Small Cotswolds village within walking distance of Burton on the water. Walk takes about 30min and it is mostly flat. Nice small houses. Please respect residents privacy while you are at the village. One wheels on meals type shop there. Could not see any public toilets. There is a waterwheel in the village. Waterways in the village is private so refrain from getting in. There are signs stating this.

Lower Slaughter is an absolutely charming village in the Cotswolds, and it’s my second favorite in the area. It’s peaceful and serene, offering a quieter atmosphere compared to the more popular Bibury and Castle Combe. The village is incredibly picturesque, with its beautiful stone cottages, winding streets, and tranquil river. I loved walking around and taking in the calm surroundings—it’s a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the Cotswolds. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful escape.

A nice walk around this very small village, with a beautiful church. The mill is now a gift shop, selling leather jackets and bags, as well as cast iron decorations. Some reviews said they sell ice cream but that was not so on the day we visited. The mill is still running and water is flowing.

Didn’t expect this little surprise here in the lower Slaughter village. It is a museum come a gift shop comes a cafe, the combo and even each of it is fantastic. The view from outside and inside both nice. The architecture is still young from its heart. The museum entry fee is £1 per person. The gift shop offers a lot of things to buy, mostly leather products and so on. You may fall in love with jazz in here. Cafe will amuse you with their offerings.

Very beautiful attraction. However, it was closed on a Sunday after 5pm, please go earlier! Beautiful surroundings, sheep around and a small river between houses. Lower Slaughter is highly recommended for a stroll!

Yelp
Alas, the Old Mill Museum (including Cafe and Shop) was closed when Gayle and I were recently in Lower Slaughter. And judging by my look inside, any reopening seems to be a fair bit away. However, the old flower Mill, water power, and surrounding architecture remains intact and as charming as ever. Apparently, it was operating her as back as the late 11th century. For us, it was just a short stroll over for a fascinating peak at part of this Village's History.
