Good first impressions! We went to the opening event and had a good time! The food and drinks were tasty with some cool cocktail options. We had the peach basil sour, the Kentucky Buck and the Pamplemouse drink. The bartenders were friendly and efficient. The bar had a upscale aesthetic and vibe. Definitely worth checking out this new bar in downtown!

This place was really good. Great atmosphere, great staff and good drinks. I got the Roast Beast sandwich and an IPA, my wife got a Classic Smash burger with a Hole in the Cup. Everything was good except the Roast Beast had too much horseradish. It was so pungent that I was starting to get a headache and I couldn't finish it. I didn't bother to ask for a refund or to replace it. Everything else was great though

Google
Phenomenal brewpub bistro in the middle of downtown Sacramento serving up exquisite French dip, sausages, smashburgers, salads, french onion soup, cauliflower bites, and more. The outstanding staff, by the way, serve killer cocktails and too many beers to name!

Google
What a fantastic space. It's large so it's great for large events, but still somehow feels intimate. The bar feels incredibly classy. If you are a whiskey drinker, this place has an incredibly wide selection of cocktails. I got a mescal cocktail and really enjoyed it (also reasonably priced, only $13- so think Shady Lady pricing). I ordered a spicy burger and fries. It was incredibly flavorful and had a decent heat level The fries were very crisp. This place also has a very large beer selection, so if cocktails are not what you are looking for, you will not be disappointed with the dozens of craft beers, non alcoholic beers, CBD beers and ciders on tap. Always feels good finding a new bar downtown. This one certainly is worth a stop after a long day at work.

Cool vibe and interesting menu selections. Peach basil sour was delicious! Beignets were perhaps best I've tasted outside of New Orleans.Well worth checking out!

Went Friday afternoon. I will never be returning. The good: food tasted decent, shishito peppers were good. Bartender was friendly, and lots of taps to choose from. THE BAD: they were understaffed at the bar (not their fault I don't think, they claimed few people got COVID). They weren't terribly busy, there were 3-4 tables occupied and approximately 5 people at the bar when we entered. My friend sat at the bar and ordered a burger, then within a few minutes was ready to order some beer. He got his burger within 3 minutes....it took 40 MINUTES to get his beer order. Bartender checked in with him several times saying she'll be right with him, despite this tended to multiple people multiple times, and engaged in small talk with others. Meanwhile, I ordered shishito peppers, and approximately 2 minutes later had decided on a few beer samples, as well as some more food. Peppers came in about 15 minutes. It took about 20 minutes to order the drinks and main food. Got the beer quickly after that, but the food took another 50 MINUTES. at that point we were done with drinks and needed to leave, there's no way a Cubano and smash burger takes 50 MINUTES to assemble when they weren't even slammed. My wife checked on the order, bartender immediately said "it's still being made" and went to the kitchen to talk to the chef. I told the bartender take them off the tab we need to leave. She did and I signed the bill. Within a few minutes after the food came out. We told the chef don't bother we need to leave and he said quote "oh well it's on the house since it took so long". Fine, we ate a few quick bites, and left. THEY PROCEEDED TO CHARGE ME FULL PRICE FOR ALL THE FOOD!!! I want nothing to do with this place and I urge everyone to stay away from this place as they have shady business practices!

HUGE beer menu and full bar. Great service and delicious food. Will definitely be coming back again

Went into this spot on opening night, the setup is awesome every seat is close to the bar and an extensive beer list and great cocktails.

Yelp
Tried this place with friends twice over the past month and had very different experiences The first time was on a Friday afternoon- The female servers were very attentive. Engaging and friendly. The food was delicious. Ordered poutine tots and the pretzel dog. Tots delicious. Probably best poutine I've had in town. It's a salt bomb but somehow it's still well enough that I wasn't needing to drink so much water. The dog was delicious. Flavorful and complimented by the pretzel bun We got food within 15-20min. The second time we went. It was a male server. And kind of had to walk around the counter to order food. We sat on the opposite counter and he never walked across, mainly stayed on kne side. Food took over 45 min to be served and it wasn't very busy either. Poutine Tots delicious. The corn dog while it tasted fine. It was really sad looking. Could use more batter. I like the food. I'll come again. But would like for service to be more consistent.

