"As you’d expect of a bar, wines lead the way at LOWINE, which is located on the very edge of the city. Inside it has a rustic look and a laid-back feel, and for warmer days there’s an enclosed rear courtyard. The appealing, keenly priced wine list keeps natural options to the fore and changes weekly, providing plenty of interest for the regulars. Similarly, the menu also lists something for everyone, from the traditional to the modern, with an extensive brunch menu offered earlier in the day and the likes of salmon with ponzu sauce followed by entrecôte with herb cream in the evening. Lovely atmosphere, tasty food, friendly staff, and an added bonus — an unexpected outside terrace (accessed through the café), where street sounds are barely audible. It was a nice experience. I’d definitely recommend it. Additional bonus for my dog receiving water without asking, thank you! :)

Lovely atmosphere, fresh place. The food was very good, we had two different potato pancakes, one with salmon and one with poached egg and bacon. For drinks we had lemonades. Definitely recommend for brunch/lunch.

Nice room. Good ambiance / music at a decent volume. Tasty, but small portions of rich food and wines by the glass (4 OZ pour). Definitely quality over quantity. Service was ok; more attention to detail would be good. Thank you!

While traveling through the Baltic Countries we started to notice behaviour and approach of service staff towards clients. In a book called “de Nomade” by Anja Niewierra we read of the homo sovieticus, lion set free but so condtioned by living in cages that trapped outside in a mental cage. The same we feel with service. The approach is so strange. No greetings, no welcoming words, just ignoring the client and even avoid eye contact. Conversation is kept to bare minimum. It will take generations to lose this no service approach. Let’s hope it will come, this kind of good food needs better and friendlier interaction by staff. Coffee was surprisingly old fashioned with a good amount of robusta, so high on bitterness and low in acid ity. Strange strange looking at the winelist and the password for the Wifi : Naturalwine

Came for a little trip to Riga and one of our destinations was Lowine. Basically the nice, comfy place. But the service was the thing, young man was performing on his best and just did miracle. One of the best waiters i have ever seen, looks quite massive and serious, but in fact is one of the most lovely and kind people, sorted all the things very fast, good wine taste and the confidence is a key. Definitely this guy is what the restaurant really needs, thank you for such an experience
