The 18 Best Restaurants in Helsinki - Eater

"Finns are obsessed with sauna, and visitors would be remiss to not take advantage of this beloved local tradition. Enjoy a relaxing visit to the public sauna Löyly, where you can wander down and take a dip in the Baltic Sea if things get too hot. After a good, long sweat, Finns fuel up with a warm, creamy bowl of Jasper’s salmon soup. Made with cold-smoked salmon, this is Finnish comfort food at its best. Who’s Jasper? In addition to being one of the guys behind Löyly, he’s also a Finnish actor who plays the sword-swinging Halfdan the Black on the History Channel show Vikings. [$-$$]" - Ilkka Sirén

Had an amazing sauna experience there. It’s a bit small but cozy. Quite clean as well. Loved the overall experience. Remember to bring slippers as well as your own swimsuit! We had dinner post the sauna and food was great too. Had a nice cheese burger. Highly recommended. Remember to book before going as it can get quite packed.

Loved! Loved ! Loved this place! Perhaps the place I liked the most in Helsinki! We went for lunch, had the best salmon soup ever!!!! We came back the next day to get more of this soup! ( expensive but worth it) We enjoyed the terrace , whole atmosphere and watching brave Fins jumping in the cold sea!🤣

Their sauna experience is a must try especially because you can bathe in the freezing seawater after it(at least in the winter)!! Well connected by public transport, booking and paying online through their website is super easy.. it's €20 for two hours that include locker, towel, shampoo and body wash.. TIP: bring your own flip flops and don't go earlier than the allocated time otherwise you have to wait and the area is very tiny, unless you want to try the restaurant first. As soon as you enter you go left and that is where you have to leave your coat and shoes inside the big wardrobe, then they'll give you towel and keys and you're ready to go! Separate changing rooms for men and women but then you're mixed together so you have to wear a swimsuit or bikini.. sauna is big and dark so its really relaxing if it wasn't for people chatting all the time.. but still great experience.. there's a relaxing seating area with fireplace where you can stay and chill and order some drinks too.. there's free tap water too.. for women they provide hairdryer too in the changing room.. 100% reccommend!!

Great food and sauna experience. Three different saunas: smoked, electrical outdoor and regular wood fired indoor. Showers with shampoo available. You can get a drink and take inside sauna. You can also get into the water.

Lovely place, astonishing architecture, relaxed atmosphere and tasty menu. Especially I love their cocktails made of Finnish ingredients. During summer time there are dj:s playing music in the terrace and the place is really popular then. There is also really good sauna there - you can go to swim in the Baltic Sea year around, even in the winter.

This place is definitely out of the way if you do not drive. Came here via train and had to take a short walk in the cold dark winter. The place was fairly packed and it was free seating style and we fortunately could get a place near the fire pit. Ordered 3 dishes to share - burger, pork dish and salmon soup which was apparently highly raved. It was our first time having salmon soup so we were very pleased with it. Creamy seafood broth with salmon and potato chunks, hard to go wrong imo. Burger was also done well and chips were on point. Pork dish was a miss, the pork itself was already but the base which was supposedly butternut squash was very hard and we could not finish it. Had a short walk outdoors and saw people entering into the sea via the staircase after coming out of the sauna. Definitely a place which have some nice views if you come in the day, although during winter it is something you don’t have much of.

Had a really lovely afternoon at the Löly Sauna. Came away feeling very relaxed and would highly recommend a visit if you're in Helsinki. Stayed for a drink afterwards in the bar which was equally nice!

Much smaller than I expected, comparing to the other Spa, Sauna centers I have been. Very beautiful building with great view despite the weather was very bad when I was there. Crowded changing room and sauna rooms (only two), but right beside the sea giving this Finnish style sauna an extra experience. Sauna drinks are very expensive. 9.5 euro for a bottle of house beer, it tastes good though.

