"The macaroni and cheese offered at Lovebird goes perfectly with its popular fried and grilled chicken. Best of all, the mac and cheese offered at this dining spot is gluten-free and you can find it at all of the restaurant’s locations, including Doylestown and Newtown in Bucks County." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

"Lovebird is the spot to go in Doylestown when you want a full roster of chicken sandwiches — both fried and grilled offerings with a bevy of toppings. The Baja Bird features your choice of chicken, including fried or miso-garlic grilled — a tofu option is available, too — and topped with pico de gallo, queso fresco, Bibb lettuce, and chipotle mayo, served on a brioche bun." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

I was recommended to come and check this little spot. Boy…were they spot on!! My son loves chicken nuggets and he’s now a fan! We’ve ordered onion rings and 2 piece dark meat with bones for to go, French fries, Mac n cheese. My son didn’t like the Mac n cheese because it was a bit “grainy” for him. It’s still delish! Their staff was very nice, friendly and very welcoming!

‘Twas a bit cramped to be honest and very little airflow, so it was hot. They only had one server in the front and a cook in the back. The chicken burgers were very saturated with the sauce and it overwhelmed the flavor balance. The fried chicken had a thick layer of fat under the skin that was not properly cleaned and the popcorn chicken seemed a bit fatty. The fries were over fried… But, the textures and flavors were very pleasant and nostalgic. I’d go back to try more.

This is a great spot. I stopped by for a quick lunch on 10/14. They were super busy and it seemed like an unexpected rush as they may have been a little under staffed. The staff, however, was truly fantastic. They worked so hard to accommodate everyone in a timely manner and compensate for any delayed orders. The staff was patient, kind, and working incredibly hard to get orders out. The Lovebird chicken sandwich is delicious. It has tasty slaw, sauce, pickles, and a great bun. Stop by and support this local place!

My wife found this little gem on one of our outings. And let me tell to you. We have found the winner of any chicken sandwich battle and it’s here. Both fried chicken and grilled chicken sandwiches are amazing. The Love Bird sandwich is a must try!! And building your own has a lot of choices. I actually ate one sandwich then ended getting another on!! The side order of fries is actually enough for two people. We will most definitely be going back.

Google
The food was delicious. We tried the grilled chicken sandwich and the buffalo fried chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. I would recommend the Mac & cheese as well as the popcorn chicken. All was great, service was quick and easy, it was just a little pricey. Overall it's a cute little place to get a yummy meal but just make sure you realize all items are sourced locally so the prices reflects that.

Google
Great food! The salad was topped with grilled chicken. It was a delicious dressing too. Unsweetened tea or sparkling water makes it a very healthy meal. Tofu is also a great option!

Google
This is our frequent choice for treating our office for lunch and also our first choice when one of us forgets lunch : ) Highly recommend their salads. The office favorite is the Brussels to the Beet Salad and also be sure to check out their Seasonal Specials, they are always sure to please. Their breaded chicken is gluten free and all their ingredients maintain a healthy profile. See you soon for lunch!

Google
The food was ok, chicken wasn't really seasoned that much, yes it came with dips and sauces, but the chicken couldn't really stand alone without it. It was cooked great, very juicy but if you order all white meat prepare for a long wait. The dine in area is very cramped and awkward. It's beat to pick up and go sit in the park.

Yelp
Loved this place! No frills interior with limited seating but everyone is very kind, friendly and helpful. They helped us decide what to get and we were not disappointed. I was so pleasantly surprised to learn that all the fried chicken is gluten free! I would never have guessed it was so delicious and well done! We tried the popcorn chicken with dipping sauces and the Ranch Bird sandwich. Both were excellent! The sandwiches had the perfect amount of toppings and the chicks stayed crispy. Ate it all so fast I forgot to take pictures!

Yelp
Pretty great for someone who is gluten free. Of course it is expensive considering that it is fried chicken. Sides are sold separately from entrees. You can easily spend $20-25 per person here.

David N.

Yelp
Ordered the four piece chicken, which is made gluten-free. I had to wait a bit, because my order was made fresh and was still hot 15 minutes later when I got back to my office. It was very tasty, nice size pieces and side sauces where good. Disappointed that a gluten-free chicken does not have a gluten-free roll option . Price was reasonable, and server was very pleasant.

