Love & Light Cafe

Great place overall! The owner is a great guy definitely enjoyed my first coffee and lunch sandwich! “The Reggie” Food was delicious very aesthetically pleased, gave a home kind of vibe. I will definitely be back. This place is an absolute gem!

Visited this warm and friendly Love & Light gift the first time and they truly lived up to their name. I was immediately greeted with a smile and sincere welcome. Menu options were clear and easy to choose from. Excellent and satisfying breakfast sandwich. The croissant was very soft, fresh and perfectly toasted and held my extra perfectly cooked turkey bacon and eggs with cheese. I give Service, Food and Cozy environment a 10/10.

Sooo good! The man who took our orders was very kind and helpful. Such a welcoming environment. The prices are great as well. I have nothing bad to say about this place except that I wish it was closer to where I live. (Across the country 😂) I got a blueberry muffin for 4$ and incredible waffles for 8$. When they come out they look very tiny, but they fill you up and are very rich. Don’t hesitate to go to light and love cafe!

Brunch before a wedding with the mother of the bride was peaceful, loving, and faithful in this sweet calm environment with delicious food and life sustaining coffee!! Pleasant, friendly stafd make the whole experience very memorable!!

Nice little, two table, corner cafe with a supper cute mood photo wall. I ordered a egg/cheese/ham croissant with some red velvet cookies and a fresh juice. I had a pleasant experience & was happy to support this local business.

Had the pleasure of attending an event that was held at this café on Friday night. The staff and the atmosphere were nice. I look forward to visiting the café again definitely worth a stop in!

Needed a spot to work uninterrupted with wi fi for 2 hours while eating/supporting a local business. Service was great and the noise level was low enough to concentrate on my project.

I hate leaving a less-than-positive review for a local, independent business, but I think it's worthwhile to warn other customers to ask about price, since there aren't any prices listed on their menu for some reason! I rarely get sticker shock, but I ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk, and it somehow came out to more than $9. I imagine $6 base price + a dollar for flavor + a dollar for oat milk + a dollar for taxes and other fees? The latte was fine, but that's the most expensive coffee I've ever ordered, and I go to a lot of coffee shops. I have heard the food is good but I'm nervous to go back, since, again, no prices listed on the menu.

I ordered the chicken sandwich and I was extremely dissatisfied. It was not worth the price at all. The patty itself was so soggy, but not oily? like if it had been microwaved (I heard one btw). Fries were terrible. Restaurant itself was super cute. I wish they had a little more space. Service was alright. Only giving it 2 stars because the chocolate chip cookies are some of the best I've ever had. I would come here ONLY for the cookies. Other than that, I don't think I would come here again.

This place is awesome! The focus on whole foods and fun flavors totally made my morning. The staff here is just the best with quick service and tons of positivity. Love and Light is the BEST place to start your morning!!!

Chicago has some DOPE, BLACK-OWNED cafes and I'm trying to visit EACH ONE, starting here for a quick breakfast bite. The space is super cozy and inviting and there's plenty of food options, but FYI - There's no beef or pork served in here; turkey products, chicken, fish and veggie items only!!! They also have teas, smoothies, coffees and juices. If you're in the Hyde Park area, go support and make a stop here for breakfast or lunch. Tell 'em Sabrina from Planes and Plates sent you!

This place was okay. I honestly felt like I could've made the turkey bacon at home. Paid $5 for 4 pieces. The French toast wasn't good. I would not recommend it. Paid $9.99 for 2 slices. This place is overpriced.

Black owned cafe in Hyde park with good energy, solid espresso, a wide variety of food, and a super friendly staff. The ambiance is cute and gives "plants & peace". I can tell they were intentional with building out the space. They also have wifi and comfortable chairs (this matters!) 10/10 recommend.

The coffee and cake were amazing but the service was so so. The younger gentleman was much nicer than I think the "regular" cashier. Cute place though nice vibes.

We added egg to one of our sandwiches and it cost us $12 for each sandwich. So basically we had to buy 2 sandwiches to add an egg patty to another sandwich. They also didn't add any expresso to my partners coffee so he had steamed milk instead of a latte. Overall wouldn't go back to someplace that is far to overpriced. $60 for two sandwiches and 2 coffees (we'll really steamed milk) is far too much money for a basic ass panini

Stopped by here for a coffee so can't say much towards the food but the atmosphere is cute and would love people to support this local business! It's a cozy, small café (space for about 8-10 people) and locally owned. Looks like they have lots of exciting food options, including many healthy choices, on the menu!

Stopped here on a whim after a dental appt on the same block. The atmosphere is super chill, decorated beautifully, has space for dining in, and is immaculately clean. The owner could not have been more personable, and literally made one of the best lattes I've ever had (red velvet with oat milk)! Decided to grab a "Basic Love" panini on my way out the door, and devoured it embarrassingly fast. Will definitely be back!

I have been eyeing this place for a while and wanting to check it out. So today I decided to work from here. Well first off it was cold. Second the customer service was okay. And last when I connected to the internet it said no internet so I connected to my personal hot spot. The muffin was good. In the end it was so cold I had to leave after 30 minutes.

A very cool cafe with an amazingly cool barist. Very clean bathrooms. They serve breakfast items, salads and hearty subs and sandwiches, also.

Love & Light Cafe is my favorite coffee shop in Hyde Park! The food is great! I really enjoy the Buffalo chicken sandwich and the cauliflower pizza. It's hard to go wrong with their menu. Everything I've ordered has been very good. And the staff is fabulous! I know I can depend on having friendly conversation every time I go in!

Love & Life Cafe is a cute and very friendly place. The Veggie Me Panini was delicious. My daughter said the Turkey Burger was excellent. Chef Jarvis is outgoing and informative about menu options. The Red Velvet coffee was on point. Love & Light is a great addition to the Hyde Park neighborhood.

The decor was really nice and cozy bjt the food was expen just for it to be frozen processed food! The omelette was definitely microwaved and custo service was terrible and not welcoming at all!

Quick, convenient, classy, amazing! Beautiful chill environment super clean and every staff member has been amazing thus far. Love it love it!!!!!!

great chill atmosphere! lots of fun plants and a cool ivy plant wall :) red velvet frappuccino was delicious as well, recommended by great staff. definitely worth a visit, I know I'll be back to try some food soon
