8 Best Seafood Restaurants in Savannah

"Love’s is a capacious seafood restaurant in a beautiful spot overlooking the Ogeechee River, which, on a recent visit, had crept just a bit over its banks after several days of rain. No worries: That’s just more water to reflect the sunset, which you can take in from a roomy outdoor deck or through big windows inside the wood-walled, homey restaurant. You might see an alligator on the river banks, and you’ll definitely see one on the menu—in the form of fried gator tail, served with a creamy peppercorn sauce." - Sam Worley

PHENOMENAL 5 STAR SERVICE from beginning to end. The level of service is always consistent. Becca was our server & she was EXTREMELY attentive to us‼️ I didn't have to ask for anything especially refills or condiments. She gave great referrals for food choices as I've never tried the catfish before and it was soooo seasoned to perfection as she promised. As a former server/manager I can tell good hospitality when I see it and under Kaiser it is evident that the ENTIRE staff front of house & back of house is running like a well oiled machine from pace of service, pace of food, and him personally checking on guests throughout the dining experience. EVERYTHING was hot & fresh and cooked to perfection‼️ The teamwork displayed upon the staff was exemplary. Will definitely be back as always cause on top of that their Oysters Rockefeller is THE BEST in the low country‼️

Finally! I can say I’ve eaten at this Savannah staple. The portions were generous, served hot and timely. The service was personable (Kaden)(sp?) and prompt throughout the meal. Worth the drive for the scallops, shrimp and grits plus onion rings. Yes, the tea is sweet!

Google
While visiting family in Savannah we were looking for a nice seafood restaurant and we found Loves. We were seated quickly and drink orders were taken. Food orders were taken when the drinks were brought out. Our orders came and the table had fried pickles, onion rings, grilled fish, burgers, hush puppies, crab stuffed shrimp as well as my request for pan seared fish in olive oil and steamed broccoli. Food was cooked to order and tasted good. I had no allergic reactions to my meal which I am happy about. Thanks for your attention to details and yes the sunset view was spectacular.

Google
I got the shrimp stuffed with crab, corn on the cob, and steamed broccoli. My husband had the lobster, green beans, and corn on the cob. The food was delicious, filling, and not over seasoned. I can say the spinach dip was great with the homemade chips. Our server Caden was excellent.

Google
Outstanding cuisine! Excellent, friendly service. Beautiful view. My Shrimp and Grits was absolutely wonderful. The gumbo was tops. My wife's Catfish was superlative. We were seated quickly on a Friday at 6:30, right on the water. Great place.

Google
Everything about our evening at Loves was amazing! The food was served hot, fresh, and delicious. The cocktails were fantastic. The views were simply beautiful, and our server, Ashley, was INCREDIBLE! She is an asset to this restaurant and her community. She has a delightful smile and a bubbly personality. Thanks Ashley and Loves Seafood for making our evening one to remember!

Three of us sat for almost 12 minutes before we saw a server. We were there at just after 4 o’clock on a Saturday and there was hardly anyone there. The window seats (the small alley like area), are great, but we froze to death. We finally got a server and waters came later. Cocktails were very good. Onion rings were good. Brought without side plates but they finally came as well so we weren’t double-dipping in the sauce between us all. I’ll never understand ANYONE that brings an appetizer without side plates. 🤷‍♂️ Drinks came. And we ordered food. One upgraded to a salad, which was brought with the cold limp fried catfish (dinner). My stuffed shrimp was fair- tough and chewy and barely warm. The stuffed snapper was cold. We were too hungry to complain. They obviously don’t have food runners so it sat in the window for a while. Baked Potatoes were warm at best. 2 sour creams for 3 of us. Took forever to get more. Just a bad night all around. Server was slow, but friendly and knew how to connect with the table. But, for that time of day, things should have been fresh and HOT.

Google
Our food was wonderful. I had the shrimp stuffed with crab my members of my party having the shrimp & grits both were excellent. Our server Becca - took great care of us. Kept our drinks full and was attentive to our entire party. She kindly and energetically took care of us on the patio so our pup could join. Thanks for the good food and service.