Yelp
One of the must do things in Helsinki! Go to a sauna! The Fins do this really well and it's nothing like what you experience in the US, so I was excited to try it here. Located right in the Baltic Sea, löyly, was the perfect place for the beginners, they have 4 different saunas, one traditional wood smoked, one right on the water so you look out at the sea, the other two inside, one is a private one you can book, but was open to public the day I went. I chose the two hour option, you get a towel, seat cover and key to a locker included, unlimited use of the saunas, and the showers after. They have a water station, a bar area to buy drinks which are allowed in the sauna areas. I had a nice glass of bubbly. There are also nice areas around the sauna to sit and relax and take it all in. Also outside they have lots of seats. I loved the one out by the water, great view, it was a rainy day when I went but it didn't take away from the experience. The other option is to go right into the sea after coming out of the saunas, some plunged right in others took the stairs, I was a little apprehensive at first as it was cool out and I knew the water would be freezing , but eventually I decided to give it a shot, surprisingly not to bad coming straight out of the hot saunas. It's actually quite refreshing for a little bit then yes it's cold! I suggest not skipping this part. The two hours goes by quickly , but I feel I got the most out of it. It was relaxing and your skin feels amazing after. The locker rooms can be tight if busy and a lot of people are in there, but it's all clean and they provide hairdryers and it's well organized. I suggest not taking your phone in, I took my pictures after and before I had changed. I loved you could come out if the saunas and sit and watch the water from many seating areas. A nice chill time. They also have a restaurant attached , I didn't try it but looked nice, with great views of the water, Bathing suits are required! And they have male and Female changing rooms, after that it's mixed genders everywhere. This was a unique way to Spend a Sunday morning, loved every minute.

Yelp
We had a really fun experience here! It's very touristy but worth checking out. The two hour sauna time goes by fast but it's the perfect amount of time. The outdoor sauna was nice but it gets so crowded. The indoor sauna is more spacious. Also highly recommend the ocean plunge. The restaurant food was decent. I tried the well known salmon soup which was good but could've come out hotter. My friend had the burger and she said it was cold. The views of the ocean was super beautiful. Highly recommend visiting this place when visiting Helsinki.

Yelp
Löyly (sounds like loo-el) was such a breath of fresh air as it's a cafe/bar/Finnish sauna with amazing architectural design and a stunning view of the bay. The food was typical bar food with Scandic influence and a nice cocktail list. But the main draw is the Sauna. Book your sauna time in advance because they tend to fill up and if you're in the area and happen to feel like a sauna they offer suits to rent if you can get a sauna time slot .

Yelp
Overall I really enjoyed my time at Löyly. The facilities are beautiful, right next to the sea. There are four saunas total (one is for private reservations but was open the day we went), including a traditional smoke sauna and a sauna with a view of the water. Speaking of water, you can also take a dip in the Baltic Sea! Bookings are for two hours and include a towel, locker key, and seat cover. Dressing rooms are separated by gender, but everything else is unisex (swimsuits are worn in the public areas). My one complaint about the facilities is that the locker rooms are simply too small, and trying to get ready with everyone else when your reservation is up can be a bit of a challenge. Drinks (including long drink) are available for purchase and you can bring them into the saunas. There was also staff on site to explain proper sauna etiquette to us foreigners, which was much appreciated! My party had a reservation for dinner in the restaurant after our time in the sauna was up, and that's where things fell apart at Löyly a little. Our waitress, simply put, was pretty terrible. I don't know if it was her first day or what, but she seemed super flustered. We had to ask for water three times before it showed up, she never brought us bread (thankfully another employee eventually asked if we would like some) and the service was just bad, not what you would expect for a place that was trying to market itself as a higher end spa. The food, thankfully, was very good, but given the price point the service should have been better. I would definitely check out Löyly for a fun sauna experience. Maybe skip the restaurant though.

Yelp
Loyly is the steam that rises from the sauna. One thing I had to do in Helsinki was to go to a sauna. This sauna seemed to be a popular choice as I have seen it featured in two television shows. It's mixed genders and swimsuits are mandatory. I made a two-hour booking and checked in at the reception where I was given a key for my locker, a towel, and a seat cover. The dressing room was right next to the reception. There is a water closet (bathroom) in the dressing room, but you change out in the open. The next room had open showers. These two rooms are separated by gender. Afterwards, you can enjoy one of the two saunas. The larger sauna is a wood-burning sauna and the smaller more intense sauna is a traditional smoke sauna. When you can't handle the sauna anymore, cool off outdoors and enjoy a swim in the Baltic Sea. Since I don't know how to swim, I clung onto the stairs and only dipped half my body in. After a few cycles, I rinsed off and changed back into my clothes. I went to the restaurant and ordered Jasper's smoked salmon soup, which is actually made with rainbow trout. It was comforting, and a great way to end my time here. Loyly was a fun and memorable experience, and I'm glad the sauna wasn't crowded when I went.

