14 Places to Eat Wonderfully Crusted Bagels in the Bay Area

"With the opening of the Larkspur location of Loveski Deli in late 2023, bagel fans now have two places — including the original Oxbow Public Market outpost — to try Christopher and Martina Kostow’s bagels. Create a custom bagel sandwich with your choice of bagel and spread, such as the yellow chive and fermented onion schmear, or go with one of the bagel sandwiches, such as the pastrami, egg, and cheese option, which comes with harissa mayo, shallots, and dill, plus melty American cheese. (And while you’re at it, true pros know to add on a side order of mini potato latkes.)" - Dianne de Guzman

I want to share this with you—this place is absolutely amazing! I got the Tribute sandwich, a 10-ounce pastrami sandwich, and let me tell you, I haven’t experienced such flavor in a long time. This pastrami sandwich is out of this world—just incredible! I’m extremely satisfied. I also noticed that the quality of ingredients is top-notch, and I even got a little dressing on the side. You can check out the photos—words can’t describe it. My mind, my body, my soul were all blown away. It was so delicious, and I’m so grateful for this place. I’ll definitely be back next time. It’s truly unforgettable, and I recommend everyone to visit and try it. You won’t find anything like this anywhere else. I’ve been to many restaurants in the U.S., but this quality and taste is just impressive. I’m so pleased and in such a good mood—thank you, thank you, thank you!

This place is great. Interesting take on their Reuben sandwich, though, the meat is in chunks rather than slices that you’re used to. But the overall flavor of the sandwich was delicious and will definitely come back. I’m not a big fan of the pickles, I guess they’re homemade but it’s a different flavor than I’m used to so I didn’t eat those.

Loveski’s pastrami, egg, and cheese bagel is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever consumed (I’ve eaten many). Reuben was also exceptional. Kids love the latkes and everyone loves the matzo ball soup.

Never thought that I will find Pelmeni (Dumplings) in such a bagel place. Of course it’s not the same as it was in Ukraine on mom’s kitchen but, it’s pretty meaty and full of taste. Surprised and happy!

Great local spot. Prices are high but that's expected in this area, so I don't mind. Customer service is excellent - especially the manager, she is exceptional. I love that they offer gluten free options!! I'll be here much more often if they start making their latkes GF too :) LOVE having Jewish food nearby. And love that it's locally & family owned. We come here often.

Great bagels! Probably my favorite in the Bay. Perfect crispy crust and fluffy interior, good schmears as well. Really nice retail space w indoor and outdoor seating.

Not bad, but nothing to write home about. A decent selection on the menu of expected deli choices. Very limited beer and wine selection. Ordered a Rueben, turkey and cheese, Green Goddess salad, and the dumplings. After a normal wait time, the order arrived but were then informed they had no dumplings so had to order a replacement which took a short while but would had loved to known sooner so others did not feel compelled to wait for my food to arrive. Regardless, the food was good, and the portions quite adequate. Located in the Marin Country Mart, it is a nice location for kid and dog friendly shopping but the parking is limited.

This place is a complete joke. For example they serve a $22 panini with about $3 worth of actual raw input costs. Marin/ Sausalito/ San Rafael restaurants and shopping are rarely about value and more about overcharging the locals based on property values/ incomes…But this place takes it to another level and should be embarrassed. They find a way to extort you in every possible context while you’re simply attempting to procure a meal. A bagel/ sandwich meal for 2 adults and 3 kids costing $80 is almost so surreal I thought I was taking crazy pills for a hot second…. Then I realized while looking the receipt that the nickel and dimming here is out of control. An extra $5 charge if you request the gluten free bagel!? Why?…. Well cause they know that if you’re trying to eat clean; that’s another opportunity to pad their margins. One and done and never gonna be back.