Yelp
The space is quite small so communal tables is the way to go! The table is a bit low and the stools for the window seats are quite high. The drinks are delicious and pretty old-fashioned pop. The servers are kind and honest, helpful with recommendations. And they work quickly. The cook was quick and I found the leg and thigh fried chicken to be juicy but not very flavorful. The skin on the chicken was so fatty, I couldn't eat it but it was crispy. The fries were too over fried, so the taste was a little strange. And our party enjoyed the burgers, but found there to be too much of the mayo with dryer chicken breast hey was grilled and fried. There is street parking and the restrooms are clean, which is always a plus!

Design D.

Yelp
Good sandwich special sauce. Friendly proprietor, sunny. On one of the main streets. .....

Caryn P.

Yelp
Cute little spot with fresh food. The popcorn chicken is a staple and nice size portion. Gotta get the love bird sauce! We also had the love bird sandwich which was delicious. The Brussels to the Beet salad was delicious - quinoa with greens and cooked Brussel sprouts - but what confused me was the lack of beets. Beet is in the title of the salad but there were non to be found. It said shaved but again, none, maybe it was just beet greens but that should be in the description- otherwise it was delicious. I don't know what the dressing is but it was light and citrusy - I will def be back!

Stephen B.

Yelp
The street parking wasn't as filled as I thought it would have been. The restroom was clean and gender neutral. And the space was small but it fit everyone once we all sat down at the window seat or the communal table. The staff were kind and helpful, thankfully, because the menu was quite small. The grilled chicken burger was nice but the sauce was a bit heavy. The fries were VERY overly fried. And my partner had the fried chicken and we both noticed the thick layer of fat under the skin. I would like to try other menu items next time.

Alana H.

Yelp
Tasty food and a fun environment, but very overpriced and burnt. The fried chicken is lovely and crisp with the option of a house made sauce. The brussels sprouts were burnt and too sweet. I will not be returning simply because the prices are outrageous for a fried chicken place. They have a lot of young staff who were efficient, but the man who made the order seemed very unhappy when he came out. The three stars is for the decent tasting food, cleanliness, and presentation of the items in paper products.

Jamie M.

Yelp
Well crafted chicken sandwiches! Took a drive on a Saturday, been wanting to try Lovebird for awhile. First off, the downtown location in Doylestown makes for a great afternoon of shopping-back to the chicken. We opted for fried over the miso marinated, was looking for that crunch and it delivered! My choice was The Lovebird with slaw, Lovebird Special Sauce, pickles, and lettuce. My wife had the Rancher with onion jam, bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce. Our side choices were the house slaw and fries. The slaw was good, but the portion for the price was a little disappointing. The fries portion was huge! Fresh cut well fried a heavily salted. The potatoes more than held up to the aggressive seasoning. Next trip we'll definitely get the popcorn chicken. Huge portions were coming out and I wasn't hearing any complaints!

Yelp Y.

Yelp
Customer service is fabulous! Friendly, accommodating, A+. I ordered the popcorn chicken which was very average, the breading was bland and the chicken pretty tough and stringy. The sauces were nice and made things more palatable. This assessment was confirmed by my partner and his 13-year-old daughter, who said "tastes like chick-fil-a." Cute location and the staff is better than the food, alas!

Kate P.

Yelp
We ordered delivery for a family gathering. The chicken sandwich was quite good. The popcorn chicken was fine. Tasted like if your mom made them at home and the onion rings were almost inedible. The batter coating was so thick and heavy and tasted mostly like flour, we ended up throwing them away.

Yelp
Stopped in after visiting the local museum, figuring you can't go wrong with chicken & fries ! I was greeted with a smile and a hello which as a visitor was much appreciated. The interior is cozy: seating is either one long picnic table or bar seating along the window and since I was the only person there at the time I chose the window. The menu is pretty streamlined: chicken by the piece, sides, salads and sandwiches. You have your choice of sauces you can add as well. All of their drinks are bottled. I decided on the 2 piece dark and fries and the lovebird sauce. It was ready in five minutes. And cost about $14 + tax. The chicken was nicely seasoned the first bite was great! Eating more I realized maybe this had been sitting out and it hadn't retained its juiciness well. The fries felt the same: tasted good but maybe weren't the freshest. The lovebird sauce: their take on a special sauce was a highlight for sure. But the cost of the meal and the actual product left much to be desired. If I am ever in the area I would come back for a sandwich instead... they also had Brussel sprouts which seems rare for a chicken joint but I'd be interested in trying.