Yelp
A friend and I went to loyly and had the best time! The locker room situation isn't amazing (it's really small with everyone changing in very close quarters and some lockers are high up and you have to stand on a bench.... It was a little wild), but the rest of the place was beautiful! We loved the two different saunas and the ability to go take a dip in the frozen sea (it was sooooo cold, the ladder was like ice, but it was amazing!). People were friendly and it was a really unique experience. I'd definitely recommend it.

Yelp
Super fun spot on the sea with great food and also a sauna option if you are so I inclined. The drinks were lovely and the food quite delicious. It's a bit of a bar scene with local rockers and a lot of cold water bathers in the sea but you'll have a great time and you'll get to see the real Finnish culture. Plus the room is delightfully warm and well-designed.

Yelp
Came here for the sauna and the restaurant and both were great! Make sure to try to reserve the sauna in advanced (I found it much harder to book if it's just males in your reservation). Don't forget to bring a swimsuit since it's co-ed! Once I showered, I was able to try 2 different saunas they had available, enjoy a beer or long drink, take a dip into the freezing baltic sea, and repeat. Food was great too!

Yelp
This was ultimately a highlight of our trip and something that anyone visiting Finland should be checking out! The place is a combination restaurant and sauna/cold plunge. There are two saunas - one normal, one hot. We unfortunately never found the hot one but my better half did when she'd gone earlier and said it was legit! The changing rooms aren't huge but you're not spending s lot of time there. THE SAUNAS REQUIRE SWIMSUITS! I only emphasize this because it was initially unclear and someone without a suit almost went out to the group area. Not a good move! They've got suits for rent for 6€ and a couple towed that come with the experience - one for sitting on, one for drying. The sauna to Baltic dip is 1) invigorating, 2) really cold, 3) terrifying to start and 4) Totally worth it! The sea is something like 40 degrees and is a shock to the system when you get in. Gotta get your head under if only briefly and when you come up, you'll initially think your hair is frozen but then also realize the ambient cold weather doesn't feel so bad. It's actually kind of nice! You get 2 hours to repeat as many times as you like and it's something like $20. This was a true Finnish experience and one we were stoked to take part in! It's absolutely worth the price of admission and then some!

Yelp
I really loved this experience! The sauna was relaxing and rejuvenating. I felt like the price was very reasonable. Location is everything! I loved being able to jump in the Baltic Sea after letting off some steam. The terraces are also great and have comfortable seating to enjoy a drink. They can keep your tab open when you make a locker reservation so you can order as you please. I noticed some sauna snacks on the menu without having to dine in the actual restaurant, but didn't try this option. Locker rooms were clean & loved the scents of the shampoo & wash! Would definitely recommend for a cultural experience. Perfect for killing a few hours before checking into your bnb or hotel.