Yelp
Great food here. Salmon blacken was perfect. New to the area. The menu has a variety of selections. The service once again was top notch. I have to give a shout out to the person that made my Carmel Cheesecake dessert. I believe that server said a Miss Pat. I've never had a cheesecake like this. Our Server was awesome for recommending the dessert. Thanks was making our dinner perfect.

Yelp
OMG, we loved this place! We were on our way north to Maine from Florida, looking for a place to stop for Mother's Day. So we Yelped Love's. Of course they were packed on Mother's Day, but we got seats at the bar right away. Our servers at the bar were great, Jersey and Biddeford (as I call her) such friendly and welcoming service, and the food was great. Warning, the portions are ridiculously large. We will make this a stop on our future Snowbird travels!

Yelp
My first time here was for Valentine's Day. The Service was great. The ambiance was very romantic for that specific day. We didn't get the water view due to it being super pack but I was very okay with our seating placement. The drinks were 8/10 more water than slushy. The lobster Alfredo was so good the second time. Unfortunately I did have find a piece of hair in my food the first time but the manager came straight to us to apologize and he also made me aware of what was going on with my order the second time they cooked it. The oyster Rockefeller was probably my favorite out of everything.

Andrew J.

Yelp
I don't know why I keep giving this place another chance. I'm done. Always terrible service. Food is fair at best and portions are inconsistent.

Carol D.

Yelp
Everyone was friendly & professional! Had a 25 min wait and it was worth it. Started with fried pickles- best I've had. I ordered crab legs & hubby had a steak- both were cooked perfectly and delicious! Servers were attentive and friendly! Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Visited for my 2023 birthday. Today visited for Saint Patrick's Day 2024 March 16th. Scored Flounder is always a hit. Lightly Fried Oysters was amazing as well.
google avatar

Lorrie W.

Yelp
The servers were amazing! The restaurant was clean. Decor was ok. The food was good. The shrimp could have been hotter. The red rice was good. The green beans are from a can, not fresh. The salmon was amazing. Great hush puppies!
google avatar

Jessie B.

Yelp
The best shrimp and grits I have ever had. Periodt. I want to drown myself in a bowl of their shrimp and grits. I could eat it for every meal. Amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Was so delighted and surprised by this find! Truly a hidden gem. Nothing fancy smancy, but the food, service and prices were excellent! This may be new new favorite Savannah seafood joint!

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would. Waited 50 mins BEFORE we even received our food. The garden salad came out first with coleslaw side. Odd pairing to start with. Waited 15 more mins before main meal arrived. My blackened mahi-mahi had nice flavor but was over cooked. Couldn't even finish it. The bed of alreadro the mahi-mahi came with was subpar. The fresh Parmesan cheese was the only binding ingredient that slightly made it tolerable but the Alfredo sauce was not creamy, fresh or palletable. Sorry but canned ragu would have been better. My fiancés seafood was heavily breaded, he couldn't finish his crab cake, the coleslaw- we had to add table sugar packets to help but it didn't . KFC was better! Just utterly disappointing and this was our date night so we got dressed up for this and paid $89 for crap we waited for a very long time while other tables received their food before us even after arriving after us! Very upset!

Yelp
Great place for shrimp boil. Outside seating is a pleasant setting. Plenty of good quality fresh eats.

Yelp
Had an amazing dinner at Love's! The waitress we had SarahAnn was funny and made sure we had anything we needed. The food was amazing and we will definitely be coming back again.

Yelp
How fortunate to find this gem while stopping overnight in Savannah. The blackened Mahi over Alfredo, mushrooms and capers was lovely.

Yelp
What a find! 20 min out of Savannah is Loves. On the water. Busy!! We got a table for 6 right away. Short staffed but manager helped in all capacities. Our service was very good and with smiles! Food was great. Hubby had scallops and was large amount and perfect! Drink - lemon berry refresher from bar was divine! Was full all evening as we got to eat and see sunset! We will be back!!!