Yelp
Came here a few Fridays ago with my boss and coworkers. I got the chicken bowl it was delish and it had a healthy amount of avocado! My co worker friend got the burger and she said it was amazing! We also got fries and loaded tots.. I forgot to get pictures of! The inside is adorable it's a huge bar all around! We all wished we could have had a drink on lunch but it was a work lunch! I want to come back and have a drink and try some more food! 10/10 place downtown on J!!

Yelp
Mixing Ambiance & Whiskey For A Great Time! SITREP Loyal Legion is a great venue, not only to find the brews you like, but just to meet up with friends (or Strangers, for that matter!) to relax, to chill, to imbibe. I first darkened this door back in late September when we pregamed with a group here looking forward to the Oktoberfest that was coming up at Natomas Park. THE SETUP Immaculate polished wood booths, an expansive bar on THREE (3) sides of the very large central bar zone at which the entire establishment rotate around like a bike wheel or concert-in-the-round: you can't lose in finding a comfy spot to nest with good friends. LOCATION This is both a plus and a minus: it's centrally located right in the downtown hood at 12th & J Streets. As you can imagine, parking may be congested depending on the time of day. But there are plenty of parking garages nearby and street metered parking. But if you don't mind a brisk walk, you're just a few blocks up from the State Capitol. Plus there is a Light-Rail station right @ 12th & I Street, just one block up. For that matter, there is a light rail station right @ 11th & K Street, just a couple of blocks down. And major bus lines right along J and L Streets, so the mass transportation angle is pretty much covered. BEER Instead of asking what they have, you might as well come in and see if you can possibly find what they DON'T have. This is virtually like going around the world and coming here for the variety is like an Oktoberfest festival every day. If you're into Pale Ales, they go it. IPAs? You're set! Like Brown Stouts? There THERE there. Pilsners? Oh yeah! Draught. Cans. Bottles. There's something for everyone. Look at their online menu of beers to peruse and you'll see what I mean. THE LOWDOWN C'mon! You KNOW you want that ale! :D

Yelp
Ok here is the thing, the ambience was beautiful, bartender/waiter was more than nice, the food was ok not wow not bad, it was alright. My friend and I got the fried cauliflower which was a bit oily, the Philly cheesesteak was smaller than what I imagined. That being said, it was good, so it depends on how much you are hungry.

David O.

Yelp
Mad decent. Their list of beers is a big strength. For everyone something in there is, from pislners to stouts at prices a tick better than most downtown spots. Yes, they do have a full bar as well. I liked what I've eaten so far. Their pretzel is tasty, just small compared to the tasty monsters available elsewhere. I did like their BLT with thick crunchy bacon on toasted sour dough. The house salad looked really good. Their menu at the restaurant had more appetizers than listed on the website. It's pretty decent bar food. It's also a good looking place with a lot of seating in booths and around the bar. The crew does a good job of checking to make sure you are taken care of when it's crazy busy. I've been here for a pre-Kings game rush (apparently there is an after game rush too). I didn't have to wait long to order food or drink even at the most remote parts of the bar. I'd be down to return. OUT.

Yelp
Joe K and I were invited for a UYE by Carol P. We looked forward to seeing old friends from Yelping days of yore. Joe especially wanted to see everyone because he is not doing well health wise, but he was actually feeling a bit better on this day. When we arrived, this very active sports bar was pretty busy on a hump day Wednesday. Our group used to call our get togethers "Humpy Hour". It was great seeing some of the old group as we drank cocktails and ate some of the food from the specialty menu. I was amazed at the number and varieties of beer offered here. I'm not a beer drinker but enjoyed a drink from the bar (compliments from my good friend Carol P). Everyone had a fun time enjoying each other's company and keeping up on some of the sports teams featured on the flat screen TVs around the bar. Staff members were kept busy, but they were efficient and made sure our party was not neglected. I wouldn't hesitate on returning here again for another gathering with my Yelp friends! Thank you Carol P, for introducing us to a new place for us to hang out!