Yelp
This way by far my favorite experience during my stay in Helsinki. So, in doing research for my trip I saw a bunch of info on the popularity of saunas in Finland. (There are more saunas than people in the country. Also, residences are built with saunas in them. Amazing concept). From my understanding, using the sauna is half of what's called "ice swimming." Which is when you hop in a sauna for a period of time, warm your body/muscles and then go jump immediately into an ice cold bath or, as was the case at Löyly, go jump straight into the Baltic Sea! Apparently, this is part of the daily routine in Finland. Folks wake up, go ice swimming, and then head to work. Pretty much as exercise. There is a deeper meaning behind this exercise( overcoming your fears, fighting through the cold that hits your body and the euphoria your body feels once the muscles relax after completing the exercise) called Sisu. An essence, instead of spending time searching for happiness, you find happiness in every day things; such as this. I probably did not do a great job of explaining this concept but it's quite fascinating and being as thought Finland is annually considered one of, if not the happiest country in the world, I wouldn't mind adopting some of their practices! But back to Löyly. So this place is a sauna/restaurant combination, and it's right on the harbor, bordering the Baltic Sea/Gulf of Finland. If you do the Sauna, you will need your bathing suit. But they have showers if you plan to go to dinner right after. So, we booked the sauna part first. The sauna area contains separate locker and shower areas for men and women; a lounge area to hang in between dips in the sauna/sea, a bar that serves wine, 4 saunas(two of which you have to walk outside to access), and being as though it was on the harbor, contained an outside deck area with a small step ladder that lowers into the Baltic Sea. The idea is to hit the sauna, immediately walk outside to access the ladder, and lower yourself in the Baltic Sea for the "ice" portion of the dip. Do this repeatedly and you will get the same amazing experience every time. So, I went in December. The outside temp was about 25-30 degrees Fahrenheit. I am not sure what the Sea temp was but it hold to be below 10 degrees at most. To start, i hit a few of the saunas first, to WARM up. Then...it was time to take THE dip. I hit the sauna again for about 10mins. Then walked immediately outside, it was freezing but bearable (especially since I was just in the sauna) and toward the ladder that led down to the sea. Naturally, I had the thought to say f**k this, I'm already cold, I'm not about to lower myself into the freezing sea! But nah, we're doing this! So here we go. Walk to the ladder...begin to step down toward the Sea...as my first foot hits the water you FEEL the shock of pins and needless start to overcome your body. But hey we're doing this. So I continue to go lower until i'm neck deep in the Baltic Sea! At first, the pins and needles of the freezing sea water are almost too much to bear against my body but i remembered advice I received to focus on breathing. And no lie, as I begin to focus on my breaths the shock of the water became "bearable." The first dip I stayed in for about 5 secs. Once I got out and walked around in the "warm" 25-30 degree weather, your body relaxes and this feeling of accomplishment and euphoria overcomes you as your entire state just completely relaxes. My muscles and energy have never felt so relaxed! (I see why people do this before work and more than once a day!) the experience was amazing. I ended up doing another dip, lasting about 11 seconds and the second experience was just as great as the first one! Seriously, one of the best experiences and we still had to eat dinner! After showering, we headed toward the restaurant part, which had a nice ambiance. I ordered the Glogi (Glögg) drink which is mulled wine containing different spices(cinnamon, ginger), fruit and nuts and served warm. The one I had contained raspberries and shaved almonds and was VERY GOOD! For dinner I had the reindeer and lappish potato's. First time having reindeer. It was well seasoned. Definitely gamey but good. The potatoes and gravy were a nice topping. Overall. I highly recommend this place for the sauna and the food!

Yelp
One of the once in a lifetime experience when visiting Finland is to embrace oneself to try a Finnish sauna...and what better way to do that than at Loyly where it's relatively modern and the environment surrounding the place is so conducive to doing just that! Loyly is located slightly out of the center city (I got there by cab but was able to take a nice leisurely walk back to city centre in about an hour!) and next to the Baltic sea. They have separateareas for proper hanging out/restaurant area and the sauna areas (but you can still order drinks at a bar inside a sauna area as well). The taxis (e.g. because of the tourists!) and the locals know about it...so especially if you don't want to be disappointed, book your spot for the sauna ahead of time! The fee was around €20? (something like that..dont remember exactly..but let's just say not outrageously expensive at all..you get a locker, a set of hand and body towels, and access to changing room with shampoo/soaps). You can make a reservation online..so that makes it a lot easier to avoid showing up and not being able to do the sauna (you can still try to get into the restaurant part though). The sauna areas (1 dry and 1 wet) are mixed gender but they do have separate changing/toilet/shower areas for males and females. I got a chance to try both...and felt that the dry area is hotter than the wet one (probably because the wet sauna area is more accessible/the first sauna room that people see...so it tends to get more # of people coming in (each room can fit probably about 15 people max if everyone sits properly) but the max people I saw when I went in probably had 7 people max in the wet room and 1 other person in the dry room...so it was still nice and not too crowded at all. My highlight for visiting Helsinki was doing a sauna and running out to take a skinny dip into a Baltic sea right next to a sauna! I wouldnt say the water was anyrhing medically awesome like the Blue Lagoon in Reykjavik, Iceland..but it was salty yet refreshing. What an awesome experience! Definitely a must try if you are visiting Helsinki. P.S. the sauna is probably not 100% authentically a public Finnish sauna. It's modern and they require you to wear swimsuits when doing suana. If you dont have swimsuits with you..you can also rent for ~€5 as well.

