A Syrian Street Food Counter From Damas — and More March 2022 Montreal Restaurant Openings | Eater Montreal

"On Avenue du Parc a new vegan and gluten-free bakery and café offers cakes, cookies, doughnuts, squares and more without added sugar, along with cold-pressed juices and a small grocery section stocking owners Emilia Jamieson and Carmen Rose’s favourite local products; the owners say they hope to bring a little sweetness to the neighbourhood after two years of pandemic living." - Valerie Silva

My wife and I tried their carrot, lemon and poppy seed cupcakes. They were amazing, and we ordered white icing lemon and poppy seeds wedding cake. It was so delicious. They also put edible flowers on the muffins and cake which was nice. My wife is celiac, so she was happy with the cake. We will visit again. But while ordering our cake, we asked for a specific cake icing design. They didn’t follow that and made another design, but still, it was good for us.

Lu & I is an exceptional bakery! We tried 6 items: Rhubarb & Strawberry Pie, Lemon Tart, mini Chocolate donut, Date Square, Chocolate & Raspberry Cupcake and Carot Cake Cookie. All items were exceptional with the perfect sweetness. This is a charming little spot that is a must in Montreal.❤️

I ordered a cake for my daughter’s 1st birthday from here. The taste was great and it was so wonderful that it was vegan, gluten free and without regular sugar. Everyone enjoyed it! However, the presentation was really lacking. The way it was decorated was somewhat haphazard and not what I would expect for a cake costing $78 plus tax. If they would have skipped the randomly placed dried oranges, it would have helped.

I called same day to see if I could get a last minute gluten free cake however cakes required 24 hrs notice. Instead I got 8 cupcakes since the persons who birthday it was required gluten free. I am not a gluten free or vegan person but these were absolutely amazing, tasted so good and for sure the best gluten free and/or vegan cupcakes I’ve ever had. The whole crowd loved them as well. We got an assortment and all of them were a hit If you are Gluten free or not - these are great !

Amilia was so nice and helped me so much with the order, she made sure all the ingredients were super fresh!! She explained everything so clearly, I appreciate the high customer service that will definitely make me back for more! One on the best vegan spot in town!!!

Bit pricey and they didn't bake the gluten free cookies right because they were just really mushy. But they seem new to this area with only about 90 reviews and it's hard to find gluten free lactose free option so I hope it gets better. But yeah, probably will go somewhere else for pastries...

Delicious cupcakes. They’re unconventional and dense but also moist and delicious. The rhubarb tarts are absolutely amazing. Excellent stuff and super impressive to be gluten, dairy and refined sugar free.

I came by for the first time to pick up my order from sarrasin boulangerie, and decided to try out 2 muffins while i was there. I got the carrot muffin as well as the strawberry. And they were both so delicious and full of flavor. Will definitely be coming back soon. Its so hard to find gluten free bakeries in the city that are mostly grain free, organic and without the use of seed oils and processed sugars - basically everything i avoid! Its perfect! Cant wait to come back.

Yelp
This was such a welcome surprise on our way to St. Viateur & Fairmount bagels (yes, we're tourists.) The place is rather intimate, and has been up & running only for 3 months or so. Our interest quickly zeroed in on the vegan tarts, and the citron (tartes cru aux citron) absolutely stole our hearts. It was perfectly tart and not overtly sweet. We also tried one of the cupcakes and it didn't disappoint. It had a very dense cake-y mass, thus it was much more filling then the tart. Regardless, well worth the C$. Lastly, there's a few tables outside as well as seating indoors. Good for people watching. It's worth mentioning that the owner (who's name I don't recall) was extremely kind to us.

Yelp
Was planning to go to another cafe, but this one caught my eye. It is small, but it has both indoor and outdoor seating during the warmer times of the year. Friendly service, nice decor and good food. It should be mentioned the cakes and coffees are all vegan, which is a plus for many. I only ordered an oat milk latte this time, but will go back for one of their cupcakes next time.

Yelp
This place is awesome. I have IBD and thus have to maintain a silly little anti-inflammatory diet, and it's exceptionally rare that I find a shop with freshly made pastries that I can actually eat without becoming dead. But everything in this godsend of a shop is both gluten-free and mostly cane sugar-free, (most of their baked goods are sweetened with maple sugar and/or coconut sugar) so there are tons of things I (and you as well, my hypothetical fellow dietarily restricted friend) can eat! I just ate a doughnut for the first time in like fifteen years and it was so good I feel like I could punch a hole in the sky. Also, if you're ridiculous like me and choose to torture yourself by not drinking caffeine, the decaf coffee here is great, and has very little caffeine, which I can tell because I don't get anxiety from it lol