Yelp
We went this summer, Service was not good, we sat at the bar they kept missing us. Took some flagging them down form the other side. To come to our side. Drinks were decent. Food was delicious Ambiance was nice

Norm L.

Yelp
This bar is located on the corner of 12th/ J Street. When you enter there are menus on the left and you seat yourself and have to order at the bar. The food was tasty - we had the BLT, grilled cheese and fries. They have a full bar so I had the uncle nearest and my wife had a chocolate martini. The martini didn't taste like chocolate and didn't look like one either. I'll give this place a try again but gave it a 3-3.5 because of the customer service. Didn't feel the service was what it needs to be overall but maybe it was just an off day.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday night and it's the perfect place to have a drink while catching up on work. Offers free & stable wife as well as some delicious drinks. Drinks: Lavender Heights (cocktail)- Lavender-infused Vodka, Lemon, Blueberry, Honey $12 23 Gold Vibe/Dragon Theory- Hard Kombucha w/ Dragonfruit, Mango, and Hawthorn Berry $7 Absolutely love the fruity flavours of the kombucha, 100/10 would order again. The Lavender Heights had a very strong lavender flavour which I LOVED but it was on the sweeter side for me, overall I enjoyed both drinks very much, tl;dr: Coffee-shop vibe and make it a bar

Yelp
This bustling new spot in Downtown Sacramento really brings the ambiance. The entire place surrounds a center bar with a LARGE selection of draft beers; and if beer isn't your thing , there is a full bar! My friend really enjoyed her sweet signature drink there, but I enjoyed the strong Old Fashioned, and the selection of beers they offered. In addition to their beverages, Loyal Legion Offered food. We tried the bone marrow tots and mushroom calamari. The mushroom calamari has got to be my favorite ! It might sound cringey but I'm telling you, it's the best appetizer on the menu. I'm not a fan of tots, but a lot of people really liked them! Although I was expecting a huge bone marrow for no reason at all, ( since it did not indicate that on the menu, but in my mind that's what I thought) the dish still had a lot of flavor. It's a very dangerous thing that this place is located near my job! It's a must go!

Yelp
Cool new spot on 12th & J St. that opened about a month ago. I like the sleek look inside with the perfect ambiant dim lighting. Ample self seating and you order both food and drinks at the bar. Staff was attentive, welcoming, and friendly. I ordered a Peach Basil Sour cocktail which was great! I like drinks on the sweeter side and the peach ring was a nice touch. $5 side of fries was just regular. Mushroom Calamari was surprisingly really tasty! I recommend. Parking was tough on a Friday night. I ended up finding metered street parking that was about $5 for 2.5hrs. The area felt kind of sketch and is not really well lit.

Yelp
!!! HOT & NEW ALERT !!! Loyal Legion opened its doors last FriYAY! I stumbled upon it after seeing it on SacFood&Booze's IG story. Thanks friend! Anyway, without a doubt I had to stop by and made it a quick last minute GNO with friends. So the only thing that sucks is the parking situation. Loyal Legion is nestled between I & J St. on 12th St. w/ no direct parking on 12th. The neighborhood is also not the best and if you're a female leaving alone Loyal Legion around 9:30p it's very very sketchy and not well lit so leave in a group. Other than that, once inside Loyal Legion it's super intimate, vibey and a bit romantic. The dark wood accents and library vibez make this spot also mysterious. They have big screen TVs playing sports so that's cool. They serve up beers on tap, specialty drinks with a full bar and wine. The food menu is pretty cool which included funky appe's, hearty salads, juicy burgers and fancy desserts. I would highly recommend this hot & new spot.

Dan G.