Lotten L.

Yelp
Gorgeous location and place. Food was really good, however, there are a few improvements I'd make: - the sauna areas were too crowded. We had to wait to get in. The whole area felt like a huge party. I made a reservation so they should have ensured that there will be an appropriate amount of people. -the locker room and shower areas are too small. On women's side, we had no space to do our makeup or even change into our clothes without touching another person by accident. -the door to the women's locker room is located right next to the bar. You can't even get out and when you are ordering a drink, people keep opening the door. Poorly designed!!

Yelp
Lovely location with an absolutely stunning view. Good food. The service however leaves a lot to desire, especially considering the ambitions that Löyly seems to have. As one interestingly illogical example, the staff serves food at the table but not drinks.

Yelp
A must for your time in Helsinki! Known for saunas, this is a very local thing to try when you are here. Löyly has two different saunas and then in between, you can enjoy a cold jump into the Baltic Sea. It's a very cool experience. Depending on the time of day, you can also enjoy dinner with a great view. The cost is about 20 euro for a 2 hour session. Once in, you can decide how long you want to stay in each sauna. They have clean showers on your way out and provide a locker and towel in the entry price. You can also purchase time in a private sauna but it will be much more in price. If you are visiting Helsinki, definitely check this place out!

Katherine P.

Yelp
We were looking forward to the sauna and atmosphere since planning this huge trip for months... The Saunas were nothing we expected.. locals kept increasing the heat to a point our eyes and nasal passages burned. Even breathing thru a damp towel it was too hot!! They would ask and we would say that's enough and the would add another two or three... Very inconsiderate!!! We came from the states to experience this only to be run out by rude inconsiderate locals!!! Would not recommend ANYONE to visit this sauna!! The restaurant was absolutely wonderful! Everyone enjoyed their meals and a lot of " you gotta have a taste of this" sharing happening! With the food being fabulous the sauna experience was multiplied horrible!!!

Yelp

Yelp
Front of service was average as I arrived before the lunch menu was open, but when engaged they were pleasant. Had to all in twice and go to the bar, but we got there. Very somber look for the Maître D. Outlook is great with views across the water. Great music playing with a fire adding to the cozy feeling. Had "Jaspers" Salmon Soup and it was a very large meal for an entree. Subtle flavours but plenty of salmon. They served a rye bread accompaniment with fresh butter which was very flavoursome. Lemon scented Perch with a hollandaise sauce was very good with great flavours and crispy skin. Looked great too. Not low budget, but paper napkins and lack of premium wine by the glass make this a bit conflicted. Enjoyable after looking for an alternative.

Yelp
Of course we had to experience a Finnish sauna while in Finland! My sister heard great things and planned our visit here. I was hesitant because I thought there was so much more for us to do, but I am glad we did this. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. You walk in and instantly felt relaxed, it's around twenty euros for the sauna experience. There are three different temperature saunas to go into, you are given a locker and towels. There are showers located in the changing rooms with shampoo/soap. They have cold buckets of water to dump on yourself in between the sauna visits. The thing everyone needs to do is take a dip in the Baltic sea! You walk out onto the back patio and can jump into the ice cold water, a must! It was about 5 degrees outside but we sucked it up and jumped in. We would run and jump in and then run into the hottest sauna and warm up. I felt so relaxed and cleansed after my visit here. The staff is very professional and helpful, one employee kept encouraging us to jump in because my sister and I were hesitant, it was freezing! I'm glad he did. Bring a swimsuit! There is also a restaurant and bar on site. Call ahead to make reservations or book online!

Yelp
Brilliant merging of the Finnish sauna experience with a bar and restaurant that feels like a ski lodge. The secret sauce is the thrill of decending a sturdy swimming pool ladder into the Baltic Sea after you've taken a smoke or steam sauna. The back and forth of extreme heat and cold drenching in the sea is transformational. It takes guts because there isn't an obvious cage or safety net if you let go or slip off. I have eaten here on business with a server and also when they ask you to order at the bar them go claim a dining room table. Vegetarian bowl, bacon cheeseburger/fries, reindeer steak, fresh fish entree. All outstanding. Among the best I had over a 7-day visit. Very friendly and attentive staff. I want to bring this concept to the US.

