I preferred the one I had on McGill (there was an extra tang that was missing at Centropolis). But overall still a solid option.
Now, the secret to brunch at LOV is to order some extras on the side, they are low priced and the portions are much more generous than I expected for the price. Don't skip out on the tempeh de Lupin, if you don't like tempeh, it will change your mind. The texture is great, and the sauce is rich and tangy.
Coffees are quality, I recommend those as well.
The whole bill for 3 people came out to 64$ (with tax, before tip). We came with big appetites and left there full. I give 5 stars to LOV for brunch based on quality of ingredients, service, decor, and quality/price ratio.
Extra tip: I suggest you reserve a table for brunch, space is limited and it is a popular restaurant.