Marcela R.

Yelp
The LBLT sandwich was good and overall the chicken is very flavorful and well cooked; the lemonade is fresh. Be prepared to wait.

Tatum W.

Yelp
Service was great ! Sandwich was okay.. a little dry but other wise good! Home fries was well seasoned

Courtney C.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try lovebird pretty much since they opened but only now actually got to stop in! I'll start by saying there is limited seating and this is a much better "takeout" establishment although you can definitely sit inside! They have a limited menu of chicken pieces and sandwiches a few sides and sauces. I tried "the lovebird" sandwich - figured I'd stick with an original for my first time. It was very tasty, could have been hotter and the bread was great but did fall apart. A heads up as well - although their chicken is gluten free if you get a sandwich it is on a regular roll. The slaw and lovebird special sauce was a great accompaniment to the sandwich which was a big juicy piece of meat (honestly a big too thick if you ask me). My friends food took a lot longer to come out but it was piping hot so therefore I'm thinking his was fresher than mine. All in all it was very good and I'll be back. There Brussels sprouts were to die for and honestly I'd go back just for them!

Alisa W.

Yelp
What a cute little spot off the Main Street in Doylestown. Wish I found it sooner. Very simple menu that's not overwhelming. The chicken was yummy. I liked it paired with the sweet chili sauce which comes on the side. The Brussels to the beet bowl was AMAZING! It had shaved beets & Brussel sprouts over spring mix salad with quinoa & a scallion vinaigrette that was delicious. I added grilled miso garlic tofu but you can also add grilled or fried chicken if you like. Very friendly service! I can't wait to go back again and try something new. I already recommended this place to all my friends in the Doylestown area.

Rita B.

Yelp
This was a true treat for a kid who never gets to eat gluten free fried chicken! And then add gluten free onion rings?! The chicken was tender and juicy. The customer service was super friendly. We ate in and enjoyed watching the cyclists race by during the arts and music festival! Really enjoyed the entire experience and will return for this. They also have desserts from the Happy Baker which are also gf and yummy.

Yelp
Great food! The Brussel sprouts and popcorn chicken were very good. My boyfriend had a chicken club sandwich and loved it. Also...make sure to get the local hot honey!

Meghna B.

Yelp
I tried takeout from Lovebird and wow it was delicious! I got the Lovebird Sandwich with a side of crispy brussel sprouts. The sauce on the sandwich was amazing and all the toppings went well together. The piece of chicken on my sandwich was very thick and left me full. The brussel sprouts were good as well although they were not crispy at all. I loved the chicken sandwiches here though and will definitely be back again!

Mayra R.

Yelp
I have always wondered what the food was like here. Walked and drove past it many times. Glad we stopped by today. The chicken is yummy. So tasty. We had the lovebird sandwich and the chicken Caesar salad with gluten free croutons. Everything was wonderful. Will definitely be back and recommend.

Mary D.

Yelp
w We worked with Gil at Lovebirds on a gf menu for a weekend wedding. He was so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for our gf guest. The food was delicious. thank you to allay Lovebirds !

Moike M.

Yelp
Sandwich was delicious, sides are ridiculously sized for anyone who isn't an 80lb woman pretending to not be hungry. That being said, brussel sprouts were amazing. The price point is also on the ridiculous side, $20 for a sandwich and side would be fine if the side was bigger. Not the place if you're looking at sodium

Chris C.