Yelp
Food was great. My beer was cold, fresh and on tap. Temp was just right with not so much foam. Staff was great. The food is legit. Super tasty. Bone Marrow infused tots with chimichurri?? So good! Shishito peppers were BOMB! The best in Sac that's for sure. The Classic Smash burger add bacon is where it's at. Meat was super pressed, smashed and seasoned perfectly. You need to try this. Nice, new establishment. The only comment is that they need to put a sign on the outside saying Loyal Legion. It's hard to find this place unless you know about it. It can be easily missed from the street.

Yelp
When I heard beer hall I immediately thought of University of Beer but I was very pleasantly surprised it was not! This is the grown and mature version with a much better craft beer selection and amazing crafted cocktails. Parking is a bit of a pain, but welcome to Downtown. The inside is dark, lots of seating and beautifully decorated. Perfect for a date night or a meet up with friends. When you walk in you grab a beer menu and a food menu and seat yourself, you order everything yourself from the bar. We came around 8pm so we weren't very hungry and just got some tots and a pretzel, both of which were average and came out in a decent amount of time. What really made this place jump to a 5 star status is their beer selection. Lots of craft beers! And I was so excited to see they have Movement Brewery's Whip Wrangler on tap, I've been craving this beer since November and it's no longer at Movements own brewery. The recommendation from the bartender for a beer for my husband who is not a craft beer fan was on point as he ended up having 3 of them by nights end, which is rare. I honestly don't see how this place isn't packed to the brim, but we will happily be regulars from now on.

Sunny L.

Yelp
This is such a great place to hang out with a group of friends. Coming in here for the first time you'll notice awesome ambience and people. This place can hold so much people at once so this place is great for groups. The beer selection is super awesome and has so much to offer. If you don't like beer, they also have some spirits to choose from as well as a wine. The food selection is cool yet I did not try Anything. Recommended, come here with a group of friends. Pros: beer, staff, selection, location , prices Cons: parking Stars: 4.75

Brian S.

Yelp
The drinks are pretty good. Good vibes. And good food. The burger was amazing. Good tequila selection. Spacious. Good customer service. Good for happy hour as well as work meetings/events. Street parking. They have tvs so you might be able to catch the games.

Ashwin A.

Yelp
[Call-outs]: laid back ambience, great for groups, specialty cocktails, friendly and motivated staff, looks super cool Loyal Legion is one of those places I'd seen "opening soon" for some time so I was happy to see them open and doing well on a Friday night. The dark, mood lighting matches the aesthetic, black decor so that it somehow feels like a homely sports bar but for a grown up Wednesday Addams. When I mentioned an espresso martini, the bartenders were eager to show off their house-made coffee liquer. But they ran out. Oops. So instead of use a pre-made one, the bartender ran over next door to a coffee shop for espresso and hand made it there on the spot. And to top it off, it was delicious. Who knew vodka paired so well with coffee?

Jeff L.

Yelp
The handful of times I've been to Loyal Legion it's been a decent experience. It's usually busy there so the service is good. I wouldn't say exceptional. Sometimes the wait time is longer than I would like but during busy times it's to be expected. The ambiance and decor is spot on which make for a great place to gather and bring a decent size group. I've only had the food once at Loyal Legion and it was the Loco Moco. I was really disappointed. It's a comfort food so it should have a good amount of gravy over the rice. The ratio was off. They gave me a side of sriracha which doesn't make sense to me since I like a traditional Loco Moco. I'm used to it being served on a plate so I could see the rice soaking up the gravy but Loyal Legion serves it up in a bowl. My friend swears by the burger so next time I go I'll pass on the Loco Moco.

Monique H.