Yelp
Fantastic experience - a definite bucket list check off. Reservation recommended. Call ahead and make sure you have reservations for the sauna and restaurant. One word of advice - DO NOT wear your prescription glasses into the sauna.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. This place is awesome. You can have a sauna and if you're brave enough, you can jump and have a swim in the Baltic throughout the year. Or just come for drinks and enjoy the view. It's difficult to explain..you need to be here :) Nice menu with choices from Burgers to salmon soup. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Helsinki! Take the bus number 14 from Kamppi, it stops right in front.

Yelp
Fun experience! The smoke sauna was amazing! It made it easier to jump into the Baltic Sea. Only minus is I wish they offered massage service.

Yelp
This is an excellent spot to grab a drink and enjoy the view on a gorgeous day. They have 3 different decks to choose from and a large number of chairs. If you're lucky, you'll catch a sailing regatta while you enjoy coffee or a cocktail. Skip the food as it is pretty mediocre. There's not much in the way of breakfast items - it's geared towards lunch/dinner. The muesli on the yogurt was soggy and flavorless, the bean soup we ordered was not warm and very salty. The building is gorgeous and smells like fresh wood. I don't know anyone who has used the sauna but it seems like a great idea. You'll need a swimsuit as they are coed and you'll be jumping into the sea in front of the entire building afterwards. :-)

Yelp
Löyly was just opened not long ago during our visit, maybe about 2-3 days according to the information online and some locals. It got my attention first because was architecture style, I found it unique. It was really modern and geometric. I really like such as style, It does somehow remind me the style of sauna. Well, That is something start from this country. The second reason was because of the view from this place. It was just amazing. When I was talking about the this place with the locals, some said it was a sauna, some said it was a bar, some said it was a restaurant. It actually was all what just be mentioned. You could have a nice meal here or just hang out with friends outside along the seaside and enjoy the beautiful view, the sauna just at the back of the restaurant. Well, just like how the place looks like. Their food or drinks is a bit higher than regular. But I think for the such just wonderful place, it is worth it. When my hubby and I was visit this place, we actually allowed to walk around the whole place without actually purchase anything. We originally wanted to have to try out the food here, but it was so full and noisy. So We decided not to. Well, It was a Friday night though. There many seats outside offered outside, face to the water. Also some on the roof top. Great spot to have a panorama view, we were there around the sunset time, it was just very beautiful and romantic. I really enjoyed every moment of it. Even it is so close to the others famous sights in Helsinki, But I think one of the place to pay a visit, especially in summer.

Yelp
Outstanding! Two things: great Sauna and amazing bar/food. Really great experience. Sauna has a good feeling. Many options once inside. Smoke as well as regular. Ability to dip into the Baltic is really amazing. They pace the guests allowed in based on a reservation schedule, which is really nice because it keeps the sauna feeling uncrowned. Clean shower areas. Great views of the sea. Once you are done go over to the restaurant. Really fairly priced food, well prepared, relaxed, more great views. Lots of options. I really liked the burger and the sushi. House wines were excellent and reasonably priced. Will be back.

Yelp
A trendy and modern way to experience a Finnish sauna. We made reservations the night before for four people and had no problem finding a time. There were changing and shower rooms for males and females separate and then communal saunas. The smoke sauna was spectacularly hot and after each session at either of the saunas we jumped into the freezing Baltic! I did however have two issues with the sauna experience. One: the bar and check-in/ check-out area were in the same area. There was only one staff member and we had to wait almost 20 minutes to order beer. The set up was bizarre and a separate bar would lessen the confusion and long line experienced by customers. Two: the women's locker room door was also next to this area. And sometimes when the door would open, where women were changing, you would see guests in line. Again, let's separate those areas and make sure the curtain remains closed by staff! After we went to the restaurant and had salads and salmon soup. All dishes were great and served in Marimekko bowls. The outdoor patio was clean and large and the roof view was beautiful! But I felt like the mood was more chill in the restaurant on a Wednesday night and the bumping music needed to be toned down. I would love to go back in the warm summer with friends and enjoy the patio!