Yelp
Ordered take out, big let down. All natural, Amish raised chicken, gluten free, etc., but kitchen workers carrying two bags of trash through the waiting area, and out the front door on a Saturday evening? Nasty. Ordered a whole chicken that was over cooked, the skin had to be removed. Brussel sprout were torched and even after removing the burnt outer everything, the inside was mush. We thought the fries were sweet potato fries because they were so dark (overcooked). Kids enjoyed the popcorn chicken and side of Mac & cheese. Front desk were pleasant, but when given my name, thought I was Grub Hub Driver. That made me laugh. I'm gonna chalk this one up to a bad night in the kitchen. If it was like this all the time, doors would have shut considering the premium they charge for fried chicken and micro-sized "sides"

John C.

Yelp
We picked this up for takeout. The bone in wings were GIGANTIC, probably the biggest we have had. The popcorn chicken was also delicious. Our favorite sauces were the hot honey and the lovebird sauce. Skip the mac and cheese it's very thin and bland.

Karen F.

Yelp
I very seldom eat fried chicken - or any deep-fried foods, but I was craving it and had an $18 lunch (ouch) today. And here's the irony - no chicken. First of all - you can get any sandwich made with fried or grilled chicken or Tofu - this made me happy - as I love tofu. So I settled on the $12 Fried Green Tomato BLT - I asked - does this come with chicken and was assured it did. It didn't. But it was great - The fried green tomatoes were spot on like a Georgia-Meemaw would make. The mac and cheese is another calorie bomb - but I enjoyed it. Got take out and thankfully did not eat it all in one sitting. I still have yet to try the chicken. Next time - but not for a few months - LOL. My fried food quota has been filled for 2022. Very nice staff.

Bill M.

Yelp
The chicken here is really good. It is a tad bit pricey but you are getting quality products that are all house made.

Dana S.

Yelp
Lovebird is a great selection for those with gluten sensitivity. Everything on the menu is made locally and tastes very fresh. They have a handful of healthier options so the menu pleases a large group. The service can be spotty as the workers are generally high school aged. The owner is wonderful though! I would highly recommend!

Joel C.

Yelp
Awesome sandwich, the lovebird Lettuce and sauce with the slaw were incredible the chicken breast was crispy and tender the popcorn pieces are fabulous I can't wait to get more served fast hot and not to forget to mention all the awesome sauces love bird being my personal favorite for now can't wait to try more

Michaela B.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite take out places! I love being able to eat breaded things that are gluten-free ! They have a gluten free wrap that you can order sandwiches with instead and I have to say the LBLT sandwich with a wrap is fantastic! Highly recommend to anyone but especially my fellow gluten free folks!

Crystal L.

Yelp
This place is Legit! I had the Best Chicken Sandwich!!! I didnt take a picture cause I just started eating it! DELICIOUS!!! But before I get too crazy it was also $14! It was Huge and maybe enough I could split with a kid, I couldn't stop eating it though! SOOOO GOOD!

Kat C.

Yelp
Okay, I gave LB another shot and it was much improved. I tried the seasonal sandwich, which had BBQ sauce and onion rings on it, and it was really good. The breading was crispy, and while I still prefer traditional flour breading, that's not their thing and I respect it. It was good, nonetheless. I got the hand cut fries this time and they were perfect. I also tried a couple of the Brussels sprouts a friend ordered, and they were phenomenal. So, I'm updating my review because their manager is awesome, it's really obvious they care about quality and service, and they really stepped it up for my second visit... I'm assuming the first was just an off day. I'll definitely be returning, and I'm glad they're in my neighborhood.

Devi T.

Yelp
Stopped in for the first time today after hearing rave reviews from Annelisse at Jules Thin Crust. WOW. We ordered the Bone in Fried chicken, fried pickles, and Mac and cheese. AMAZING. I'm celiac and can't remember the last time I was able to have fried chicken. I grew up in the south and am super picky about my fried chicken - this place exceeded my expectations and is now our new favorite spot! My bf tasted it and immediately said "uh oh you're in trouble - this is WAY too good to be gluten free!". Everything was so fresh and tasty. We love you, lovebird!

Jewels P.

Yelp
Shocked at the HORRIBLE customer service we just received. We ordered for a 4:45 pick-up time. We arrived at 4:43 for the pick-up. We were told that they "gave away" our food to other people, and if we didn't want what they had lying around for a different order for us, and if we wanted the food that we ordered, we'd have to wait 20 minutes while they remade our order. This was from the female MANAGER. No apology, no explanation, just bewildering maltreatment. This place was never great, just okay, but we would order from here from time to time. We know the food probably isn't going to be ready on time, or that it will be the correct order with all sauces included, but we're patient people. This mistreatment is unacceptable, and frankly, unbelievable.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Good food and really sweet staff. I like their mac n cheese, great gluten free options and in a cute location too.