Yelp
I will say for a business open for their second day. This was probably the best flowing ran business that I've been to. So their ADA access wasn't open but they did send a manager around to open it up so that we can come in. Everybody was friendly from the beginning to the person that was outside that directed us on how to get in to the person that met us and medicine. We were met and graded inside given menus seated we sat at the bar. The bartender was super attentive and on top of ordering our drinks and our food if we wanted food at that time. So we tried a couple of the cocktails that were on the menu there and they were all delicious. Couldn't say that there was one that was worse than the other. We ordered some food off the menu so I got the basic burger and he got the roast beef sandwich and added a jalapeno on the top and everything was super tasty. Flavor was good. Presentation was decent. Everything there, considering they'd only been open for a little over 24 hours was amazing. We never could sit there with an empty drink because they were super attentive and checking to make sure that all the cups were full and everything was perfect for the second night opening. I would definitely recommend this place. Unfortunately I didn't try any of the beers tonight but they had all the taps ready to go

Christine N.

Yelp
Great place! It is a UK pub/bar ambiance. The place is spacious and they serve more than beer here. They also serve some great cocktails You order at the bar and get a number. There is a great selection of food. The burger is bomb and I really like the fries. I also enjoyed the fried "calamari " mushrooms. Overall great experience.

Kerensa U.

Yelp
Tufted blue leather accents, dramatic dark wooden booths and a shiny metal line of beer taps drew my attention when I checked out the grand opening on July 8 with its welcoming crew of staff to a packed house. Complimentary swag from assorted breweries including opening week featured brewery Knee Deep plus $6 beers helped kick off the celebration, which I checked out before heading to Concerts in the Park. I ordered Knee Deep's Raspberry Mocha Cream Stout, which I had actually been looking at at a store earlier in the day. A 12 oz. pour was $6 and totally worth it with a nice buzz from the 6% ABV. The cheeseburger was delicious and at a great price point I thought ($9!). I returned the next day and tried a porter from Heretic, and the same inviting, friendly atmosphere from the night before was evident with the occasional check-ins from bartenders when I sat down to when my glass was empty. They have a curiousity-piquing craft cocktail menu plus a full bar to add to its multi-tasking appeal. A worthy stop for those looking to try a wide arrange of beer. Cheers!

Paul C.

Yelp
The beer selection was good but the food was horrible. Ordered a BLT as a safe choice. Boy was I wrong. 1) The bread was completely burned. 2) The tomato was a smashed slice may be a 16th of an inch thick, during the height of tomato season in Sacramento. 3) The lettuce was wilted, no crunch. I've worked in restaurants, and this was a failure in the kitchen and by the servers. That plate of food should've been tossed in the trash and new one cooked. I might not be so unhappy if they came back to the table and asked how it was, but as the reviews say the service is not good here. They have silly brass plaques screwed into the center of each table about how there is no service and that you have to go to the bar. Poorly run and organized restaurant. Staff definitely has not been trained, if there was a manager on the floor that person was not doing their job.

O M G.

Yelp
Sadly informed via Bridget W. that a vegan notated option on the menu was not completely vegan: The Improbable Burger (the bun). When a menu has icons to depict items of dietary restrictions, I've always thought it was great because it takes all the guesswork out of making your choice and you or I, at least, trust it to be true because it's not the same as asking your server who may or may not know what things are.. for example, asking about vegan options and the server pointing to the vegetarian options. These menu icons are printed and so everyone that views it will know there is a confirmation of what item falls into what category. I hope Loyal Legion finds a vegan bun or remove the vegan icon from this item as well as make sure each item is what they're marked as. This is unfortunate and disappointing.

Justin S.

Yelp
Came here with friends on a Saturday night around 9pm. For the second day of grand opening it wasn't too busy. When I first walked in I was aw of how nice this place is. I love the ambiance and how their spirits are on display of the shelves. In addition I love their selections of beers. One of my favorite breweries knee deep brewery is their opened weekend featured brewery. I tried the knee deep Raspberry Mocha Cream, which tasted amazing. I also tried the peach basil cocktail which tasted good too. I also got a spicy burger and loaded fries. The burger is a classic burger. Tasted good nothing fancy but delicious and the fries are good too. I'll be back, and this is definitely a hidden gem for now.. better come visit before this place gets pack!