Yelp
Nice environment, bit overburdened bar staff so be prepared to queue 15-30minutes to order. Food surprisingly mediocre. I added two teaspoons of salt to the salmon soup and still it was as if no salt or hardly any taste was present. The building is great, but I always remember building it exceeded its budget by 50%.

Yelp
Unbelievable sauna experience. Since you're gonna ask - it's co-ed and everyone is wearing bathing suits. The single cleanest public bath-type facility I've ever been to... don't get me started on the incredible design. The staff was incredibly nice and professional, even to tourists. It was awesome in the winter where you could jump into the 1 degree Baltic Sea after burning up in the saunas. I was nervous to get in the cold water, but DO IT. You can even take a break mid-sauna to enjoy some sauna vodka (KOSKENKORVA) or beer in the nice chalet area. Two pointers: make a reservation a week in advance & hang out in the [smaller] smoke sauna. You can't come to Helsinki without doing this!

Yelp
We came as group of 4. Half of the tables were empty. We ordered food and then stuff explained to us that actually all the tables are reserved. In the end we had to sit outside in -2 degree and eat our burgers. Stuff wasn't that friendly. I believe if you reserve a table experience might be better. In my case we just paid double price for having meal at cold wind.

Yelp
The place is nice but at least a half of crowd is very generic and sucky.... Nuff said.

Yelp
Sauna and sea, what a great combination! Löyly in Finnish refers to the steam that is created when throwing water at a hot sauna stove, and what a perfect name for this hot location, which could beat any bar/lounge place in a posh beach in south France. The atmosphere is clubby, Ibiza style with an outdoor DJ (nothing hectic, more like lounge music) and an stylish bar with a trendy terrace with a view to the sea. There's a restaurant which I haven't tried it yet, and you can walk up to the roof for another open bar with another terrace and more stunning views! The sauna costs 19e per person and includes towel and toiletries. Swim wear compulsory (less Finnish in this sense, probably to attract tourists) but you can just come to enjoy the view and wave at the sailing boats floating nearby...

Yelp
This place is beautiful but make reservations otherwise you won't be getting into the sauna. The views from the top are worth checking out.

Yelp
This review is for the Sauna. We came here on recommendation from our hotel. Our original plan was to go to one of the older, classic saunas, but they were further away from our hotel. My wife wanted a nicer place, and she was very pleased to see this one had opened up just this past year, and had a very nice website with all of the information online. It is new, very contemporary, and has a bar/restaurant attached. The plus side, being a tourist at least, is that this sauna is Co-Ed, so you can be with your wife/girlfriend/partner in the Sauna and they allow bathing suits here as well (as opposed to just a towel which is more traditional). They have two types of saunas, a larger one heated by electricity, and a classic smoke fire sauna (very hot). For around $18-19 Euros per person, you get the place for 2 hours. They have a small bar at check in where you can order beer and wine. The best part of this sauna has to be the stairs into the Baltic Sea. After steaming for an hour, it is super refreshing to jump into the frigid water. There may not be any 'whipping' or 'cupping' here like on Anthony Bourdain's show, but if you want a new, clean, and fun sauna, this is it.

Yelp
Really good food my only issue was having to order and pay every time I wanted a beer. They do not run tabs. I had a burger with fries and I have to give that 5 stars. I'm here on bussiness and can absolutely appreciate The scenery

Yelp
Pros: Nice view and great design. Cons: Mediocre food at expensive prices (restaurant is actually run by a large chain). Consistently horrible service - reception is peering at you iver their nose.

Yelp
Fantastic sauna with a great view of the ocean. While I can't take the amount of heat Finns can handle, I really enjoyed myself here. Be sure to take a dip in the Gulf of Finland using the ladder outside the main sauna!

Yelp
Highly recommend this sauna. Beautiful modern design with saunas, relaxing areas and cafe in addition to the ability to go in the sea. Fairly reasonable price of entry for a 2 hour period at under 20 euros a head.

Yelp
Nice building. The level of food was below what the place should be. Very disappointing. As far as drinks, great atmosphere.

Yelp
Cool spot near the sea, but the atmosphere is not very welcoming. Somehow the design of the place and the customer service just leave you feeling cold. During the summer this place is packed and it will be difficult to actually get a drink.