Yelp
Great location on the river, excellent fried green tomatoes. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but everyone is so friendly
google avatar

Stephen H.

Yelp
Pricy but worth it. Friendly staff. Right on the river. Everything is FRESH I'll gladly pay top dollar for great seafood and this was great. Thanks to the Loves and their team.

Yelp
Discretely located off Hwy 17, along side the Ogeechee River, nestle right up against the Chatham County Wetlands Preserve. For this visit we dined outside, but comfortable inside dining available. Start with spinach artichoke dip & some crispy triangled-shaped chips. Wash it down with your favorite drink from the bar, tap or fountain. Now gorge yourself on stuffed flounder, grilled salmon, ribeye steak, seafood platter, chicken Alfredo, just to name a few; and don't forget your two sides. Friendly service, seafood ambiance. Couple down sides in our visit was long wait for food & long wait on refills. Other than that the food is delicious and the views are beautiful. Enjoy.

Yelp
This place has best oysters Rockefeller in the world! Great low country boil. I went for a 2nd time. Stuck with the low country boil and the oysters Rockefeller. The low country boil was great. Plenty for 2. Omgosh the Oysters Rockefeller. I may have to do this as my main someday. My friend enjoyed the super cold Chardonnay. Waitress was lovely. Perfect amount of attention. I'll be back!

Yelp
Stopped into Love's Seafood on my overnight stay in Savannah. The food and service were excellent. I wished that I had been more hungry as the seafood platters I saw being served looked delicious. I chose the fried green tomato appetizer and it didn't disappoint. Neither did the tart, tasty margarita I had from the drink specials menu. The star of the day was the side order of hush puppies. The best I've ever had and this southern gal has had more than her fare share! Crispy, fluffy and flavorful. I'd return to dine just for them but I don't think I'd miss out on the seafood. The prices are reasonable for the plentiful amounts served. It's not a fancy dining experience but a good old fashioned family feed.

Yelp
Had a very nice dinner. First time having low country boil. The server was great and had a great view of river.

Yelp
Had a wonder lunch at Loves. We went Sunday after church, and they actually have the lunch menu on Sundays. This is my husband's favorite place to have bone in catfish, I love their peal and eat shrimp, and their hush puppies are divine! We had a table right by the window looking out on the river, which was an added bonus. Service was fast and friendly. Love, Loves!

K L.

Yelp
We find our way to Love's anytime we are in the greater Savannah area. Great service, wonderful scenery, and food cooked to perfection every time. Fried oysters are a must!

Yelp
My husband and I never leave negative reviews because we understand how hard it is to run a restaurant. However, this was such a bad food experience, we felt the owner(s) should know in case they simply are not aware. My "Harvest Moon" margarita had no alcohol in it and the flavor was very unpleasant. The syrup around the rim was actually disgusting and salt had been incorporated into the syrup which only added to its poor taste. The gumbo was slimy and had no flavor. It tasted like a total mush of various things. I can only imagine the slimy consistency was from okra that hadn't been properly cleaned (at least I hope so). The fried shrimp were okay and my husband said the mahi was good. My fish wrap was not good. Some of the fries were not completely cooked. My kids didn't even eat them all which is really saying something. The view is amazing and the staff are nice; otherwise, I do not recommend eating or drinking here until some adjustments are made. I'm sorry to be that direct but hopefully it is helpful!

Dianna M.

Yelp
Wow!!!! I found this place while looking for local restaurants in the area while on vacation and I'm so glad we went cause the food was AMAZING!!! My husband got the ribeye and it was truly the best steak we have ever had! The flavor was WOW!! We got the spinach dip for an appetizer and it was amazing! I got the lobster Alfredo and the chunks of lobster were huge! Highly recommend this place!!!! This place has been in business for 75 years and I can see why! Wished we lived local so we could go back! It will be on our list for next time we are in town!! AMAZING!!!!