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Came for the grand opening and it did not disappoint! We walked right in and placed our order pretty quickly. We were lucky to grab the last available booth because 15min after opening and the place was already packed! I ordered #34 Knee Deep Hibiscus Blonde (light, tart, not sweet) and my husband got the #20 Henhouse Illuminati IPA (classic IPA). The website mentions plenty of vegan and vegetarian options (yay!) so first up was the cauliflower bites. The batter had a really nice buttery crisp but could use more seasoning. Paired well with ranch, but what doesn't haha. Other sauce options were cheese or gravy. Next up, the grilled cheese. Not as fancy as others that I've tried in town but it definitely hit the spot. Really good sourdough. I'd recommend adding in one of their three options: prosciutto, jam, or mustard. The sandwich is a la carte so my husband went back to add on the poutine fries. They ended up bringing us the poutine tots by accident but they looked good so we kept them. Not something I typically would've ordered but am glad we did! Would definitely order those again. Overall nice to see new places opening up downtown. This one's got a cool vibe and highly worth checking out!

Mary M.

Yelp
Beautiful inside, friendly people but poor service. We had to keep coming up to the bar to ask for things. Food was decent, can't say there was anything I would want again though. I would say this is definitely a spot to come just for beer and hang out with friends.

Morgan L.

Yelp
I've lived in Sacramento for two years and this place never once popped up on Yelp for me. Disappointed I've missed out for so long. Great atmosphere and great food. If you need to watch a sports game AND find a place where your girl will be happy too, this is it. Dark ambiance, pretty interior design, and TVs around the place.

Jill M.

Yelp
Here's the lowdown on Loyal Legion. Great beer selection and clean lines so it tastes fresh. Outstanding whiskey selection as well. High quality meats including brats from V. Miller. We had a lovely time but, had to wait quite a long time for order to be taken and for the food to arrive so I would give Loyal 4 stars but it was not busy at all and we still waited. I still like this place and will go back. But, I hope the service is better.

Mike R.

Yelp
Came to this location at the recommendation of a friend. Was surprised by how spacious it was (it doesn't appear so at first glance). Bartenders were polite and menus were available in an area for anyone to grab. You order at the bar and then locate a table/ space to sit at. Very cute for a date or social setting. Drink options, particularly the beers, were pretty expansive, and cocktails were very well made. Very pub like atmosphere.

Nicholas A.

Yelp
A great new addition to the Sacramento craft beer and cocktail scene. Loyal Legion boasts a large range (and still growing) of liquors, as well as 99 taps - with a wide range of beer styles, as well as ciders/kombucha and wine. And unlike so many bars there is food - and not guest food trucks - no, an actual on-site kitchen. The interior has beautiful colors and textures; a sexy ambiance, which is a refreshing departure from the typical watering hole you'll find in town. Yes, there are massive TVs to show whatever event/sport that cannot be missed, but they are not needed. Parking is your typical downtown situation, but they are located right near a light rail stop, in case you don't have a designated driver.

Tiffiny F.

Yelp
I expected more picnic tables when I heard beer hall but it's more like bar seating- quite comfortable. We had food from the special St Patrick's Day menu and wow! Best shepherd pie I've had in a long while. The bangers from vmiller meats were, well, bangin'. Stellar mash with gravy and delicious whiskey sour. Slainte! Friendly service as well.

Steve B.

Yelp
I liked this place a lot but I'm a beer guy so... my wife had a really good cocktail and the food we had was awesome, for being elevated bar food essentially. A lot of fried stuff but it was all done right, crispy not greasy. The corn dog had a little different taste to it, I couldn't place it, but was a spice in the hot dog itself which comes from a great local butcher so it's not a traditional store bought tasting frank. The music was a little loud for me for the time of day we were there but take that with a grain of salt as I'm also an old beer guy. I will be going back though for sure, so many more beers to try.

Julian P.