Amy E.

Yelp
Sauces were really good. Chicken was a little weird. I had taken a bite and something about the texture was off. I wanted to really love this place but I just don't think this is for me. We ordered the popcorn chicken, fried pickles, chicken sandwich. The popcorn chicken is what didn't seem so good in texture. I might come back to try just a salad or something.

Kristin F.

Yelp
Summary: a small and cozy place for some yummy chicken sandwiches and appetizers. In light of covid, they have online ordering and curbside pickup. Portions are on the smaller side but everything tasted delicious. A little pricey. First time in Doylestown PA and we saw great reviews for Lovebird so we checked it out. We ordered online via their website and went in to pick up at the designated time. In light of covid, all tables and chairs were pushed to one side and tape markers were on the floor indicating appropriate social distancing. We ordered their LBLT, an order of their popcorn chicken, a side of fries, and a side of fried pickles. We traveled about 5 minutes to a local park to picnic. As mentioned before, their portions are on the smaller side. We only ordered one sandwich to share because we thought it may be a lot with the other sides, but we were wrong, haha. The chicken sandwich and popcorn chicken did not disappoint. Lovebird prides themselves on chicken that are fed and raised well and I do have to say that we tasted the difference. As for the fried pickles though, they were a little dry, even with the Chipotle sauce pairing. The fries were okay too. I wonder if the fries and pickles would have tasted better if we dined in? Maybe it doesn't taste as good when it's gotten a little cold? *shoulder shrug* We went on a Sunday so street parking was free. Otherwise, it's metered street parking. Staff was friendly and personable. There's a bathroom for customers.

Lisa A.

Yelp
Love the fried chicken. Gluten free is how I eat now so this place makes it easy to get a really good, but bad for my health, meal. Sometimes you just need to be a little bad.

Sean S.

Yelp
Unimpressed, just got the fried chicken dinner to take home for the family. It's fine, no complaints, but no better than Acme fried chicken.

Gerald S.

Yelp
If fried chicken is one of your favorite comfort foods, then a visit to Lovebird on East Ashland Avenue, Doylestown, PA, is very worthwhile. At least, I know that was why I was there. Brought to us by the folks who created the successful Jules Thin Crust Pizza, Lovebird is the brainchild of that same crew with equal parts great recipe, locally sourced, cage free, vegetarian raised Amish poultry, and simple gray toned shop with one collective table and five sunny bright window stools. As a newbie, I ordered the aptly named "Lovebird Sandwich," which came with a perfectly deep fried battered breast, cole slaw, pickles, lettuce and special sauce mayo, on a freshly baked local bakery brioche roll. It was one of those meals where the enjoyment began with the first bite through the thick layers of crisp crusty bird, through the tender sweet roll. It was as textural as it was flavorful. It was delicious and fun to eat. And, if you prefer roasted chicken over fried, go for it! They have that, too, and although I didn't taste it, it looked awesome. Tasted a few fries, and they were quite good, but I'm trying to be good to myself by some modification of diet, so I passed on getting my own. The Lovebird was so great on its own that I really didn't miss them. Also, begged off the Boylan Soda, one of my past faves. Now for the News Extra! Lovebird is coming to Newtown soon, across Sycamore Street from its sibling, Jules. That is something to get excited about! Not just another knock off franchise, but a true original.

Mary Rose B.

Yelp
the food is amazing the service is great and ambience is amazing and it makes me feel like I love chicken and chicken and I love it so much.

Lindsay W.