Yelp
We stopped here after our tour and before getting back on the cruise ship. It was a beautiful day in July, sunny and warm. There were options to sit inside, outside under the umbrellas, or just on chairs to gaze out into the sea. I had the salmon bowl with rose. You have to order inside and carry out your own food. Food was delicious and healthy. The air was very clean and overall the atmosphere was serene. They have a pink swing for relaxing and it's great for pictures. The only negative was the staff: rude at the counter. Would recommend.

Yelp
Beautiful public sauna and restaurant right by the sea. Amazing Finnish design. Definitely worth seeing. I would take my foreign friends here for a visit. Lovely sun deck.

Yelp
Nice modern restaurant , sauna is tipical and special in this place, food is not so good, staff are not friendly at all!

Maatti M.

Yelp
It's ok! Fine location, seagull rich which means eating al fresco is more of a pain than a pleasure. Food was good, overpriced but fine. Salmon soup ok, burger ok. Not the worst and not the best. Busy and crowded.

Yelp
Decided I had to go to sauna to complete my Finnish experience and I wasn't disappointed. I walked in and was able to get a locker for an hour right away (5pm). Saunas were clean and rooms were modern and comforting. After my Sauna I walked over to the restaurant and was able to get a table for one right away. The decor is great. Decidedly Scandinavian design with comforting touches. The fireplace in the middle of the restaurant is the perfect touch. I got the 3 course prefix menu and it was a soup, lamb, and a chocolate cake. They were all great. The soup was light and a great start to the meal to warm you up, then came the lamb. It was perfectly cooked and just melted in your mouth. It was on a bed of farro I believe mixed with beets and broccoli. My only criticism would be less farro. The chocolate cake was paired with an ice cream and a citrus sauce. They were great. I would definitely recommend for a great dinner date.

Yelp
It takes an incredibly long time to get food here. Ordered a soup 40 min ago, and still waiting. Staff has quite an attitude as well.

Yelp
This place stinks. Good: -Architecture is very interesting in a good way, it looks good, it feels good. -Location is another plus, not too far from center, with direct sea view. That's were good things end. Bad: Service is very, very bad, on both restaurant and sauna sides. Even though this place newly opened it feels like nobody has ever put any thought into actually running this thing. It is one big mess. Where to start? First, McDonalds is more open to accommodating customer needs that Löyly. We had an electronic gift card that we want to use to cover some part of our dinner, guess what? You need to have a printed copy of it (printed e-voucher, really?). Why? Because accountant asks for paper copies. Can you print it perhaps? No! So, accountant's good mood is more important than whatever customer needs? What's next? If cleaning personnel says that they find this place too laborious to clean, you'll start to ask customers to take off their shoes before coming in, yell at them if they make a mess while eating, and then force them to clean after themselves? Well according to other reviews food was bad anyway, so I guess we should be happy we skipped it. Then comes the sauna. Here customer service is more friendly, they still have no idea what they are doing though. It all looks ad hoc, and one is left with the feeling that they forgot something. Lack of signage does not help. Half of the people wonder into lounge and sauna areas fully clothed, because they could not find changing rooms. Smoke sauna is impossible to find if you do not ask for directions (service people at the reception might tell you, if they remember that is). You need to take care of your towel and sauna seat cloth, because you need to return them back to the desk (otherwise there is a 5E fee). Of course all towels and seats are identical, so you either need to keep them locked up in your locker (where they are useless), or you need to carry them everywhere, and keep an eye on them when you are in the sea or shower. Sauna turns are timed (2h), and you will have to pay an additional feel for any overtime. Ok. But guess what? There are no clocks in Sauna not a single one, and showering, swimming and going to sauna with mobile phones and watches is not a thing somehow (who would have thought). So you need to go to reception and ask what time is it, if you need to know it. This place has a potential to be a great place. Now it is shaping up to be a badly managed tourist trap, which is sad.

Yelp
Tons of potentilal but logistics nightmare at least with the current level of customers. Extremely slow service, prepare to WAIT for everything. Finns need to learn to demand better customer service if this is acceptable in their minds. Otherwise, wait till the biggest buzz is over and go check it out.