Yelp
Loyal Legion was amazing! Came to check out Loyal Legion since my lady and I love to drink beer! We both order flights to try out some options and loved them. We also orders food and let me tell you it was delicious! The "Big South" burger was on point and full of flavor! Will definitely be coming back real soon! Great job!

Ken C.

Yelp
they should take down their site or put up that they are closed. had to pay for parking to read a note on the door.

Brian W.

Yelp
This place was awesome but it has closed its doors as of September 19. We just walked there for lunch and saw the sign.

Lisette T.

Yelp
First of all, really dope people are working here- Brandon! Tyler! Bryce! very cool blonde chick in a raspberry pink shirt from Sun 10/9 who's name escapes me!. First visit about 5 days ago- left impressed after my carnivore buddy & I tried amazing smash burgers and the mushroom calamari, which HOLY FUCK it's good. Even for non vegans who will annihilate a squid, y'all gotta try it. Burgers were also great, although I could've used a little less salt on the tots I ordered to make it a meal. The bartenders are friendly, and seem to enjoy being here, which is a big deal. ... it's now 5 days later & their menu has changed a little to throw in a few seasonal yums- just ordered the new spicy mushroom bowl, and YOOOOOOO. This thing is amazing!! I don't even miss the meat and again- not vegan, just plant based where I can. The booze: yes on the peach basil sour, YES x2 on the The 9 Levels of Power by Narrative Fermentations on tap, and yes!!! to reasonable prices despite what I'm certain is downtown Sacramento rent higher than a giraffe's pussy. $6 pours?! $3 generous 'tasters'? Oh, bring it on. So glad I live walking distance from this dope new spot! Thank you for welcoming me in, and to the tall, thin dude in the LL tshirt who I just met mid mushroom bowl bite, who i would bet money is the owner cuz of the pride he seemed to have for the joint- hey, thank you for the warm welcome dude- I should've got your dang name- let's both beat #TheCWord disease & I'll come back & celebrate with you!

Alania C.

Yelp
I've had this place saved for a while and finally decided to pop by on a Friday evening. It's on an odd street downtown (no street parking), but there is a parking garage in the rear which is the next couple of streets over. Walked into the establishment, not greeted by anyone and pretty much walking around loss. Upon passing a table there's a sign "order at the bar" we walk up to the bar, no greeting. A few employees walked right past us a few times without a word being said, strike 1. We're browsing the menu and then finally a bartender comes over (he was one of the few that passed by) my boyfriend asks for a sampler of a few beers. Now I think there had to be some confusion on sampler vs flight servings. This guy literally gave a swig in each cup (like a double shot glass sized cup but wider) we later found out he should have filled the cups. So we paid for 4 sips of beer, strike 2. We ordered food, BLT, chicken club and bone spuds n harmony fries. Food was pretty good, but the bone spuds were the star of the show! That marrow butter and Chimichurri was so delicious! Blt was iiiiight, nothing to write home about. Bf loved his club. The bartender definitely needs to be educated about his pours, the rest of the service was far few in between. We got our food and never received service after that. Seems like majority of the biz is at the bar. Also, they put a $25 hold on ur card. Glad I can scratch this place off my list!

Yelp
I like the atmosphere and the large bar. The menu is limited. Burgers and a few "bowls". Service was marginal in speed and accuracy at the bar. I watched them (mis)make drinks for other people, had to beg for water, another drink and my bill. Great beer list though.

Yelp
Great service, awesome design and decor inside. Prices were great $7 for 16oz microbrewery beers which is best deal in town. Definitely going back here.

Yelp
Tried this place out with a few friends. This is a GREAT atmosphere. Very spacious and can easily accommodate larger parties of 6. It also provides an intimate space for 2. The prices were extremely reasonable--I believe our pints of beer were $4 and the cocktails were all $10. The espresso martinis were excellent! We ordered the pretzel and it had mixed reviews amongst my group, however, the loaded tots were GIANT and delicious!