Yelp
It's a little weird to find a chicken-only place, but this place was epic! Everything was fresh and crisp. The sauces are all housemade. Just watch out, their signature sauce contains anchovies, so those with fish allergies should steer clear.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
My gf brought me to Lovebirds for lunch. She had the Buffalo Bleu Bird sandwich, side of roasted Brussels and Mac n cheese. She enjoyed the sandwich and Brussels. The Mac n cheese was just alright. She didn't finish it and chucked the rest. I enjoyed the Brussels to the Beet Bowl with fried Chicken. The bowl was a large portion so I ate half. I didn't love the scallion vinaigrette that came with it. So I used Lovebirds signature honey mustard and special sauce which transformed this bowl. Next time I will try the Lonesome chicken as I noticed most of the diners had ordered this off the menu.

Jae L.

Yelp
One comfort food that is a good to for me is fried chicken. I love me some good ol fashion salt and pepper, lightly battered friend chicken and this place has it (I love my Cajun from Popeyes but you know.. need to mix it up at times). My group and i ordered a whole bird since we had a group of 5 share and it made the most sense in terms of pricing. That being said, we had to wait for them to make it fresh and boy, was it worth the wait. Every bite has that nice crispy bite and the insides are done right. Is usually don't like the white meat but they got the chicken breast juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The chicken itself is very good but they have a lot of sauces there as well. They spicy honey is really good and i stuck with that one cause it just adds a little kick but a sweetness that covers your mouth. The sides were ok; fries were well seasoned and lightly fried; the coleslaw in my opinion was nothing special. I think the place is a bit more pricey that your average chain but good to try if you're in the area and if you're a fan of fried chicken!

Toy G.

Yelp
We were up in the Doylestown area and wanted to check out Lovebird from the people who created Jules Pizza. Lunch was in the cards and figured let's stop in for a quick little chicken snack and see what the clucking is all about. We split the sandwich and the 2 piece. The sandwich was just okay nothing that special, not bad either. I certainly don't think it was worth the cost $9. Our 2 piece definitely had a better flavor and I like the breading that they Incorporated on the chicken. It was seasoned nicely. Very tasty but it's certainly out of our way to come back here. I was glad we stopped in, I also would like to compliment how quick the food came out. Also I really like that they have homemade sauces at your disposal right by the utensils which is a nice touch and I did enjoy all the sauces that I tried.

Amy H.

Yelp
Sat down in this quaint place and we had 2 pc chicken, slaw, fries and chicken sandwich. Hot, crispy, delicious. Great for a quick bite

Will L.

Yelp
It's generally not easy to find restaurants that understand and accommodate a gluten allergy, let alone those that specifically cater to it. In particular, it's really difficult to find fried chicken that's gluten-free, so when we came upon this place while in the area with family, we decided we needed to check it out! The fried chicken here is absolutely delicious - perfectly crunchy and juicy, with great sauces for dipping. Forget gluten-free, it's just great fried chicken! My first time, I had the Lovebird chicken sandwich, which was pretty awesome, and we shared some tasty sides, including their brussel sprouts and fries. Our second visit, my wife and I each ordered a two-piece dark chicken, and shared fries and brussel sprouts again. Everything tastes great here! We're super excited that they've opened a new location in Bryn Mawr, near our church, and we're sure to go for a visit in the near future!

Tim S.

Yelp
This second visit brings it up to 4 stars. The Brussel to the beet salad is amazing. The scallion vinaigrette packs such tangy, unique flavor to the salad. I added some Cole slaw to the salad for another flavor component. Spring mix, quinoa, grilled chicken, brussel sprouts and shredded beets. This now my go to salad in Doylestown. Carolyn, Manager comped is a couple of entrees after forgetting one on our last takeout order. Well done.

Reid M.

Yelp
They got that crunch right ! "The Lovebird" chicken sandwich & "Brussels to the Beat" bowl were ON POINT. Fresh ingredients, executed properly. 4/5 atmosphere. Felt kinda weird walking in for the first time and seeing no food (there's no visible kitchen or even a food window), it's in the back. There's only 6 bar stools at the window and one big family style table. Would be nice to see a couple 2 tops, there's def space. Food is seriously bangin!!! I'm just tryna give constructive reviews! I love lovebird

Ian G.

Yelp
I give this restaurant Five stars because their Gluten Free Fried Chicken Sandwich is the best I have ever had. It is even better than their non gluten free one to be honest. Great Bread, Great Brussel Sprouts and very good fries. This is one of our go to takeout places in Doylestown. The location in Newtown is just as good.
