"Egg mayo sandwich or ham and cheese? Egg mayo or ham and cheese? Egg mayo or ham and cheese? And on and on it goes, until you eventually just buy a pack of Snack A Jacks, a family-sized bag of Haribo, and a packet of Rennies because we all know that mainlining those Tangfastics is about to cause chaos with your digestive system. Step away from the blinding lights of the Waterloo pharmacy lunch deals and make your way to Lower Marsh Market instead. One of London’s longest running market streets, you’ll find traders serving everything from poké to Italian classics, and a fiver will get you far here. Our personal favourites are the hefty falafel wraps from Falafel Rush, the £6 katsu curry from Daddy’s Japan Soul, and the cute little one-hand-friendly momos from Himalayan Dumpling. At the weekend, you’ll also find charming little stalls selling accessories, flowers, and even old school records." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Yelp
We couldn't have been any luckier with the flat we rented on Lower Marsh. We woke up our first morning to the smell of food from the vendors setting up for the day. The market runs everyday except Sunday. The street is closed to vehicular traffic during the day. There are so many different types of food to try here. There are also several tents with plants, antiques and handmade items. We ate lunch here everyday and tried out several of the food vendors. They have plenty of tables set up to enjoy your meal too. If you're not in the area Waterloo station is just around the corner. You can also check out the Leake St. tunnels while youre here.

Yelp
This is a cute market area with food stalls from lots of different parts of the world! So many different and interesting cuisines. They all looked so good, and I settled on a South American dish with pork and avocado sauce. Delish! Note : There's also lots of bench tables to sit at and a bathroom.

Yelp
Major Life and Yelp Update: TACOS. There is a Mexican stall here selling various things including 3 tacos for £6 - I had 3 different (pork/chicken/meatballs) and OH how I enjoyed them. I ate them all in about 20 seconds. They were so unbelievably flavourful and delicious - the pork especially was excellent. You can put salsa/guacamole on yourself while you chat to the lovely lady running the stall. This was the best lunch I have had in months (and I've had some very good ones!).

Yelp
Does your soul hurt on your lunch break because you drank yourself into a cavernous hole of despair and hopelessness? Let the Japanese stall fix it. They make this little beef on rice and broth concoction that has been known to recoup the dying population from the brink of suicide and carry them by the hand to a land of peace, stability and positive body image. All truth people, have some Jap nosh and ask for extra pickles and broth. Soul will thank you.

Yelp
The market has a few good stalls. Nothing huge in numbers but I knew of Smoking Lotus in reading that had good food and I was not disappointed. Really good southern style food with a good portion of chicken and brisket bun. Will defo be back for that though be nice to see if the market has more going for it in this lovely area.

Yelp
Decided to go out of office for lunch today with a friend, so we popped down to the food stalls on Lower Marsh market. £4 for a Thai curry is a steal; mine was yellow and packed with vegetables, my friend's was green with a nice kick of spice. Finish of with an amazing Blackett and basil cupcake at £2, yummy creamy frosting with really good combination of flavours. Sat in the sun outside, what a good lunch break

Yelp
I am with lisamck on this one. The market can be quite low-key at times and vibrant at other times. I tend to wander down lower marsh every now and again and I always tend to find a good bargain from one of the market traders. The DVD/CD stall is almost always there and there are two fruit and veg stalls there from time to time. Further down Lower Marsh you will find a few stalls selling general items. There are specific days when you can buy food prepared hot then and there depending on the theme. The market is a great addition to the Lower Marsh area and I would be quite sad if they're not going to be there anymore due to all the economic downturns we've been seeing lately!

Yelp
Lower Marsh Market is not one of London's great market places, or the biggest. But this is a sweet little market with the friendliest market traders that I have ever meet. They remember a face and are willing to do great deals for their loyal customers. They have anything from fruit and veg to underwear to cd's and DVDs. I would say if you live anywhere near waterloo then check this little market place out.

Yelp
Loved this place. It seems to have grown since some of the older reviews as there were at least 20 food stalls when I was there during lunchtime on a Tuesday. There is literally something for everyone. I had some outstanding pad thai and I wish I had more days in London to try some other stalls! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great area with lots of food choices. Also a very convenient area for travelers to find flats for rent at reasonable prices and very close to the Waterloo underground.

Yelp
Could not recommend this more highly as an inexpensive lunch spot. Choices abound for all culinary tastes and dietary restrictions. The first time I went here, I had a bite of my friend's chicken wrap and it was to die for. The second time, I got a box of vegan Indian food that was absolutely delicious. I could eat at various places along the market every day.

Yelp
Worth a look but certainly not a destination. A handful of street food vendors (Thai, Korean, Moroccan etc) offering affordable lunch and a few other stalls (green grocer, cake stand). 20 odd in total along the road. A few good permanent coffee shops and bakeries line the street if you're after something more substantial.

Yelp
New review for 2013. Lower Marsh is being redeveloped so expect more to come. Trader are mostly street food but also some (not very nice) jewelry and cosmetics (which you can get cheaper at Boots funnily enough) on other stalls. If you're going for lunch try the falafal stall. Medium £3, Large £4, filled with a few chips, fried aubergine and other nice extras. Keen to see what will happen once the digging is finished.