Yelp
Best meal I've had in several years. Steak was excellent. Wifes grouper was outstanding. Five stars on everything

Yelp
Frist you well love the view of the river. When the weather is good I recommend setting outside. All the food was great, came out in a timely manner , and hot. They was out of a lot of things on the menu, maybe because of a busy weekend. Also parking can be fun. The oysters Rockefeller was amazing.

Amy D.

Yelp
Beautiful setting especially at sunset! Great atmosphere and excellent service. The menu had a lot to choose from and the food was delicious!

Yelp
This is a casual seafood place that is off the beaten path and away from the tourist districts. Make no mistake, this is a locals hangout. It's located on the banks of the Ogeechee river and has beautiful views. In the summer they setup tables outside on the grass, but they also have outdoor tent seating year round (or almost her round). Our Favorites: - The fried shrimp here are my favorite. Super tender and tasty. Pick your two sides and you are good to go! This is what I order 90% of the time. It comes with both a delicious tarter sauce and a cocktail sauce. The tarter sauce is super delicious and has some seasoning such as garlic. - The shrimp and grits are the best in the greater Savannah area! Their menu claims they are second best (LOL). They are slightly spicy, super creamy, and covered in a tasty oil. They have sausage and bacon pieces in mixed in and it's topped with fresh green onion and green peppers. - Key Lime Pie is the real thing. It's white and slightly tart, not a sugar bomb. They drizzle some green something on top to satisfy those that think key lime pie should be green. - Our favorite wine on the menu is the Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. As a wine appreciator, the menu doesn't have much selection of fine wine. This Chardonnay is a good pick from the selection. - On the critical side, Loves is known for being understaffed with their waitstaff. This leads to slow wait service and shutting down sections of seating areas, resulting in long wait times to be seated. It's best to arrive on early side of dinner (5ish) to get seated without a 30-40 min wait.

Yelp
One of our very Best Favorites If you need to host a party or Special Occasion, Loves makes it easy and reasonable

Yelp
I was in Richmond Hill and saw Love's from the road. I brought my family there (turns out they'd already been a few months ago and were trying to find the place again). Gorgeous ambiance! Love the riverside setting, gorgeous lawn, picturesque complete with swings hanging from the trees and pretty lights. Oh, and the food! First time I went there, I enjoyed a cup of gumbo and the oysters rockefeller (massive serving!). Great cocktails. Second time I went was for a group special event. Very gracious and accommodating towards our fairly large crowd. I enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and alligator fingers. The fried pickles were too salty for my particular palate. Nonetheless it was a foodie adventure and fun trying foods I've never tasted before! Will be back again for more fried green tomatoes!

Yelp
The food was delicious, and plentiful! Tyler was amazing in his care for us and the view was enjoyable! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Love's is life, people! I stumbled upon this unassuming local joint after a day at Tybee Island and I'm so glad I did! Turns out some Love's fried shrimp, hush puppies, Savannah Red rice w/ cheese and bacon, and alligator nuggets is everything a growing boy needs! I didn't eat at the restaurant. I took a chance and ordered everything online, and the takeout was quick and easy. The smell from the bag was promising a great meal and the bag was right! OMG was this good! Nothing better well-seasoned food. My shrimp was *perfect*! I didn't even know what Red Rice was, but it was good too! Money well spent on a great meal. I'll definitely be back.

M R.

Yelp
Great food! Service matches food! Great scenery... lake view! Snow country boil is a meal for three days! Our food was delicious! Fried green tomatoes are a must! I highly recommend this restaurant if you are hungry for seafood! April, our waitress, was the best!

Jayme R.

Yelp
Food and service were Excellent! What a lovely restaurant and beautiful grounds and scenery!
google avatar

Corey F.

Yelp
Good food, great service. I would recommend this place and would visit again. I got the fried seafood platter, maybe too big a plate for one but it was delicious. I did find a long brown hair in the crab ball when I was almost finished. The waitress was kind enough to bring a new platter but I was stuffed at that point. I think I'll try the crab legs next time. They looked delicious!
google avatar

Barbara C.