Yelp
Awesome new beer place in Downtown Sac! Huge Beer selection, and a great friendly staff. Great ambiance with a speakeasy kind of feel. Very reasonably priced. Large TV's for sports. Highly recommend! Amazing Beer Selection!

Yelp
Awesome spot with friendly staff, a superb selection of beers (Russian River, Anderson Valley, King Cong, Jack Rabbit, At Ease, etc.), wide screen tvs, and the most amazing Poutine Tots. The cheese curds were the best that I have had in a long time. The Cauliflower were nice and crunchy, but the Poutine Tots definitely took the cake.

Yelp
Great beer selection, good cocktails, but hit and miss food. Visited recently about a week after opening. The location and parking are not the greatest. 12th is a one-way with no street parking and the area is a little seedy. The atmosphere however was fantastic and once inside felt very welcoming and open. The bar is huge, seating is plentiful, and I bet it would be a great place for meetups with friends, but also date night. They have a huge beer selection and the cocktail we ordered (Mezcalita) was well balanced and very tasty. But the star of the show was the mushroom calamari with vegan tartar sauce! Great mushrooms, good fry, and equally good dipping sauce. What more could you want? This is a must try if you visit. We also ordered the loco moco, cubano, and a side of tots. The loco moco was small for the price, the rice tasted a little stale, and the gravy was lacking. The cubano looked delicious and had some good chunks of pork but was over salted which really killed it. We weren't sure if it was the mustard or just the way it was seasoned, but it's unfortunate because before the salt kicked your taste buds it was pretty dang good. The tots... were tots. Nothing special. We were expecting some fancy seasoning or in-house dipping sauce, but pretty standard fare. Would pass if you're expecting something that would match the atmosphere. All in all, would return. I would probably try a burger next time and definitely order the mushroom calamari again. Go here for the atmosphere, with friends, or for the calamari. Also, don't keep valuables in your car :)

Yelp
Super Smash burger was amazing. They make their whiskey sour with egg white, something you don't see too often any more. Perfectly crafted cocktail. Great vibe. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Lots of beer choices and spirits. Good food. Friendly staff. Menus at the entrance. Order at the bar then grab a seat or hang at the bar. Beer Hall sign marks the spot.

Yelp
Last weekend my dad told me about a new beer hall that had just opened up with 99 Northern California beers on tap. Last night I got around to checking it out and I think it's going to be one of my new haunts. There's a parking lot off 12th and I that's only $5 on evenings and weekend. You head south on 12th and Loyal Legion will be on your left. The signage isn't very big, just look out for a door surrounded by large windows looking in at patrons in their booths. I took a seat at the bar and was greeted by a friendly bartender. She handed us the menus and we ordered a few beers and some food. I was happy to see the abundance of vegan options and I had to try them all. The Improbable Burger was crazy good. Easily the best vegan burger I've had, and I've eaten vegan burgers all up and down California. The tots were hot and crispy. They weren't some soggy cafeteria tots, they tasted like they came out of a kitchen using fresh oil. The mushroom calamari had perfectly light breading. The vegan tartar sauce was better than any real tartar sauce I've ever had. There was some fresh dill chopped in with it. Possibly the most impressive though was the pickled veggies. We had an opportunity to speak with the man that pickles them and he was humble enough to share some of his secrets, but I'm tight-lipped enough to not repeat them. The beers menu was perfectly diverse. It's loaded with a great balance of drinks for all pallets. We tried a cherry limeade sour, a pear cider, a blue berry mint cider, the P.U.B.S. Belgian, the Prague at Night, and the Big Sexy Oatmeal cookie. As someone who doesn't often enjoy sours and ciders I took a risk here that paid off big time. After paying our tab and tipping the bartender and the kitchen someone came up to me. I think he was a manager, a big guy with a beard. He shook my hand, asked my name, and even offered to buy me a beer. I told him I'd take him up on it next time I come, because I'll definitely be back. Killer food. Killer drinks. Killer people. The staff is top notch. I can't stress enough how lucky we are to have a place like this in Sacramento. 5/5