Yelp
Our service was great, the food was good as well! The dynamite shrimp and the crab cake appetizer was delicious! My husband and I both ordered the 16 ounce rib eye steak. I was not personally a fan of the charred steak I received my husband loved his. This was an expensive place but majority of the food was excellent.
google avatar

Ronald W.

Yelp
We have patronized this restaurant for over 15yrs, the food and service are always good. A pit pricey, but everything is now.
google avatar

Marie F.

Yelp
Wonderful food, great service and the views are fabulous! We enjoyed watching the sunset and even enjoyed dessert - it's a "must" when we visit Savannah!
google avatar

Yelp
Not what you would expect from a seafood place on the waterfront. Noting but deep fried
google avatar

Janet C.

Yelp
Out of Prime Rib, Filet, Crab Cakes and Stuffed Flounder on a Sunday evening at 5pm. Worked around that, but one person of our party of 6 received her food and finished eating it before the rest of our food was delivered. Waitress seemed uninterested when we mentioned to her that we were waiting. Once our food did arrive, the waitress asked what was missing, a few sides. She returned with the sides, sat them at the end of the table for others to pass. Food was mediocre at best! Same with the checks; laid them down at one end of the table for the group to rifle through and decide to whom which ticket belonged!! IF, I come back, it will be fir a happy hour drink, no food!
google avatar

Yelp
It seems our favorite seafood places in Savannah are closing down but Loves is still around although not as good as it used to be. The shrimp and scallops (fried) were good but the breading, especially the scallops, was a bit soggy and did not stay on the scallops very well. I understand fried scallops are a difficult cook, it takes just the right amount of cook time to not over cook them. The meat itself was perfect, cooked to perfection, but the breading removed itself. The fries could have been a bit hotter and crisper and the salad, ok. My wifes' shrimp and grits were excellent. Our server and the service was impeccable. I wish I remembered her name to give her a shoutout. Overall it was an OK meal but nothing I would recommend as being great anymore. I know prices have gone up and I have not caught up to the new "cost of everything" but I personally feel Loves prices have exceeded the market for what you get.

Yelp
Establishment is only opened certain days for large groups. Parts of Forrest Gump Movie was filmed on this lovely property. The food is served open styled & very delicious. We arrived on Monday in Savannah GA the restaurant was closed except for bus tour groups. After a wonderful dinner there was lots of room to walk & stretch. The sun setting upon the water was stunning. The food was piping hot, beautiful crispy salad, catfish stew, fried shrimp, green beans, baked potato was very filling.

Yelp
Really should be Zero stars! From the girl trying to seat us, confused. Our server was fine , drinks ordered from Bar. Horrible! Our food took forever to be served and server told us because this plate is really hot, so how long did our food sit under the heat light???? My husband has never done this but he wrote his comments about on the bill! Loves runs should be over close it! Start over !

Franchesca W.

Yelp
Hands down, best seafood and service. My family and I have been going here for years. Never disappointed. I recommend this place to all my clients and their response is always the same, EXCELLENT !!!! Love the outdoor seating as well as indoor

Jen M.

Yelp
Great food, atmosphere, and service. Started off with Oysters Rockefeller. DELICIOUS! Followed by fried oysters.
google avatar

Joseph A.

Yelp
We enjoyed our meal celebrating Father's Day here. It's a little bit pricy for the quality and what you get but the biggest factor we faced was wait time. We were planning on going to shell house but they said it would be 2 hours until we were seated, loves was able to seat us as soon as we arrived. The food was good and the drink service was a little slow. My crab legs were over cooked but the flavor was still good. We will likely be back.
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
We were told about 20 minutes wait. It was "less than one cocktail" wait. We requested seating outside, however, the hostess recommended inside to avoid insects after dark. Good advise. The seafood platter was good fried seafood, tasty and abundant. The locale, being on the river and being older, has character. I would absolutely go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome wait staff, great atmosphere, the food is always great Broiled or fried. Great bar too.
